Do you ever break your deals? Do you have a 'diplomancy' deck?
>>97250009>TQIn my pod of retards my deal making is basically."Hey guys, don't do x until your next turn."Then they don't, listen and get ass mad when all the shit they just played got lost as collateral damage as I dropped a farewell to deal with the guy who's in the lead.
>>97250009No. I explain to them why it's in their best interest to work with me to eliminate a specific threat to both of us. If they disagree then I let them do what they're gonna do, I don't know what's in their hand or deck so I might be wrong. Or they might just be hedging the in-lead player's luck differently than I do, both are valid and there's no point arguing over it. People who beg "PLEASE DON'T ATTACK ME IF YOU DON'T I WON'T ATTACK YOU FOR TWO WHOLE TURNS" are pathetic children.
Fourty (40) starting life is objectively superior to thirty (30)
>tq>Do you make deals with people at the table?I dont expect other players to bail me out and Im not doing you favors that are going to cost me the game in three turns>Do you ever break your deals?if a card doesnt say to do it then it doesnt have to be done>Do you have a 'diplomancy' deck?Did a group hug deck forever ago that was basically choosing whose getting first, since then the closest I came was a few pillow fort decks. Its not that fun for meIts a casual format that almost never has any stakes besides how much fun you can have in a round, why do you people feel like you need to whine your way to victory?
>>97250009>TQNo.No.I technically have a group hug deck but I only play it with people I think have extremely weak mentality or people I haven't played with before.
Thirty (30) starting life is objectively superior to fourty (40)
>>97250009I won't necessarily make "deals," but I will try to nudge players. If someone has a somewhat scary board and I have an answer it isn't 100% correct to use, I might ask "Who are you swinging at on your turn?" or hold them up before combat with that question. If they say they're coming at me, or if they're cagey they give themselves away and I use my answer. Otherwise we have a mutual understanding and I can hold off on their board.
>>97250009>Do you have a 'diplomancy' deck?Does this count? I've heard it described as group slug by some people and politics by others. I don't care how people describe it, I just want to goad shit until I can win with Insurrection or Rise of the Dark Realms
>>97250009>Do you make deals with people at the table? No, but I do tend to verbally identify what I consider to be the largest threat to the table as a whole and the pieces that are making them so. Including--and especially--when it's me. There's nothing less satisfying than a game decided by poor threat assessment.
>>97250009Picrel is hilarious with him
>>97250118Strange, i wouldnt classify it as either group slug or politics.
>TQ>Do you make deals with people at the table?it really depends on the person, i play always with random people and normally avoid making deals because my main goal is obviously to win and eventually ill have to take the person i just did the deal with down.>Do you ever break your deals?because of the above statement, and given the mental stability of your normal EDH player, breaking deals means the player is just "lied" to will for the next six months hunt me down every time we sit on the same table. in short, i tend not to break them and i avoid making them in the first place.>Do you have a 'diplomancy' deck?no
>>97250009>>TQ>Do you make deals with people at the table?I don't play at tables that do this.Diplomacy is a new player myth. Ultimately unless you're doing a show for entertainment, people are going to do whatever is best for them. More than likely a player you need to make a deal with just has a powerhouse deck that doesn't rely on your promises to win, so it's useless
>>97250009>Do you make deals with people at the table? Do you ever break your deals? Do you have a 'diplomancy' deck?Yes. Rarely. No I don't. I have a few decks like Darien, Xyris and Gisela that encourage people to attack others, or let me attack them.
>>97250009>Do you make deals with people at the table?Typically no, but if I can kill someone at instant speed (for example, with pic rel with my zombie deck) I'll warn them that if they attack me, they'll lose>Do you ever break your deals?Never, scum behavior from scum people.>Do you have a 'diplomancy' deck? No, sounds cringe as fuck. I play Magic to play Magic, not act like some fucking diplomatic ambassador
i tried anons, ive really tried.but i gotta run this card on every deck that has green in it, i cant be more straightforward than that.
>>97250197
>>97250009>tqYes, of course.
>>97250211Honestly, based. I wholeheartedly support anyone running any of the Portal legendaries
>>97250211do you put things like dowsing dagger to give X guy 1/1s and to help convince people not to fuck you over?
>>97250211wtfthose ching chong cards are expensive af thoand the vast majority are bad like hell, is it a collectors thing?
>>97250222No I don't>>97250240They're cool and based. Also best way to build mono R control (at least years ago when I built her)>>97250213I have a Japanese and English copy I run together it's kino
>>97250009>Hey bud, I'm casting pic related on you.>Why me? I haven't done anything to you!>Read the card. bro, and he does>"I see">Gets to his turn>I full swing at anon>Why though?>You targeted me.Took it out of my deck since. Haven't tried to do anything politics or diplomacy ever since..
Why are players so bad
>>97250373New players are being raised on commander and cards that simply ask nothing of them and all the boomers quit so now you just have a bunch of dummies playing this game.
>>97250362wotc been trying this diplomacy stuff for a while.either their not doing it correctly or the player base just doesn’t care
>>97250423It's got nothing to do with the common format, players have been bad for much longer than they've been on Commander>t. playing since the formats were Type 1 and Type 2
>Do you make deals with people at the table? I never propose any, though I will listen to good ones.>Do you ever break your deals? No, I'm a white player
there are too many neat effects on different cards to keep adding to my decks without it turning into an unplayable mess of neat effects. no, I'm not building a new one
>>97250424They either don't care, or are genuinely too stupid to understand what the card actually does.
>>97250471wasn’t specifically talking about that card, but the general direction of wotc regarding diplomacy.i feel the game has many avenues to take in that regard to make a game fun and enjoyable
>>97250362This is the kind of shit that I’d attack into to get it off the board because there’s a 90% chance their deck wins without ever attacking, so I’d just be giving them more opportunities to draw into their combo without gaining a comparative advantage myself.
>>97250471people are retarded, I play breena and everyone attacks me "you're forcing attacks you gotta die" meanwhile the rhystic player is sitting pretty
>>97250547Spotted the retard
Proxying and custom alts are the only way to still have fun with this game.

>>97250211Why wouldn't your opponent just destroy Diaochan?
>>97251050I wish. I'm so lonely
>>97251074Ooof Im sorry anon.
>>97251053Good question
with capwotc having pulled this lair, theres no guarantee we will get vaevictis nergigante. but we do have a wotc approved look we could proxy up if they end up changing it.I need to build a deck around vae. Jund group (t)hug?
>>97251053Removing commanders isnt allowed. You have to let me do the thing. Its the rules.
