>>97251513>Do you play any other TTRPGS? Mainly Chronicles of Darkness or generic games using the system, but my group has had campaigns in Pathfinder, Starfinder, Exalted, and a few others like Fallout.>What draws you to 5e?It's what the guy running the current campaign wanted to use, probably because he's got almost 1000 hours in BG3 now.
>>97251513>Do you play any other TTRPGS?Mainly D&D 3.5e, which I vastly prefer over 5e.>What draws you to 5e?That's what some of my friends play.

>>97251513>TQ3.0 D&D. I remember making my first dungeon and playing with one friend. Good times.>BTQI used to. The last game I played that wasn't 5e was Genesys. I've played a bunch of others. I kind of miss other games but my group knows 5e well and I wanted to test 5.5e. 5.5e is basically the same, maybe slightly better. What draws me to 5e is the original vision of it. A quite basic game that you can then change to your liking through modular rules. WoTC completely fumbled the ball giving us those modular rules but third party and just general house rules make it work. I steal a lot from 3.5 and 4e for my games.
>What edition got you into D&D?The first time I was supposed to play D&D, it was 3.5. My buddy had us roll characters when we were on spring break but we got too high to actually play and then just never started up again for whatever reason. After years of trying to find someone willing to DM, I finally decided to DM myself this past year with 5e 2024.
>Playing Curse of Strahd as a Barbarian.>Artificer party member is annoying as fuck. Constantly argues with the DM.>Got mad that his character was being ignored and left the game mid session. Only to come back a minute later and argue with the DM in front of the rest of the party instead of doing this in private.>Whatever, we're in the Amber temple now.>I find some tombs, they make my Barbarian evil but only I know this.>Tell the DM in private that it'd be a fun twist if I turn on the party when we defeat Strahd and I'd be one final bossfight. DM allows it.>For whatever reason he thought it was a good idea to tell the artificer this information.>Next session, artificer spends half an hour asking if I was evil and me repeatedly telling him no. Told him that even if I were evil why would I tell him that? I get mad and tell him to shut up. For the rest of the campaign he would sporadically ask me if I was evil like it was the funniest bit ever.>In castle Ravenloft, we eventually meet Strahd and his brides. Our bard was charmed during this.>I was in the middle of telling the brides to walk away from this fight or we'd kill them too. Just a cool character moment before the final fight.>Artificer decides to interrupt me and tell me to not say that because our Bard was charmed and would attack us if he knew we were gonna threaten Strahd even though we were literally about to fight him.>Oh well we defeat Strahd and his brides.>I reveal that I'm evil and will now kill them all.>Our Bard snapped out of his Charm and defeats me.>Since the bard and I were in the campaign the longest I thought it'd be a nice character moment to have my Barbarian say his final words to him.>The artificer decides to interrupt me again and ask if I was evil one last time. I lost my cool and yelled at him to shut the fuck up.He ruined the campaign for me. I should've said something.
