I tend to use a lot of stuff from 80s and 90s comics and books in my games. Sure a lot of stuff from that era was campy as all hells but Star Wars needs a bit of cheese and camp from time to time in my opinion to break up the action.

Here is the chart of all games on longshanks, minus Mirror matches. Republic started out very strong with ARC and Clone commando spam, but they got beat with the nerf bat over and over again. For a long time, Separatists and rebels were the top dogs, with Shadow collective and Empire struggling.

It's kind of hard to tell what the exact meta is after the december points update, but it should be more equal now, mainly due to the severe Aqua Droid nerfs. On the other hand, Customizable Super Tactical droids are absurdly strong, since they have the best 3 pip in the game and also an ability to make ai units do speed 2 moves as a free action.

The Empire has been struggling in this edition, but with the advent of the Stormtrooper Battalion and yet more points buffs, they may be able to compete now. With each points interation, they are getting a bit better.

Rebel fleet troopers + Cassian in a shotgun super squad is just a ridiculous unit for the price point. As long as at least 2 minis remain in it, it can still delete activations every turn.

Empire got Kallus as a squad leader. He's perfect for riots, giving them 3 dice in melee, an immobilize option, Courage 2 for 28 points. Given that he dies last, the dice pool of his unit degrades much more gracefully than a normal riot squad.

Nope!

That's the whole problem. I don't know if it's the director or the director's art production team but they didn't bother to disguise anything they lifted from IRL. Neither props, buildings or character identity.

Depends on your taste. As a /k/ommando, I can tell you that definitely isn't an AK dust cover.

However, it retains the distinct AK form factor because they made no changes ahead of the foregrip, meaning the distinct step-up of the gas port and tube for the piston are there and obvious, the front sight post is still there, and perhaps most mystifyingly of all they give it a custom magazine which retains the distinctive banana shape of an AK mag. All in all, I'd say it's instantly recognizable as an AK.

95% of it isn't Star Wars. Objectively speaking.
There are ways to do Star Wars grimdark, though the idea itself is just kinda dumb and a sign of people who don't appreciate Star Wars. But Andor and R1 fail at that, they aren't even Star Wars beyond having Stormtroopers and a few recognizable vehicles (and the ones which aren't recognizable are all ugly as sin)

I like that we got varying sizes for the Providence because TCW retconned the size into 2km in order to make it larger than Venators even though the movie shows the ship as being 1km, talk about cheap effort instead of making a new bigger ship
