>>97264748thanks anon
>>97264748Some real nice shit in the collages, good work everyone.
Learned elders of /WIP/, what's the best way to remove excess super glue from hard plastic? I accidentally put way too much glue while trying to put on a gorget to the model. Dish soap didn't help, will isopropyl alcohol do the trick? Last time I tried aceton it started melting the plastic. Plan b is to sculpt a fur pelt for the guy to wear from green stuff.
Working on this emperors champion. My new years resolution is a finished Black templars army by the end of next year. Wish me luck guys.
>>97264846best of luck to you my man
Sup /wip/ I was given a ton of these werewolves in chinese armour but I don't play KoW.What does these read to for you?
Here's that scale comparison between spacenam and grimguard jungle raptors that I promised earlier. The grimguard heads seem to be a bit larger but their general body size is pretty similar. Sorry for my thumb being in the way lol. All my assembled spacenam units were already stuck on bases so it was a bit fiddly getting the pic taken with both dudes lined up
>>97264863are you planning on running them in 40k? I think it looks cool, but I would like to see it in a matching colour scheme to properly form my opinion.
>>97264748Here’s my recap. Happy New Year, everyone! I’ve got some new projectsready on my table.
>my minis were not included in collageI'm sad. They must have been considered very bad...
>>97264914post them again, I'm sure it was just a mistake
>>97264842You could try putting it in the freezer, that's supposed to make super glue more brittle at which point you could maybe chip it off easier.
>>97264884Awesome, thanks anon!
>>97264930If you say so...
>>97264884looks cool, can't wait to see how you paint them>>97264858>>97264846the red parchment(?) looks so sick>>97264842The iso should work, IIRC superglue is soluble in iso.>last time I tried acetoneAnon, that's what plastic glue is made out of, of course it will melt the shit out of anything it touches.
>>97264748holy cow i made it on a /wip/ OP i've made it
And bigger scale figures from different angles.
>>97264842how come you're using superglue in the first place? also picture autofocused on your finger
>>97264970I saw these on /m/, voted for you in the gb too lol
>>97264987Yeah, both threads called for collages so I posted them there as well. Nice to hear you liked my GB entries, thank you.
I finished some Blood Ravens for a gift.
>>97264978it looks like anon is trying to convert/ glue something to plastic that's not plastic. so superglue. Plus I pretty much never use plastic glue anymore unless I need the strength because I like to go back on decisions and snap arms off. Superglue's fine. If he made the mistake with plastic glue instead the whole model would be melted.
>>97264748Just finished my most involved kitbash to date and im incredibly proud of it. I originally intended to make the head hooded since the host model incorporated the back half of the head onto the torso, and i thought sculpting hair would be beyond my abilities. This is my first time using greenstuff for anything other than gap filling. But after some Emperor blessed screw ups while making the hood, i saw how easy the hair would actually be to make and went that route instead. This will be my interrogator for a radical inquisitorial agents kill team
>>97265066phonepost fail, but 10/10 sick model, where did you get the mask from?
>>97265066And here is the hair/back of the head
I've decided to paint my Jain zar in her classic scheme, how would i achieve the pattern on her tit and thigh? I don't know what to call it, pearlescant maybe? Looks like a seashell.
>used up all my wet palette sheets and have to cut new onesfucking rolled wiggely asshole paper I HATE IT
>>97265135Looks like they did it with just a shitton of stippling and a gloss varnish.I'd recommend colourshift/metallic paints, but I don't know if you could get such an extreme cream-black transition with those.
>>97265075Fffuuuuuu- lets see if this works. Head is from Warcry Jade Obelisk team, body is female genestealer magus, gun arm is delaque ganger, book arm is from imquisition agents. The warcry team comes with a masked and unmasked head for the model if you want a bare faced version. The sculpt of the bare face is a lot better than the boxart makes it look
>>97265198I like ghoul face guy. A surprised/holy shit! face going
>>97263261How does one do that paint scraping weathering effect?
>>97263976Absolutely, every single anon ever who made a post you disagree with, is one and the same.
>>97265324>seething so badly he has to reply in the next threadlmaokill yourself, seriously
>>97265318Tou can honestly just paint the edges with a silver or dark paint like you would with an edge highlight. If you're feeling ambitious you could also highlight the bottom edge of any given scratch/chip to create the illusion of depth.
>>97265318Apply very small amounts of silver or a similar color around the edges of the metal surface. You can also do thin streaks and dots here and there, but it's easy to overdo it.
>>97264961Look good to me.
>>97264961Hey an Infinity and Eldfall player! Nice minis, especially the dragoons. Love your color schemes
>>97265342>>97265346I guess it speaks to that anon's skill that I thought that was actual paint chipping and not an additional layer on top. It's a really cool effect, gonna try it out on my next mini
>>97265318i used black first, kind of like a highlight but way messier, then a metal (not too bright, i used vallejo games chainmail) on a smaller surface over the black parts
>>97265368thanks anon, it's a fun little method that gives good results quickly and without too much fine motor skill required
>>97265368consider using a spongesponge chipping is relatively easy and looks great when done properly
>>97265369>>97265380I'll give both methods a shot and see how it goes, thanks for the advice anons
>>97265380seconding this for larger surfaces and vehicules, works like a charm
>>97265331When you've been going on and on and on and on and.... so forth, over a poster who hasn't posted anything for half a year(?) now, you really shouldn't toss around terms like "seethe"
>>97264846Enjoy the ride, anon. Will you do a more grey/iron ish black?
>>97265399Sure, sure. Kill yourself.
>>97265266Thanks! That will be my enlightener, his face is from Warcry The Unmade. Theyre cultist dudes that have skinned their faces off
>>97265412I'm just in awe over here over the ego on you, thinking you can accuse everyone and there dog of being your mental bogeyman day in and day out for so long and you somehow come to the conlcusion that this isn't anons being sick of your delusional shit, no, it's some sad sack who made the mistake of posting less than professional quality minis in this thread months ago, got shit on for having a non-GW friendly opinion on products and never came back.It couldn't possibly be that you sperging out over something and refusing to just let it go after you got your way is FUCKING ANNOYING.I would take the shitty craft paint minis every day over your no models bullshit.
>>97265438Yeah you're so calm you just had to type all this garbage lmao. You could post a single timestamped model to prove me wrong but we both know you won't do that, you fucking paintlet.
>>97265438oh and I almost forgot - kill yourself
>>97265449I have a reason to be angry, the sperging shitposter pissing me off is actually here every fucking day, no models bitch.I bet you're so pissed off because the low level of the craft painter is higher than you could achieve with model grade paints.
>>97265438>>97265468Uh oh melty
>>97265468you should at least TRY to be less obvious lmao
>>97265494Holy fuck you're a broken record, obvious about what you piece of shit? that I'm mad at you? Does it hurt your feelings to know someone is sick of your pathetic shit? Do you not like getting called out for having no skill and no talent and that have to cover for this by shitting on the lowest hanging target?
>2000+20+10-5 is ending>craftsperg is having his anniversary melty againincredible
>>97265509Yeah that's the IQ I fucking expect from a piece of shit sperg like you, anniversary requires a year to have passed you peabrained fuckstick.
>>97265509He really is a pathetic specimen
Maybe I should just only photograph my models *before* varnishing (read: ruining) them
>>97265509Every general has a dedicated clown/shitposter, he just happens to be ours.
>>97265555Checked. Tho craftsperg is nearing lolcow levels of retarded at this point.
2026, I am forgottent. primer schizoI did say I would try and tone it down this past year.
>>97265577I'm sorry, but there's always a bigger fish in a sperg-pond, primer-sama.
>>97265586I guess I can take solace in the fact that at least I believe my schizo rants, unlike craftsperg.
>>97265577You're the guy who insists on chemically bonding primers right? I still don't see why it's necessary for non-metal and non-wood stuff but we don't have to argue about it for the umpteenth time
>>97265615I think he's the one that got angry when people called citadel rattlecans primers. It might be the same person though, I usually hid these meltdowns so I'm not 100% on the lore.
>tortured this poor soul for my first ever attempt at glazing>wasted an entire afternoon going back and forth>finally somewhat satisfied with the result>immediately notice all the fuckery as soon as I zoom in with the phoneI always found it funny how easy it all sounds, even after having watched and read so much material on the subject, only to fall completely flat the second you have to actually pick up a brush and do it; at least it's progress and I've learned some valuable lessons (like that I can't mix and manage colours for shit)>>97265198Fug that's a really cool interrogator, have you settled on a scheme for your whole team yet? Also, good on you for sculpting the hair instead of slapping a hood on her, definitely makes her look much more confident
>>97265659The gradient is pretty decent on the cloak but I can see what you mean with the messiness on the front side. For what it's worth I think that look fits for a ghost
>>97265509he also had a melty in /vg/
>>97265526If that's your choice go for it. They're your models so you can paint them or not paint them however you want.
>>97265526I don't trust aerosol varnishes anymore, just a light paint-on varnish brushing onto the areas that will get touched. Where I live in winter sprays can get fucked up from the temperature difference outside and indoors. and I ruined a squad years ago applying too much spray varnish.
>>97265761You should honestly always varnish with an airbrush, rattlecans suck
>>97265761I've only ever tried paint-on varnish and it pisses me off every time. People say that you can cut down on the gloss by putting clear medium over top but that's just a fucking lie.
>>97265659Thanks anon! I have not. I sperged out on Inquisition books this year and read all of The Vaults of Terra trilogy, Eisenhorn trilogy, Ravenor trilogy, and the 2 curremt Bequin books and what I noticed was only the troopers and any regular joe staff have uniforms, all the operatives wear what they prefer. So ill lean into colors that will fit the personalities of each character. Neutral blanche-style colors for most of them except the inquisitor and interrogator, and maybe neon punk look for the penal scum dude. The thing for certain is the interrogator will have bright orange hair like Poison Ivy from The Cramps/girl from the Brave movie/lead singer of Castle Rat
>>97265779matte varnish?
>>97265806Tried it and it looks exactly like gloss.
>>97265704It fits, altho I have no idea how I'll do the rest of him lelI kinda made a lot of mistakes on the front since the surface is really uneven, and inbetween so many layers I started losing tracks of which colour was supposed to go where and which ratios I had used for a certain layerIt's a mess, but it's progress>>97265792Extremely good idea, Godspeed anon>lead singer of Castle RatIt's kinda funny to read that considering I went to their shows 5 times within the past couple of years; some of the most fun gigs I've ever been to, they're a joy to witness live
>>97265818Did you shake it enough? If I understand it correctly the shit that actually makes the finish matte sediments to the bottom. So you need to shake the fuck out of it for a proper result.
>>97265839I have a vortex mixer so it feels like that shouldn't be an issue. Maybe I need to do it for a long time? And upside-down?
>>97265852>for a long time>upside-downdefinitely worth a try
>>97265818You must be doing something wrong because matte varnish is really noticeable. This is a comparison of Mr Hobby Topcoat for gunpla but the same thing applies to minis
aaaa, I've been up for 3 hours already. I must get to the painting mines. I'm wasting all my holiday time off.
Last finished mini of the year, i managed to finish a grand total of 24 minis this year(4 characters and 2 squads), was extremely busy with work :(((
>>97265525>>97265555>>97265563Desperate samefagging (because having one anonymous faggot supporting you is meaningful, right?)
>>97265954Holy shit craftsperg really is here!fuck off with your fingerpainting sperg
>he is still having a melty
Do you guys use brush soap? I got an expensive brush for Christmas but I have no idea how ot properly care for it
>>97265991That doesn't look like craft paint just really messy edge work
>>97265999Yes I like it. It makes the brushes smell nice
>>97264978Because the tape I use to make these extra bits doesn't bond with plastic glue.
>>97266006Sure thing craftsperg, keep melting, like your shit painting.
>>97265985It's kinda funny how you were melting at that guy thinking it's all one person but now you're doing the exact same thing lmao. Just go touch grass brother, it's obvious you don't paint any miniatures.
>>97266025>it's obvious you don't paint any miniatures.so now I'm not craftsperg? make up your mind.
>>97266025>meltingif youre going to samefag you should try using different insults
>>97266025It's different when anon is correct.
>>97265042these are very cool anon, I'd be really happy with those. I might even give them names. Reminds me of the trailers for the first dawn of war
>>97265999Its pretty straightforward. >rinse brush in cup>rinse again in clean water at the end of your session>take the damp brush and gently swirl it in the soap to build a little lather>gently swirl the lathered brush in your palm a few times>rinse out the lather in your clean water>repeat if especially nasty>one final clean rinseIf you have a tip starting to curl>take some clean lather into the brush>gently pull your brush along a crease in your palm while twisting the brush to help shape it>leave the lather in to condition, rinse it out next time at the start of your painting session
>>97266053>only one person on 4chan uses this widely popular termpicrel, I'd post a screenshot but you're just going to come up with a different cope so I'm not even gonna bother>>97266068>n-no you see it's different because I'm, I mean he is correct!picrel
>>97265577I "prime" a lot of my models with regular ass tamiya, mr hobby, apple barrel black from walmart, sometimes I even use India ink.
>spergout starts at almost the exact same time todaycalled it lmao, can you start ignoring him already
>>97265954Nice stuff anon>>97265991Craftsperg doesn't own models don't be an ass
>>97265999I use soap and conditioner on my natural hair brushes and my nicest synthetics
>>97266225Admitting that you're glued to this thread 24/7 isn't exactly a win anon.
>>97266266Being a normalfag who is NOT terminally online is ten times worse.
>>97266266neither is arguing with shitposters yet here we are
>>97266190Thanks for the tips anon, I'll make sure to take good care of this thing
this is my first time trying out edge highlighting. Hmmm... maybe I should use a more vibrant blue to stick out against the base blue?
>>97265135I mean there's an article where they talk about it in one of the Citadel books. It's glazing with black ink, then selective blotting and cleanup with pure white. You can see the coffee-stain circle on her thigh from a bubble they used for atristic effect
>>97266306No worries, enjoy it. A brush that feels good to use is a treasure, and even when it can no longer hold a tip it is useful. A soft nice brush with a frayed tip is excellent for drybrushing in small areas.
A small band of dwarves is finished and ready to reclaim Moria.
>>97266308What you're doing there looks more like volumetric highlighting than edge highlighting, but yeah for edge highlighting you could go a little brighter. The shade on the fingers and the top of the left knee looks good though I can't tell if that's actually a different shade of blue paint or just the same one as your other highlights overlapping better with the highlights of the actual lighting.
>>97264846Update. I need to do the transfer next..>>97265403I'm not sure. But the black im going with is basically this. It's got a bit of some bluish grey midtones, but yes more iron looking I suppose.
>>97266413Don't ruin all that freehand by adding a decal.
>>97264863Source for the chaiwanese werewolves?>>97264914Same
I had to push out a three hour painting session but I got my last model of the year finished on time.
>>97266556With interior
