do you guys use battle armour much?
>>
>>97267202
My group has politely requested I bring BA less than I do.

I'm trying to make a single Star of a few different clans, for flavor and painting fun
besides the Adder, are there any clan mechs that just scream Clan Star Adder to you?
This surely isn't because I received some clan boxes over the holidays that I don't know what to do with
>>

Blood Asp (Star Adder)

:)
>>
Will spraying some vanish before painting a resin 3D prints help? Right now the print lines make the surface too uneven? Not sure how should I call it.
>>
>>97267202
I'm going to in an upcoming campaign. I feel like swarm attacks are a bit of a pipe dream due to taking three entire turns to pull off if you're not using hidden unit rules.
>>
>>97267492
They only take two. You spend one turn attaching, then start inflicting damage next turn.
>>
>>97267202
I've never used battle armor. Plenty of conventional infantry.
>>
>>97267555
You also have to spend one getting them into range unless the enemy is particularly braindead.

Ok, thank you
I guess I'll do one for Blood Spirit then
but I haven't looked into them at all yet
>>
>>97267342
Tell them you have brought ASFs instead, and then once the game starts, reveal that they are Kirghiz Cs and airdrop many Battle armor on top of them.
>it was funnier when they couldn't airdrop BA, but I'm glad they patched the rules to allow it
>>
>>97267202
Too much
>>
>>97268160
Why couldn't they air drop BA? That's literally in the TRO description.
>>
>>97268250
Because the rules specified what kind of units could airdrop and ASF wasn't one of them.
>>
>>97268250
Theere are 2 differences between a cargo bay, and a passenger bay/compartment. The latter includes life support for it's occupants (a bay is indefinite, a compartment is something like a week), and it also includes the ability to deploy the carried unit while in flight. That's the only difference. A cargo bay has neither of those things. Basically the entire reason to take a passenger bay instead of a cargo bay in a game is to allow for airdrops.

The Kirghiz C was written before passenger bays/compartments existed. Therefore it's got cargo bays on the record sheet. Therefore, for a very long time, it was legally incapable of dropping it's BA while in flight. CGL didn't want to alter the Kirghiz record sheet to give it passenger compartments because they don't ever change sheets of possible. This entire bullshit is why NEA got the Troika 6MC published, which actually includes a BA compartment.

A few years back, they finally issued a rules errata that allows jump-capable infantry and BA to airdrop from a cargo bay. So the situation is fixed. But for a good while it was stupid.
>>
Was the engine heat sink change when battledroids became battletech or 1e to 2e?
>>
>>97268687
Battledroids is 1E. Battletech is 2E. That's always been the naming convention. So both statements are correct.
>>
>>97268687

Those are the same thing. BattleDroids was 1e, and then it became BattleTech 2nd edition when the boxed set was released in mid-1985.

>>97268288

Good write-up.
>>
>>97268288
Cargo bays can act as infantry bays on vehicles now? Aww yeah. Does the same apply to dropships?
>>
>>97268767
>Cargo bays can act as infantry bays on vehicles now?

That was the original intent. You ever see a Goblin?
>>
>>97268783
Does that mean there's now a lot more interplanetary infantry delivery options? A lot of Small Craft would finally be able to get guys from a moon to a planet without a bigass Dropship.
>>
>>97268832
Yeah. Also, infantry are treated as a liquid for the purpose of cargo storage
>>
>>97268845
Can you freeze infantry to keep them fresh then
>>
>>97268876
Worth trying
>>
Are these roughly similar scale to BT?
>>
>>97268900
Should be, but you never know unless you get them to compare.
>>
>>97268767
>Cargo bays can act as infantry bays on vehicles now
Cargo bays can act as infantry bays ONLY for the purpose of air-dropping jump capable infantry and BA units while in flight. If the infantry isn't jump-capable, you cannot air-drop them. Cargo and infantry bays are not now interchangeable. If you want to fly in from a jump point and air-drop your jump infantry platoon from a cargo bay, all you'll deploy is corpses with jump packs, because cargo bays still don't include life support.
>>
>>97268900
Yeah, those prices are insane though.
>>
>>97268900
They are, yes. I like GHQ stuff. I use some of their infantry and a few vehicles.

>>97268915
The tanks are 4-6 packs and the infantry come with ~40 models
>>
>>97268900

Other way around. BattleTech minis are made to scale with 6mm GHQ minis. That is literally why 1/285th was chosen as the scale that BattleTech uses. But those minis should absolutely work with any Ral Partha minis.

Now, whether they're in scale with *modern* BattleTech minis is an open question, because of the total hash they've made with the scaling recently (particularly of infantry). 10mm sci-fi infantry would probably serve you better.

Regardless, though, expecting perfect scaling is stupid in a hex-based game anyway. The minis do not actually need to be accurately scaled to within 0.001" of true for them to be viable game pieces. People need to seriously relax about whether a mini is perfectly "to scale" or not. Almost always, it'll be good enough, unless you're playing against a WAACfag. And if you are...then stop playing them.

>People need to seriously relax about whether a mini is perfectly "to scale" or not.
fuck you and kill yourself you fucking self righteous faggot
>>
>>97268915
It's not actually that bad. it's still high but it's a pack of minis. very high detail minis.

Can I have Jump infantry platoons equipped with marine combat suits?
>>

Oh that's very reasonable then, I thought it was for a single model/squad.

can inner sphere battle armor ride allied mechs like their elemental counterparts? Since IS mechs aren't omni capable, how would I go about mechanizing IS BA? Specific equipment on the BA?
>>
>>97269052
Two options
1: The IS makes their own OmniMechs, such as the Owens, Raptor, Strider, Avatar, and Sunder. They can ride those
2: Battle Armor can be built with Magnetic Clamps, which lets them ride non-omni mechs at the cost of slowing them down. The Capellan Fa Shih is the best

Are you having a giggle mate?
