Anyone play it yet? I like the "rustic fantasy" setting. The core rules seem interesting, it has more mechanics and gameplay than most other narrative games. I enjoy that it doesn't have moves or whatever to confine you, you can actually play your character and do whatever you want. It's got enough knobs and options in terms of resolution I feel like it's actually a real game despite having that more story focus vs simulation focus. And I like that the DM has all the traditional power of the DM and there's not like "Fate Points" or something else that gives players control to change stuff.
Thinking I might try a short game for my table, just a few lower powered sessions. It also has good tools for a solo stuff which is interesting.

I think it looks cool as fuck and want to GM it, but I'm waiting for them to properly finish the setting book first. They're still playtesting it.

I already bought both the core edition and ZAMANORA, which is supposedly compatible with it.

So, yeah, can't tell you anything about it other than I am also excited to try it out. Definitely the newest RPG that most caught my attention in the past couple years.

I'd be willing to check it out. City of Mist got shilled a lot but that setting never appealed to me.

As a player I found it confusing and scattered. Every character has different key words as stats, which makes it hard to know what to roll and when. Want to check if there is an ambush up ahead, should I roll using “never gives up” or “attention to details”. If you make a tag too specific you will never use it, too general and you use it for everything.

I've never played it before--no one has--but I think it's a shill post.

A "shill" post?

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. A general thread generates advertising revenue by keeping posters locked in autistic and meaningless arguments; a shill post refuses to buy an ad.

>Want to check if there is an ambush up ahead, should I roll using “never gives up” or “attention to details”.
...that seems like a pretty fucking obvious one.

I know in city of mist, it recommended that broad tags should be a limited building thing. So for example "cunning" was too broad and can be applied everywhere, but "cunning negotiator" was fine. It's effectively a charisma check. Need to double-check legend in the mist. I like

You know how charlatans would have an accomplice in the crowd so they can start an argument that makes them look honest and reliable? That’s a shill post.

He's accusing the other guy of being here to advertise the game, partially because the Cool Kids throw such accusations around all the time and partially because it allows him to feel like someone gives any kinds of fuck at all about what he thinks about anything.

I think the idea is that you want know the kind of game you're playing, as a group, going in. So you have a general idea of what kind of tags will come up. I think this helps emulate genres pretty well - most heroes have characters that are relevant to their stories.
They also mention a process for using additional actions to leverage more general tags. So while someone with "shadow magic" may be able to use that for stealth right away, maybe they need to take an action to set up using it in a broader context - say something like finding a hidden object in a dungeon or making a disguise so they can't be recognized (things that could reasonably fall within shadow magic, depending on how you define it, but aren't immediately clearly applicable.)

OP here. Id discourage downloading the pdf illegally. There are quick start options and plenty of info on the official YouTube! You can know if it’s for you without stealing!
