Even playing as defensively as possible you can often lose a dude instantly. Base game so far has been fun and flavorful. The Assassin expansion adds assassins that do not synergize with your GK and take up XP/slots from them and the Techmarine DLC is pretty awful. Techmarine is horribly weak and the Dread is only usable on like three missions.

A lot of those stories are of questionable quality though and much of their fanbase doesn't care for their portrayals of the faction.Dark Eldar get the benefit of piggy backing off of existing Eldar lore though since they share an origin and having an actually good novel series written by someone passionate about them who also wrote their codex and was involved in their total overhaul and redesign in 5th edition.
