Hmm that's interesting, I mean I wouldn't personally want Marines to be the joke franchise either but I feel I could write something at least mildly compelling that shows the Eldar in their previously powerhouse state without making the Imperium/Xeno factions they defeat look inept. >>

That's a blatant lie, he's just a shitty author. The Path of the Dark Eldar series, in one of the books an entire host of Nurgle marines invades Commoragh and it's treated as a minor nuisance/fun event where the MC Archon and his retinue casually blast them to pieces while being irritated that Vect put them in charge of such a menial task. That entire series shows that you can easily portray Eldar as cool and compelling protags that aren't jobbers.

Old art is superior in every way. The faux impressionist art style used in contemporary 40k art is trash. I hate how the backgrounds are always blurred and undefined. The old art used to stoke your imagination with the backgrounds. Today it seems like the focus is 100% on the characters because the art is simply meant to advertise the miniatures. It's trashy and soulless corporate slop not real art.

After playing it for a few months now I've come to accept the new Dark Eldar codex sucks mega balls. It conceptually and thematically appears really good but when you play it you realize the entire thing is just the index except now all your unit abilities cost a resource that is not easy to get consistently, so it's just a flat nerf to the entire army for no reason. The Wych Cult detachment is pretty good but "pretty good" within the context of this codex means barely average when compared to every other army. Even Skari has been consistently losing in all his battle reports lately. I think I'm gonna shelve them until next edition and hope GW doesn't make them garbage right out the gate like they did with 10th.

Imagine playing against a DE player in Crusade, with them talking up their Warlord's backstory and how they're somehow 11/12 adter working so hard, so you narrowly throw the game and give them the 12/12. Those who are chosen get taken and must hold vigil for 3 days, not allowed to sleep, if you fail you're "taken away and never seen again".

Then they get implented and put into the coffin for a year

Nah, it's a fucked up interaction but that is how it works
Titus charges, lets say Lelith or Jain Zar who have Fights First.
He dies
Fights on Death is not considered a normal activation. See if a unit has fights on death and only some of them die - the unit still gets to fight with the remainder. Titus uses his special Fights on Death and Revives
The Titus model revives in engagement range and has not been selected to activate. So Titus can be activated and fights again.

It's the same reason Hellblasters can double shoot - all rulings point to Titus being able to double fight. Fights on Death is never considered to be actually fighting. So if Titus charges and then gets killed on the clapback, he cannot fight twice, but if he is charged or goes up against Fights First, he gets to double-tap.

Boltgun doesn't take place in the Warhammer universe. It takes place in a "real world" setting as the found floppy disc game project of a childhood Warhammer fan. The creator of the game seems to have begun collecting during second edition and by the late 90s had developed a (presumably) Doom .wad based on his Warhammer hobby. The name Malum Caedo (Evil Slayer) is a reference to the main protagonist Doom Slayer of the Doom franchise. The over the top performance and accolades of Malum Caedo are supposed to represent the fanboy interpertation of a self insert/your dudes character and are additionally tipped off by subtle in universe lore discrepancies with the Nurgle x Tzeentch team up and Black Legion CSM inclusion because those are the models he had growing up.

Malum Caedo isn't in the 40k universe proper he is a fan character depicted in an officially licensed Warhammer 40,000 video game.

So unless he gets charged by an infantry unit and gets killed by precision, it's just flat out worse than any of the non-conditional 2+ revives that a bunch of other characters have. Realistically, it's occasionally gonna happen once per game, rarely twice, and never ever more than that.

it lets titus skullfuck a couple of factions, a solo titus can go up against Jain zar, Lelith + wyches or Drazhar + Incubi and just win and there's not really anything they can do with interact with him
He's a unit that certain armies just 100% cannot charge, it's all the issues with Fights First only it's on a unit that hits and wounds on 2's and without the normal FF counterplay
Ultramarines also have perfect access to fallback and charge, meaning that Titus can always control when he is in combat.

Imagine being Drukhari. You send your marine killers to kill some marines and Titus activates Tarpit.EXE and kills half of your incubi with 16 sustained hits 2+ 2+ AP1 dam 2 attacks, and cannot be killed so you can't venom reimbark. Certain armies just cannot interact with Titus meaningfully.
>>
>>97287745
titus solo can run at a brick of 6 BGV + a judiciar and kill 3, and then during the other player's turn (if they aren't running gladius) they have to choose between falling back from this solo titus and wasting a turn doing nothing or dying again because Titus will just do the same thing forever

Titus is actually tanky enough that you on average don't kill him with a precision dark lance scourge squad - which means you have to get an early bead on Titus with both a ravager and scourges and also not run foul of the gladius reactive move and also hope Titus completely mispositions (when he has a free redeploy)

Made me actually look at what all the Ascendant Lord actually loses when he gets killed and all the territories are lost.
It's just a bunch of boosts to crusade meta-progression which you won't miss by the end of Crusade anyway. You'll have already gotten all the benefits you needed out of them. And you get to pick and keep one relevant one anyways so you'll just pick whichever boost you still need like lethal hits or the free weapon upgrade for your new lord.

They're artfag drukhari. They believe in delayed gratification - a slow building dance that erupts into a single violent moment of utmost ecstasy. Suffering is all the sweeter after it has had time to mature. They are often seen wearing flowers that slowly fade away, a rare display of nature's passage within the Dark City.

Slaves captured from raids are treated relatively well for a number of years, often finding life as a prisoner of the Kabal less horrific than their older life as hive-scum.The slaves grow content, perhaps even forming a twisted attachment. In some cases, they are even permitted to serve the Trueborn children within the Kabal.

But it is a lie. From the moment they are captured, Hespor seeds, cultivated from Death Worlds and modified by Haemonculi, are implanted within them. These plants burrow into the central nervous system, laying undetected for years or even until the parasite is triggered. Other archons pay to watch the show - each nerve ending, imperceptibly consumed and replaced by the plant, begins to thrash and writhe. Thorns burst from these tendrils, shredding the flesh of the slave from the inside out in an inescapable carnival of agony. As the flesh sloughs away, all that is left is a still-living brain, the eyes, and a bloodied skull trailed by long thorned vines. The parasite keeps them alive for days in this state, each tendril as raw as a nerve ending. Some Drukhari take these still living skulls into combat, the font of agony as potent as any combat drug.

When the other slaves ask what happened to their kin, they often find a single Kabal member adorned with a fresh flower and a content expression, and get told to not worry. And the skull upon the Drukhari's shoulder gets to watch, suffering in the throes of torment as the seeds are implanted within their fellow human slaves - their last moments filling them with despair as they realize that every slave will suffer the same fate and the good times were a lie.

This is going to have to get errata'd to once per game. It will simply be too strong otherwise. Each of Titus's Human cronies has 3 wounds and the two Space Marines have 4. The 6-man Bladeguard unit each has 3 wounds. And Titus himself has 6.

So that's 6 + 12 + 8 + 18 for 44 fucking wounds and you need to eat up, potentially, 32 of them before any particular model dies. You have to shoot this fucker for 44 actual damage to get his fat, 24 OC Blob ass to get him off the board if they're standing in the open. Or find a model with Precision shooting to kill Titus out of the middle of the squad. Assuming you even have access to one of those AND your opponent ever lets them see Titus.

And that's IF Titus fails his FNP5+ on every single wound.

This shit is going to get nerfed for sure.

The original decadent nobility who founded the city of Commoragh were long ago displaced by the upstart gangs and former slaves that formed the first Kabals. With the hierarchy of the city brutally turned upon its head, only the most clever and ruthless survived to claim the bloodsoaked spires rising above the city. But not all of the old blood died, and some were patient and crafty enough to bide their time and reestablish themselves high in the food chain, even after being marked for prey. The Kabal of Shattered Majesties reappeared many centuries after the Dark Muses made their play and claim unbroken descent of pure Trueborn blood from the old empire. Their enigmatic leader, Archon Maleum Xarxes, came from nowhere and was unknown to the city before his sudden return. Their most unusual practice is recruiting not from the city itself, for such dregs are tainted in their eyes, but by abducting initiates from Exodites and Craftworlders who have never been touched by the soul tithe.
Their initiation right is to be tested in the Labyrinthine Lathe, an ancient hunting ground of interwoven webway realms as vast as a dozen worlds and marked by ruins of the fallen Aeldari Empire. It is maintained and prowled by the closely allied Wyches of the Cult of the Fractal Fugue, who tirelessly hunt and prey upon their victims until they lose all sense of self and the distinction between predator and prey becomes meaningless. Those who survive emerge with new purpose and take their place among the royals. The failures are delivered to the Haemonculi of the Coven of Iterate Perfections, self-aggrandizing flesh artists patronized by Xarxes to create enhancements and serums specifically tailored to Trueborn Aeldari and monstrous living sculptures of beauty apparent only to their alien sensibilities.

>>
>>97288374
They mention him leading Bladeguard which are 170 per 6.
Company Heroes are 105, but I'd imagine Wardens of Ultramar will probably be 90 due to no Wound roll reduction.
Cato and Uriel are both at 95, which is likely where Titus will fall as well.
So we're looking at a 13 model 365p brick of immovable melee assrape
>>
>>97288374
Well lets see, he staples sustained hits to a unit, shoots twice with a normal bolt rifle, then starts spinning violently in the fight phase deleting infantry on a charge, then 60% of the time he cracks-back if killed on fights first or when charged, spinning violently deleting infantry and getting to do it again the next turn if he kills one.

GK are actually pretty bad in the IA army. The best list is 1x immolator, 2x BSS, 3X breachers, 3x rogue trader entourage, 3x subducturs, 3x sanctifiers, 2x Deathwatch vets, and sprinkle in vehicles like armigers, rhinos and chimeras to taste. You have so much incredibly tanky OC for the cost you have one of the best objective games in the game.

GK are kind of a meme internally lol, too expensive and rarely get to regenerate a marine

I haven't really done a lot of math on character hunting, but if other armies have shooters like my Firesight teams, we'd be plinking at him on 2s, he'd be saving on his 4++s and 5+++s. At 3 shots a phase, we're hitting with 2.5 of those shots and he's saving half of those down to 1.25. He FNPs a third of those, to an effective hits of .75. On the hit we're dealing 2 damage, so in a perfectly average world, 4 rounds of shooting from one 60 pt unit.

Its not great odds, but if you have 2 on the table, you're looking at zoning him out entirely of 36" in 2 turns. I'm sure other armies have better anti-character than this. If you're not going to shoot him out from under his squad he's footslogging 6" without a transport, so shooting his metaphorical horse out from under him and forcing him to hold just one objective seems like as good a plan as any.

Don't get me wrong he's nutty in melee and I'll definitely be checking charge distances with him on the board, but I don't think his points are going to high.

Stargiven Vigilants

>A macabre tradition, the chapter makes use of personally bonded servo skulls for each battle brother. When a Coal Heart dies and after their geneseed is removed, they are prepared for their final journey. Before the final dispatch of their remains, a fallen brother’s skull is removed and prepared ritually for service after death. The name and service number of the fallen marine is stamped on a golden plate affixed to the skull’s forehead. Eventually servo skulls are made from the preserved craniums of these fallen Coal Heart marines. The sacred ritual where this takes place is followed by a special dinner for the fallen marine’s squadmates and chosen successor. During it their brain is divided up among his brothers and eaten, giving them all pieces of his memories and life through the Omophagea. In this way vital knowledge is preserved across the generations. Lastly and with solemnity, the body of the dead marine one is lowered into a ship’s reactor core where it is incinerated. Certain highly venerated brothers have their bodies fired into the sun of Oracleus Minor where they become part of the Starbinder’s firmament itself. The machines act as personal scout and support devices for full Astartes, symbolizing legacy and ongoing duty.

A Coal Heart is bonded with their Stargiven Vigilant shortly after receiving the black carapace. Occasionally they are donated from the Neophyte’s mentor when the neophyte is reading to become a full brother. The mentor then requests a replacement. Some of the Vigilants been passed down through millenia of service and are noted for having overactive machine spirits. The marines are expected to give their Vigilant a personal name, often based on the task for which the skull is specialized. Slimlight for an Auspex drone, Rubyfang for a combat specilized skull, or Bloodkeeper for a medicae model.

Even in death, duty knows no end.

Several hundred years ago, sedition and decadence overtook the values of chivalry and loyalty on one of the most powerful knight worlds in the galactic north. The sedition and heresy were eventually revealed by one of the most respected lords of the planet, prompting a civil war and inquisitorial intervention that lasted for several years. Unfortunately, the power of the traitor knights was too great, and they had the love of their people, which secured a powerful manufacturing and manpower base. Imperial command suspected that it would take decades to retake the planet with the few assets left in the system that hadn't turned traitor and were considering that most terrible option, Exterminatus.

All plans came to a screeching halt in a single terrible night. The leader of the traitors, who had forgone all other titles and renamed himself the One True King, gathered millions of civilians and thousands of knights together in the capital city. Encased in his great warmachine, which was draped in robes of flashy purple and gaudy yellow, he announced a grand tournament in celebration of his coronation to determine who among his servants were worthy to serve him. Declaring the start of the tournament with a single, long, and strangely warped blast from his warhorn, he immediately began laying waste to all in the city, including his inner circle. Footage from the conflict shows his machine moving with otherworldly speed as it bested other knights effortlessly while maddening laughter followed everywhere it went.

Thanks anon. I guess I was thinking in general too. Just a neat project idea to convert a full army. Like I've seen Kroot riding seraphon, lego ice votaaan, crazy traitor guard and things like that. Trying to find a project to keep me going with not-marines that isn't a gigantic miniature investment.

The entire planet fell into a revelrous slaughter, completely disarming the planet's air and space defenses as they put out a distress call begging the Imperials to send aid and save their dying world. Many inquisitorial operatives on the planet fell victim to the slaughter as blood-crazed weapons of war thousands of years old lost all sanity and butchered all they could find. However, there was some resistance on the planet. The house of the lord who had originally revealed the conspiracy had survived by going into hiding, and they emerged in their full panoply of war. Though their Duke had long since been executed, they remained true to their chivalric vows. They had arrayed themselves in one of the minor spaceports, hiding their knights in hangar bays and shipping vessels while the decadent new royal court focused on other matters. They protected all free from the slaughter-lust in their spaceport, working to evacuate untainted civilians via orbital transport to loyalist merchant vessels above. The traitor knights, taunting and conversing via vox even as they hunted each other, heard of the resistance of the Duke's followers. They began to converge on the spaceport, emerging out of the foggy swamp wastes for hours. Screaming for honor duels and fueled by blind ambition, they burst from the mists that covered that gloomy world.

Though valorous to the utmost, the assault was brutal and unfair. Despite this, the 11 remaining knights of that unnamed house achieved an enemy warmachine kill ratio of almost 6 to 1. The butchery continued for 3 solar cycles until the very last machine stood standing on a field of metal corpses. Missing an arm, their carapace torn open and with mobility disabled, it was the Duke's own knight that defeated the false One True King himself. They say it was a one-sided fight until that last, and that the words exchanged between the pilots drove the King of Madness into an ever greater fury.
