Oh yeah. CA did use the symbol for Katarin's Ice Court faction.
They could still use it in TOW for their ice maidens though, since it's supposed to symbolise the 'Lore of Ice' rather than a personal heraldry.

finished my converted orc doom divers. very happy with them.
for anyone curious, i'm lucky enough that my brother has a 3d printer and he printed out the catapult and the sling for me, but i kitbashed everything else. all the bodies are from 40k orks, most from the generic boyz kit but a couple are leftover bikers (the orc bullies). the bullies have a chain weapon from the ork bikers and a whip from a runtherd. all the legs and choppas are from the fantasy boyz mob, all the sitting legs are actually the boar rider champion option and the others are just normal boyz bits. i used twine and greenstuff to make the rope and hook, the greenstuff work is pretty shithouse but it looks okay painted up.
now i am aware the crew are not on the correct base sizes, however i am not a WAACfag and i'm sure it won't be an issue when i play with mates and let them know in advance.

I don't know why HE/DE can't have their old characters now, I would imagine most of them are already alive by the time TOW is supposed to take place. Mostly because I have few DE models and Lokhir, I adore his model and am tempted to develop them into full army eventually.

Working on arguably the main centrepiece mini for my entire orc army; the Giant. I've been freehanding some of my regular opponent's banners onto his pants, as if he's just ripped them apart to wear as clothes. Pic related is a Nuln banner, it's meant to be a pair of crossed cannons with a wreath around them (the cut off part of the banner is on the backside of his arse). Umming and Aaahing over trying to do a scroll that says NULN over the top, but I worry it might get a bit busy (and my freehanding isn't that good).

20, 5x4 with additional hand weapon is how I run them. You don't get the extra attack on supporting attacks so it's usually about max attacks for charging while keeping some rank bonus so you don't get rezzed to death. Last month had the unit hold up three tree-kin for three turns, dishing out 5 wounds before dying to a flank charge.

I have autism, so I hyperfixated onto one from the get go to the point where collecting other armies is unthinkable and would rather restart collecting the same army again after selling it or collect different iterations of the same army

If I were a more functional type of autist I'd probably collect multiple small forces of different armies instead, selecting the models in those small collections very carefully and regardless of what's good rulewise, instead of trying to cover all bases to be more flexible and competitive

it's difficult if you haven't played the game much but you should pick the one that you enjoy the playstyle of the most. At the end of the day how an army looks or it's lore won't change how much you enjoy playing it, only the rules do that. For a first army all of those options are good though.

It's literally just the first one that looks awkward, that arm is very clearly supposed to be holding a sword. No one holds an axe like that, the arm abducted and extended wide. Kislev won't be till next edition, rumours only have it as far off aka not this year. Even legacy armies like ogres don't seem likely anytime soon, we are looking at a pretty barren year, we will probably see Cathay wave 2 by late Jan, chaos additions by March, a couple journals and then the new edition teased by the end of summer.

Outside of just the army books, it depends on the faction, the old Heraldry books are good for that, but they only cover Empire, Skaven, and High Elves.
Some WFRP books can also work as the Salzenmund splat book goes into detail about the city's army, including their unit composition and what their banners for each unit looks like and symbolically represents, but again WFRP is almost exclusively Empire focused and when it does look at other races like the dwarfs or the lizerdmen doesn't really focus on the military aspect of them.

Elves and dwarfs still have farms and fences. They might not be as shabby as human fences, but theyre still fences. The norse also have fences (and farms), so WOC can also use them. Hell, even greenskins might have fences as a means of marking boundaries or for squig pens and the like. Skaven would have fences, but more for underground slave pens and the like.
Vampires have fences because they live in human lands.

for construction of the force, what you've got, add in a couple lords, if you can find the old metal gyro 1 or 2 of those, some slayers, and some grudge throwers and that would be a pretty normal well rounded dwarf force of the time. also probably some warriors and quarellers or thunderers but i think even in 6th edition those were already plastic, you'd have to go really far back to get metal versions of those

i dont really remember 6th edition all that well as far as list building requirements, i played it for 5 minutes and dipped out cause i dont like rank and flank games

if you need warriors and are okay with the plastic ones, the battalion comes with an absolute shitload of guys for the price. just be aware that the moulds have degraded somewhat so they have really bad mould lines and mould slips, so some of the parts have pretty egregious gaps slips that will need to be filled or shaved down respectively. but if you're already willing to put in the level of work needed to deal with metals, that shouldnt be too big of an ask

Flat terrain is truly the bane of a good looking board, it was one of the things that turned me off of the Ice and Fire miniatures game, and my opinion has not changed since then.

The old ones really were watching- my opponent miscast turn one- which he rerolled the result into a undispellable miscast bleh .
My turn I attempted a fated dispel and got rid of the vortex. Freeing the way for my skinks, one unit caused an archer to panic, clearing the way for the other to shoot at the lone wizard- who despite being a skirmisher in a forest suffered like 6 wounds as a deadly volley of javelins silenced him for good.

In the following turns the saurus charged the knights, whiffed annd took 1 wound and spent the entire game fighting in a stalemate.
Meanwhile my opponents main force of hellblaster, handgunners and engineer remained. I postured behind buildings till I could run skinks saurus and cold ones at the same time - the skinks and saurus turned to paste however the engineer ensured good shooting from the 18 shots rolled in 2 successive turns .
However I attempted the desperate and stupid- I charged my full command cold ones into spearmen - I gave ground and slowly began grinding them down, 2 turns later they broke and panicked the hellblaster and engineer- and worse were caught. The empire ran from the field here. Praise be to Sotek.
It was a pretty fun game. I like it he battlemarch restrictions honestly.

Hills,aka books underneath. Spraying pattetern like some dirt paths or dead/slightly darker grass also helps break up the big green. Otherwhise I highly reccomend making a few crops out of cheap yellow rubber backed mats. Just throw some of those on a good chunk of your table, one Matt sufficiently cut to pieces will make heaps. They are stiff so hold models and trays- easy to store and look super cool. I made mine have furrows by pressure spraying lines in them but that’s just me. I’m sure they’d work without it. Here’s a pic.

Anon, as a fellow autist I wouldn't sell my old army, but rather expand on it. Go for the 100k points in a decade, or plan a contingency plan to rebase them for other ones if (or once) TOW dies in the far future.

I doubt we're going to see anything substantial for a while besides maybe Kislev if they want to 'risk' it releasing already. We might get some new plastics for one of the factions- I'm only seeing Empire and Orcs & Gobs' kits sell out on the store, so maybe one of those two will get something new. I doubt they want to burn their fingers on the mess that is Empire right now, considering people that buy those miniatures probably prefer a specific older art style that doesn't mesh well with the art style of the rest of GW's catalogue.

Most of what's actually published about Fantasy is in the catbox files in the OP.

The TOW stuff isn't really altering anything big about the Empire - we know the political landscape has changed a lot over the Empire's history. If anything it's weird that it's changed so little in 2500 years.
The only issue is why the fuck they made Sudenland part of Wissenland rather than the area traditionally considered Sudenland - i.e. the land between the Upper Reik and the Soll.
Also Ostermark being part of Middenheim's lands is weird because Ostermark and Talabecland are joined at the hip for most of the Empire's history but whatever.

Most wfb players seem to play a specific faction because they like them, not because they do well at tournaments or on the table. All Orc mobs that dont go for spears or 2 choppas get bows for free. Skirmishing 10 orc units with bows do fuck all. Bump up the numbers on the boar boyz with the saved points, and giving big unz to the boar boyz is very good. That way you have a better cavalry punch, AND still have archers that can also brawl in melee with your two 20 orc blocks. If you don't want that for themeing reasons it feels like you don't really need our feedback, it's a fine list especially at that points level.

That's my group, we all recently came from 40k and saw a bunch of geezers playing ToW at our local store. We ended up playing, but because 40k is much harder and more competitive in nature we usually just mop the floor with all these old fucks with relative ease. I hope more 40k people start playing ToW because the current group of old boomers suck ass at the actual game part and seem like they just want to show up and waste valuable tabletop space in the stores when they could just play their retarded meme style at home or something.

I was one of those "old geezers" at the game store. This guy and his gang showed up with matching outfits and played music for themselves to be "introduced" into the game facility. They had "hot" girls dancing in front of them (stupid sluts) and they kept saying their catchphrases, and they had their HIRED by the way girls put their models down on the table and move them while we were playing. It was very disrespectful. And I won't even go into what they started to get into on turn 3

Anon, "being played a whole lot" and "does not have a very high overall W/R" are actually linked.

WoC being the most played faction is going to be depressing their win rate because the likelyhood is that a lot of those players are casuals, rather than hardcore sweats. Same for OnG.

Armies that are played by only a relative handful of dudes can perform much better if those dudes are generally competetive minded players.

That is a very interesting take because skirmishing 10 ungors with bows consistently punch up. Orcs get light armor and longer range. Does quick shot on the ungor bows matter that much? I do know for sure that ambush is worth more than shields at the same pt cost tho.

That's fair feedback, I don't mean to disregard advice, its more of if the list good "as is" or are there trap choices im flagrantly making. For example, my first army which is WoC is *filled* with trap choices, where with Orcs it feels more things are in the spectrum of viable. I understand mass archers in blocks with melee is top shelf, but on the flip side, perhaps im playing too autistic.

Playing against VC fucking sucks. Do a rez army and you just grind your opponent down and they really don't have any choices
TK can do this too but it generally feels less oppressive, for some reason, but you can do some ldship bomb builds. I had a game where my Stormvermin fled from the catapult special ammo, rally, march forward then get hit and sent running again for the entire game.

But I'm a skavenfag so I usually feel like I don't have choices but I hear complaints about VC from many people

I wander why VC may feel more oppressive with the resurrection. Both resurrects their undeads with the same mechanics, mages and models prices and stats are almost the same (+\- 10 points), etc. Only thing I can think about is - TK models are just worse defensively - everything is flammable, infantry has 1 less armor, no Drakenhof Banner's analogue, no "Newly Dead" units, etc.
