I don't know it for a fact but I'm confident there's a book description out there that says Kharn is especially large for a marine. This shit always works on ork logik so the named characters are the biggest around.

It is a joke about his model, aenon. His model got refreshed before the world eaters range got released with new berserkers. So he is comparatively short since he did not get scaled up with the rest of the faction.

Suddenly I'm angry for some reason.

How do I beat Leagues of Votann? Ive played against them post codex thrice and they are really strong
There are a boat load of them
Just playing the game means their rules easily give them +1 to hit
When they get -1 to wound to their infantry they It gets frustratingly annoying to get rid of them
The Thunderkyn have really really good
shooting. Will Tear apart anything in shooting paired, if lead by an Iron master they proceed to get 4extra bodies you have to eat through.
a 6man group + ironmaster is just 235 pts
Cheap 5 man infiltrators with proximity movement lmao
Bikers are fast and can mince through infantry
Standard Troop carriers hit harder than you think
Steel Jacks can rip through your infantry and can hit on 4+ on overwatch, also are terminator hard to kill
Land Fortresses holy fuck, this everything you wish Land raiders were
>>
What if we had Sisters of Battle on bikes?
>>
>>97298509
Okay, we know they are going to fuck up the dark elda refresh but how badly are they going to fuck it up? Like what all do you think they're actually going to try to change to smooth out all the edginess?

I think the idea that Titus has been given a blank cheque to fulfill what is essentially a campaign slogan made up by Guilliman is pretty funny. Feels kind of weird that the main antagonist is Necrons though considering they were already the poster antagonist of last edition, but its still pretty cool to see them and their refreshed minis.

I can't decide if I want to buy world eaters or necrons for my first army. Which is more fun to play?
>>
>>97298520
It is purely because they had a big ctan model that they needed to refresh and came up with a narrative reason for it. Just because. That's all it is. It's not about making a good story, it's about selling a new model that they wanted to sell.

>>
>>97298527
Necrons are unironically Reddit coded. Go with any other army.
>>
>>97298508
Im only guessing and maybe hoping but Badrukk is arguably more famous and has been around for longer than Ghaz. Add that to the fact his model wasnt even that bad it did seem strange for him to randomly disappear this edition. With the recent pirate themed additions coming soon it makes me feel like we will get a new Badrukk model. Just a hunch nothing more, I dont play tournaments so Im not that bothered playing him as legends but I feel he'll come back
>>
>>97298520
Who else could be the poster antagonist, really? Orks are getting all of the attention next Edition and Eldar cannot pull it off since they are flirting with being friends if the Ultramarines now. The only real option is Tau and I don't think they want to start pushing the poster boys against the tau unless it starts creating some uncomfortable questions for everyone (except for Cato Sicarius for whom there is no question he cannot answer).

well we live in the age where people only listen to things they want to hear and believe it without checking
so people would just make shit up about it and because it's something they'd like to hear they'll believe you

I could go to the LGS and say some shit like "the 40k show will be set during the 500 worlds" and they'd believe me
I could then say "and it's being written by the same person who did rings of power" and they'd call that bullshit and fake, as it's not something they want to hear

Primarchs are a small and insignificant tale in the legacy of man. Our ages have reached far beyond their grasp, and in these dark days their flaws are basely exploited. I am not going to say they should be removed from the setting, but keeping their little role in perspective goes a long way. They have a small part to play in the great war. And it certainly makes the normies vomit money into our hobby.

Inquisitor Nathanial "Whitecloak" Marov befriended the Jokaero after saving the creature from members of the Dark Mechanicum who wanted to enslave it for their dark purposes. It now accompanies the Inquisitor wherever he travels, and has since improved and recrafted much of the Inquisitor's now entirely custom suit of terminator armor.

Well-to-do upper and middle class aren't just the target audience, they're also the only people on /tg/ nowadays especially since this board has the largest crossover with Reddit out of all boards on 4chan. Nobody in these generals ever talks about homebrews, yourdudes, or any form of real original content. It's just all about buying the new expensive luxury corporate slop from a company that barely tries anymore. The boy's club matters more than what made the boy's club worth joining in the first place.

You can have a decent amount of the water on a beach table be shallows that infantry could move in unimpeded. It's not 100% accurate to how people would move in shallow water IRL but it'd work. Alternatively you could dot the water with small modular islands and walkways.

These dudes are a little cringe but they built a pretty nice beach table:

>>
>>97298855
depends
sharp edged casino dice are better and more random but only if you're throwing them a good distance and letting them roll
chamfered dice are better and faster when you're throwing dice a short distance into a tray since they won't take as long to stop spinning

White for bright (yellow, white itself, pink)
Grey for centrist (you really can't go wrong)
Black for darker colors (I like it for a metal focused model like lots of armor)

You can also prime the color that will be the majority of a model, good for space marines

Painting 30 neophytes for a total of 70. Painted the first batch of 10 yesterday, began painting the guys in the middle. Got some characters 3d printed but they're kinda ass and I don't really want to paint them.
I kinda fucked it up during the assembly, for some reason I thought sub-assembly would be better so I just primed everything then painted their armor with an airbrush, not realizing I had paint on where the arms would go. I applied plastic glue on some and much to my dismay they're fucked. I used superglue on the rest but their arms are not properly aligned etc.

White for bright colours. Black for dark colours. Grey for schemes with light and dark colours. Coloured primers for laziness/speed
>>
Eldar boy feet
>>
>>97298952
If you want your model to be mostly bright colors (especially if you want plain white in your color scheme) use white primer
If you want your model to have colors that are dark to the point of being nearly black (or even black proper) use black primer
For everything else you can use grey primer. When you are unsure where to start go with either white or grey as it is easier to darken your model than to brighten it up
Also if you use black primer don't use GW's Chaos Black as it is low quality and messes with the colors you apply on top of it. Better alternatives are Army Painter matt black or AK fine primer black
>>
>>97298952
Depends on what the color/lighting is going to be like on the model.
If you have to ask, just use black.
Anything you leave unpainted will just appear to be in deep shadow.

It's kind of a cuck answer, but the ones you think you'll enjoy painting the most. I personally would be chomping at the bit to paint a Lord Discordant and a Venomcrawler, but you might feel differently.

Everyone told me to stay away from admech, but all it really did was make me buy a bunch of tyranids because they were "easier" and then go into admech anyway. Maybe it was for the best because these guys would be pretty frustrating to do as someone new to the hobby.

Make carnifexes good, James you fucking cuck. Tyranids were good for about 3 months out of the past 3 years. Meanwhile, Eldar has been a top 5 army for at least half the edition.

I'll be honest, I love the look of the current GK and the idea of them getting an "upgrade" similar to the launch Primaris and some of the newer stuff kills my desire to play them. >>
>>97298510
From what I understand, their biggest weakness is that they're too "fair." Votann play the game of warhammer, and their strategies of doing so are front and center the entire time. They don't have a lot of tricks. Their combos are obvious because X hq is only allowed to attach to Y squad, which will allow them to have Z ability. Y squad is always starting in the transport in order to split the group, which is always going to scout toward their expansion, blah blah blah. Their army rule basically always switches modes at the exact same time because outside of one detachment, they literally can't spend Yield points fast enough to prevent it.

So, while they're strong, they're predictable. It's up to you to take advantage of that.
>>
>>97299313
realistically what’s the worst that could happen?
>>
>>97299554
Middle/center of lower floors must be solid and impassable. Reaching to the middle of the table, when there's another table balanced on top with models set up was a disaster. Also needs enough clearance for you to move models around. I think any physical staircases talk up valuable space and make reaching things a pain, so those are out.

Well for me it could be linked back to my social medias I've been using since I was a teenager and my Warhammer 40k fanfics could be discovered. Along with terrible 40k artwork I made on Deviantart.
Along with unsavory things I have said in the past due to being a stupid teen at the time.

I have made some tables already but if I were to make more and I had no real budget limit I have a few ideas. Some are more practical than others but I like my tables to be looks over function.
>Ork shanty town on an arid world Streets, mekshops, stores, Da dropz full of stinky ork shit, the whole shabang.
Probably my most practical idea and the easiest one.
>ocean board with ships, debris and big waves.
Stupid and not good for games but I like the idea of a battle at sea with ships ramming into eachother, smoke plumes, fire and huge waves.
>forest with ruins of an ancient temple. Big tree with sacrifices, altar, cobblestone or tile floor that gets swallowed up by nature, moss, statues, big trees, leaves on the ground, early autumn
Might be more fantasy but I like what i like
>daemon world made out of skulls, blood, gore and bone. Weird faces and structures. Eyes, teeth, hands etc.
I think it would be fun.
>>

>>97299573
Wat are you on about shops for
>>97299565
Means I don't have to remember any of them, and when some fag is shitstirring I just flip through my timestamp folder until I see similar writing or the same models and then you just dump it in the thread tell him to fuck off and walk away and that's where it ends.
>>
>>97299571
I really wish you had pictures of your battlefield to show me. I would imagine something like, not quite 2d, but near. A sideview of a starship's hull, maybe 6-8 inch depth, and the action is just a massive fuck corridor. But is that really fun? Again, I am lost on if the gameplay translates.
>>
>>97299583
ork shanty town would be so cool and the ramshackle nature would make it pretty accessible.
>>
>>97299586
Oh nothing really, I manage one now and I hope to open my own some day. So ye, I think it makes sense to keep track of baddies in the space, just in case they ever show up they can get shown out, that's all.
>>
>>97299586
Well it looks like blocky text timestamp writing is off the menu as you'll think everyone that does it is the same person.
Generally people would use that kind of writing to hide their actual writing.
>>
>>97299587
Even if I took pictures I wouldn't share pics of my lgs. If it was my own table then sure, but I'm not blowing up my spot on 4chins. Also I really don't have any more advice for how to make it fun, like I said before, we all thought it would be a lot of fun but it was logistically a huge problem to play on compared to one tabletop
>>
>>97299603

Honestly they all sound beautiful mate. I would say that your, to my interpretation, pagan deciduous forest board sounds the most interesting by far. I think I see a lot of boards set in this climate, this space, but not with this sort of pagan temple idea. Very interesting.

Lord Inquisitor Millina Corvich, Ordo Malleus Master #148/169 currently heads up what is simply known as a Redaction Force. A force which, in her opinion, has been far too busy ever since the formation of the Cicatrix Maledictum. She is garbed in some of the most advanced Aegis equipment available to the Inquisition, with hexagrammmic wards and a purity matrix laid under simple cloth and leather. Her mask is a unique mastercraft combination of psychic hood, iron halo, and complete tactical hololith display. She is responsible for removing any trace of the daemonic left after an incursion by the archenemy into Imperial territory. With roughly fifty members of the Grey Knights 7th Brotherhood at her command the work is often quick and efficient, be it as simple as underhive gutter rats addled beyond saving by dark events. As complicated as entire cults left remaining after their plot has succeeded, or even rogue greater daemons wandering the ruins of a former Imperial world.

One such deployment found the Knight world of Gremania utterly consumed by a warpstorm and well on the way to becoming a full daemon planet. It was here that by the grace of the Emperor one last loyal metal steed was discovered battling its way through the wastes. When the Ordo Malleus cleansed the world it fought alongside them and after the campaign of purity, was given a rosette by the Lord Inquisitor. That gift then calmed the raging machine spirit and ever since at the end of every battle the tech priests and serfs add a trinket, reliquary, icon, seal, or banner from the remains of the battlefield to the knight's carapace. Now the last survivor of House Gremania is sworn to the Lord Inquisitor until it finds a battle suitable for dying in, to join his lost brothers who are with Him on Terra.

I think it is because I built up a backlog and finally I've been shaken out of spending so much money on this side of the hobby.
So I guess a combination of the price and the backlog has made me start to think that it is best to hold my wallet.

That and having bought some 3D printed bits to enhance some guardsmen (just Cadian gas mask helmets as I hate painting faces) made me look at 3d printers more because the prints came out well from the Etsy store I bought from.

This is Syn, currently my favourite model in my Deldar force.
Haemonculus Syn is young, by the standards of her people. having only been a fully-fledged Haemonculus for 700 years. But she is ambitious, gifted and utterly remorseless. Syn has risen high within her Coven very quickly, too quickly, in fact. She has proven herself as good at making enemies as she is at advancing her station.
Several "accidents" have resulted in her death across the centuries but she is skilled enough at avoiding death to shame even some of her elders. Syn, for better or worse, is a rising power within the twisted, mad heart of the Dark City, despite the efforts of enemies and colleagues both, and many figures both mighty and craven are keeping a close eye upon her storied career.
Pictured with her are the Aberrant Failures, test subjects and experiments that proved disappointing or unimpressive that serve now as bodyguards and meat-shields for Syn upon the battlefield.

Money is not the problem, it is the fact that even with an Ebay/Amazon discount, Combat Patrols are $140 USD or more for 10-20 miniatures. Newer Patrols lack large vehicles or things that make it feel worth the price - for me at least.
>>97300196
I have quite a backlog myself and rescuing old/used stuff via Ebay really opened my eyes to the massive markup on 40k minis. All that money spent for what, a few games a year? Four or five hours of one player moving/shooting while the other halfheartedly pays attention while playing with a phone? I do not even enjoy the special character spectacle of modern 10th edition either.
>>
>>97300208
>Several "accidents" have resulted in her death across the centuries but she is skilled enough at avoiding death to shame even some of her elders.
I should've written this better lol I'm very tired. I meant it to mean she's skilled at avoiding "true death" as in the 100% no-coming-back death all Haemonculus fear.
I love the fact that in lore powerful Archons and such, along with the older or wise Haemonculus, can pop back up after death if someone does a horrific enough murder-fuck-orgy-ritual in their name.
It's a part of their lore that makes them even scarier and more like unnatural monsters stalking out of the shadows, rather than just pale spikey elves.

Slowly working on getting together more lore. Have a bunch of quotes and a big blurb for all my guys. Also been doing a short story as well but only about halfway through that so far. Here's a quote from my warlord though

"It took them from us.
Why must we forget.
That wretched thing whispering in our ear.
Speaking over every prayer
Showing us monsters in our closest allies.
Baring their fangs as they spat fathers words.
Our weapons jammed, and misfired.
Nothing but bare fist and blade untouched.
Why.
Why did you take them from us.
Do you not know what we must do now.
You should never have crossed us foul beast.
We will find you.
The scent of our brothers blood is on your blade, and ours as well.
We can taste it in the air with every breath.
You may have forgotten them
You may have forgotten us.
You will remember us.
We will remember them.
If no-one else will"

You could do that. But you'd need to have it stable and strong enough to hold up minis to the very corners as well have the terrain on top be mounted secure enough that you could pick it up and move it. Would work okay for scenarios where youre trying to make it to an entrance to the bottom layer by a certain turn or meteors/gas/whatever fall and kill your guys. Make it both players have to get to the opposite board edge by a certain turn and limit models deployed on the lower levels but place all your objectives on the lower table. Then it's a scramble to get your guys reinforced for the second game so that you have the upper hand on objectives. There is also the logistics of having it be at a good height that you can reach the center of the table on the top layer, but isn't too short that you're leaning over it(this sound like something you can tough out but we played on the floor the one year for a huge apocalypse event and everyone's back was destroyed by the end of the day and one guy fell onto his own models trying to lean over and move his dudes.). You can also look towards necromunda vertical tables for inspo, but again, those really work better for skirmish stuff

The wych cult is more of a burlesque murder show than arena fights and the victims generally don't know they're victims until it's too late. What are your wishes for 11th?
I've been reading a bit on AoS and there are some interesting mechanics there that I'd like if they jumped to 40k. There are ways to debuff targets when they charge you, which I think is interesting because right now in 40k anything that is intended to charge only cares about Fights First because everything will die on the charge.
The new Nurgle stuff for example has ways to move the tree which provides buffs to nearby units which might be cool.
I also just want the Psychic phase back. Removing it was one of the worst decisions they ever made. Psykers just add a cool layer to the game, I really like how the Psykers of a faction would share the powers from their faction and you got to pick them.
I also think it would be cool if they explored more battleshock and the ability to turn off opponent buffs. I think being able to disrupt your opponent's "this is my deathstar with 15 buffs that will wipe anything it looks at" combos could add depth to the game.

Significant point increases across the board. Armies are too big, a 2,000 pt army should be like 25% fewer models than it is now.
Bring back the Psychic Phase but rework it a bit so armies without Pskyers can do stuff with it, like prayers or whatever.
Make Admech good. They shouldn't just be Guard but even more expensive and time consuming to paint. A Skitarii should be noticeably better on the battlefield than a Guardsman. They should have the largest point increases of any army, and rules to match those new, much higher point levels.
Bigass Dark Eldar refresh. Like, starter box army size refresh. That is the absolute minimum they need

It's still funny in context even if the pic doesn't faithfully relate the scene. But be real, even if there was no intent for it, it's very easy to read about Asmodai staring into Cypher's glittering eyes as a little bit gay.
>Asmodai looked into the shadow beneath the hood and saw Cypher staring back at him, showing no signs of amusement. There was the faintest hint of a glitter in his eyes; a reflection of a gleam from Asmodai’s armour, the Chaplain told himself, nothing more. Asmodai pulled the prisoner away from the Dark Talon as the stasis cell closed and the engines built to a roar. In half a minute the craft was gone, returning like the Thunderhawk to the final battle for Streisgant.

>6th Company, The Embershields:

>The Embershields possess an extreme love of fire even for adherents to the Lucis Technica. With branding and furnace related rituals common within the company. Formerly the Falling Stars, the company name changed following their intervention on the world of San Tlacala in 227.M40. Invaded by a tiny splinter fleet of Hive Fleet Behemoth, its defenders soon found themselves overwhelmed and unable to contain the tyranid beachheads. The tyranid fleet had become weak from travel and immediately descended onto the world to begin turning its beautiful mountain forests into biomass. Facing little resistance in orbit the 6th made planetfall via drop pod and began systematically burning down the ancient forests the tyranid bioships had overtaken before backing off to let the raging inferno serve as a shield. Leaving behind mines and specialized auspex sensors to watch for burrowing organisms. Over a two year campaign they were able to contain and eventually eradicate the tyranid infestation. The firewall made from the never ending forest fires they used to cordon off the tyranids giving them their new name.

>The 6th has served alongside the Black Templars on a number of campaigns in the Ghoul Stars region. Adopting similar traditions and working together amiably despite their differences in terms of faith. During the drop at Kydov they were scattered through the city’s industrial district which had been turned into a grotesque drug production facility on a colossal scale. The 6th company spent much of the battle being assaulted by waves of industrial workers and chemical abominations. Eventually the cataclysmic violence inadvertently triggered a chain reaction, destroying the entire district and killing most of the company. Badly damaged during New Kydov they have since been largely rebuilt. They are led by captain B’o’fa Diaz, recently promoted at the time of New Kydov. He is a particularly devoted adherent of the chapter cult. They have heartily embraced the Gravis armour recently made available by the chapter’s forces. Squads of Flamestorm aggressors bearing the sigil of the 6th are a common sight in the combined company forces of the chapter since the great rift.

>Since the Great Rift the company was also the primary force present at Hexos during its fall. There B’o’fa led his warriors to help defeat the early tyranid assaults in the highlands of the planetary capital city. They also managed to secure several inquisitorial blacksites long enough for important documents, personnel, and relics to be properly evacuated despite attacks by a hidden chaos cult. In the end however they couldn’t stop the rising Necrons of the world and were forced to evacuate following several failed attacks on the Xenos. Hexos was then bombarded but the Necrons weathered the assault and now hold the planet in its entirety.

I think it's supposed to be a little funny. That'd be my immediate impression from the way the scene is written. But there's a crowd who always respond like that any time a marine character does anything.

Yeah that's rather obvious. There is nothing piratey about new Eldar Corsair. Nothing that would make you look at them and think it's a Space Pirate Elf. They are just a merge of Deldar and Eldar aesthetics, which admittedly looks sick and would make a perfect sense for Ynnari range. Now that they repurposed them for Corsair Kill Team, they just follow this same design with new models to make them look consistent.
Which utterly cucks Ynnari, since they have no niche left anymore.
