So, to explain my thought processes. As previously noted in the old thread, I very much enjoy the early-early worldbuilding of Naruto, where it's soft implied that Shinobi are elite specialists that inhabit a wider ecosystem - hired by nations as assassins, thieves, bodyguards and other esoterica. Rather than what the setting later became in Konoha Crush, I like the idea of Ninja Villages being organizations rather than synonymous with their Nations. Following that, I also found it cool whenever Monks, Samurai, and other non-Ninja Chakra Users turned up. I also liked what little we got of the Second Ninja War, with Amegakure doing everything they could think of to try and repel vastly more powerful Great Nations.

The summary of that comes with essentially three vibes;
>Part 1 Powerscaling, Ninja are extremely spooky elites to normal people because they can transform, go invisible and control minds but aren't necessarily village-busting supermen
>Decoupling the setting slightly from Shinobi to account for Samurai, Sohei and other Chakra-using weirdos while still having a significant focus on Shinobi for people who want that, a consequence of this is introducing 'mundane,' armies and people to the story so that characters can simultaneously be highly flavourful super specialists that beat normal people silly without needing to be the White Fang
>Second Ninja War WW2 vibes of war being hell, especially with Ame deploying biological weapons and being forced to surgically augment its own people to keep up with crazy batshit like Hyuga and Uchiha

Importantly, I was considering a game where we're not all playing generals, kings, kage or whatever as heads of the conflict, but are components of it, to really sell that elite specialist vibe.

The intentional dichotomy of Ame's alliance and the Great Nations is essentially New Blood Upstart Technologists vs. Ancient Wizards, if less extreme. The idea being that the Great Nations' long-standing traditions in using Chakra comes across as mysterious, mystical and supernatural to normal people. Amegakure, meanwhile, in their desperation, are doing their best to industrialize warfare and grab at any grimy source of power they can - freed prisoners, mercenary units, hastily augmented supersoldiers and what few native Chakra-users they have being forced into the grinder to try and deal with the Samurai and Shinobi being flung around by larger Nations, using their technological advantage (late 19th century, ish) wherever they can.

The ultimate vibe is a collection of the world's schizos, from vengeful refugees and odd Chakra-wizards to Shinobi turncoats and the aforementioned prisoners, mercenaries and supersoldiers have been collected by Ame - allowing for people to make varied character concepts - going on the defensive against the usual stuff we play. I feel like this consequence is the biggest and most important one. That really kinda changes the scale of things. There's a certain disconnect I feel from having random bandits we can murder to actual armies being fielded by both sides from the peasantry. I feel like untrained bandits employed as cannon fodder or ravaging weakened farming settlements is the happy medium. It becomes really, really silly when militias are involved.

B-C is the intended medium. With C being super special forces compared to the mundane forces and B being the ones with known names. A-Rank would be a little high for the vibe but permissible on occasion.

PC C-Rank Chuunin is probably Chuunin Exams Rock Lee and Dosu (Rock Lee isn't a higher tier so much as dumped all his points into fighting), with Gaara being out of our league.

I don't think that's a real problem, and we didn't even have that many marines last time. The whole feel of One Piece is very much not about competition, even with the marines you get friendly rivalries pretty often.

My main problem with scrapper was that my idea of the setting was very different from the rest of the thread, and by the time I got some ideas for the right vibe it was already dead. I wouldn't mind some sci fi, depending on the kind of setting, I even have some good faceclaims prepared for it that would fit. But good cyoas for it are rare, and I would prefer something a bit different from scrapper.

Chunin is also just more fun if you're going to run nardo for MP. Child soldiers being used in a mostly nonlethal proxy war (that ultimately becomes lethal) to maintain peace between the nations as essentially WMDs checks a lot of boxes. You get built in conflict, blood feuds, clan politics, training arcs, friends to rivals, enemies to friends, etc. And all in a central location for the anons who insist that this is a necessity.

I kinda want a sci-fi MP. Dunno if there's any good cyoas for one though.

I don't really re-read my stuff because I think about it for a while before I write it, so sometimes my work could do with an edit.
