You ever just host a session which goes so bad it makes you want to quit ever hosting again? Holy fuck, save me bros. I'd rather get dressed down in front of my whole family than live through that kind of shame again.
>>97310417You gotta storytime it fag.
>>97310417You really can't expect us to help or relate without some context. I play with friends and friends of friends so it's almost never been an issue. The one time I had a game that was just fucking awful, I talked to the other players and GM about it, said I was having issues with how flakey people were while having the longest commute, and ended up leaving when nothing changed. It was a group ran by a friend of a friend and I have no regrets leaving
>>97310417>You ever just hortle turtle?>Hurtle furtle, dordle bros.>I'd rather get burtled durdledThis is you
>>97310417Has anyone not? It kind of comes with the hobby, running bad games occasionally. It's a skill you develop after all
>>97310417Yes. Fucking teleport is not an instant reflex action thing. If I am aiming my gun ready to shoot your mutant ass and you teleport in my line of sight then I should be able to pop you before you can teleport again.
>>97310417
>>97313859>>97314890Nah lads, it wasn't anything worthy of a storytime. I simply stuttered through it like an autist and fucked up all my story beats. Sucks too because it was my first time in the GM seat. I feel like I've pissed away months of story prep and "what if x" contingency plans.
>>97315268>>97315268Still vague. If this is a confessional, we need to know how and where exactly you feel you fucked up, cause there is a 95% chance your players didn't notice or care.
>>97315268You shouldn't be prepping your story months in advance.
>>97315268> Sucks too because it was my first time in the GM seat. And you expected to be good at it?
>>97315268Did your players seem miserable during the session? It's not rare for a first time GM to be overly self-conscious and to be keenly aware of every little mistake, even ones that don't really bother the players at all. Even if thing actually went bad in a way your players noticed too, eh, it's not a big deal. It was your first time, mistakes are bound to happen. First time I ran a game I had a super-special, completely overpowered half-dragon NPC literally force the players into a fetch quest the characters otherwise had no reason to be interested in. I got better, you will too, and if you actually had something worth running figured out you're off to a better start than I was, no matter how badly you bungled the execution.
>>97315268>it was my first time in the GM seat>>97315300 says it concisely. The first game I ran was nearly a TPK because I didn't know shit about how to balance encounters. You'll get better
>>97314882That's a mechanical systems issue. Whatever game system you're using should have clearly defined mechanics regarding the action economy of all your characters' abilities and attacks, along with targeting and line of sight rules. It's not up for interpretation. There is no "should". And the fact you used "should" right there, tells us that you were the one in the wrong.
>>97315268>fucked up all my story beats>months of story prep that's because you're doing it wrong. Sessions don't consist of story beats, they consist of monsters and traps and dungeons.
>>97310417No one on this board has ever hosted anything.
>>97315268story beats? I thought you said you were running a game?
>>97314882Teleport is an instant reflex action, get dumpstered bitch
>>97315268You should read the lazy DM’s guide. When I used it for a mini campaign I got all my prep done in an hour or two.>>97319643Speak for yourself you social reject
>>97319751Nah I speak for you, bitch.
>>97319755I’ve hosted before, what now cunt?
>>97319807No you haven't.
