This is a general for toddling, where you can talk about AD&D 2e, "old school inspired" pseudo-clones & other general non-OSR games. This general is separate from /osrg/ due to them having nothing in common.

thanks for the thread

whats your favorite AD&D 2e setting?
>>
Finally, some good fackin' /todd/s.

>>97315586
For me, it's got to be Al-Qadim. All the sand of Dark Sun but with more genies and arab titties.
>>
>>97315601
I've never looked into it because, frankly, I don't like a certain culture and religion. But I'm curious what you like about it. Is there anything worth stealing in there that I might port over to my campaign?
>>
>>97315519
If this stays up, I pledge not to shitpost and contribute to the discussion constructively. I invite all fellow first decade fags who also want a space to discuss adjacent games like AD&D 2e, NuSR, or Dragonlance, and stuff like that to do the same.

Let there be peace between gygaxfags, NuSRfags, litefags, storyfags, CAGfags, ACKSfags, and FAGfags. This is my wish for the new year.

Thanks for coming to my fag talk
>>
>>97315627
Wise words. DCCfags should be welcome too.

>But I'm curious what you like about it.
I just like the Arabian Nights, so of course an Arabian Nights based setting is also good. If you don't you don't. vOv

There are really cool things to take inspiration from pre-Islam. In particular zoroastrianism is fuckin' awesome.

What about POSRs?

>>
>>97315519
This a troll thread made to try and push all stuff a handful of bad actors on /osrg/ dont like out of the general. No actual discussion is intended here, its purely a place for them to shitpost and say
>"uhmmm 2e is LE NOT OSR because we said so, kay? Now go to /todd/"
Ignore and move on.
>>
>>97315627
We have a place for that, it's called /osrg/, you just want to push a narrstive on what is and isn't OSR. you made this thread purely for trolling and offtopic timewasting.

Let's see...
>The innovations and various concepts of OSR design persist, but it no longer has a center, instead consisting of a variety of smaller scenes and styles that I broadly lump under the term “Post OSR”, or as Prismatic Wasteland and Papers & Pencils called it “POSR”.
Sure! You're welcome to!

I think its a good test bed.
If any of the various shitfit anons of whatever the hell has been going on for the last few months are legitimately interested in talking about their games they can do so clearly and carry on with life.
The anons that are interested in squabelling about board culture will be shown to just care about that.

>>97315860
See there's at least 3 of us.

>>97316136
This is just the next edish of the previously misnamed free general! Are you saying no actual discussion was ever intended in it?
>>
>>97315793
There are cool things post Islam, too. >>97315608 sounds like a fag.

/thread.

>shut down the free general
How about no.
>>
>>97316136
How many fucking times does it have to be explained to you that it doesn't matter whether or not something is "osr"?

Do you think Shadowdark and knave belong in /osrg/?
>>
I'm amused to note that the retard making these threads has finally learned how to spell addition properly.
Fishfag is one of the most painfully ESL boneheads on the board.
Word on the street is that he's a former janny who is going buckwild over getting the boot
>>
>>97315608
baka if your settings ruins don't come from an ancient assyrian based culture.
>>
>>97318721
True, pre-Christian middle Eastern civilisations are based and interesting. But isn't Al-Qadim based on Islamic stuff instead? I know Ylaruam is pretty explicitly inspired by that.
>>
>>97318694
>addition
jej

I think it's pretty clear this thread wasn't made by the same dumb nigger who kept calling them OSRG though
>>
>>97319789
lol i used VTT for that post, the irony isnt lost on me.
and idk who made it, but even the fake osrg is spelled "free edition" now. dumb and gay

Faerun to be honest. I like the 80s high fantasy it struck in those splats.

One setting I've always been curious about running is 1e's Kara-Tur. I think there were interesting ideas for other motivating factors and modes of play. Honor provides another carrot to incentivize activities, like gold and xp. The idea of PCs having land and titles to deal with seems neat, as do the court skills and the way the Yakuza class had his own parallel system for running the criminal underworld. I think Zeb Cook had some really interesting ideas, but I don't know how they work in practice.

>>97315601
I've had this idea of using a trading hub on a fantasy silk road as a campaign hub for that sort of East-meets-West crossroads.
