>>97319589I'ld get myself a set but the hard part would be memorizing all the pieces....that and I already got a Riichi Mahjong set a week ago.
>>97319867>memorizingBack when people didn't know better they were okay I guess, but game design has moved on and they make sets with movement marked on them instead of the silly antiquated kanji version. That people have figured out that you can mark movement on pieces or you can use icons based on chess pieces rather memorise about a dozen moonrunes means a set like OP shows is something you can move on from too.
>>97319847I played that board game so many times during my childhood to the point I started hating it. And I still hate it to this day.
>>97319589I looked up that board. Anyone here prepared to buy it with its mismatched wood for the pieces, printed not carved not even impressed kanji, mystery wood for the board described only as native Japanese wood not a specific species, and possibly worst of all the mdf komadai for the $150?I don't object to any of those things and I'd use them myself to make stuff, though last time I made shogi pieces I cut them from one plank and the pieces in order so you can see the grain run through them, but that price is over the top for a beginner's set of that quality.
