No, this isn't a thread about "how can I do souls in ttrpg", because picrel is how you can do it. What this thread IS is about this game in specific, and how it can be used to cover aspects of the Soulsbornering games that it doesn't already cover, as well as seeking knowledge from people who have played it already. The game itself is on 1d6/2d4 if you're not aware of it. I've run some test sessions of it and the combat system works, if a bit weirdly. For example, it's too easy to just rollspam through attacks, and certain classes and equipment don't fully match to the game content they represent. For anyone who actually gives a shit, I'm working on an automatic sheet in Excel as well as a few fixes of my own - namely letting Fire Keeper start with the Coiled Sword which they can use as a weapon and catalyst so they're not completely defenseless out the gate. Additionally, prototyping Parry as a mechanic as well, requiring a 6+ Dice whilst wielding a shield or Parry-compatible weapon which inflicts a set amount of Stagger so you'd have to stack Parries on bigger enemies in order to get a full guard break. I'm also prototyping a nerf to Dodge given my earlier complaint about rollspam, making the Stamina cost increase per use in a round until it reaches 6.
>>97321452>I'm working on an automatic sheet in ExcelI've heard a rumour there's already an automatic way to play Dark Souls, it's so advanced, it's like Excel but it also makes pictures so you can see what you're playing as well. I think it's called a "viddeeyo game".
Never tried this out as I didn't know this existed, I was wondering if there was anything like it. Will take a look at it when I find the time, but how does it deal with the concept of dying, enemies respawning and all that stuff? Also, mechanics aside, it looks like something that really relies on both the GM and players to be into it to come out well.
Make sure females are more intelligent/magical than the men. That's what Miyazaki believes. Remember, no male has reached 70 intelligence according to the lore of Elden Ring.
>>97321452Make dodging get more difficult in a round the more you use it. Like it gets a a cumulative penalty until the round resets, so you can dodge the first attack, maybe the second, and then it probably starts getting too expensive.
>>97322229>Will take a look at it when I find the time, but how does it deal with the concept of dying, enemies respawning and all that stuff?Bonfires are still important because thats where you rest and level up and stuff, but also there is an entire 'bonfire phase' where the group is encouraged to tell stories to each other around the fire for bonuses or to exert a small amount of narrative control. Hollows that have 1 or more Humanity look like people, and humans will treat them as such. Hollows without any Humanity look like zombies. At character creation you have to write down three key memories for your character that are deeply important to them and define them as people. If you die while human, you can sacrifice your humanity to respawn without cost. Otherwise you have to permanently delete a key memory, forgetting it forever. If you have no more key memories left you become a mindless hollow and cease to be a player character, instead the GM is encouraged to have the now NPC version of you show up as an enemy in the future. Certain kinds of deaths are extra dangerous, like getting turned to stone which just flat out kills you and you can't respawn until someone cures you. But basically the idea is that humanity is a shield that lets you die without consequence, and you *should* be regaining humanity over time by stealing it from enemies or beating bosses, but it is possible for you to die too often and go fully hollow.
