If I want to compare that build to, say, a build focused around precognition, I have to comb through every one of those sections again. By designing the CYOA this way, even basic decisions like this (shapeshifting vs precognition) become incredibly arduous to actually get to, and that's really bad because that's the main feature of CYOAs as a medium.The nature of these mechanical bonuses also seems to push samey builds, with any competently made build being a few strong powers and a bunch of minor powers to supplement. There's really no option for the 1-2 powered specialist builds that (imo) make for some of the best super hero designs.
