What sci-fi setting has the best Space Rome?
>>
>>97336278
It's definitely not 40k, since they've just got Space Catholicism that uses latin and the occasional bit of roman aesthetic.

The Marian Hegemony being a banana republic of slaving murderers who dress up like romans is at least good because romans were also slaving murderers, so that's the candidate to beat at the moment.

To be fair, they've been a legitimate nation for a while, and have a pretty great refit industry for the Periphery, so there's that.

40k is fantasy, anyway.

To be fair 40k also has the Severan Dominate, who are much more rome coded

The Trigan Empire. What do I win?

i would say a blame like mega city would fit well to a roman cifi setting.
Maybe i only say this becouse i work on my own world/system build in roman asteatic.
Its aims to have a roman social and cultural aspects dialed to 11.
Single centurion ordering armees of robots, wealthy patricia sheltered in marble bunker.
Hordes of indebted slaves and genetically optimized beast servants.
criminal organizations with a mythical and underworld template.
all neatly packed (or so i hope) put into roman halls of decay.

hopes this help you. Overall X in space is one of the easyer things but keeping it on point can go hard.

honorable mention to homeworld and the Taii dan. They could fit what you seeking even better.

Renegade Legion. The Roman Empire is reborn and goes to the stars, creating a huge interstellar empire. It consisted of a number of games - Centurion was a sort of more complicated version of Battletech that used supersonic grav tanks protected by forcefields instead of Battlmechs, They also had a Fighter game and another involving fleet action between km long battleships. You played as either troops of the mighty empire, or rebels/aliens fighting against their oppressors.

They still raid their neighbors for slaves and raw materials. They've just gone from a bandit kingdom to a semi-legitimate state that still gets a significant amount of their income from piracy (or I guess technically privateering, since it's state-sponsored).
I also find it hilarious that they only exist because some Irish space-pirate found a motherlode of germanium (the material JumpShip drive-cores are built out of, so it's valuable as fuck), used it to become filthy rich, and started his own kingdom where he insisted everybody must wear togas and call him emperor since he was a massive romaboo.

Privateering pays off, at one point they managed to steal a shipment of Marauder IIs, stripped out all the advanced tech and strapped a bunch of rocket launchers in their place.

Unironically the Domain of Man from starsector lore
Hyper Expansionist
Hyper Militaristic
Threated their soldiers like expandable ammunition
Conquered most of the known galaxy
Became the foundation of culture across the known universe
They left behind many great works such as massive stations and technological marvels that are irreplacable

Warhammer 40k hardly uses Latin in a competent way. It's like when the Japanese try to use Christian themes because they think they look cool, but in this case it's even more embarrassing because they're English people failing to insert their own European themes.
>>
>>97340258
The Angloid has always despised the Roman, even as he uses the faint remnants of being conquered by Rome and adopting Rome's ways for legitimacy. Everyone knows the Angloid would love nothing better than to strip away the veneer of civility and paint himself blue and go rape his neighbour and steal his cows.
>>
>>97338481
And when they broke apart they left a squabble of little nations(though granted that took a little bit for rome), so that matches too.
Also fuck pathers and FUCK the hegemony.
