How long has it been since you've touched this CYOA? Hasn't it been a couple years? Jeez.

I'm a free spirit, if I wake up and decide to randomly update a 10 year old cyoa, that's what I'm going to do.

Cool lich by the way.
Honestly kinda jesus-coded. You serve El, but the populace hates you? You're going to get lynched and 'miraculously' return to life, aren't you?

I was thinking somewhere inbetween militant Buddhism and peaceful Islam. If God was a real and active force, and some guy with a garbage reputation somehow was blessed with healing. I mean, I would personally reassess my hate of necromancy, I don't know about you.

The natural state of the world is a dense wilderness. For the ground to yield to cultivation, the land must be in agreement with the institutions. That's why when, for example, a lord's evil brother usurps the throne, there's draught and famine, until a rightful heir is returned to the throne.
Anything that requires a human tender requires a noble bloodline to consent to that tending.

But there are edible plants that are not crops. Bramble bushes and mushrooms that grow in the wild and can be foraged for. You could modify those to give you a greater yield, but you wouldn't have them in neat rows in a garden. They'd be spread growling freely across a section of wilderness.

I'm gonna be honest, bruv.
If I were a paladin, I would NOT care that you're wearing priestly garbs or that you're offering me water.
If I'm strolling up to an evil lair, I'm probably the one starting combat, and I'm taking any attempt at diplomacy as deception, or heretical delusion.

Maybe if you defeat me first and then show mercy we can have a little story beat where I'm surprised to find you holy.

1. some spells really just serve to trivialize everything interesting, don't they?
2. how's Radiant? I skimmed it but it seems to me like there's not much variety in terms of flavor. You can have a specific loadout, but any build is going to have the same character concept more or less, am I wrong in that?

>Plan:
After we kill the enemies from the drawbacks, we will loot enough resources to greatly reinforce the Abandoned Ruins and be able to live openly without fear. Bodyswappers with a retinue of other stealthy minions will be our agents in the outside world.

Suppose that the enemies are more than we can handle, escaping and obtaining new identities are easy. Changing appearance and switching bodies are child's play for me.

interesting, is this one of the high nature spirits from the drawback causing this?

what happens if you cultivate the land by force? Is something preventing me from Ploughing the land? Can a conjurer just turn the land into a mass of elementals they plant crops on?

what would happen if I subjugated or killed the high nature spirit?

What about not land based farming like hydroponics?

Quite intimidating, isn't it? Horror with a slice of humanity to evoke the uncanny along with the typical body horror. Works wonders in conjunction with an actual psionic attack. Far reach and many limbs are bonuses.
>>
>>97367452
The way its made is very similar to their other works
>>
>>97367491
All the things explained by particle physics and microbiology in real life happen because of spirits in this setting, so you can't make plants grow by setting the right material conditions, you have to get the plant's spirit to induce it.
Mages can do some stuff with individual plants on that front, but not like a whole field of crops to sustain a community.
And yes, if you're accursed nature itself is against you, so you can't rely on the wilds as your home.
>>
>>97367529
so what would happen if the nature spirit got killed?

>>97367529
If I take the nature spirits from someone elses land could I double my crop?

>>97367505
So, besides being a body horror, what do you want? You've amassed all this power and made the world your enemy in order to... defend yourself against the world you've made your enemy?
What started all this? Do you want to take over the world, or do you just want to hang out with your intelligent plant bros?
>>

>>
>>97367722
Why wouldn't there be?
>>
>>97367722
Yes
>>
>>97367654
I want to take over the world indeed, but hanging out with intelligent plants and other things is also a goal, one that can likely only be accomplished after world domination. Everything ought to be intelligent and animate. The sky, the ground, the stars—everthing. If it weren't for the lack of time and resources, I would have made every individual in my swarms intelligent.

I am the culmination and physical incarnation of the mankind and his perseverance in the face of a super universe. I have only that of a normal human, scaled up - no supernatural powers beyond the ability to nullify the unnatural and bring them down to my level, and two representations of mankind's persistence: I will never be cowed by fear or alien effects, and I will rise again to fight no matter the force that puts me down. At some point in the future, the cosmic heart of Earth itself will recognize me as the scion of her first children, and bestow upon me a weapon to represent and command her biosphere, just as I represent the human race.
>>
>>97367562
>>97367572
The setting uses this concept of animacy to blend the concepts of mind and matter.
Just like a wave is not just the particles of water that happen to make it up at any particular point in time, but a persisting distinct entity, a nature spirit is more than the particular plant life it presides over.
But at the same time, it's not a ghost that pops and exists seperately from those plants. It's like a presence within them.
Can you tame water by killing a wave? I suppose you can, but you'd be removing the animating energy that you might have been interested in in the first place.
Can you gain more water by stealing a wave? You'd just be stealing the water directly. In this analogy that'd mean uprooting all the plants and carrying them to your own territory.
>>
>>97367799
Great, so if I began reshaping the biome by agressaviely replacing the local flora and fauna with my own modified creations and servants I will by extension corrupt and subjugate the nature spirit. The rapid procreation parasitic monstrosities will do wonders towards these goals. Change the components and the collective gestalt will change with it.

That's probably where noble bloodlines come from, individuals that made the landscape the way it is now, so that the powers that govern it have sworn loyalty to their legacy as long as their heirs uphold the same values.
Great motivation to want to build a paladin because you need to be stopped.

Spacecraft: Acclamator-class Assault Ship "Gaoler" made by KDY [Hyperdrive, Laser and Ion Cannons, Containment]
Associates: Padawan Roona Feyn, Jedi Knight Lirwyn Nieth, Jedi Master Haruth Astros-Kyn.
Contacts: Rear Admiral Zenosia.
Missions: Initiation Cruise, Securing The Past, Drowned In The Mud, Medical Mission, Evacuating Duro.
Final Mission: Hydian Counterattack.
Fate: Fight.
With somewhat rough upbringing, great Neela wasn't overly troubled by the onset of Clone Wars. She always preferred active measures to peaceful mediation, being prone to righteous indignation and anger. This somewhat troubling outlook on life evolved as Neela matured and trained, her master Hakuth Astros-Kyn helping her temper it into something more pragmatic, ultimately forging Neela Dyr into a staunch supporter of the Republic and a Jedi Knight known for her combat prowess.
>>
>>97368007
At the same time, she became friends with Lirwyn Nieth, two Jedi frequently debating certain points of Jedi Code, with Lirwyn successfully smoothing some of the edges that Neela began to develop. But some were known to say that Lirwyn's influence wasn't entirely beneficial, as she seems to have also sown some doubts in Neela's mind regarding the direction that the Jedi Order was heading.
Regardless, Dyr proved to be a supremely capable fighter and a good leader, her skills and loyalty to the Republic quickly putting her in good graces of both Republic Command and the clones, who couldn't help but respect the fervor with which Neela was throwing herself into the thick of combat again and again, her wrath and frequent use of destructive Force techniques bordering on being decidedly un-Jedi-like.
Her taking on Roona Feyn as her Padawan was meant to both help Roona grow as a warrior, and give Neela someone who would remind her of kinder and nobler ideals. Dyr quickly grew to like her pupil, even if she wasn't the kindest mentor.
At some point, Neela came into contact with Rear Admiral Zenosia, and the two formed a bond of mutual respect and trust, both being loyal to the Republic and not afraid to get their hands dirty when needed. Zenosia supplied Dyr with information, and Neela acted as the enforcer of the Republican law, eventually earning the privilege of commanding an Acclamator "Gaoler". Used to secure and transport prisoners of war, it nevertheless was deployed on many different missions, from evacuating civilians to guarding medical stations.
As the war raged on, Neela became increasingly comfortable with grim realities of war - something that Lirwyn fervently warned against while Zenosia wholeheartedly endorsed. The Miraluka, already struggling to contain her boiling rage at the injustice and chaos she saw everywhere, was more receptive to Zenosia's words. Rear Admiral, for her part, greatly enjoyed having a Jedi so willing to work with her.
>>
>>97368011
When Order 66 came, Neela was left with nothing. Her friend Lyrwin, her padawan Roona - lost in the chaos of Empire's rise. And what of the Rear Admiral? Dead or switched sides? Master Astros-Kyn is most certainly dead. Lost and uncertain, Neela Dyr, despite her outwardly stoic and cold attitude, is teetering on the very brink of giving in to the Dark Side and going on a frenzied rampage against everything she perceives as unjust.

I'll be taking my bonus points for writing the lore, thank you very much.
