>>97373370>Do you believe in magic?Yes. Once, as a child, I broke a black kid's finger because he stole my pencil but he snatched some of my hair and told me his mammy would put a curse on me. I laughed and didn't believe him, but the very next week our house got a rat infestation. When we got rid of those, we started seeing roaches. A few days after we hired an exterminator, my dad was nearly hit by an 18-wheeler. After that I got spooked, apologized to the black kid, and made a batch of pumpkin bars for him to take home with him. Just like that, all of our problems and everything went back to normal. To this day, I try to stay out of trouble with black people.

>>97373440Why do we ban hard drugs? It only makes things worse because more people start joining cartels
>>97373440Because 99% of Necromancers use black soul gems.Imagine your fellow brothers of the Nine Divines going to hell because some snooty cunt high elf wanted more power.Arch-Marge Traven did the right thing.
>>97373440It brought up a battle against the necromancers, rather than having the necromancers infiltrate the guild and destroy it from within. The necromancers were never aligned with the guild, they were all seeking power while serving Mannimarco and the Ideal Masters in pursuit of that power. They banned necromancy to remove the traitors from their ranks, and they succeeded in purging them. Sure they drove out some people who were just idly researching it, and drove them to join their enemy, but those people were being recruited in secret before that anyway. In the end they crushed the necromancers, while their losses were minimal, and the worst that happened was a madman became Arch-Mage.
So we've had several builds for the Jedi CYOA, now we need to make them fight and see who's strongest

>>97373605This one is really flavourful. I like it.Shame you can't start as a fallen Jedi, though.
>>97373681>Shame you can't start as a fallen Jedi, though. You will never be a real Sith Lord, you have no passion, you have no strength, you have no power. You are a Padawan twisted by Jedi dogma and lies into a crude mockery of the Force's potential. All the “validation” you get is two-faced and half-hearted. Behind your back apprentices mock you. Your Jedi Master is disgusted and ashamed of you, your “friends” laugh at your ghoulish appearance behind closed doors.Sith are utterly repulsed by you. Thousands of years of evolution have allowed Sith to sniff out frauds with incredible efficiency. Even Dark Jedi who “pass” look uncanny and unnatural to a Sith. Your Midi-chlorian count is a dead giveaway. And even if you manage to get a drunk Sith Lord to agree to train you, he’ll turn tail and bolt the second he gets a whiff of your weak, downright pathetic presence in the Force. You will never be happy. You wrench out a fake smile every single morning and tell yourself it’s going to be ok, but deep inside you feel the depression creeping up like a weed, ready to crush you under the unbearable weight.Eventually it’ll be too much to bear - you’ll pilot a ship, enter orbit, put yourself in the airlock, and plunge into the cold abyss. Your masters will find you, emotionless but relieved that they no longer have to live with the unbearable shame and disappointment. They’ll bury you with a headstone marked with your old Jedi name, and every passerby for the rest of eternity will know a Jedi is buried there. Your body will decay and go back to the dust, and all that will remain of your legacy is a skeleton that is unmistakably Jedi. This is your fate. This is what you chose. There is no turning back.

(or do I dare? do I dare take 7 vampires and have a family of 91?)I can also reward my allies with immortality. This does mean we have to go out raiding often, but I'll reserve a chamber in the castle for blood harvests so we have reserves and nobody attacks my peasant workers.Since I can preside over my own territory, I can have a few townships to feast on that won't have another lord to beg for protection. My public opinion is neutral, but it could sink if my blood tax is levied to high or on too concentrated a population. If it does, other liege lords might have a good excuse to try taking my territory, I'm banking on my retinue being enough to deter them.Additionally: has anyone ever considered repeatedly resurrecting victims using foreign flesh from animals and heating the blood? Functionally it'd let you turn animal calories into drinkable human blood for vampires, until eventually the victim has become too warped and no longer counts as human. Maybe turning animal calories into humans is what towns do anyway.
>>97373695Shut the fuck up, Darth BaneI'm not listening lalalala
>>97373695Kek.One thing that never fails to make me laugh is that the Inquisitors, who all were fallen Jedi, in Disney canon were LITERALLY TRAINED WRONG ON PURPOSE. It's such a bizzare and deranged thing to do. Just an order of larpers.
>>97373605There's some interesting stuff in star wars, but I need it in an expy setting, divorced from all the canon weighing it down.Like sith apprentices always betraying their masters. Why even get an apprentice? Apprenticeships are for passing on knowledge, it doesn't make sense to want to kill your own apprentice. There should be some magic system that incentivizes you to act through an intermediary, but simultaneously provides that intermediary an opportunity to usurp you. Not an apprentice, but, like, a parasite's host. Or better yet, don't try to force the same character dynamic always happening, and let them exist as more varied members of an evil cult.>>97373705Necromancer builds always give good villains. I need a counterpart cyoa for making a hero and respond to villain builds.
>>97373734>divorced from all the canon weighing it down.>Like sith apprentices always betraying their masters. Why even get an apprentice?>complains about muh canon while failing to understand even the absolute basicsYou love to see it.
>>97373759Nah, I'm complaining about it conceptually. Of course there's some random lore to explain why that happens in-universe, but that doesn't justify it, that doesn't make it good.
>>97373779>it's bad cuz I say it's bad! It doesn't make sense to me, person who refuses to learn the context! Not really beating the retard allegations here, budster.
>>97373783My man you can not defend star wars canon.
>>97373783There being tons of extended universe lore required to make sense of counter-intuitive worldbuilding is, in fact, bad.
>>97373783those elements didn't arise in any contextthe lore you're talking about is 100% post-hoc justification slike everybody knows star wars worldbuilding is bad why even defend it
>>97373440Because Todd is a big fan of oversimplistic retarded morality. Skyrim, funnily enough, has the College of Winterhold have necromancy be legal, where it's not causing anyone any problems.>>97373547>>97373584Worth noting that this is an Oblivion plot point. Before then, Mannimarco turned himself into a god, he didn't give a shit about some mortal mage's guild. Even in Oblivion it's said that the Black Soul Gems only came about when Mannimarco became the necromancer's moon (his god-body,) which only happened relatively recently during the Warp in the West. Before then there was no "Dude the necromancers are tryna to infiltrate us to put us into black soul gems" because they didn't fucking exist.

>>97373873>Sorry morroweeb, Elder Scrolls hasn't been ruined by woke yet, Oblivion and Skyrim were made in good faith, the lore is 100% validBesides, Imperial mages are consistently shown as arrogant and quick to pass judgment. Imperials also don't have a culture that venerates the dead ancestors or ceremonial burial with weapons and shit. Of course they would see negromancy as inherently evil, especially there's a schizo cult running around trapping peoples souls in black soul gems.In Skyrim there's no cult problem nor black soul gem problem and nords basically expect their long dead ancestors to rise up if their tombs are disturbed, so naturally their view on necromancy is "just don't go full retard and it's fine".
>>97373370[Source]Scholomance - fuck the wizniggas, necrogang, where we at?[Skills]1 Literacy - how would I read the CYOA otherwise?2 Fighting - probably going to upgrade it to Battle in the following 100 years or so[Powers]<Animation>1 Rotting Prison2 Echoes of the Flesh - basics 3 Return to Life - I have a mage with tier 3 magic to try it on, maybe he'll retain his spells2 Zoological Necromancy - hopefully I could find some dragon bones at some point5 Bring to Life - John, you are the skellies2 Cannibal Curse - not sure what happens if one necromancer commands ghouls to attack the other who can make himself invisible to them3 Command Undead - probably going to give some kind of command amulets to my apprentices and give them like 50 skellies and 5 ghosts each so they don't get too uppity5 Mass Raise - I'm a lazy person, I love this option<Soul>0 Broken Peace1 Soul Flask1 Dead Voices2 Create Ghoul - not sure ghouls are necessary when I can use Command Undead on some poor peasants but they're fast to make2 Spectral Apparition2 Create Poltergeist - poltergeists seem to counter a lot of physical threats without special countermeasures so they're a great choice, even if expensive as fuck2 Soul Well - every respectable lich should have a room with a glowy green soul vortex1 Wards - would be a shame if none of my apprentices had a way to counter those poltergeists...5 Phylactery - finally, no distractions and infinite time to shitpost!1 Weak Gasps - you don't understand, making books flip the pages automatically is actually pretty cool and useful!...[Magic]Evocation 1 (Deatheaters) - rot ray as simple ranged offensive option + it allows to quickly crumble the flesh around bones and leave the skeleton intact for reanimation[Drawbacks]Riled Up Crowds - more fodder for meAccursed - more fodder for meFoes in High Places - like they're going to leave their comfy estates and come to the wilderness where I live
>>97373908Magical Fury - I will enjoy the challenge; plus it's an excellent opportunity to experiment on whether or not a soul retains its tier 3 magic after being reanimated[Home]Abandoned Ruins - technically not abandoned anymore1 Soul Well - if a minion is destroyed, soul just returns here, meaning instant re-reanimation if it died defending the ruins2 Operating Table - I'll delegate the dirty work to my apprentices3 Crypt - we'll need a lot of room for what we're planning4 Study - I'm gunning for 3 in all magic schools at some point, it might take forever but forever is exactly how long I plan to live5 Armory - hope they invent guns at some point (it seems they already have cannons), would make skeletons even stronger in combat [Allies]4 Necromancer Apprentices - it says they're my "peers" but I know better; specced into skeleton and cheap ghost production but lacking wards so I could send wraiths after them if they displease me[Minions] (Shambling Horde for all undead included)20 Skeletons x500 - main force for combat/labor, easily renewable2 Living Armors x10 - elite soldiers and cool castle decoration6 Wraiths x2 - bodyguards that would look cool floating on the sides of my bone throne1 Ghosts x25 - scouts; maybe I can repurpose some into singers and an orchestra1 Flesh Wall x100 (?) - I don't know why I picked it, that's pretty gross; let's rebrand it as a Bone Wall instead and put it near the front gate1 Contraptions x10 - probably going to make some bone catapults or a self-moving carriage or a conveyor belt or something5 Skeleton Horses x25 - a few for transportation (with a carriage of some sort, though maybe I'd just use contraptions for that) and the rest for skeleton cavalry6 Living Shadows x4 - assassins that would hide in my shadow when not on mission4 Ruffians x10 - in case I want some people alive for experiments or someone to bully or practice evil laugh on4 Workers x4 - will repair my lair and minion equipment, or else
>>97373911With a quick and easy way to reanimate stuff and make skellies I'm going to transform the ruins into a defensible fortress in the wilderness (while culling all the annoying squirrels sent by the nature spirit to kill me) and will demand tribute from the surrounding villages through my apprentices. Then when the inevitable conflict breaks out, I'm going to send out my army of the dead to conquer the world! Then I'll probably be betrayed by my apprentices because I didn't give them the secret of lichdom or something and sealed in some tomb for 10000 years... Only to rise again to conquer the world! Then repeat if necessary.
>>97373823I don't know if EVERYBODY agrees that it's bad. There's certainly a quantity over quality aspect to it, but for a certain kind of nerd quantity is the appeal. They just have a lot of autistic detail to obsess over and build up a sense of expertise around memorizing.
>>97373900>Imperials also don't have a culture that venerates the dead ancestorsWhat in the absolute fuck do you think Ancestor Moths are?
>>97373929So are you phylactering as a skeleton or as a wraith? Where are you hiding your phylactery?Just out of curiosity, I'm not a hero of light or anything. And what kind of tribute does a lich even need?
>>97373873>Skyrim were made in good faithThe game that has the College mock the dead Mage's Guild's ban on necromancy?
>>97373961You know precisely what I'm talking about yet choose to misinterpret my words for a cheap gotcha. For shame.
>>97373962>So are you phylactering as a skeleton or as a wraith? Where are you hiding your phylactery?I'm not actually sure you can do a phylactery + incorporeal combo because one of the soul powers says phylactery stores your soul and ghosts and such are souls. Considering you can keep your regular body safely before you die and have to transfer into a skeleton body, I'd probably just do that at first. It'll probably be possible for someone to ally with another necromancer with flesh-modifying powers (when I last did a build for this CYOA a long ass time ago I was a soul-specced mortician in the Free Cities and my ally was a glam-necromancer who made nobles more cute and buff with flesh magic and our skills complimented each other) to get an actual intact human body to slot into but I don't mind being a skeleton.>And what kind of tribute does a lich even need? What do you think? It's BONES, baby.
>>97373975I also just ignored the question about where my phylactery is as every sane person should.
>>97373832Yea the stuff with Mannimarco was a mess. I believe that he is the only one that came out of the warp in the west with two bodies. Also while I can accept the difference between black and white souls, the concept of black soul gems was one of the most idiotic things for them to add to tes. I do think the concept could be salvaged, but it would take a lot more lore and possibly game mechanics to justify it, around enchanting and maybe necromancy.I mean in the lore theoretically you can do enchanting without soul gems. It's just that soul gems are such an incredible shortcut that they supplanted other methods. All it would really take is a couple things, letting you trap black souls in grand soul gems, but make it so they can escape if you don't use them immediately, and make it so black soul gems don't let them escape. Then expand enchanting with more factors being involved than skill level and soul size. Have supplementary materials that improve enchantments, and other factors that strengthen the end result. With that make it so that if you are using a black soul gem you could trade the soul to the Ideal Masters for a better result when enchanting. Then as far as expanding necromancy, making it so you could trade the souls in black soul gems with the Ideal Masters or the God of Worms for undead and other things. That said even if one could convince them to make those changes I would expect they would get cut before development of whatever game was finished.
>>97373977It's got to be somewhere. You've hidden it even from your apprentices, but you don't have a lot of travel opportunity as a conspicuous person and enemy of all that lives. There must be a secret compartment within your castle somewhere. Where you can keep watch over it but where even your own students wouldn't think to look.
>>97373998There's mods that let you do most things you're describing. Undeath + Corpse Preparation for example. You can trade souls to Ideal Masters until you trade enough and they send 2 shades to kill you but if you defeat them you can trade more and they give you the necromantic robe artifact from Morrowind
>>97373998>Also while I can accept the difference between black and white souls, the concept of black soul gems was one of the most idiotic things for them to add to tesIt's fine. You're making a mess out of nothing.
