what's the best tabletop rpg if I want to make a campaign that's basically a shonen anime style tournament?
dungeon world >:(
>>97373930Do you care about mechanical fights or just whacky anime shit?Is this a real thing you have planned or just more bullshit slide threads to flood the catalogue
>how do I x in y thread
>>97373930Mutants and Masterminds if your players are unapologetic D&Drones (being d20 based would probably entice them in trying)....
>>97373978...GURPS if you want minutiae of particulars....
>>97373942>Do you care about mechanical fights or just whacky anime shit?a mix of both would be cool, I don't mind crunchy mechanics but they also should allow for some bullshit if possible >Is this a real thing you have planned or just more bullshit slide threads to flood the catalogueI started reading fighting rpg 2E and got the idea but that system is more for like 1-2 players and mainly focused on fights, while I would like something where you can play as a 4 or 5 party and also had space for dumb anime plot

Self Promo timeWeapons of Body and Soul is a Shonen/Xianxia inspired martial arts TTRPG. Character building uses character points with escalating costs. It relies a lot on description for distinction between weapons and abilities, but they are also built using frameworks. For example a Heavy strike could be 1000 punches at the same stat as a singular Gut punch.Notably Dragonball and YYH are direct inspirations for abilities, even with how to do the miraculous mid arc transformation.Combat has a delayed Declaration/Resolve mechanic similar to the Final Fantasy ATB (unintentionally) that allows you to act in the middle of an incoming attack if you are fast enough.Energy may also be used for physical enhancement and spirit attacks, with an open attack building system you can make a large variety of special attacks. It is in Beta and has balance issues but if you are after something crunch that excels at 1V1 shonen combat check it out.https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/HJFiY9T8g
>>97373985well plot only happens if you actually write it so just do the system you know with that number of players
>>97373985Ah, ignore that fucker, he's one of the resident shitposters. He will not give you any useful answer. As far as games go, you can try out musha shugyo, it was born to emulate arcade fighting games, it's pretty much made for 1v1, but you have to work anime powers into your moveset. There are expansions with rules for weapons and armor, but never got them.Otherwise there's Fight! RPG or panic at the dojo.
>>97373930The White Wolf Street Fighter game. It uses their storytelling system but has a more fleshed out combat system where positioning matters for one on one duels and systems for being a career fighter doing tournaments and stuff. Very cool.
