I'm trying to make ball lightning work and I think I've arrived at mardu reanimator>https://archidekt.com/decks/18871756/jerry_lee_lewisI'm still just accumulating cards so its not a finished deck, but I don't play orzhov colors enough to be familiar with good reanimation. Most of the lightnings get hit by the 3 cmc or less rean but I'm trying to not pidgeonhole myself into just that. Any suggestions
1st for Aetherdrift was actually pretty good looking back and a larger fleet of vehicles and touching multiple planes is without question more interesting than>thing you know from IP you like easily translated into magic mechanics
>>97374939I fucking hate vehicles Kaladesh was a mistake.
>>97374854This card
>>97374963>pacify instead of pacifismI get it
tribal bros.. we're eating so good with this set....
>>97374851Elk's a diaperfur? Not shocking but still funny.
>>97374989Not faeries though. In a way I’m kind of glad because I have had my Alela tribal deck a while and wouldn’t really want to gut it and have to add a bunch of new cardsTheres like 3 worth finding a space for, so I guess that’s saving me money.
>>97374939Soviet tier historical revisionism Kill yourself
>>97374939the only interesting part was the egyptian stuff, especially zombies, everything else was shit (except that singular art of akira chandra) I really like the mechanic "start your engines though", and wish it got more support in the future (however unlikely that is considering the hate for the set)
>>97374795When Hasbro collaborates with Mattel again and drops a mechanically unique Barbie Secret Lair that uses pink mana, this image will be seen as prophecy
>>97375012>WE always hated Aetherdrift that's how it's always been it was never good!!Unfortunately it being part of the "push magic's IP down so UB looks better as a comparison" stretch of dogshit sets like clue ravnica, innistrad version 5 or cowboys and indians held it back, it still had a lot of playable and fun cards, sadly made to be a no stakes forgettable set mainlining annoying characters so people would horde cash for FF
>>97374905I recommend Spark Spitter
Thirty (30) starting life is objectively superior to fourty (40)
are there any decent board protection spells in green that aren't 'indestructible' i find that board wipes have kinda power crept in my pod to either be Farewell (exile and also stops GY recursion) or stuff like -x/-x.I can get around it quite easily in white with stuff like Guardian of Faith, mass blink, clever concealment effects etc, but green feels kinda rough
>>97375123No. The entire point is that white has the best removal and protection in exchange for having dogshit card draw and weak ramp.
>>97374905I like Skullclamp's scrappy second cousin in aggressive and sac decks, half a skullclamp worth of card draw while not killing off your 1 toughness creatures is both a strength and weakness in comparison. Your ball lightnings can wear it without dying unlike the skullclamp >skullclamp
>>97375123Mass phase out is a white only thing. Green only gets indestructible and regeneration
>>97375106I heavily debated him but I think since the deck is a lot more focused on bringing things out to immediately hit and then die, I didn't think he'd have enough support. Spellshapers feel like the kind of thing you've gotta build around because losing a whole card to their ability is tough.Although, he could be good for pitching my guys into the bin to then reanimate them >>97375173This is perfect, thank you. Part of what got me on skullclamp was that I have to have the ball lightnings survive combat before I can use it cause of the -1, this lets me suit em up once they enter
>>97374905Recurring Ball Lightning with Dawn of the Dead is what EDH was made for. Maybe you could run Disciple of Bolas or some similar garbage to draw cards off your balls. Also, I would run Sun Titan over Bishop every time.
>>97375241Noted. Can't believe I forgot sun titan. Though I was thinking about cutting the >4 cmc boys to run more sandprinter/dash guys so I could just focus on the <3 cmc reanimation effects. Think it would be pulling in 2 different directions to start getting more stuff that just goes back to hand? Also glad you like dawn of the dead with ball lightning, this concept has had its teeth in me ever since thunderkin came out I just didin't have the know how
>>97375098I really like thunder junction tho, the cards were fun, the story had its moments, and the setting while cliche wasn't done poorly. I wish they had actual guns, but still.
>another night>another streak of golbez wins due to slipping under>always at a table where there is some other dimir or "high power" super threat dropper or pinger zinnia not willing to attack themits so fucking tiring and at this point im not sure what i can play that would be a good deck to pick other than some gruul stompy and hyperfocusing only to die after because no blockers on my end
>>97374905You probably want at least one mass reanimation effect for an alpha strike, something like Bloodline Bidding
>>97375390>play 2 cards from hand that goes infinite with commander>oh well there was nothing we could do, ggcomboplayers stay winning
>>97375408correct
>>97375408only reason im not playing combo each game is because my decks tend to skew for gy combos and people mulliganing for an hour to luckshit stone of erech or other cheap/fast hate is more annoying than getting hate for playing combo in the first place (on top of sometimes wanting a chiller where I also don't need to mulligan for a good hand)
>>97375408Combo feeds off "peoples" general aversion to interaction and I'm sick of it running the show in my pods, i can't put more interaction in my decks without them just devolving into removal/counter spell tribal but something has to be done about these shitters just running swords and calling it good
>>97375345Unironically the dumb looking fake guns was the biggest crime of the set artistically but not committing to making conflict between the plane's natives and settlers/colonists was pussy shit. >>97375123Unfortunately no, if you have a ton of open mana your best bet is using Temur sabertooth to bounce your important guys back to hand. If you're in blue you get march of swirling mist which isn't tpro but it's still nice
>Ask Grok what commander deck would he build>I'd build Urza, using artifacts and tons of ramp to build into my combos. Infinite Mana, Infinite triggers, Draw entire deck and finish with a Oracle for the Win!yikes
>>97375480the game is fucked, sorry
My pulls from my play box were average/shit. Meanwhile my friend got all the best, most expensive mythics and the goblin special guest card.I didn't even get a Special guest card. I hate my life.
>>97375480Embrace evilPlay Stax

>>97375486>"I asked grok">"he">surprised the information aggregate tool picked out a highly popular and consistent strategy that's often discussed on social media Maybe we ARE doomed as a species>>97375495Work harder not smarter. Buy singles, don't gamble
>>97375524>Buy singles, don't gambleEh, you say that, but I probably spent around $150 on Eldraine packs in various forms, and I pulled 2 Soul Cauldrons and a Rhystic Study, along with however many other singles that works out to, some of which would still be a few bucks each. I would never drop $120 on 3 cards, but now I have those cards and much much more
>>97375510I played against a guy last night who from the start mentioned he had no instant gotchas or instant wincons, and that he would clearly signal when a wincon was on the board.(He had a lifegain deck and several cards like "on your upkeep if this is in play and you have 40 life you win" etc, he was cool)For me, it's much funnier to win after you place a wincon on the board and go "Next upkeep, this WILL make me win. Do your worst." and trying to weather that final turn as a raidboss.
>>97375556Yeah but that’s called telegraphing and it’s objectively bad play.Might as well just announce your strategy every turn>AHEM, EVERYONE? I AM HOLDING UP 2 BLUE BECAUSE I HAVE A COUNTERSPELL IN HAND, DO YOUR WORST
>>97375556>On your upkeep, if (thing) = you winyeah its more flavorful to win this way, definitely. But as soon as you announce it, you got 3 players suddenly at your throat.
>>97375123Yes there are. I won't name them though because I find it funny the tourists have misled you.
This kills the combo player. buy 10 copies.>NO NO NO, WHAT DO YOU MEAN I CAN'T DO COMBO?>thanks mate, looks like i make 7 faeries too. xD
I literally said to my friend today "any bet someone accidently gets a TMNT card"wizards do this on purpose, trust me
>>97375573Of course it would be easier to win if you flash your wincon in on the endstep of the last opponent, but it's not as fun. (Unless you only care about winning or getting "gotcha" moments, in which case yeah way to go I guess)>I am holding 2 blue mana If you don't constantly telegraph this you're not mindgaming correctly, always terrorise your opponents with the fear of the unknown, especially if you're playing blue.>>97375575That's what makes it fun, you can only really do it if you feel you can survive everyone's onslaught for 1 turn rotation.Alternatively the first person goes "oh, I remove that with this exile spell" and everyone else shrugs and keeps playing the game normally.
>>97375495Unironically deserved for buying this dogshit set.
>>97375586squelchervovarbiterprobably something else combobabs use to protect the win pillowfort style
>>97375586Aggro beats combo tourist. Not middling counterspells>>97375606You sound genuinely awful to play with anon.
>>97375615youre right, i should've spent the $250 AUD building a good Moth Man deck.Ah well.My next welfare payment is next week and ill be able too.
>>97375647I meant that I remind people if they look at my board that "I have 2 mana up, but do what you want..", not that I clearly state what I have in my hand and what I intend on doing with it.
>>97375606>If you don't constantly telegraph this you're not mindgaming correctlyTelegraphing open mana is the biggest sign that you have absolutely fuck all in hand, especially in blueThe fact people still haven't caught on to this is maddening
>>97375693I exaggerated by saying "constantly", but I will remind people that I have mana open, and in about 1 of 3 cases I am actually holding something that can mess them up or prevent what they want to do. It's up to them if they want to risk it, and realise I had nothing and gain, or risk it and realise I was holding something and lose. I think it's funny either way.
>>97375547>I won once, gambling is good actually
Is this worth building or is there better sac commanders?I want to try sac, ive never played that type of archtype before.

>>97375547>I would never drop $120 on 3 cardsHoleh moleh. Seriously, I get it anon it's fun to rip packs here and there and see what you get but generally ripping packs for value is a losing game unless you're opening a giga value set. Personally I'm on the side of I'm probably not gonna buy a super expensive card like rhystic but I will use it if I crack it
how do I make sure to not get scammed by counterfeit sellers when buying a big ticket card?
>>97375921Buy from LGS.
>>97375586>this spell can't be counteredThat's nice anon >>97375766>calling someone else poor while endorsing gamblingHow much of the $300 you make a week have you lost on Klani or whatever it's called?
>>97375749Not really what I’m saying. I just mean that opening packs gives you a chance at cards you otherwise wouldn’t buy.“Buy singles” for most people isn’t that useful if they actually couldn’t afford the chase cards or can’t justify spending that kind of money on individual cards.Better to crack packs and have fun and be happy if you win big but enjoy the wealth of options you have from everything else if you don’t
>>97375937I have no idea what youre talking about anon. When you arent poor you can afford to have fun, its that simple. The only people who stress this much about leisurely spending are those without much to spend.
>>97375921>133 KBI guess it depends on what you consider big ticket. I would generally never spend four digits online on anything unless it'sfrom a household name.
>>97375945No shit?Being able to burn money on collectible cardboard isn’t the flex you think it is by the way
>>97375952>being able to burn money.... isnt a flex by the wayQuite literally is anon. Youre just poor and mad.
>>97376054Nah low IQ behavior doesnt stop being low IQ just because you can afford it>LOOK AT DEEZ CHAAAINZ NIGGA!!!!!
>>97374757Faeries got little to love too. It's thoroughly an elemental/kithkin/goblin set
>>97375945You're probably too poor and undereducated to understand this but gambling is by and large the poor man's hobby. Not only is it highly addictive, it's the most convenient way to throw away excess income for people who don't know how to reinvest or save which are the two primary reasons most people are poor btw. There's nothing wrong with the occasional lottery ticket or game of poker or trip to the race track, sure, but if you don't have the understanding and acceptance that you are more than likely throwing away your money for a thrill then you're delusional. Everyone enjoys a chance at a big win every now and again, but if you have wealth and intellect you should probably understand that gambling is almost never the "winning" move. Ripping the occasional pack to see what you get is nice, but youre gotten better off spending $30 on cards you need instead of packs full of draft chaff and bulk rares
>>97376063Do kithkin even fucking exist anywhere other than Lorwyn? They should just axe 1-plane creature types
>>97376065>gambling is by and large the poor man's hobby>anon has never heard of a hedge fund
>>97376065>all this cope because hes too poor to throw away some money on a gambleLol and untrue. Gambling is enjoyed by all rich and poor. Enjoyed more by the rich cause they can afford such leisures.>>97376060>spending money to enjoy a life of leisure is low IQ>im a high IQ stoic Aryan BTW xD
>>97376094>>spending money to enjoy a life of leisureBut youre not going on vacation or booking a fancy restaurant, youre being overcharged for cardboard. The reality is you have an addiction to collectibles and your house is probably full of funkopops, anime figurines, posters, plastic crap- and not because youre oh so rich and living a life of leisure, but because you define your own personality by the IPs and companies you support
I hope you guys listened when I mentioned this fucker was gonna spike as soon as Ashling was revealed.

>>97375480Interaction is currently in a losing race.
>>97376132Why would it not?Every in-universe set is a block of valuable design and printing time that could be spent by Hasbro gambling on finding another billion dollar IPOnce you understand that corporations are literally run by gambling addicts, the world will make more sense to you anon. They don’t want the sure-thing, they don’t want to cultivate, they would trade absolutely anything for another crank of the slot machine
>>97376139>shit out tokens, swingThat’s it anon, sorry to tell you
>>97375039Start your Engines is terrible because it's a slow as fuck mechanic in a set about racing.4 of YOUR turns to get some okay effects? It's unusable in commander, too.
>>97376088>high risk investments (which are often scams) are the same as playing slots or buying lottery ticketsHoly poorfag>>97376094>Gambling is enjoyed by all rich and poorThe concept of the black suit high roller and executive games of the world's wealthiest throwing away 6 figures on poker is a myth concocted by the gambling industry and Hollywood. Again, not saying most people don't enjoy a little gamba but I am saying if you think burning your excess income gambling is a sign of leisure and wealth, especially with cardboard, youre probably poor and retarded>>97376116This. Real leisure is travel, experience, and comfort.
>>97376140Knock yourself out, you can go first
>>97376158All of them? Really? Is there any mechanical distinction, or are they all just the same general playstyle reskinned a dozen times.
>>97375586This won't work on combo players, since most combos are 2 card infinite combos with the commander. Combo is for faggots anyway.
>>97376172I mean you’ll get the play style of the colors you choose, but you’re looking at a way to play the game that’s entirely based around creatures. That’s how it goes.

>>97374905I made it work, but you really want Jeska, Thrice Reborn in the command zone. My setup was her + Reyhan. Green has some of the best ball lightnings believe it or not. You also get greater good effects, berserk, etc.
>>97375241>Sun Titan>With Ball Lightning
>>97376204>Whenever you wanna put your money where your mouth is you post itI just agreed that I would, but that you can go first. What’s stopping you?
>>97376065>You're probably too poor and undereducated to understand this but gambling is by and large the poor man's hobbyAs someone who worked at a casino, you will see the guy coming in and buying in for 10k more often than you will see the person coming in and buying in for 500 or less. Addiction, or hobby, it doesn't matter, the people who can afford it do it more.
>>97376150Anon, let's apply Occam's razor here and ask what's more likely: that Hasbro is demanding that a company they purchased for well into the 9 figure range to sabotage their flagship product so they can put tmnt and fallout on the cards; or that wotc's writers and artists are and have been incompetent hacks? On top of that how would sabotaging the UW sets and their sales build confidence in outside IP holders that signing up for a UB set is a good investment?>>97376159SYE probably my favorite "tracker card" mechanic in terms of function but yeah the flavor kinda sucks. You CAN get speed on other people's turns by dealing damage to opponents however so theoretically you can do it faster than the normal 3 turns
>>97376240>Hasbro is demanding that a company they purchased for well into the 9 figure range to sabotage their flagship product so they can put tmnt and fallout on the cards; or that wotc's writers and artists are and have been incompetent hacks? I'm loving how my latest deck seems to consistently make the game 2ish hours long. Drawn-out games are my favorites in commander.
>>97376258How does purposefully sabotaging the UW sets accomplish this tho? How does overall lower magic sells and lower consumer confidence in the quality of the product entice outside collaborators? It makes no sense if you think about it for more than two seconds. We just had crapcom of all companies get pissed and demand a redo over an incredibly bland and poorly made secret lair and that's the kinda thing other companies are gonna be paying attention to

You might want to sit down, but no one gives a fuck about quality. I wish we lived in a world where well-informed consumers wouldn’t tolerate low standards, but we don’t. Especially in the world of collectibles where the “value” is already completely detached from the product itself.>We just had crapcom of all companies get pissed and demand a redo over an incredibly bland and poorly made secret lair and that's the kinda thing other companies are gonna be paying attention toDon’t know what your source is on it actually being CapCom that demanded the do-over rather than it being a strategic decision based on consumer reaction, but it doesn’t really change anything in any case. One misstep won’t negate all the successes. If anything the blame will be placed at WotCs feet and not the company that licensed their IP.I already told you, corporations are run by gambling addicts, all of them. You will not find a corporation that goes>ewwww WotC made a lazy product this one time? Spiderman got bumped up because the aftermath-style mini sets flopped, including the generally good value Assassins Creed set, and for one reason to another (probably contractual pressure from marvel) they bumped it up to a standard set and it became one of the worst sets of the year purely propped up by soul stone hype and a handful of good reprints and value rares. The super early tmnt and marvel spoilers were probably contractual obligations they had to meet that would've made more sense if the timeline didn't get pushed back by spiderman. FF really wasn't that pushed overall outside of vivi, and avatar had a ton of super strong keywords a pushed card for already strong izzet brews. When you look at influence on meta, card over card, Edge Bloomburrow and Duskmourne are the most overall biggest swings on standard rn
If a game isn't over on turn 7 I usually become suicidal and just start ramming my board into everyone else even if it's a bad trade, just to hurry things up. If there's a board wipe on turn 6 or something and everyone's rebuilding from scratch with no clear advantage, I'll just concede.I also only build aggro and tempo decks so I kinda deserve it but fuck man.
>>97376535>I never said i would. I said if you would like to we couldKek>>97376140You said right here you would post it>inb4 “o-o-only 8f you post yours first!!!!”Why would that matter anon? >>97376552>Even back then 2 hours was an anomalyThe format was started by people playing 7-mana 7/7s and back in 2012/2013 Roon was considered strong because of the value his flicker gave. You're full of shit.
>>97376560>if a game isn't over on turn 7 I ruin itok
>>97376536>With short games you get people upset that they couldn't get anything going.I also just don’t subscribe to the idea that the first 4 turns of a game are somehow the best ones and the ones everyone should want to see more of
>>97376449No one wants 2 hour games. And it's usually 1 player'a fault for being slow as fuck.
