What age is it appropriate to let children open booster packs? In America, gambling is restricted to people 21 and over. Buying booster packs of Pokemon, Yugioh, etc however, all unrestricted.
never
>>97380288>fpbpArtificial scarcity of 5 cent pieces of paper made in some china factory that I print off and make proxies of that play the same and are indistinguishable from real cards in sleeves because I refuse to play with nerds who arbitrarily pay 100 dollars instead of 25 cents for a piece of paper Booster pack buyers are like the GW consumers of the card hobby actively destroying it
>>97380251>In America, gambling is restricted to people 21 and over. Buying booster packs of Pokemon, Yugioh, etc however, all unrestricted. The defense of booster packs is that with booster packs, you're guaranteed some product, even if its not the desired product. Unlike with gambling, where you can simply end up with nothing.Personally I don't agree because I don't think we should market gambling-lite to children.
When is it okay to go to Chuck E. Cheeses, the child casino.
>>97380251Never, keep your grubby little hands off my investments.
>>97380251The boosters aren't the problem. The problem is that TCGs are an incredibly expensive hobby that has been overtaken by speculative investors, which has driven up the price and scarcity. Young kids don't have very much money to spend and even less understanding of the value of a dollar (most adults don't either), so letting them get into these overpriced, highly predatory hobbies where their parents' money will be burned away on hundreds of cards that will probably never be used is less of a problem of gambling and more of a problem of wasting limited funds on worthless things, for the chance at a dopamine hit to get the cards they actually want, but won't use anyways, because young kids are not cut out for the extreme autism of the competitive scene where manchildren reign supreme.Simple solution: skip the booster and teach the kids to play the game and build decks for free through one of the free VTT programs that exist
