What do you think of the differences between the nu (bad) and old (good) custodes after the merest of eight years?
>>
>>97383132
>TQ
They didn't have enough time. I'm sure next FAQ the models will be perfect.
>>
>>97383132
The nu custodes are not bad, but they are not really great, i would not call them an upgrade but not a down grade. My main complaints of them are
To spindally
Plumes WAY to long for no reason
Leg armor is lame and boring compared to old one
>>
>>97383160
Same but I think the helmets look terrible and its the sole reason I wont be getting any

After I compared them to they old they honestly look fine apart from the heads, but good lord is the coneyhead strong with these ones. I think I might just look to getting a bunch of recast sagittarum heads instead if I ever get sone custodes to accompany my aux like I'm tempted to do. Also I think these are the worst heavy metal paint jobs I've seen in a long time, why can GW not hire someone who paint faces. Even ignoring the female head sculpt, look at what mockery the paintjob is on what is probably an ok granny face in bare plastic. Did they bring the old sororitas painter out for these guys?

I'm quite pleased to see these coming into plastic. DESU the resin ones never seemed like a difficult enough model to shy away from for any reasons besides space, but plastic is always better to work with, and I've always thought the models were really cool. The carrier might make some good conversion fodder for something since it's so absurdly oversized. I wonder if it'll have an interior.

What's the typical cycle between preview and release? 2 months? New custodes kinda fucks with my plans for a tourney in a few months, if I want to bet on getting them in and done in time.

If it depended on me, custodian polearms would look like spears, glaives, halberds, voulgues, guisarmes and all kind of polearms. Their thing is combination guns. They'd range from a bolter with abayonet mounted on a pole, to a dedicated halberd that happens to have a boltgun attached to it.
Every Custode is different, and every weapon is artificer-made for each individual. Self-crafted.
Mine would be like this. A voulge that is incredibly...blurry. Under the microscope, the atoms themselves are fucking blurry and diffuse.

Wouldn't be surprised if they squat sisters of silence here.

Custodes players only want to play if they can run nothing but custodes, and only.if their army is overpowered. Otherwise they'll pack up their shit.and go home rather than play a fair game.
>>
>>97383214
I am sarcastically asking you to elaborate on your point bro.
Unironically I wish for bayonets to be relevant, but since rifles allowed for a single soldier to aim their shots instead of requiring a squad to reliably hit something, and since repeating weapons meant every soldier is carrying a light machinegun, combat moved to trenches, then to indoors, then to drones. I love the short polearm that is a rifle with a bayonet. It's why I like both Custodes and necrons. Polearm guns.
>>
>>97378627
>I always hated the idea of it, i though it was a bad idea to begin with, and now that they are finally commiting to it, i feel nothing.
It will be whatever you decide it will. I said there shouldn't be Custodian women because I feared pic related, superhumans replacing baseline humanity...but wasn't the Emperor's plan to eventually create the Golden Race?
If Custodians are the New Man, then it makes sense for them to be male and female.

Ok so ignoring that they’ve effectively killed sos for this, the fact that they don’t have triggers anywhere, the fact that they have bare legs for no reason, and their helmets are fucking massive for their heads why are these a new scale. It’s like they’re in a super true scale or some cosplayer scale. It’s like they’re using the same scaling as joytoy so now we have to deal with 3 scales so these will never look right against any other faction in game

I don't get why people are shidding and pizzing themselves over the height/scale/helmets. Fluffwise they're only a little bit shorter than primarchs, are much better proportioned than marines, and have very tall helmets. The execution was obviously terrible, but the idea was sound.

Outside of the fact that they added half an inch to the haft of the topknot for no reason, your minis are gonna stand next to your opponents. A big part of the move to true scale is an attempt to make the minis look less “cartoonish”. You compare a modern mini to old rt minis and the rt minis look ridiculous. If you keep swapping scales every release nothing looks like it’s supposed to stand next to one another. The current scaling on marines make these look like lanky freaks

I'm sure their supervisor or some director/executive tells the rank and file painters to use certain paints.

It's probably super boring and monotonous using the same paints in the same technique to paint 20-30 custodes. You're just a robot at that point. Eavy metal edge highlights absolutely everything to overwhelm you.
People see new releases and think detail = good when the biggest flaw of new sculpts is how overly designed and awful they are to put together.

Yeah the guardian spear change just seemed completely unnecessary and it's this part that really clashes against the existing Guard and Warden models, yet I don't think most would care to redo their entire existing Custodian armies because of them. Maybe they're trying to call back to older art, but I paint my custards' blades in a dark metallic grey and it works fine for the design we have already. I could forgive the downgrade if we actually got Adrathic and Adrasite upgrades in the same box, but that's probably not the case at all.

The Sentinel swords are fine, I suppose. The older swords were really chunky.

While the articles reaffirm that all these models are compatible with 40k, curious if they'll do a bait & switch for 11th or stick with the same clause they got for Knights, they already did that bullshit with Heresy 2.0's plastic and 9th. Though while I suppose they're already coasting on generic Contemptors, it would be funny.

Just look at the necromunda releases, they get full plastic kits and option sets for shit there is no way more than a dozen people are buying. Someone at GW loves Necromunda
>>
>>97384643
Apparently edgy manchildren love the police gang in Necromunda, probably carried the entire range.
>>
>>97384643
The game is cool and all, and the kits can definitely make for fun alternatives where applicable while it serves as a creative outlet for anything moderately futuristic (which works both ways, seeing Van Saar go off the rails). But yeah there's definitely some preferential treatment going on while Heresy feels like it's all over the place in transitioning to plastic.

Curiously, plot-wise the succession crisis alludes to Imperial Fists threatening to step in. Think they'll actually introduce marines proper to Necromunda?

>>97384677
It must be tiring for local scenes to have people predominantly playing Palanite Enforcers in a game mostly about gangs, fun as the contrast is.

No. I think it just goes to show how bad HM is.
>>
You guys are such babies. The new Custodes and their vehicles look fine for the most part, it's just the shit HM paintjob. The only part that is an actual downgrade are the boots and tactical rocks for Venatari.

I suggest waiting until someone actually competent paints them.
>>
>>97384867
God, it really must have been bad for them to put that article out. Not even Primaris got an article beginning with 'address the elephant in the room' as a start.

Funny thing is, if they had dropped that lore for 40k and said they were running out of male noble recruits I doubt there would have been an outcry a fraction the size of what it is now.
Saying they've always been there was the worst thing they could have done to piss people off considering the sheer amount of lore and books that don't mention a single female custodes.
>>
The one saving grace is that since GW keeps the systems separate at all costs, there is a non-zero chance that they keep the old models as the 40k models and use the new models as 30k models and keep producing both.
>>
>>97384857
No matter who they hire and train up in 'Eavy Metal they still don't understand that you cannot edge highlight a female face.

That's not how they work on a structural level. I know they want to outline the sculpts more for commercial reasons but it makes the product look shit if you can't even get the heads right...

To be honest, anons. I am still glad I placed a huge order at my fav chinaman last month, so that I still got to assemble my pure male Custodes army, with my wife's son.

Fuck these matchstick troon custodes

They definitely have some guidelines they HAVE to follow usually, you can't convince me eavy metal doesn't know how to paint female faces.
That being said sometimes they're let off the hook. The darkwater stuff was a definite cut above what they're usually allowed to do. Compare the paintjob of the blight templars in that game compared to the blight kings of end times. Crazy difference.

>>97384867
have custodes legs always looked like gay stormcast suits? I can't see anything else from the bottom half
>>
>>97385134
Most GW releases were painted about a year and a half ago and each franchise gets a separate team which is why the best painted models are always necromunda. 40k and sigmar are more like assembly lines at this point to get them out asap but box sets get special attention.
>>
>>97384938
thank god the 50 heresy books are already finished, now it's impossible for them to gender swap every single named custodian being male in the entire heresy.

It's bad enough in the novels 99% of knight princeps were made female (a male role), 99% of ship captains were made female (a male role) and 99% of army commanders were made female (a male role)

I have a feeling that each of the calladius is going to cost like a land raider, even if it is the custodes predator and the transport is going to have a Kratos/Glaive point cost, with the speeder costed like a main line tank.

I'm getting a very ominous feeling from the female Space Marine section.
>>
I don't mind if people wanted femal custodes. Besides the Venetari I don't need more infantry. But did GW really have to make all the models look as if they are on Ozempic working in a library? The old custodes were chonkers and the terminators were proper huge. Like a moving mini tank. The new models, all of them, as if they were women. long arm and legs small torso wide hips. It looks really wierd/gay on dudes. And not the good kind of Spartan Gay, which I would be 100% in for.

At least with a new book, I hope custodes get the option to change their line/venguard at the begining of the turn. To be an actualy playable faction in 3ed.
>>
How's the Glaive in 3.0?
>>
>>97385399
It sucks for the points. Give it breaching 6+ on the main weapon. Maybe pinning as well. Too much?
>>
>>97385399
glaive, cerberus, typhon, falchion, and fellblade are all handicap-tier. They're simply much worse than same points put into Kratos (which is relative to cost significantly tankier and significantly shootier)

Being a super-heavy comes with huge drawbacks, 100% of glances inflict 1 wound instantly. They can only react against primarchs, knights, titans, superheavies etc, so they essentially always have a free stunned status on them even before anyone shoots them.

Then they also have shitty armor, instead of kratos 14-14-14 they're 14-13-12 which is 10x easier to kill in many situations (literally, like taking 10 wounds instead of 1 wound on kratos)

Being that extremely fat makes navigating terrain or hiding from shooting both fail compared to smaller vehicles.

Most of them don't actually have a good gun for the cost. Glaive's shitty volkite is 12 S8 AP3 D2 shots. For 650+ that's a fucking joke. It costs as much as FIVE beam predators with 5" pie plates, S8 AP2 Dmg3. Even EW1 won't save terminators from the preds but laughs at glaive's useless fucking trash volkite.
>>
>>97385494
Glaive should go back to beam and AP 2 then. Are we all in agreement?
