>>97393632You have Mark Rosewater and the Hasbro Corpo execs in front of you and you can say anything to them could be a single word or a whole speech... What you say to them?
>People keep saying "They clearly put more effort into UB than UW.">Look through the leaks>The rares look even more boring than the boring Lorwyn Eclipsed raresHave you guys considered that UB keeps dominating the meta because WotC actually don't give a shit what the cards do as long as they make sense for the IP? The fact that they're so powerful probably speaks to how little they test anything from these sets. I'd bet my life the thought of testing the interaction between Superior Spider-Man and Bringer of the Last Gift never entered a single designer's mind.
>>97394510>UB keeps dominating the metaIt doesn't, though.
>>97394519>It doesn't, though.
I just will hsve fun with TMNT and artifacts, at least more fun than with Lorwyn slop...
You guys weren't kidding, Lorwyn limited is genuinely awful.
>>97394510>The rares look even more boring than the boring Lorwyn Eclipsed raresI take you don't play commander?
So I'm just catching up on the Lorwyn spoilers. Let me see if I understand this new red curve correctly.Turn 1 play this guy.Turn 2 play two more one-dropsTurn 3 give all of them trample and then use your FOUR FREE MANA to pump them up any way you want, which lets you swing for somewhere around a billion damageThat about right?
>>97394547The top played cards in Standard are an even split. If anything, it's slightly skewed in favor of in-universe sets.
>>97394571>"Only half the format is UB, nerd.">"What's that, the UW half is all lands and bulk utility spells? SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!"
lorwyn sucks ass so hard man
>>97394584It's really fucking bad and only gets worse when you actually play it.
>>97394564Are there enough good elementals to make this thing even worth including?
>>97394519>>97394571Even if we ignore the overall percentages, green decks would not be as powerful as they are without Badgermole Cub. UR was at the top of the meta post-Cutter mostly because of Vivi (Cauldron was the glue, but the glue does little on its own).>>97394563I haven't enjoyed Commander for the "gameplay" since the 2010s. I only play nowadays because it's the only format my sister wants to play outside limited.
>>97394594For a consistant turn 3 lethal I'm sure we can find some that make the cut
>>97394576>10 cards banned from Standard at the moment>9 from in-universe sets>1 from UBSeems to me like UW has the more powerful cards.
>>97394584>>97394587Played a couple prereleases. From those few games, its a fine limited set. Not great, but better than the recent likes of Aetherdrift, Spiderman, Bloomburrow, Murders.
There's just nothing interesting about it.You open a good merfolk and pick all the merfolk you see.You open a good kithkin and draft all the kithkin you see. It's boring, man. Just like every damn set. The whole point of draft is the draft. If I wanted to be handed a precon deck, I'd go buy a copy of "Duel Decks: Speed vs. Cunning" or some shit.Draft just isn't interesting anymore. It's the same formulaic trash every time. Oh boy aren't you excited for another 2 color signpost uncommon bros??!?!?!?!?!?!??!This new Lorwyn set is the worst of it though. Holy fuck it's loathsome. Why would you even draft this trash, just hand out precon decks at least they would have the slightest chance of being balanced against each other.
>>97394660What if we make everything jumpstart forever?
>>97394660>Oh boy aren't you excited for another 2 color signpost uncommon bros??!?!?!?!?!?!??!Unironically, people seem to love these and I have no idea why.
>>97394660Sets with creature types as the defining characteristic are always going to railroad you into certain color pairs. Happened in Ixalan, happened in Bloomburrow, happened in Innistrad. Don't know why you thought it would be different this time.
>>97394603Ah, so THESE must be the “powerful white cards” Gavin is always lying about
>>97394694>Don't know why you thought it would be different this time.Use your brain and figure it out.If you're incapable, the set being a steaming pile of dookie might be a compounding factor.
>Lorwyn bad Lorwyn bad Lorwyn badIt's linear but it's fun so I dunno, I think you people just lack joy in your lives.
>>97394576>Ouroboroid and Riddler>bulk utility spells
>>97394722ONE LIGHT
>>97394707Its better than half of the sets that have been released in the last couple of years. Also worse than half of theme. Its fine.
>>97394730>Its better than half of the sets that have been released in the last couple of yearsIt is unironically the worst set of the past five years.
I'm planning to make some counters deck in Pioneer with my wife and some Lorwyn cards.
>Durr tribal set is le bad>Ackshoolee my heckarino Avatar lessons and Cub decks are better!Zoomies are so force fed on slop that actual gourmet dining repulses them
>>97394745>actual gourmet dining>>>ECL
>>97394737Nah, Aetherdrift, Murders, Spiderman, New Capenna, Strixhaven, both recent Innistrad sets, Foundations and TMNT are all worse.
>>97394745>Gourmet dinning>In two months will be forgottenOk
>>97394753>Nah, Aetherdrift, Murders, Spiderman, New Capenna, Strixhaven, both recent Innistrad sets, Foundations and TMNT are all worse. Not in terms of gameplay, which is the only metric that ultimately matters.
>>97394756Wrong. The only metric that ultimately matters--because it's what dictates the future direction of the game--is sales.
At some point you are going to have to admit that you suck at building decks, you have no creativity, and no game sense.
>>97394762>Wrong. The only metric that ultimately matters--because it's what dictates the future direction of the game--is sales.Materialism is a mind plague. Get ye gone.
>>97394756Spiderman, Murders, New Capenna, Aetherdrift and Strixhaven all play worse than Lorwyn. I've only played six games of limited, so that could change as I play more though.
>>97394775>Spiderman, Murders, New Capenna, Aetherdrift and Strixhaven all play worse than Lorwyn. I've only played six games of limited, so that could change as I play more though.Aetherdrift and MKM are the only "Recent" sets that I say rival it.
>>97394762>SalesTalked like a true PIG faggot.
>>97394774You misunderstand me. I have my favorite sets and they're ultimately unrelated to sales numbers, but you're a fool if you think that the financial performance of a release doesn't impact the design of future releases. If you detest the gameplay of a set that overperforms expectations, you should be cognizant of the fact that future sets will be more similar to it than not.
>>97394475I denounce the talmud.
>>97394762Are you part of wotc you fucking retard? Sales literally matter to players none. Your opinions suck. Drift was a much better draft environment same with strixhaven. Capenna a much better set overall. Like youre just saying shit cause you have some rose colored glasses when it comes to OG lorwyn and thats making you desperately want nu lorwyn to be good BUT ITS DOGSHIT
Piggies bought it anyways like they always do.
Anyway they completed the cycle in the weakest way, they could've just done "Talent" for the rest or just gone with "Leads" or something similar for this but now it just feels wrong.
>>97394784You mean every set will be homogenized pig slop because they cater to the lowest common denominator retard who doesn’t want to do any thinking and just play the same flowcharts every deck every set
Everybody thought bloomburrow was underpowered tribal slop for constructed when it came out too. This is an extremely fun limited format that will be remembered as such. Blight is so strangely good.
>>97394784Is does not equal ought.Learn to think before attempting to speak.
>>97394778Spiderman was awful and on top of that had half the card pool. New Capenna and Strixhaven were two of the worst limited formats that I can remember. Lorwyn isn't the best limited set, but there are worse ones.
>>97394802>Spiderman was awful and on top of that had half the card pool.I don't consider Spiderman a set. It was the fecal fallout of the shit bomb that was Aftermath boosters. But yes if you want to lump it in, it was pretty damn bad.
>>97394794>Nosewaters “gain 2 life” meme for whiteIf only I had a serrated knife to stab his bowels for every time he forces this shit.
>>97394564You only go up by one mana. This is essentially a 2/1 llanowar elf that doesn't go online until turn 3.
Fallout and Dr. Who in Standard when? Sales are what matter right?
>>97394829Dr. Who as a franchise is dead. Trek will live long and prosper
>Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles vs. Gran-Grandesolate
>>97394821>This is essentially a 2/1 llanowar elfoh yeah just a 2/1 llanowar that gives everything on your board trample and can also swing the same turn it gives you mana, nbd
>>97394809When did you actually start playing limited? Because the more I think of older sets, I come up with more sets worse than nu Lorwyn. Battle for Zendikar, Oath of the Gatewatch, Kaladesh and Aether Revolt are also probably worse.
>>97394802I recall enjoying Strixhaven limited.Eldraine (the first one), WAR, and Ikoria I remember strongly disliking. The sad part is that WAR was really really fun if you ignored all the busted rares and mythics. The actual bits and pieces were neat and allowed for some cool archetypes and fun synergies but the games were so dominated by the outrageous bombs that you very rarely got to play an actual game of Magic and instead just played 'who draws their I WIN button first'.
>>97394834TURTLE POWER FOREVER!!!
>>97394834thefutureisnow
>>97394571It's an even split but there's far more UW than UB sets in Standard
>>97394836This but unsarcastically.Noble/Ignoble Heirarch is generally better and it's not even one of the better mana dorks.I also ignored that you need to run a bunch of elementals in order to make this a viable early game play.
>>97395062>HierarchWhat's better? Fucking BoP and Halfling?
Went 3-0 at prerelease. Didn't get any big money cards but I had a lot of fun and got to do cool flashy plays. Remember: with elves, you win
>>97394564>2026>anons STILL misunderstanding how the Soulbright Flamekin effect works
>>97394594maybe justify to make a deck around Champion of the Path
>>97394791Note that he doesn't mention what metric of success he is talking about here. It could be something like engagement, not sales.

>>97395573>>97395606IT BEGINSMTGO DATA WILL RAPE THIS FORMAT
>>97395573>Actually banning the problem instead of around it for once Funny how JOTC can’t learn that lesson with Omniscience Oh wait it’s because they’re biased kikes who proudly claimed the wanted Omni in standard for 5 years
>>97395617Rape? The banlists are literally gonna save itThat said, if your "cool legacy format" needs one thousand posthumous banlists to actually be fun, maybe it was never a good format at all
>>97395617If you played it just a bit you would know what was stronger and what was a meme desu, it's not exactly hard, the only issue I see with this is that for every card that gets banned a deck dies and nothing new comes in, they have to balance between oppressive decks that shut down other decks by being too strong and decks that are a bit too strong but increase diversity be existing.
How do I get UntapIn to accept my import from ManaBox? Thanks

>>97394660Did you try the non-tribal archetypes? I heard they are better and more fun except U/B.
>>97394794I wonder if the test names were based on the theme song and when they got actual names Leads was the only one to have since they didn't realize it was part of a theme song reference.
8 cards left to spoil.
>>97395626Funny how they just go straight for the problem card when it's for a format for which they're not currently trying to sell cards for.
>>973959508 more chances for Donatello not to get cucked in the sneak cycle
>>97396022I am unironically happy that Kitsune's Tech, a reasonably interesting card for a niche archetype, isn't plagued with a UB name.If only we could get rid of that set symbol.
>>97396022The cycle is complete. His card is either colorless or 5 colors.
>>97396038Unfortunately Kitsune is her name so you're out of luck.

>>97395828>you where rightIESLB. Also Pauper sucks because it's contaminated by UB and FIRE.>>97395962JotC has nothing to do with this decision. It's entirely Martin Berlin.

Yeah, Magic sucks now...Hey, I have an idea. Lets play some poker!!!
>>97395828>>Paupershill warns pissboys that pauperbvllz will rape and solve their formatWe've known Tides was probably going to get banned long before this format was made official on MTGO. Pauperkeks didn't solve anything.
>>97394794>they chickened out from just using "Leads"Why even bother to have the cycle named after the lyrics, then? They can't even follow through on base level stuff.
TMNT us coming to Arena, right? Marvel is the only one cucking people, right?
>>97395789Damn really? Honestly my matchups were a very mid boggart deck, Temur elementals and an abzan kithkin/elf blend that probably would've been better with one or the other. I only dropped a single game against the elementals guy. Very fun tho, very cool limited environment and the most fun I've had a prerelease since I started playing>>97394794It bothers me that this fits into the class cycle from Bloom but not the new one from this set. Why not just have the whole cycle match the talent one then? Tinkerer's talent for Don, Brawler's talent for Raph, and uhhhh idk Trickster's talent for Mikey
>>97396417Cucking them out of what, exactly? If anything being able to play with in-universe versions of the sloppa is a blessing.
>>97395701I trust Berlin to do the right thing given that he's an individual who plays for love of the game and is not swayed by money and needing to sell booster packs. The article is really solid and addresses a point that I wish Wizards would cover when they do their B&Rs, for Legacy at least, that being the best cards homogenize decks and decrease diversity. Why play Tarmogoyf when you could play Barrowgoyf? Why play Knight of the Reliquary when you could play Nadu? etc.
Do you think the singing boggarts are going to be remembered in the future, like Loot (but not pushed); or forgotten immediately when the new set comes, like the Omenpaths Green Goblin creature?
>>97394564Anon... You will have Raphael to play or sneak with those 3 mana... Double strike to attackers...yep, wotc being wotc>>97395950oh, it is shiva Shredder!

>>97395079It's format dependent but I think BoP, Heritage Druid, Devoted Druid, Priest of Titania, Rofellos, Deathrite Shaman are all better. Fanatic of Rhonas, Llanowar Elf, and Sylvan Caryatid are about the same. I do admit that "Not even one of the better mana dorks" is a bit harsher than what I should have said. It's in the top 10 for sure and possibly top 5.

I went 2-1-1 with Survival Infestation yesterday for a 3rd place finish.1-1 BW Control1-2 Moneyball Black2-1 Angry Ghoul2-1 Super GrowDeck is fun. I really felt the lack of removal and ways to deal with Hypnotic Spectre. I'm considering Woolly Spider or Ancient Spider for this purpose, but slots already feel quite tight.
