Like the lore portrayed the Imperium as a juggernaut that would easily annihilate everyone else if they weren't so incompetent. It wasn't so much that the Imperium's enemies were strong, just that the Imperium was that retarded. This is the heyday of lore like Chenkov murdering a couple of million guardsmen to build a bridge out of their bodies so his tanks could get to a parade early, or inquisitors exterminatusing worlds because they heard that one person's grandfather saw a chaos star while serving in the Guard. The 00s were a backlash to that, and portrayed the Imperium as rational for the universe the lived in. Reality bent backwards to justify every Imperial action. This is when we started to get the "every small act of kindness is punished; only evil survives" narratives. It's also when the Imperium's enemies started getting buffed to justify the Imperium's drastic actions. During the Goto period, people were never rewarded for good acts, and sociopathy was usually rewarded. So grimdark.The modern lore is somewhere between those two extremes. It does a good job of punishing the Imperium for senseless acts of cruelty and showing that other paths would be better both morally and pragmatically, but neither does it shy away from showing that unfettered empathy can be dangerous in 40k.

Uppy downy on an invictor is pretty neat.No one will fall for the return fire ability. The fist is strong but getting it into comabt requires skill and planning (in short supply among marine players). They're not meta by any stretch of the imagination but I have and use one and it's not a waste of points.

Fluff questions.Would a White Scars Infiltrator squad use a transport, and what kinds would they use?Would an Ordro Hereticus Inquistor, who had some squads of Arbites, Stormtroopers, and Sisters of Battle at their disposal (not all at once), be mechanized? Trying to figure out if I should give them some transport vehicles, or imagine them being flown to locations, or walking, or taking some local transport option.
