Is there any specific deck(s) that causes your pod (or LGS) to irrationally seethe? Format whatever reason, everyone at my LGS absolutely shits their pants if you play Eldrazi or Slivers.
>>97397113Imagine being this wrong.
>>97397166Hatebears, for some reason. It's not even particularly good in the format.
>>97397167Post something that animates only opponents lands then.
>>97397166>irrationally seethe?>sliversIf the deck is reasonably well made it's not irrational at all. Slivers are like a check for board wipes, if nobody draws 1-2 wipes within the first 5 or 6 turns, Slivers just entirely takes over the game.
>>97397166My regular pod think my pillowfort deck is "bullshit" and "stops them from playing the game" because it has things like forcefield, ensnaring bridge, and crawlspace in it.
>>97397166Not seethe exactly but people always disproportionately react to pic related. As soon as it gets to 5 life drain per turn they act like they're all dead next turn and target me. Fucking infuriating.

Fixing up my Counter Intelligence precon. Is there a specific reason to keep this card? I get is can potentially be a 1 mana draw 2 with some blink shenanigans, but I feel like once you have 6 artifacts out you should swing to win at the point or just play something better.

>>97398320In cEDH it's Tayam if you want results. Honestly, it's probably something that has to do with a lot of adding and removing counters like that, superfriends, or sagas.Topdeck-matters can be difficult too, especially if there is a mill or Etali-esque deck you go up against.
>>97396788UNBAN MY ZESTY ELF YOU WOTC FUCKS!
Dug up my Staff of Domination to build a deck with the Brigid I pulled at the prerelease and by the time I had found the fucking thing it didn't feel all that interesting to build anymore.
Would you rather make a Sepiroth Fabled Soldier or Braids Arisen Nightmare deck? Torn between the two. Braids is less popular and imo seems more powerful. Sepiroth just needs a lot more setup too.
>>97398346Its dumb. The avatar set has far stronger cards but its currently cheaper than Lorwyn, while also actually be around msrp for a UB (380 i think).

>>97398478Sealed packs sold on Etsy? That sounds fishy as fuck.

Nonblue player here,I've been trying to brew this guy I've been having a lot of trouble. It feels like he just dies too easily and is too hard to flip for too little payoff. >>97398772I'd think he's a little too expensive mana wise to be expensive on the second hand market.
>>97398744Because WotC is a shitty company that does shitty things? The bottom line comes down to whether you believe WotC would attempt to sabotage in-universe sets and promote UB sets because UB sets are more profitable and they know that going back on everything they ever said about UB to scrap in-universe sets would be a PR disaster unless they could claim in-universe just doesn't sell anymore. If you aren't prepared to believe that, then no amount of evidence regarding Lorwyn pre-release can change your mind, don't even bother replying. If you are willing to believe that, then there is plenty of evidence that this was intentional:>This has never happened before. EVER.You can point to any other printing error you like, you can scream until you're blue in the face that they shipped the wrong Hatsune Miku Secret Lair this one time, but the fact of the matter is there has NEVER been a time where cards from a set 4 months from release somehow ended up in boxes for the current set.>Final Fantasy made a billion dollars, companies love money>Lorwyn already lost its spot in 2025 to make room for a UB set>Lorwyn had the shortest preview window of any set in the last few years, at just 17 full days before release>before Jan 5, more cards had been previewed of TMNT and Marvel individually than all of Lorwyn combined>the lying viper, Mark Rosewater, went back on assurances of UB not being more than 50% of sets by saying that he said they "didn't plan" to make it more than 50% at the time he said it and not that they wouldn'tWhen you actually look at this in totality, it actually looks quite plausible.WotC can't take in-universe sets out back and shoot them in the head because it would be too much too soon and fans would revolt. But if in-universe sets just aren't selling like they used to, what choice does the poor penniless corporation have but to go all in on gambling on another billion dollar cross-over?
>>97398636Most cards only let me draw 2 like quick study and apparently ones like stock up and scroll rack don't count because they don't say "draw" on them. It takes too long for me to draw 3 cards in one turn and by then anyone can just attack and kill my commander easily.
>>97398812Yeah like they never shipped MOM: Aftermath early or anything. Not like this was the center of an infamous story with the Pinkertons.

>>97398812So does Universes Beyond really sell that much more that it's enough to offset the licensing costs? I know big ones like Lord Of The Rings and Final Fantasy exploded so they probably did but I didn't think Doctor Who or Fallout would have been enough. Either way I think it's plausible they tried to sneak in hype for turtles with this. The only thing that makes me question it is that I don't think Wizards is that competent to plot something like this.
How was your guy's prerelease events?>signed up for a 2 headed giant pre-release with buddy I haven't seen much of in 2 years.>he gets a poor deck but gets lucky draws and I got a solid deck>go 2W-1L-1D, would have been 3W, but it went into rounds and we got them to 1 life, so they ended it in a drawIt was fun. He's way better at MTG so he built the decks for us and had a better idea of what to do gameplay wise, but it stinks that the first round went into draw, so neither team got a pack. I should have just asked to flip a coin for it.I gave him the bitter bloom bearer I opened at the end as it was the only card he said he could really use from the set. Overall the set has some nice cards, but none of them seem particularly fun or interesting compared to stuff shown off in other recent sets. There was one card, "Lluwen, imperfect naturalist" that seemed fun. I never was able to use his tap effect once, but creating a bunch of worm tokens sounds silly enough to build a deck around.
>>97398795It's an artifact, it can be cheated out the exact same way as this $30 card
>>97398820You are aware you count the card you draw at the start of turn, right? She doesn't need to be on board to see it, either. You just need her to be in play when you draw the third.
>>97398823That wasn't on them. Companies send out products, some times months in advance. Then they sit in the back rooms of stores until they are able to actually sell them to the public. That is standard practice, and has been for a long time. I remember working at walmart and seeing boxes on pallets of magic cards of sets yet unreleased in the inventory system. The vendor who received aftermath sold it, though intentional, or unintenional I don't know, but the retard who got it decided to upload it, and I think calling in the pinkertons was a bit dramatic, but they guy who did it is still a retard.

>>97398837I didn't say those fuck ups don't count, I said they're not comparable.Again, you are incapable of pointing to any instance of this ever happening before.>oh a set got sent to influencers early!!!!>oh they sent the wrong Hatsune Miku cards!!!!!1compared to>a set that shouldn't even be in fucking print yet somehow happened to end up in pre-release boxes for a completely different setIt's easy to ship something early by accident. It's easy to get confused about which Hatsune Miku cards are being released firstIt's really fucking hard to print the wrong cards 4 months early and put them in the wrong boxes without anyone noticing. Not to mention the fact that you're ignoring all the overwhelming evidence of WotC showing favoritism to UB sets which tips the scale. Balance of probabilities, bitch.>>97398847See above.>>97398856>So does Universes Beyond really sell that much more that it's enough to offset the licensing costs? As I have explained to this general literally dozens of times it is incredibly unlikely that WotC pays any upfront licensing fees. It is vastly more likely that their contract includes a share of sales with a minimum guaranteed payout to the licensor. But in any event, LotR was tied for best selling set ever with Modern Horizons (2?), and Final Fantashit blew them both out of the water. IIRC FF made something like an entire quarter's sales by itself or some shit. So yeah, in the world in which WotC was paying up front for licenses (and they're not) UB would easily be paying for them. Even 1 billion dollar set ever couple years would justify dud sets like Spider-Man.
>>97398891>still won't mention the pinkertons because it doesn't fit his schizo narrativeconcession accepted

>>97399026I think he lived in a state where you may or may not actually have a right to defend yourself in your own home (It depends on how the court feels) But regardless, the pinkertons had no reason to actually BE there since, again, he bought product, he recieved product, product is now his. It's the distributor's fault that man recieved unreleased product B instead of released product A.I honestly am still genuinely baffled that that entire event happened too, since... the leak was already out there, Wizards had literally nothing they could possibly gain from doing it and only shit to lose, but they did it anyways. Typical wizards.

>>97399023Oh yeah, and I just remembered the totally not 100% unintentional "happy little accident" with the bob ross basics where they "accidentally" swapped what version (foil/nonfoil) they sent out to buyers and decided to, in a not at all uncharacteristic act of generosity send out the correct versions to customers, boht free of charge, and without, say, asking for the versions that were "wrongly" sent out back.
>>97399004>According to US law, you actually DO have legal ownership in this caseIf you buy stolen property, even unknown to you, it can and will be taken from you at your own cost. Also, unreleased products are protected under embrago. If he never filmed him opening it, nothing would have happened, but once he broke the embrago protection it was his duty to return the product (which is why the pinkertons were sent to collect.) if he didn't hand it over wizards would have sued him for damages for far more than the cost of the box.

>>97398812I've said it before and I'll say it again: this is a retarded conspiracy. No western corporation in the world wants to pay other people for licenses and to split profits from product. If Hasbro was able to generate the level of interest LOTR or FF created with their in-house sets they would do so in a heartbeat. This conspiracy has the classic retard fallacy that Party A (Hasbro) is somehow intelligent and farsighted enough to intentionally sink their own brand and carry out a multi-year plan BUT they're also so incompetent and stupid that they can't generate their own original IP that could match UB popularity even though they have a captured audience of millions of paypiggies and a household name among nerds. Never attribute to malice what can easily be explained away by stupidity. Hasbro/Wizards have shown time and time again that they're staffed by actual idiots. They're quite literally too stupid to carry out this intentional ship sinking to clear the way for UB. This whole belief reeks of cope from people who can't admit they've sunk years of their lives and thousands (if not tens of thousands) of dollars into a game/company managed by incompetent retards.

>>97399047Don't I know it. I'm dead serious about the 40 misprints. It was the Ur-Dragon precon, and they somehow managed to miss putting in the little foil sticker on the literally every rare (Except the foiled ones, which are printed on a different sheet)When I contacted Wizard's customer service the cunts had the AUDACITY to ask me to send it to them, pay shipping, and they'd send me a correct one back.

>>97399039>he bought product, he recieved product, product is now hisNo he bought one product and received another by mistake, it is not his.You understand this, I know you do. Continue pretending not to understand everyone will write you off as a troll.
>>97399062Slap him and tell him if he ever chimps out at you like that again he can get fucked
>>97399070That reminds me of when I was trying to help a friend learn mtg.>welcome decks are a cute little tutorial>figure I'll go to my LGS and grab some since they're free>LGS is out, but not to worry, you can request them online from WOTC directly>begin filling out the form>they want $30 shipping for two decks that have a rough value of 75 cents
>>97399064>No western corporation in the world wants to pay other people for licenses and to split profits from product.Based on your decades of corporate experience is it?
>>97399064I remember hearing years ago that there was an interview or similar done where wizards pulled back the curtain and showed their design process for magic and it was more or less set up in the most inefficient and idiotic way possible where no one fucking communicated with each other. I doubt it's gotten better.Actually, I should try and find that so I can ask my friend to ask his buddy who's apparently a WOTC insider about it.
>>97399072What do you mean? Do you mean that red/black just had the best cards?
>>97399064>No western corporation in the world wants to pay other people for licenses and to split profits from product. If Hasbro was able to generate the level of interest LOTR or FF created with their in-house sets they would do so in a heartbeat. Also, you know Hasbro collaborated with their own rival, Mattel, just a couple years ago right? https://corporate.mattel.com/news/mattel-hasbro-enter-licensing-agreements-to-launch-monopoly-barbie-edition-transformers-hot-wheels-transformers-unoIt had nothing to do with Hasbro IPs somehow not being as profitable as Mattel's, in fact if that was the case what would Mattel get out of the deal? The collaborated because it was mutually beneficial to their bottom lines to do so.You don't have the first idea about how business works.
>>97399086You don't need to have any corporate experience to be able to realize that corporations are greedy and want all the money for themselves.Hell, wizards themselves proved it a few years back when they tried to "update" the OGL in a way that would let them steal other people's work.
>>97399110See >>97399108 fuckwit
>>97399092One only needs to look at what they think will sell their brand to understand they're genuine actual idiots. Leaving aside the black washing and insistence on making everyone in a fantasy setting look like some fuck you'd see on a subway in any coastal American city, look at what they've pinned their latest hopes for brand recognition on:LootIf you asked me to come up with the most generic, unappealing, basic bitch cutesy fantasy mascot possible I would come up with Loot. Just like how Rian Johnson came up with the Porg for his failed Star Wars movie, which have already been forgotten and buried in pop culture history. But Hasbro doesn't understand why these characters generally don't work or draw in audiences. The boomers who came up with Loot in the board room just went through a power point presentation of popular cutesy mascots like mini-Groot and Pikachu and shat out their attempt to create their own.
>hey bro here's my commanderHow do you respond?
>>97399119Loot would be a better mascot if he only appeared in cards where he was getting horribly maimed or brutalized (PG-13) Like, unironically, people would like him more if he was "the creature that shows up getting murked on every removal card"
>>97399121Politely inform him it needs to be a creature until it transforms unless otherwise stated, but still play a game with him just to see what his deck does.
>>97399121You may only run it if your norwood level is the same or greater
>>97399119>Leaving aside the black washingI see you still don't know what that means.Blackwashing is not the existence of black people, it's replacing characters that are supposed to be a particular race with a black version of that race or people. You can even still have this gay little argument if you just say Kaldheim blackwashed Nordic history, but you're misusing it every time you point to a black person in western fantasy unless its a character that was changed to be black when they're not Aragorn
>>97399108In that case Hasbro has the upper hand because Mattel is the weaker corporation and they're paying for the right to benefit from Hasbro's successful products like Monopoly. Hasbro is the big winner there since they only have to slap Barbie onto their pre-existing product. The situation is quite literally reversed when it comes to UB, since Hasbro is the one going hat in hand to Square Enix and Tolkien's estate because when it comes to selling Magic cards they're the weaker party.
>Oh wow, first time seeing someone play that. I know its a CEDH commander, This is only a 3.>Oh, this is a 2, a strong 2 but a 2.
>>97399119>everyone in a fantasy setting look like some fuck you'd see on a subway in any coastal American city
>>97399142You're a genuine dumbshit. If you can't understand how black people in a western european derived fantasy setting isn't blackwashing there's no point even acknowledging you, which I won't be doing anymore you actual brainlet.
>>97399150I still think the bracket system is horseshit. Even if both decks are technically the same bracket (e.g. 2), a precon with no changes is infin8tely worse than a deck you cooked and tuned to perfection (e.g. shocks and fetches for lands).
>>97399119Why are Loot's cards 3+ mana? Shouldn't he be an early drop with his size? It'd make him more suitable as a mascot critter in a card game comparing him to Kuriboh or Budew.
>>97399159>than a deck you cooked and tuned to perfection (e.g. shocks and fetches for lands). That would make it a three by default. As that is "upgraded."
>>97399119>Boomers still shitting out angry text bricks over LootSomebody go get this unc his cane and hearing-aid
>>97399147>In that case Hasbro has the upper hand because Mattel is the weaker corporationThen what do they need Mattel for? >they're paying for the right to benefit from Hasbro's successful productsNot how the deal worked, it was a collaboration and not a paid license. Literally explained in the article I linked you, but that's fine.>Hasbro is the one going hat in hand to Square Enix and Tolkien's estate because when it comes to selling Magic cardsRight because as corporate entities Squenix and the Tolkien Estate have a higher valuation right? It would be really fucking embarrassing if a simple Google search valued Hasbro at around 12 Billion, Square Enix at around 7 Billion, and the Tolkein Estate at around 500 Million, wouldn't it?You don't know anything about business or licensing, and that's fine. You don't have to be the guy who knows about these things, but you do have to shut the fuck up about them.
>>97399150So what does Glarb does that makes him a CEDH commander?
>>97399152At least that makes sense for the setting. Why is Innistrad, a pre-industrial gloomy mist choked eastern european-esque forest land where presumably the sun shines 90 days of the year, full of dark skinned people? Well we know why.
>>97399185being able to surveil 2 every turn to dig for the cards you need seems like a solid ability, especially if you're playing some sort of graveyard deck, but I'm a casual so i could be wrong.
>>97399200>At least that makes sense for the setting.Cool so when the only plane in Magic is New York that'll be okay and you'll shut up about black people?
>>97399185It's unironically just the fact that he's relatively cheap and solid card advantage. His activated ability lets you dig through your deck at a very good pace and anything you play off the top has a pseudo "draw a card" attached to it.
>>97399207Obviously, retard.
>>97399202That's exactly why. Being able to play off the top of your deck and manipulate it from the commandzone is massive card advantage, and when you are playing in the infinite mana on turn 2 bracket you will just play your entire deck and win.
>>97399216I'd have so much more respect for you if you were just a racist and wanted blacks out of fantasy, but the fact you're like>ew there's too many black people in my european fantasy, WotC please narratively justify having nothing but blacks insteadIs so fucking cringe
>>97398812if it was intentional, why was the mispackaging only localized? targeting a specific market?
>>97399207Mirage was the set for black peopleBut since they don't want to make a set based on a specific place in dominaria anymore then they should make an african plane full of anansi and wakanda references and whatever they believe to be politically correct>they won't btw
>>97399150Every Flubs, Glarb, and Helga player I've met is insufferable, and frequently a troon. What is it about frog commanders that attracts them?
>>97399240>why was the mispackaging only localized? targeting a specific market?>>97398963>It made news without too many people actually getting hands on product. Seems smart to me.
enough about Loot, what do we think about Fleem?
>>97399244the only constant is frogs, and you.why do you play with so many troons, anon?
>>97399218>>97399213>>97399202I thought it had something to do with the casting from the top but I couldn't think of what it would be casted from the top that would be making him such a threat. The surveilling makes sense. Thanks.
