Did you know that in 1999 Dan Abnett did a comic that was basically a wholesale rip-off of 40k except the main character was this vampire lady that he had all the other characters constantly talk about how sexy she was.

It had a feudal space Catholic empire that oppressed mutants, and even had elite warriors with implanted organs and cybernetics using weapons called bolters. Later Dan Abnett had the MC tame a bolter warrior with her vampire pussy.
>>
>sexy lady
pic not related I suppose?
>>

Niggas can't read.
>>

Durham Red's first appearance was in 1987, same year as the first edition of 40k. Strontium Dog, the comic she was in, was one of the original influences of 40k? Are you trolling, or dumb?
>>
> Warhammer vampire lady / independent media crossover
Well, it was pretty cool when Jack Yeovil did it!
>>
>>97397403
The thread should be moved to /co/ since it's about 2000ad
>>
>>97397493
Durham Red may have first appeared in 1987, but Dan Abnett put her in suspended animation and had her wake up in a 40k rip-off in 1999. I have read these comics, anon.
>>
Vampire Hunter D is older than both Warhammer and this shite.
>>
>>97397493
You have to remember that 40K did it all first, is super original, and isn't entirely made from just ripping off other things.
>>
>>97397403
Hey, that's neat.
How does this relate to games and playing them?
>>
>>97397579
completely irrelevant
>>
>>97397495
tbf he used the character in a Warhammer book first before using her in Anno Dracula
>>
>>97397403
Damn where can I read that?
I want to fuck vampire girls

>Bri'ish comic book writer wrote 2000AD comics
Bah gawd, I can't believe it
>>
>>97397639
This. People don't realise but 40k was actually extremely influential
Pretty much every sci-fi in the century was influenced by 40k
>>
You cannot rip off WH40K because WH40K is a ripoff by itself from every other franchise.
>>
>>97397765
Thanks mate
>>
>>97397765
This is only the first part of 3.

>>97397782
It's a bit weird because Abnett was not part of the 2000AD group of writers who did all the stuff that 40k really ripped off, like Nemesis the Warlock, but he was writing for 40k pretty much immediately after this. So he kind of turned a 2000AD comic into a live audition to write 40k shit.
>>
>>97397845
Gives me the entire comic anon
>>
>>97397853
Scarlet Cantos > Vermin Stars > Empty Suns is the whole set of far future Durham Red stories. That is just the first one.
>>
>>97397890
Then it probably hasn't been collected since the 1990s and was never uploaded online
>>
You want a Death Battle? Try THIS;

Durham Red Vs. Vampirella.

Place yer bets, sqibs.
>>
>>97397920
Probably Vampirella, she simply has more crossovers
>>
>>97397403
>Durham Red is a British comics character, originally created in 1987
OP YOU FAGET

People are really fucking stupid man.

Hot

My favorite Warhammer 40k ripoff is War of the Worlds. It's very unoriginal since Warhammer did the alien war idea much earlier, as well as the idea of virus bombing aliens to death. But H.G. Wells manages to make steampunk science fiction interesting despite it not having space marines and bolters in it.

I really liked that warhammer ripoff movie that came out a few years ago, with the twink main character? What was it called, DUNC I think? That was a decent movie but man, he should sue, such an obvious rip off.
>>
>>97397403
Why did so many pistols from 1990s media have that exact (entirely fictional) silhouette?
>>
>>97398179
Base it on a Desert Eagle and then just make the barrel longer?
>>
>>97398179
Robocop pistol.

Kim Newman's my guilty pleasure, pulpy schlock with loads of LoEG-style crossovers and references. His Moriarty/Moran short stories are my favourite Holmes fiction, loved his Genevieve Warhammer books as well.
>>
>>97398178
Dune. The focus on close combat is clearly based on 40k, the hatred towards AI too.
>>97398159
Isn't Wells a guy from the XIX century? I think war of the worlds predate 40k
>>
>>97398659
Nah I'm pretty sure it's pronounced DUNC
