Thirty (30) starting life is objectively superior to fourty (40)
What does the future hold for Magic lore?
>>97410240Realistically, nothing. The fact that the best Magic story in the last 7+ years was UginxBolas fanfiction says everything about how bad WotC is at creating stories.
I wanted to buy one of the new precons and when checking on archidekt, they claim it's Bracket 4 because it has two card combos. What kind of bullshit is that, I always thought you need to have serious tutoring and game changer to be in that bracket. Is Jund really that strong in Commander?
>>97410307The world shaper precon is no doubt just b2 in strengthThe confusion started when gavin said b2 is supposed to be precon strength while forgetting precons are products designed to go in different directions and yes that includes having an infinite on turn 3 so he quickly backtracked on that, but that meant stock precons can actually be excluded from b2 because of technicalities>just replace the dakmor gitrog combo from the deck if you're playing in a b2 pod, you dont actually need it
>>97410240There is no future for magic loresure they can put out articles and stories but the only real mtg lore in my mind is the story told by the cards themselves and wotc has fucked that in half to the point where it cannot be resuscitated.
>>97410355I mean the auntie deck with Hapatra and Blowfly Infestation - ok, technically it's infinite but just because the two cards are there doesn't mean you get them early on battlefield. The deck looks slow.
>>97410422>ok, technically it's infinite but just because the two cards are there doesn't mean you get them early on battlefield. The deck looks slow. You are correct but gavin banning 2 card infinites is a concession to those in the casual playerbase not wanting infinites to cheapen their games, you already have a couple of them whining just last threadYou can still play infinites, just make them 3+ cards that on average can be deployed turn 8 in b2

>>97410240I can’t tell you how painful this question is to me. Up until about 2019, I was a dyed-in-the-wool Vorthos. Read every story, owned a lot of the physical books, kept track of everything that was going on.War of the Spark…wasn’t great. But we went back to self-contained narratives afterwards, so I was willing to endure a bit of turbulence. Calix’s introduction in THB gave me pause—the rules around planeswalker sparks were pretty straightforward and Klothys shouldn’t have been able to arbitrarily create a being with one. But it was Niko that really made it clear to me that things were going to get worse before they got better. Not because of the gender issue, but how the backstory was presented, the focus on a single power as the character’s gimmick, and the extent to which their attire didn’t even pretend to draw from their plane of origin or any of the planes they’d visited up to that point. They were an X-Man, not a planeswalker. But I’d been invested in the game since Onslaught block and the sunk cost fallacy is a bitch. I stuck it out through March of the Machine, and what a wet fart of an ending that was. But, hey, we’d be getting self-contained stories again, right? Nah, now every year is a story arc! Oh, and we return to Ravnica and completely alter the technology level and social assumptions. And then the unending deluge of Universes Beyond, crowding out the real sets, halving the resources available to develop their worlds and stories…I used to care. God, I used to care so much. And, even now, we’ll get sets like Bloomburrow, Tarkir, and Lorwyn that remind me of why I used to. But, before I even have the chance to get the cards into my hands, something else happens to remind me why it’s so hard to care these days. I want to be optimistic, I want to have hope, but I’m too tired.
>>97410987Unironically read the gay Bolas fic. If you're willing to get over the fact it's all setup for Ugin to go balls deep in Bolas, it's probably one of the best MtG stories ever written because it manages to completely reframe Ugin and Bolas as drastically more nuanced characters while still acknowledging all of their established writing. The fact it acknowledges Ugin's chronic fencesitting as an actual problem that drastically impacted Bolas as they were growing up is more than anything WotC did.

>remove most of the banlist>bring back the old legendary rule>bring back the tuck rule>ban all UB cards by defaultThere. I fixed EDH.
>>97411135>>ban all UB cards by defaultOnly reasonable one here, still mulling over forking this general.
>>97411135
>>97411163meant to post this
>>97411135I don't see how old legend rule or tuck are particularly beneficial for the game.>Old legend ruleThe only real impact of this is that it makes blue clone effects into kill spells, which isn't exactly a gaping design space hole. There's some cases this is beneficial like Ragavans or TORs killing each other, but it doesn't address the underlying fact these cards are problematic on their own.>Tuck ruleThe whole reason it was removed is that once commanders were good enough to start building around, the threat of tuck suppressed this type of deckbuilding in favor of the old "99 generic value engine cards". This wasn't helped by the fact that the best tuck card was Spell Crumple, followed by Oblation and Condemn. These colors aren't exactly struggling for good removal or lasting ways to deal with commanders. The easier it is to semi-permanently remove a commander, the more incentivized players are to make a deck that's just a staple pile, because said staples don't rely on their commander to generate immense value.

>>97410240Lore is for brainlets and wizards can't write good stories or characters to save their lives. Even if they could, in order to create a brand with wide appeal they can't just rely on books and other written material, they need to create visual media. And I'm not talking some gay ass live action Netflix show and autism simulators/paypig squeezers like arena, I'm talking a high quality cartoon show that evokes classic styles in order to stand out (like Ralph Bakshi or even 80s style SMCs) from the bland generic style of current western animation, and extremely good single player games, maybe some roguelikes or even a heroes of might and magic clone where you build a Commander deck to paint a map.Of course again this is all shit that is far beyond the scope of wizards capability to handle or even think of, and in my opinion Magic's official settings and characters are already too shitty and ruined to build anything off of and any media with them would wind up being quickly forgotten basic bitch fantasyslop that wouldn't bring in any new players, same way Arcane didn't bring anyone into LoL that wasn't already playing the game.Magic's "lore" was at its best when there was none, when a set had no written out story and you just made up your own head canon about what was happening based on art and sparse flavor text. There's nothing worth caring about with UW writing anymore.

>>97411623I use it to flip Avatar Aang on an end step. When it hits your turn you get a 5 mana discount (including generic costs) on all cards you cast. It's incredibly explosive for an otherwise mediocre commander so basically nobody sees it coming.

>>97412623it depends on your deck tech and how many tokens you can make/sacrifice in a single turn. in my rakdos token deck, mirkwood bats is MVP because I have turns where I create ~10 tokens and sac them all, then generate 10 treasure and sac them all again.
So with Lorwyn hitting arena, I tried making a Bre Soutarm deck in brawl, obviously a much different beast to commander, but it helps with practice. If arena wasn't a shitfest of rigging the game for the paypigs there'd be more actual learning going on for me, BUT, i think she's best served keeping a high land count, and even gaining a single life off a soul sister means you can topdeck a nonland to put in hand. >>97412905>try to play this way>someone at the board starts snowballing>no one stops it so I have to be the one to step up>spend most of the game trying to stop the other from winning and never have a chance to build up my board>Some other guy eventually just combos off or whatever in the meantime and loseI still have fun, but this is basically 90% of my games
>>97412927Same. I've grown used to it
>>97412916Why?I just want to run a cool infect/proliferate kilo deck. Also, it has winter orb and static orb, so it is bracket 4 (not like it matters much since my pod only loosely follow brackets), and they work great in a deck with lots of ways to tap/untap.
>>97412905>>97412927>>97412937Maybe target the combo player?Maybe let people have a board?
>>97412948>Maybe let people have a board?I'm a control deck. So, no.
>>97412948The issue I have is that I regularly play against a player whose decks have a tendency to snowball really fast, and a player whose decks have a tendency to just suddenly explode out of nowhere
>>97412808Cause they suck? Why would you ever cast them over your commander? They do what he does, but shitty and slow>tutorsYou probably wont need them!
>>97412908Did you even read the post you histrionic faggot
>Be me>Having a bad time>Some shit fuck has 4 creatures without flying but are 15+ P/T each>Another player, has a 8/8 with flying, vigilance and and double strike and a bunch of stuff that could be used for chump blocking>He can hit anyone and be fine.>So instead of attacking the person who is the threat,>He attacks me, for 16.>Turn goes around>I manage to kill one of the threats big creatures when he also decided to attack me with something I had just drawn on my my turn>Guy with the 8/8 flier again slaps me for 16.>Literally at 1 health>The threat, would have been dead if he attacked him instead the last 2 turns>Threat over runs and kills the the table with a bunch of shitI don't understand why people do this shit. If he wanted triggers and his only creature that could have attacked was that, and I was the ONLY one he could hit. That would be one thing. But I wasn't nor was is for triggers. It was just putting damage out to the limper for the sake of it.
>>97413006From what I've seen people get this dumb because they think they can't beat the other guy and would rather be in 2nd place than 3rd
>>97413006Did you talk to the guy who was hitting you about changing targets? Did you assess the board from his perspective? Did you talk to the guy who was hitting you after the game to at least try to have him learn something if you ever played again? If you didn’t do any of these, you are unsociable weirdo not communicating in a social communication game.
>>97413006Ive had this happen to me more then once and its infuriating each time. I always remind that if theyre not gonna attack the biggest threat on the board then they should jusy not attack at all. Its not like theyre forced to. Or better yet, I make deals with them. Attack the scary guy and I promise we won't attack you until the threat is dealt with. Usually works and if it doesn't I can at least say I told you so when the his carelessness loses him the game.
>>97413047I tried, he didn't want any deals. He just wanted to "apply pressure," what pressure is being applied to the game by attacking the weakest player? I don't know.
>>97412978You are right. I got too stuck with how thematic they were, besides imagining explosive turn with Tekuthal (4 mana for 4 proliferates with engine).Still not convinced on the tutors. Even mystical tutor I could see, but why not enlightened tutor when I am so artifact heavy? What about some of my charge centric artifacts with potent effects? How many of those do I need for coretapper to be worth it? Although at the very least it could feed my counter based mana rocks. Also, wuicksilver dagger helps me with draw and landing player damage with infect creatures. Should I cut more of the toxic creatures (since infect > toxic)? I have a couple of support creatures which I think help a lot, such as unctus and emry, I fear having too low a density of poison sources (and I do know I just need to see and then proliferate away). Finally, what do you think of the deck's name?Kilo's Dastardly Toxic Tap Dance
>Bought this for a few bucks for my scorpion god deck in 2018>42 bucks on tcg player nowDamn son
>>97413140I despise those "investors"
Hexproof doesn't stop blight, righ?
How many spin down dice do you have?
>>974132735?
>>97413226Id have to read the blight text but I doubt it. I think its written to be like a edict sort of effect.
>>97413273Just the one. Enjoy the rat.
>>97413293>indian mat>ratPoetry
>>97413273Man, that izzet one is the best. I used to have one but lost it at some point
>>97413031is there a second place in edh? I have never played it at the LGS so I don't know about any ranking systems
>>97413390There is not.Thee is you win, you lose, or you draw. There is not "but I got silver though"
>>97413390I mean some people at least in my experience seem to think so
>>97413064your problem is that you are trying to reason with a low IQ wall.what you have to do the moment he tries to make a retarded move to is mock and shame him. bonus points if you can make at least one other opponent agree with you. a retard hates nothing more in the world than feeling like a retard.>b-b-but isn't that mean/obnoxious/[whatever gets your panties in a twist because you are a faggot who prefers silent suffering instead of standing up and slapping retards into their dirty faces]???are you playing against women who break the moment you say a forbidden word, or against men?
ITT: Forbidden Tech
Using this print when upgrading the Blight Curse precon so I can have David Bowie in the deck and sing Magic Dance.
>>97410884No
>>97413453It really wasn’t even a good movie, you only remember it because of nostalgia. Legend was the superior dark fantasy in every single way (watch the international cut if you’re American)
>>97412881It wouldn’t be a unban if they changed the text of the card.I would though, but not if it could apply to green. The majority of high CMC commanders on EDHREC with 5+ mana have green, so they really don’t need it.If they printed>Ruby Lotus>Jet Lotus>Sapphire Lotus>Pearl LotusAnd they each said your commander had to have a mana value of 5 or greater, then yes.
>>97412881NoThey should also ban Sol Ring
>>97412327I like this thing, makes your kill instants double as protection if needed. Should be fairly easy to grab with goblin engineer or something.
>>97413549Im a retard, meant to post veilstone amulet
>>97412541do you just photoshop the art into a card frame or is there something that does the bulk of the formatting for you
>>97413566I don't know what that anon is using but most people use either card conjurer or magic set editor
>>97413586Is there any reason to not run this in every deck that's in green?
>>97411135I agree with the first and last thing.
>>97413590Market price
>>97413590money
I want to make a new deck but I don't know what
>>97413453Final Fantasy sucks but Labyrinth is great
>>97413426Great card for Neganfags.
>>97413426The real power of this card comes from its absolutely bizarre phrasing dealing psychic damage to anyone unfamiliar with it
>>97413426Resident cha tress player here again, 5CMC for that effect is unplayable.Grievous Wound is 7 CMC, they can’t gain life, and their life halves any time they take damage, I still would not play it.If you’re running an enchantress deck and want similar cards:>Clawing Torment>Wither Crown>Inevitable End>Visions of Brutality
