Any scale, any company, any miniatures.>Examples of games that qualify.A Song of Ice and Fire, Argatoria, Batman Miniature Game, Carnevale, Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings, Deadzone, Dragon Rampant, Dropfleet and Dropzone Commander, Freebooter's Fate, Frostgrave, Gaslands, HeroClix, Kings of War, Maelstrom's Edge, Malifaux, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Masters of the Universe: Battleground, Moonstone, Oathmark, OnePageRules, Open Combat, RelicBlade, Rumbleslam, SAGA, StarCraft, Stargrave, Sludge, Urban War, Void, Warcaster, Warmachine, Xenos Rampant, Xenotactics......and anything else that doesn't necessarily have a dedicated thread.>Examples of companies providing rules and/or miniatures for alternative wargames.Archon Studio, Atomic Mass Games, Black Site Studios, CMON, Goblin King Games, Mantic, North Star Military Figures, OnePageRules, Osprey, Para Bellum, Seb Games, Spellcrow, TTCombat, Victrix, Wargames Atlantic, Warlord Games......and many other publishers.>Places to get minis; Updates to the minis list are welcome.https://docs.google.com/document/d/1D2DbNJ2mYAUxh5P9Pq9NZqS5tXHGn0i2JhZchEwbA2I/edithttps://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/373197.page>Novice Troves, meant to serve as a sampler of available systems. Ya fucked up anon
>>97443192Yes, and I'll continue to fuck up time after time again.
>go on Kickstarter to see if there's anything interesting in the minis space>it's all STLs, and mostly titty cashgrabs at thatHas anybody seen anything interesting around?
>>97443218>Has anybody seen anything interesting around?yes, but I'm always just a little too late stumbling upon them>Red Bard Games Frogmen>Rat Storm Rising
>>97443218These lovecraftian gribblies from Archon studios look like they could be used in a lot of different games. I think they're also plastic.
>>97443218I guess the ongoing tradewars make the "outsource production to China" -model even more sketchy than in the past.
>>97443218Not for a while
>>97443744I didn't chip in to that Kickstarter because I've hard many bad things about siocast as model material.
>>97443754It's not the best, but not the worst either. People who insist on using files on their models hate it because it burs. Use a sharp knife instead.
>>97443851So what's the worst?
>>97444012NTA, but in my experience resin is the worst for gaming due to its brittleness.
>>97444012Depends on the model on question and casting quality, and what your priorities are. Tire weighs are toxic and suspectible to leadrot, but nicely soft and chewy.
>>97443218STL 3d printer CADshit is the epitomy of SLOP. I remember when 3D printers were first blowing up we all thought it was going to be the future of hobbying, printing up entire armies on demand! Instead we just got flooded with amateur sculpted or AI generating GARBAGE at every turn
>>97444070While CAD is useful I agree, sculpting by hand creates a model with a lot more character to it in part because the sculpt has to obey the laws of physics while being built. The proportions from sculpting are also nicer IMO for painting.
>>97444033Seconding resin, especially 3D print resin models, especially especially when the model makers don't know how to work with resin. They're brittle like the old cast resin and now that its DIY you get toxic resin grease that refuses to be removed from basic cleaning so if you fuck up in any way you may transfer resin onto other surfaces. I used to print models now I just buy them off etsy or something if I want a model.
>>97443744>>97443754I did. Progress is sloooooooow. I'm realistically expecting this one in several years. If that.
>>97444012Board game rubbery resticCan't scrape it or file it and it warps
>>97444616Agreed. Original Reaper Bones is this way as well.
>>97444012Add soft plastic to the list.I love 1/72 but men fuck clearimg the moldlines.
>>97443218Not on kickstarter but look at the expensive dinos and monsters I found at barnes and noble. I'm thinking ima get the ice mammoth and paint it over to be a stone mutant mount, and the long legged alligator as an attack beast for a warzone tribes of earth Templar warband. Someone already took the giant lava scorpion that was there last week https://us.schleich-s.com/
Their orange velociraptors hidden for some reason on the site are nice but I'd feel bad shooting them up, and their awesome dunkleosteus and great white are too expensive for something that's water only so...
>>97443086So uh, no gringos here has ordered shit from the EU recently?
>>97446126Meant in regards to >>97441116
>>97444033>>97444137I use an ABS-like resin and have no issues.
>>97447213ABS is plastic
I need a mini model scanning service to archive models as high quality stls.Anybody know of some services? How much do they charge for the scanning and scan cleanup? No questions asked on whatever model it is?
Obsidian Protocol anyone? I saw that they opened the preorder of it on AmiAmi and it may quench my thirst for a proper Mecha wargame that isn't Battletech since I hate the design of thoseNot sure what to expect from a chinese-japanese Wargame rules but the models look good
>>97449432they mean a Resin with ABS-like properties.
Looking for a fun small scale skirmish game for chaos warbands a la oldschool realms of chaos. Currently got my eyebon Sword Weirdos, any other recommendations? Ideally for 5-6 models a size with a big guy.(Not my models)
>>97449922>Brutality Skirmish>Fantastic Scuffles>Open CombatI haven't tried this three yet, just read the books. They all seem simple, but still more complex than Weirdos.
Has anyone besides GW released hard plastic monstrous cavalry (would fit on 75x50mm bases) for 28mm scale?
>>97443386Those do not scratch the same itch as the 1947 Dusty Mi-go
>>97449557Are Japs able to make something that isn't mecha?
>>97449557I came here to ask about this too lolI like the models and they're reasonably priced, but I want to know more before committing to buying two core sets.
Did the Konflikt 47 2nd edition book ever get dropped on here? I dont feel like buying a PDF copy when I already have the physical.
>>97450813I forgot to say I did check the troves, I only saw 1st edition stuff
>>97450322Dunno how fussy you are about hardness of plastic, but warmahordes had tons of that. Also Fireforge and WGA if you need new stuff
>>97449922Maybe Reign in Hell?
What are solo wargames like?
>>97451462Fun enough, but a big part of the game for me is playing with my friends and having a laugh.
>>97451536Sorry for not being clear, but I was wondering what the gameplay loop is like.Is it like Kingdom Death where there's a sort of "AI" controller? Or is it like solo chess where you simply play both sides?
>>97451972Depends on the game homie, OPR for example uses a "If X go to Y" sort of setup, some games require you to draw cards, other games respond to preset parameters that respond to your actions against them.
>>97451119Fireforge had Pegasus knights. Wga doesn't do monstrous cavalry in plastic. Will check out those warmachine kits then. Are they multipart and is the material easier to work with than resin?
>>97453129I was taking monstrous to mean not horses, but you mean actual monsters? There's less of that, I guess, but the wmh plastics are easier to work than resin, they are just a little softer than gw stuff.
>>97450322Mantic might have some in hard plastic, but their aesthetic is a mixed bag and they do have a lot of resin.
>>97455155>mantic I am probably the one man who likes their dwarfs and because of that I believe there are people who genuinely like the other lines of mantic plastics. Maybe even their elves.I hope they are archived as stls in their vault program.
>>97455185I like their Elves and Dwarfs.Sadly, they decided to up their prices to a point where they try to compete with GW costs and I stopped buying from them, despite owning a number of KoW and Warzone armies. ALSO, a big FUCK YOU to Mantic for removing all their metal related miniatures. I still needed a lot of my Abyssal Dwarf army!
Vapnartak show at York Racecourse on Sunday. I don't need to be buying loads of stuff but it's still a nice show. It's mostly sellers, the usual Foundry/Bad Squiddo/Pendraken types plus some smaller interesting ones, a huge bring and buy sale that is like crack to me, and normally a handful or so of display/participation games, less than you might get at Partizan.
>>97456613Wait did a 10mm company+ scale starwars game get made or is that some other game they're using SW miniatures for?
>>97456613>>97457824>these shipsIts X-wing map.
>>97457878Its got AT-ATs and infantry stands. Didn't into X-Wing was that part of it too? Thought it was space dogfighting.
>>97456613>>97457878That seemed like a pain in the ass to play on, aerial combat makes sense. Got any more pics from the day?
>>97455185>>97455913+1 for mantic Dwarves and Elves. My original Elf army leaned heavily into Sea Guard
