I like the concept of the Starhawk, but I have to say that I personally don't like how it looks. Which sounds stupid, because I don't have anything against Hammerhead-looking starships generally, there's just something about the Starhawk I can't quite reduce into words that makes it ugly to me.

X-Wing and TIE Fighter were a lot more like actual space sims. A joystick was 100% needed and you were still using the keyboard for a shitload of commands and settings while flying. If you were really lucky you could take a missile to your TIE fighter but you would be severely crippled and need to return to base. Usually being in a crippled TIE meant you had another missile or an X-wing jockey coming in to finish you off before you got to the carrier. You learned to fly erratic, speedmatch your target and keep an eye on your front and rear radar screens at all times.

Also made me wonder why the Empire didn't allow more near-human species into their ranks like Thrawn but then again he was allowed in because of palps and he was a skilled tactician. Back on topic, most are near-humans are human enough either with a different skin color or tiny features like ear shape, different facial features or cover in spots for all we know but can still wear a imperial uniform without having to make costly tailored made uniforms and armor to fit different alien physiologies

Partially agree. I'd say Twi-Leks are probably a no, due to them not being Near-Humans. Near-Humans are those who, with the right make-up could pass for human. Pantorans being a prime example. No way to really cover up the head-tentacles.

The Pantoran was a multiplayer skin only
But Lost Stars had a human with green hair, Bertroff Hissa (barely canon, apparently a hybrid) and the green-haired sharp-toothed Imperial from Lop & Ocho.

They probally take any near-human who can fit in a suit, and that probably slants towards very few and hybrids.

How much cortosis metal would it take to shut down a lightsaber? I assume a single wire's worth wouldn't do the job, but obviously the energy to mass ratio it can disrupt isn't exactly one of those details any writers laid out.

The illustration is the same as the Vader and Luke models when they are posed together. There is no Yoda or Sheev though.

I think it just depends where you are, its fine where I am, slowed down a bit because of SP being put on the back burner for Legion/MCP but still get new people now and then. I kinda like the idea of doing an RPG where each member of the party is the captain of their own ship, focusing more on fleet engagements and blockade running than just the usual "You're 5 guys in the Not-Milennium Falcon."

I like the idea of each member of the group managing their ship, as well as sending their own crew on missions between sessions. Spending money on upgrading their crew, buying mission specialists, mercenaries, replacing fighters and repairing the ship rather than just new weapons and personal gear. Every so often, the captains need to come together to lead a ground assault mission and stuff, but the real meat and potatoes is managing your ships, cooperating with each other in fleet actions, managing equipment and trying to stay 1 step ahead of The Empire or Separatists or New Republic, depending on the faction you're playing as.

Has anyone ever tried this? How well does it actually work?

They're supposed to look intimidating, which also tends to look cool. The stormtrooper armor is designed to make you see them as faceless, impersonal instruments of the Imperial war machine, rather than individual people that you might feel bad for when they inevitably get killed by the heroes, but that stark monochrome colorscheme and face-concealing helmet design are also really memorable and iconic. Meanwhile the good guys are supposed to look relatable and not too scary, and should have their faces exposed so you can see their expressions and view them as people instead of faceless mooks, but that also means they tend to be stuck with some variety of generic soldier uniform, possibly with a silly hat.
The clone troopers are kind of an exception, but that's because they were supposed to literally be disposable interchangeable mooks, who ended up developing more personality both in- and out of universe.

I always found that strange that characters intended to be relatable with personalities end up being flatter than wooden planks and yet the ones intended to be disposable mooks ended up having amazing character in writing.
It is kind of like how writers accidentally make the heroes assholes and the characters readers are supposed to dislike likeable.
What causes this and what is the name for this phenomenon if one exists?
