mono-black midrange demon control is so much better than mono-black aggro in standard but I only ever see the latter

After 1 year of cbt doing 4 wins/day I gathered 200 rare wildcards 80 mythic and 300 uncommon/commons. That's 5 decks for likely 300 hours of my life
>>
>>97451501
You could've done like 200 hours of draft over the course of the year and you'd have every card from those sets
>>
>bro why would you play the free mode just buy one draft and go 5+ wins every single time
>>
>>97451515
depends how good he is at draft.
but if you spend 200 hours learning to improve at draft you should get decent enough if you aren't shit at the game.
and honestly learning how to draft is by far the best use of Arena. don't even have to spend any real money, like we used to back in paper the day.
learning to draft is what is actually going to get you good at Magic. if you never draft you'll never be good.

You guys always forget that draft isn't fun.

>just buy one draft and go 5+ wins every single time
This but unironically. Arenababs are awful at draft, going 5+ wins is completely doable up to like plat as long as you're not retarded.

>>97451566
If you don't enjoy it then you don't have to play it, but it sounds like anon wasn't enjoy doing dailies either and yet he still stuck to it.

I don't care about Standard and if you remove all the drafted cards as useless junk because 0,1% chance any see Timeless play, doing draft for prizepacks only and going even or slightly better does more harm than good especially with unavoidable 2-3 blowouts spitting in your face.
Flashback draft also feels like hard mode even if you are Silver you get matched with Platinum+, people who drafted it when the set first went live 4 years ago.
>>
>>97451501
200 rare wildies in a year seems like a lot

I played 30x Constructed Events and performed well + bought & completed every Mastery Pass from it too. It's still very little for the amount of time spent and the pain of having to boot it up daily.

I think it's hilarious the moment you mention card economy bad the noncis spergs advice to get 70% winrate and read themselves into a format they don't want to play. Guess what the majority is getting farmed and won't have fun reading hundreds hours worth of different guides for the 10 sets per year for each time they gamble 10$ entry fee just to maybe get stuff 2x fast.
constructed events on the other hand is the same format most people want to play anyway so I jam my braindead auras in historic against starter decks to #1 first week for screenshot. Pls be the real one

Draft is honestly probably the worst aspect of MtG as a whole and is constantly hamstringing interesting and creative development by funneling at least 80% of their resources into art and printing for dogshit 2/2 vigilance chaff that nobody will ever look at again after prerelease. Every other format is balanced around drafting and is the reason why constructed feels more boring than it should be, like how you’re not allowed to print good mill cards anymore because it makes draftroons sad when their 40 card deck gets dumpstered a la Eldraine limited.

I wouldn't recommend flashback drafts for that reason. The player pool is way too small and yeah, you have to have played a bunch of the set when it came out to do well.
'Current set draft' (for the first weeks a set is out) is by far the best format in MTG and has been for many years now.
Also right that Constructoids only play 0.1% of cards. Sets are made for draft. Constructoids get to play 2 cards from each set. Draftgods get to play 200 cards from each set.
>>
>>97452039
It's funny to see some retard complain that mill is too overpowered in draft when that card was so bad it was borderline unplayable in Limited, and EoE wasn't even a fast format.
Just zero understanding of how the game works or what was going on in Eldraine limited.
>>
Yeah a random UW rare that you'll draft one copy of in a set with no other mill cards is exactly the same as consistently getting 5+ copies of Merfolk Secretkeeper at common in a set where blue/black got tons of other mill support, you fucking dope
>>
What are we running for MWM bros?
>>
>>97452000
Draft is the only thing that is somewhat throttling WOTC's urge to print cards that keep standard in a state of turn 3 kill from an empty board.
>>
>>97451730
idk it depends
shocklands are getting passed like crazy this set

it's a good set to be a raredrafter, finished out my steam vents playset from one draft where I got passed 3 of them. Jump-In gives 100% shockland for the lorwyn packs, but the chances of getting the packs in the first place are slim

The first few hours of MWM is always sobering because it shows you just how many people don’t know how to build their own deck, it’s either a gimped version of their usual netdeck that folds because it’s missing half the pieces that make it good, 35 hares/slimes, or depending on the event, whatever optimal meme build that ends up on reddit after a day or two.
>>
>>97453425
don't most decks kill you without combat damage?

Magic is so on-rails most of the time that decks are basically playing themselves but the rare moment where you actually get to do something even remotely clever or creative is such a high

should I save 1,000 gold an get the discount draft token or just get 2 pick-2 drafts?

for context I only lost once with a merfolk pick 2 draft deck. Then tried a elf deck in premier draft and proceed only won 2 games before running into 3 kithkin decks in a row that stomped me.

I like draft because I am able to place creatures and not just get constant counter spells and board wipes, but I fear I might just suck at drafting in the non meme drafts.
>>
>>97455037
Real draft might pay for another run if you do well. Pick2 probably won’t

Pick 2 got better value than Premier now. Buy packs or constructed events are the way.

I was #1000 mythic 12 seasons in a row in Pioneer but now same deck struggled to reach mythic because it got no CSC, Unholy Annex or Badgermolecub.
