Any games out there about places best left unexplored?

Yes. AD&D.
>>
>>97456675
original d&d
>>
>>97456680
>>97456682
Isn't D&D about how you actually explore places because there is always treasure and experience in there?

AD&D Darksun was basically "everything outside the source material is 99% dust, fire or death"

Fairly certain that Ravenloft has some special mist that just eats you if you go into it as well, but isn't that just for railroading rather than being a place that could be explored but should not be?
>>

Ravenloft is just "horror module" heaven. It's meant for quick, short fun horror romps and then back to the proper main quest after it.
>>
Blue Planet. I went through and still go through the OG Trove.
>>

GURPS can be about this if you use your imagination.
>>
>>97456996
The results of go through the special mist of Ravenloft can be randomized at author GM's discretion though

Speaking of random events, Rifts: Atlantis has some pretty cool tables for things that can happen while crossing the ocean.

I always wanted to run a dieselpunk submarine/underwater campaign with GURPS but don't know anyone autistic enough.
>>
>>97457105
What's the average session look like? Kinda like Star Trek but underwater?
>>
>>97457115
Yeah basically, docking with underwater bases with on-foot sections, battling other subs and abyssal horrors etc, players manning different stations on the bridge. You need a system with some depth when it comes to vehicles for this, especially regarding damage as you need damage to be modular and not just universal for the submarine.

Nice, that sounds badass.

Yes, and those places are incredibly deadly and will easily kill you. If there's LITERALLY nothing worth it to justify exploring, then you don't have a game, do you?

Your next character can always get the stuff your previous guy dropped
