I like the one with magnets under it, it uses magnets under the board to move the pieces. There are no moving parts inside it, so it doesn't eventually wear out. That franensteinian contraption is completely superflous. It's not a bad exercise for the mind to move the pieces yourself to study, it's stimulating so you won't get bored and very likely makes you more chess literate.
