I think the cyoa suggestions have just been pretty lackluster. Most of those complaints disappear or get drowned out when there's a halfway decent MP to play. There just isn't anything at the moment, and there won't be until we get some OC or someone comes up with a genius way to breathe life into a past cyoa we've already played to death.

This is by the retard that thinks cyoas should be ttrpgs, that rolling is a good mechanic, and that added fuking minigames to his cyoa. I didn't finish reading all of it yet but for now it just looks like Facility but worse. Also we would need to choose one of 6 settings collectively or make one up.
>>
>>97505531
What if we chose one of the settings, then used Facility for the powers?
>>
>>97505540
Personally I don't really like any of the settings that much, one of them is lierally worm and another is half of arknights. I wouldn't know about the powers because I didn't get to that part yet. Did people here like the powers from facility? I remember they were called boring.
>>
Ultimate Questioners! I was wondering, if our characters may be working in different Territories, how can we write them working together? Does the Hero Association have some kind of fast travel option?
>>
>>97505595
Anon, we already know that cyoas set in too big an area don't work. This one is already on life support and it barely started, don't kill it by allowing anons to follow the instinct to fuck off in every possible direction.
>>
>>97505462
I have a bad feeling we'll be waiting on that spark of creativity for quite a while then. Everyone wants an amazing GM, no one wants to (or even has the skills to) step up and take one for the team.

Plus there's all the obvious barnacles hanging around these days who just want to shit on everything regardless of quality or theme.
>>
>>97505500
What is it with you people and your obsession with generic superpower games. Can you think of nothing else?
>>
>>97505654
He asked for OC
And if you want something different then you're free to suggest something else
>>
>>97505672
I have, though not recently because it gets tiring to keep talking.

I liked kaiju.
I liked the robots.
I liked star wars in both warlord and jedi flavors.
I liked mudcore in either king or nation builder flavors.
I liked some of the dragon based adventures.
I liked that one older adventure where you have a starship and missions and such though I cant remember its name.
I liked pokemon mystery dungeon.
There was like one scrapper-adjacent adventure i thought was ok, dont recall which one though.
The classic African or Chinese warlord ones are dated as hell, but still acceptable.
The one where you design a tank really entertained my autism well.
And I thought that the wasteland character maker was at least good enough, if not amazing.

I have suggested or supported all of these ideas at different points. There are many different themes and styles among them, I do not have a monomania for one specific genre like some anons seem to, and so I try to be at least somewhat flexible.

You're probably just doing the thing people do where they keep asking you to jump through hoop after hoop, but just on the off chance you're not shitposting, this is my genuine response.
>>
>>97505781
>I liked some of the dragon based adventures.
When did this happen?
>>
>>97505804
Those were quite a while ago, but I wanted to give as fair a shout as I could to as many of the ones I could remember liking as possible.
>>
>>97505804
Also anon was talking about suggesting ideas, not just runs that got off the ground. Some of the ones I like never actually got rolling like the other adventures. But I have advocated for them in the past even so.
>>
>>97505781
>I liked that one older adventure where you have a starship and missions and such though I cant remember its name.
Stardust?
>The one where you design a tank really entertained my autism well.
Dunno
ngl of all of these, only pmd is likely to get another run, maybe star wars and the scrapper thing too
We don't have any GMs willing to run arenas so the warlords have no hope, heroes of the wastes is never getting another run(unless googledocs anon delivers that update he lied about making), idk about the dragon or tank ones, robot and kaiju are recent enough their reasons should be clear, and I hate mudcore and kingdom builders so I'm actively praying on their downfall.
>>
>>97505878
Stardust sounds right yeah. The tank one had like three pages of building, selecting guns and chassis and shit, and i think a 4th optional page of missions for single player runs.
>>
>>97505641
>Plus there's all the obvious barnacles hanging around these days who just want to shit on everything regardless of quality or theme.
I really feel this is overstated. The suggestions have been low quality lately. There are anons who dislike shonen. There are anons who dislike fantasy. There are anons who dislike any genre you can imagine. However, when we get fresh shonen OC, for example, the number of shonen haters suddenly becomes much smaller. And the few who do complain get drowned out by enthusiastic anons.

When the suggestions for any particular genre stink, you get more complaints and no enthusiasm. Anons are't sitting around being negative just to make you mad. Everyone is just bored and tired of trying to force bad ideas.
>>
>>97505940
The problem seems to lie in what anons consider stale or bad or low quality then. People need to unclench a little bit if anything is to get off the ground rather than digging their heels in until the mythical 10/10 golden opportunity comes.
>>
>>97505940
In any case, I said my piece and did what was asked of me. R8, H8, Obliter8.

I'll likely join in on any of the ones I listed if others want to go for it. If not, oh well.
>>
>>97505940
bro needs to climb down off that ivory tower and make his own goddamn oc then lmao quit fucking talking about bad ideas captain sits on his ass
>>
>>97505969
We do get builds for bad ideas, but the MPs die immediately because no one is actually inspired to do anything. The issue is that, especially for anons who have been around for a while, a lot of cyoas have just been overdone. They aren't waiting for the mythical 10/10, they have already done the 9, 8, 7, and 6 out of 10 runs. There is a reason a lot of the recent suggestions weren't done before. I know I'm not offering any solutions, but blaming low activity on everyone being a hater or unreasonably picky isn't helpful either.
>>
>>97505940
>The suggestions have been low quality lately
I aggree with the other anons, there is a very entitled attitude lately, anons are being too picky and waiting for the perfect MP.
>>
I tried.
>>
>>97506026
I dunno man. All I can say is that I've seen a *lot* of hostility in here for the past couple months, even by our standards, and it's taking on a life of its own over time. The anti-adventure i guess.
>>
>>97505781
>>97505878
Out of these I would be willing to try at least a couple. Stardust if we use apocalypse could be fun, PMD in both normal and gjinka flavour if people bring that up again. Scrapper had a bit of discussion lately of trying a vaguely RimWorld like run, surviving/colonizing a planet. I can't really think of a dragon cyoa that is varied enough to let us do it, other than dragonfall but nobody really wants to use that one.
I got the idea for a monster evolution MP a couple of times, but somhow all the cyoas for that are NSFW. I almost want to make one myself, but then I remember that it would suck.
>>
>>97506026
It's a lot worse lately and trying to downplay it doesn't help.
>>
>>97506077
Dragonfall, that was the one I was thinking of. The guy who wrote it is a complete bag of shit, but I didn't hate his cyoa just because of the author.
>>
>>97506077
the stardust adventure is clunky to make builds for especially if you want to make a fleet. was there ever a functional interactive made for it
>>
>>97505500
I looked at it and it's meh. It could work but it really is like facility. The powers are not bad but less varied than facility. Cascade, Dreaming and Thinning seem like the more interesting settings, First Contact rejected and Bloodlines feel like not!Worm and Zero Point reminds me of Arknights a bit but it's different enough.
>>
>>97506077
PMD never really seems to get going. Though I do miss being big Reggie. And i think gijinka is always going to be bogged down with people losing their shit over females having breasts.
>>
>>97506026
>They aren't waiting for the mythical 10/10
Wrong. This is exactly what I'm doing. 1010 meaning: doesn't die immediately so my build concept isn't wasted.
>>

>so my build concept isn't wasted.
Just post it again with an MP that works. Anons need to stop thinking porting a build is bad.
>>
>>97506238
If you make a great build for an adventure that dies, just reuse it. There's an incredible difference between reusing someone who got dozens of writings woven through a storyline with other authors, and someone who was just a build and nothing more.

No one, at least no one with an ounce of sense, is going to bitch about digging up a build that's still fresh for all practical purposes. I know I'm not.
>>
>>97506238

whats next youre afraid a YouTube is gonna steal your build for their dungeons and dragons livestream or some shit

>>
>>97506114
I think the main problem with that one was that the setting is boring. I remember complaints about that more than any problem in the cyoa itself. And people saying that it would get boring fast if everyone is a dragon. I would be willing to try it, but I have a feeling it would be similar to kaiju.
>>97506127
I don't think there are any interactives for it, and interactives in general don't really work here. Also Apocalypse is different.
>>97506220
>Though I do miss being big Reggie.
I would really like to see that come back. I wasn't here for that run but I liked reading it anyway. PMD is kinda cursed, but I really wanna see it work at least once.
> And i think gijinka is always going to be bogged down with people losing their shit over females having breasts.
What? I don't get this one. As opposed to all other MPs with female characters? Horny posting and fetish posting happens for all MPs so what makes gjinkas different?
>>
>>97506312
Just stop caring.
>>
>>97506279
>No one, at least no one with an ounce of sense, is going to bitch about digging up a build that's still fresh for all practical purposes. I know I'm not.
You can also just soft reset it. Ignore any mention of the past an treat it as a new build as if nothing happened. Honestly I don't think we have any build that has that much baggage apart from maybe MHA or some of the really old worm ones.
>>
>>97506312
You get shit on for everything around here, if that was a reason for not doing something the whole site would be dead.

Could it be your expectations? Like you were not expecting any of that because it's not something you associate with pokemon so even the normal amount seemed more than it actually was?
>dragonfall with the same points and options but with a different setting could be a much stronger platform to build off of.
What would we use then? We either need to find one or make one and the latter requires a lot of effort invetsed into making it work.

>>
>>97505595
I personally like to think that they have teleporters but only within their own HQ and it probably requires so much energy that they have to teleport in batches to make it cost effective so you can't freely use the teleporters despite it existing and there's still a reason to use regular transportation.
>>
>>97506509
That's possible. I want to stick my dick into a gardevoir as much as the next guy, but somehow the half and half nature of gijinkas doesn't sit right with me.
>>
>>97506509
I think I get what PMD anons are thinking about when it comes to gijinkas despite being one of the people who want it. People who want to use PMD want PMD while people who want Gijinkas only want the mystery dungeon part and could probably use another cyoa for dungeon crawling. It removes what makes it unique from every other setting which is that you're playing as pokemon or at the very least nonhumanoids, but I still want to see a gijinka run anyway.
>>
>>97506547
Maybe it's like teleporter rooms, stationary in strategic outposts for quick deployement in case of emergency. Not sure what would be more interesting, a waypoint system like fast travel points in a game, or a teleporter that can send you anywhere but is a one way trip so you can get somewhere quick but to come back you need to find the closest office.

That's the cover story. The majority of her was created by an old doctor in an underground laboratory in the woods: personality, core components, and weaponry, to about 90% completion. BENKEICO raided the lab, killed the doctor, and stole the kicking and screaming robot girl after a thourough thrashing. "Rebranding" her as the latest of their experimental Afterburner series of androids, they tried to wipe her hard-drive and turn her into a loyal weapon. They only partially succeeded; Afty had too many strange quirks related to her programming that would cause the entire system to crash if her personality was significantly altered. Getting her to act as their loyal soldier was easy enough, as long as they presented it as heroism. She had a "natural" heroic instinct programmed by the old doctor. But for anything unsavory, she'd do whatever she could to rebel. They settled for Control Mode (her Awake); a way for them to block her mind and remotely take control of her body. That way, she could be used to kill anyone they want and would never even know about it. Of course, due to the clever programming designed to help restrict anything like this from ever happening, her system will reboot or crash if Control Mode is active for too long.

Every day, BENKEICO is closer to cracking the quirks of her programming and making unlimited Control Mode feasible, but until then, she's deployed as a mercenary-hero for their public interests, and a ruthless killing machine for their less savory interests.

What her system registers as core memories could only be cleverly blocked and confused, not deleted, and her memories may be revealed depending on circumstances she finds herself in.

Vivian Irving is only technically under the hero title because of the bureaucracy behind her job requirements. She works for the Hero Association directly as an operations manager, an examiner, and a trainer.

Her creation, V (originally just marking that it was the 5th of its making, but she enjoyed the name enough to keep it throughout further iterations), is her means of performing the latter two duties. Although it requires her direct control to operate, V is designed to be as diverse in its fighting capabilities as possible, both to test new aspiring hero candidates and to help point out and shore up weaknesses of any hero that requests her training.

Vivian's role as operations manager is to... basically babysit heroes in her area. This means it's her job to keep in contact with heroes, monitor their performances, and resolve their problems on behalf of the Hero Association. This leads to her phone almost constantly ringing with requests, questions, complaints, and concerns (mostly about collateral damage). While she does attempt to maintain a friendly demeanor at first, her patience over the years has become as thin as one-ply toilet paper. Some (most) heroes require a firm hand to get them to STOP USING STREET LAMPS AS A WEAPON.

At least the job pays well.

I said that it would require a lot of effort because anons tend to prefer original settings made for the thread instead of franchise stuff. Or at least they complain a lot more against franchise stuff even if it generally works out better than OC. Worldbuilding is very much not my strong suit, so making a setting is out of the question by myself, but if the thread is fine with a preexisting one I can start searching for one.

overall writefag sounds cool, maybe she's doing security detail and the thing she's guarding gets burgled, she runs after a villain and then gets confused as the thief? idk
>And who's her favorite hero out of the bunch? I could probably guess her least favorite.
she's like Stain from MHA (I think) and idolizes true heroes, so it depends on how much each one comes to that
maybe Hold's the favorite? he's a defense attorney and not a prosecutor after all
she definitely thinks Smoke and Comet are cool but would probably think lesser of Comet if she's really just in it for money, and it depends on how widely Belfry's mob connections are known, because if it is known that he's just a face he's the least favorite
she also probably is a fan of V too

An unusual mix for a hero of taciturn and idealistic. From a young age, displayed an enthusiasm for swords and, more interestingly, some mild esper potential revolving around small elemental “tricks”; lighting candles, filling a glass with water, and things of similar scale. Lost his family in a villainess attack a few years ago; she was the bombastic sort who’d never actually killed anyone, and even she was shocked the moment it happened. Shortly after, the Hero Association, whose radar he was already on, gave him the sword as a means to channel his power upon inducting him; he’s been trying to cleave wickedness from the world with it ever since. A wisecrack from him is hardly unheard of, but anything other than his usual deadpan is another story. While not prone to overt moping, he’s still inclined to seek solitude, or stare off into space. He’s never forgotten either the sight of his parents and sister being crushed by flying debris, or the look of horror from the woman who launched it. As a result, he holds onto a core hope of redemption for evil doers (though still willing to behead or bisect them if they seem sufficiently unrepentant), and has proven impressively careful and precise with his blade, even as it fires crescents of light honed to an impossible edge.

How he engages with others depends strongly on their role, though he’s never particularly chatty - arguably, as judicious and precise with his words as with his blade. With fellow heroes, he’ll attempt politeness, and seems to genuinely struggle to open up with those he might like to; vigilantes and insurgents, concise (but usually tactful) admonishments to seek better ways; villains, little beyond commands to cease and desist in combat, and pointed questions outside of it; and monsters are offered one chance to turn back before facing termination.

Figured I was missing something. It's certainly tempting to say S, and I think it could even make sense, considering that blade of his could help against even a kaiju. He's probably a different "flavor" than I imagine the typical, flashy S class would be - a bit too curt and results-focused. But maybe that's the kind of flavor the Association could use a bit of, and maybe he has a decent fan base for it too.

...Yeah, S it is.

An Idealistic Core

In a world as strange as this, Kaya isn't one who wants to stand out. Like many heroes before her, Kaya had developed special powers early on in her life, specifically geokinesis. While she was treated as special due to her potential, she never really felt special for something that was always out of her control. Fast forward to today, where she's a middle-of-the-pack B-class hero. She aced her exams and could basically go wherever she wanted, yet she decided to become a hero and stay in a rank much lower than her strength suggested?

Kaya is what her peers would describe as carefree. Never caring about rank or fame and always boosting up-and-coming stars or helping out a struggling rookie here or there. When danger strikes, she's seemingly as laid-back as ever, loose on the rules and rarely ever going all out, but even behind those closed eyes, she's always keeping track of those who are rarely heard. If some heroes focus on spectacle, she focuses more on helping out the citizen stuck in the rubble or making temporary bunkers to shield passersby from an ongoing brawl. Just because she specializes in rescue work, doesn't mean she's useless in a fight.

Kaya likes to keep it simple. Battles aren't all about landing the most punches but about landing the right one, and she takes this idea to the extreme. While not formally trained in any martial arts, street brawling is probably the closest style she has, she tends to complement each blow with gauntlets and pillars, provided that everyone else has been safely evacuated or secured.

"Nice job, kid. Flattery isn't my style, but I'll let this one slide if it'll stop them from nagging me for a while."

The new rules say that the Bound Perished One followers can trade general drawbacks for divine tokens, but it doesn't say how many. Is it 1 to 1? Is it supposed to be based on the drawback? Does it just work like the old rules and it's just one perk/blessing per drawback?

Senanon here. The WiP for Nardo is complete at the second stage, I did some pretty significant reworks after the last round of criticism to do things like reduce taxes and the like which is why it took so long. I mostly tuned out the thread to not get into feature creep as I wanted to integrate the last round of changes before doing another.

I recognize now that I should've at least explained this plan but had originally expected it to take about a week instead of two. There's more work that you won't see in here but it's a significantly more complete version than the first rentry. Feel free to ignore the fluff section.

I don't want to snipe the new games that have just started so ideally we can go through a few more rounds in the meantime.

The Machinist's is an aspiring warrior-inventor from the city of Amegakure. Their family possesses a strange set of organs that allow them to naturally sense, produce and resist electricity - until recently, this has allowed them to excel at the arts of Lightning Techniques, but the invention of electrical technology has brought them to the forefront of research and development in this area.

More militarily minded than their kin, they seek revenge against the Great Nations for destroying great swathes of the Land of Rain. They use a combination of their inborn talents, skills in Lightning Style and a customized suit of resistors, conductors and other prototype electrical devices to overwhelm opponents with rains of charged senbon and webs of electrified steel wire produced from a pair of bulky gauntlets.

>>97510980
You need to be insane to be a drawbackfag with these drawbacks.
>>
>>97511216
>>97511238
They are meant to be unappealing and mostly exist for specialist builds who can take a nasty hit somewhere for somewhere else, I don't think they're too crippling but they're certainly meant to be a devil's bargain rather than the standard. If they're widely considered too harsh I can reduce them slightly but I want them to actually be bad for you at least.
>>
>>97510839
You could easily split incompetent into two drawbacks and they'd still be some of the worst ones here
>>
>>97510839
Can I still do the thing where I buy Bloodline and the technique at the same time? like bloodline (Poison Projection) and then buying Posion Projection normally anyway

Also minor nitpick, you sometimes use "persons" instead of "people" in this
>>
>>97511267
It's a controversial drawback that needs to be here but people can't agree on whether it's essentially free or extremely crippling due to how subjective it is. We can take a look at it during this round of testing but I want it to be significantly worse than just 'can't take this Technique tree,' because that is quite literally just 3 free points from a game design perspective.

>>97511290
>Can I still do the thing where I buy Bloodline and the technique at the same time?
Yes, I'll make that more clear. Technically speaking Bloodline doesn't even give you Techniques, it just uses Techniques as a basis and they're supposed to synergize.

>Also minor nitpick, you sometimes use "persons" instead of "people" in this
There's going to be a lot of grammatical and general writing mistakes, I didn't completely rush it but I focused more on getting my thoughts on the page over structure. Once we're locked in on abilities I'll do another sweep on improving the writing itself. You'll notice a lot of my writing tics in particular.
>>
>>97511249
>I don't think they're too crippling
You're wrong then, they are all too shit to even look at.
>>
>>97511318
Possibly, I'll look for a consensus first because these things are subjective. If people make builds with Drawbacks freely then we've hit a good medium.
>>
>>97511249
There is a difference between unappealing and meaningless. They don't have a reason to be there, 3 points are not worth being made of paper or having 50 IQ. Not even specialists will want to take that.
>>97511312
>a game design perspective.
That's another mistake you are making. Not ecerything has to be a zero sum game, you are killing the fun of it. And it's not even zero sum right now, it's minus sum because you always lose more than you gain.

>They don't have a reason to be there, 3 points are not worth being made of paper or having 50 IQ.
Funnily enough this was a relatively common pick and was even worse in the original. I get your perspective though.

>Not everything has to be a zero sum game
Agreed but I believe that Drawbacks should be just as bad as good.

>And it's not even zero sum right now, it's minus sum because you always lose more than you gain.
Not the intent but these kind of things are hard to gauge, so I can agree that can be pinned as a conversation point as builds go forward but can't say whether or not it'll budge right now.

Bloodline is something inherent to your nature, so putting an Artefact in there is probably having it implanted in you or something. It is technically possible.

As for silly, Bloodline is a very vague, very broad ability that's designed for maximum MakeItUpposting, so I want there to be as much freedom as possible with the trust that anons try not to abuse it. If you feel like you want to do something cool with Artefact Bloodline, go ahead - just remember that it's not intended to replicate Techniques, but to use them as a baseline to balance whatever you make.

See Machinist's Lightning + Electric Sense + Electric Organs to make them some kind of fucked up electric eelmaxxer for example rather than gaining the techniques literally.

Nta but I would need a better list of examples because right now I don't even know how to make the base cyoa ones, or how much stronger an evolved bloodline limit is supposed to be. How do you make crystal Release? Is it to powerful? How about Adamantine Chains? It's way too vague.
>>
>>97511249
This is correct. Players will always bitch and moan about drawbacks being too harsh, but that is how you as a CYOA author know you're on the right path.

A drawback that does not meaningfully remove control and agency from the player is not a drawback at all, and is unworthy of giving points.

If it doesn't hurt, it doesn't count. Hold your ground. Let them squeal.
>>
>>97511416
If it's just a case of not taking the Techniques then every single build except Maximum Mundane Man will objectively just get 3 free points. Making that Art your weakness in any capacity heightens the stakes, the question is how bad the weakness is that's causing the differences in opinion, imo.

It seems like a very bad idea to take the drawback that gives you false information about something with the techniques that literally kill you if used wrong. It's the most crippling thing you can do, immediately turn to stone or explode all your meridians at the first chance.

stacking "you will job against this technique every time" with "you are exceptionally incompetent at everything related to this technique"
Consider what it means to be that incompetent at just an arts mundane technique.

>>
>>97511426
That is fair. I can expand on ideas and replicate more from the base CYOA but for the most part it's going to require some creativity/intuition on the part of people making it. I'll be here to help as much as I can but generally as the most MakeItUpslop option next to Artefact and Hidden Techniques it needs space.

Adamantine Chains could be something like Chakra Construct, Sealing and Nullification, as an example.

>>97511432
I don't have any enmity for players regardless of their intentions, but I do have a soft code of how these things are to be designed and have strong opinions on Drawbacks taking as much as they're giving, yes. Drawbacks were also considered optional in my playtests and PCs were designed to be perfectly serviceable without them so that may help with people who don't want glaring weaknesses on their characters.

There is the matter of getting the balance right but it's best achieved through consensus rather than one or two people's perspective.
>>
>>97511458
I neither know nor care who that is, i dont follow thread schitzos/celebrities
>>
>>97511463
>consensus
Good luck with that here. Both sides have shitposters ready to make the discussion last forever. Many are going to play both sides too.
>>
>>97511463
Nah, that's all fine. I'm not arguing for maliciousness in drawbacks either. They should be a steep cost for real, solid power returns. Impactful positive, impactful negative.

The powerfags just act like even a trivial hindrance to their lust for stacking points is somehow cruel and unusual punishment, and I cannot respect them for it.
>>
>>97511459
>stacking "you will job against this technique every time" with "you are exceptionally incompetent at everything related to this technique"
These are intended to be one and the same, although if it helps at all my reading as author is not that you job to the Art, just that the Art is more effective against you. If people keep reading it otherwise I can clarify in the doc itself as I don't want to give the wrong impression.
>>
>>97511406
The artefact was supposed to be a physical halo that appeared when the baby was baptized in a temple, to fit with the Enhaced theme, so yeah, that tracks
>>
>>97511479
I'm not sure how else you're supposed to read
>You will fail to recognise this Art
>You will fail to defend yourself against this Art

>>
>>97511461
Leo anon. Probably yes. I'm not even done with my build, with all the shit happening in the thread I don't even know what's real or not anymore. Good luck having a discussion about anything, and I genuinely mean that. I still need to decide what fits my idea better since I have no idea what the technical terms for fighting games mean.
>>
>>97511480
>The artefact was supposed to be a physical halo
Nta but that's cool, I half want to do something similar.
>>
>>97511472
Then it's my job as author to find a state where either the least number of people are angry or there's enough discussion on both sides to lead to a central point. I could remove the option entirely but I think it's a necessary option.

>>97511477
Fair. I don't want to entirely dissuade powerfags either, I just want the framework to be tight enough that there's no obvious loopholes, the easiest way to do that is to give some checks and balances to basically every option without being overly stifling, as the specificity of the options aren't quite Spirit Conscript grade but aren't entirely soft either.

>>97511480
Makes sense, if you felt the need to self-balance it you could even argue that the Artefact isn't constantly present to mimic Artefact's weakness of losing your object, but up to you.

It's also not very clear but Bloodlines also allow for Technique 2 and Technique 3 if you really want to focus.

>>97511488
I see, entirely fair reading then. Consider the RAI as 'you are notably at recognizing/planning/dealing with the Art,' which is intended to only be one component of the battle.

Sorcerer Jim with his focus on non-combat Techniques can still have his head kicked off by Taijutsu John despite his Curse Incompetence, there's many components at play. But Taijutsu John is narratively flagged to get Giga Cursed at somepoint as storyfodder, I suppose.
>>
>>97511507
Uh, notably *worse that is

As the one guy who is building all this shit around fighting games, they mean jack shit, anon. Confirm Chase has nothing to do with the fighting game concept of hit confirms. They're just names, they weren't implemented very meticulously even if I appreciate the effort from the CYOA author.

I dunno man, I feel kinda demotivated about JITE (I'm working on it) and this seems like a fun little detour. I wanted to do Tsukihime, but that seems kinda dead, I want to maybe do a Twinkle build update to respect the MHBW update but I don't think anyone's actually gonna play that again, and I just keep seeing people act like Debbie Downers over everything. Okay but thats the opposite of what a drawback should be.

Its better to be mild drawbacks so that they actually get used.

>>97511567
Uuuuh basically I've been trying to make a vehicle combat CYOA with a mix of F-Zero, Kirby Air Ride, cyberpunk, Warhammer, a little bit of Star Wars, that kind of thing, splitting between the pilot and the vehicle for options. The main part is the vehicle construction, with chassis, engine, weapons, etc. Basically, people all across a fragmented universe compete in vehicle arenas and races. It's a very unorthodox idea but I kinda wanna try finishing it to see if it picks up any traction.

Yeah, harsh drawbacks encourage the "take then ignore" thing they said they wanted to avoid, mainly because that's the only kind of person who's going to take them.
>>

>>97511593
>It's just not the same without Marjukka and the others...
You may be able to convince people to accept an updated port of a build with reset narrative, but convincing them to do a full revival will be close to impossible.
>>
>>97511580
I partially disagree, I think major drawbacks if not too crippling are the sweetspot. Where we're running into tension is on the view of what's completely crippling.

There is a balance to be struck between too good and too bad - as most of this is made up in people's heads I can't measure this accurately.

>>97511593
Multiverse Whacky Racers absolutely sounds like a concept people could get behind but you are right in that it's unorthodox and possibly a little niche - I could see myself building for it and giving it a go regardless. The split between pilot and vehicle is a solid starting idea though.

>>97511587
Sohei is just the name we're using for Temple Monks, unassociated with Samurai or Shinobi and typically more interested in enlightenment and scholarship rather than politics or war. >>
>>97511587
>but I was planning on giving it different effects so maybe that doesn't work for you

Buddhist warrior monks but in this cyoa I think they serve as general religious figures to allow for shintoistic shrine keepers who don't really use weapons and such

Oh it's not ACTUALLY multiverse, those were just my influences. You can make a space marine, or a more traditional pilot, or a Kirby-like guy, or an Eldar, and there's a thing that's kinda like the Force that some people can use, but you don't ACTUALLY have those things from those franchises. I'm building some original lore here, don't worry about that. And I know it's niche, I just wanna go ahead and try it out. Hell, I tried kaiju and that lived for like 3 days. That was WAY more than I expected. I have a little more faith in this

I remember liking Guardians of the Republic but it had drawbacks extremely associated with the setting that kind of broke down with non-Force Users, though I suppose in a weird way the non-Force Users' greatest strength was not being fucked by drawbacks as hard as Jedi.

For the most part I can't remember one where they were all ideal. Spirit Conscript had a few all over the place but had some decent picks.

I suppose my biggest guiding principle is Drawbacks are anti-Perks, and as much as Perks are meant to be consistently useful Drawbacks are meant to consistently be a hinderance.

By the way, I'm reading the techniques right now and it says you need at least a rank in a basic technique to take the basic techniques, I assume that means you need to take at least one rank in mundane, you may want to fix that.
>>97511621
>who don't really use weapons and such
As long as they still fight somehow I can work with it. If it can work as the mage class equivalent then it's perfect.
>what effects?
Ascension and Sense energy are fine for me too, and I can work with Omens. Ritual Arts and Sigils however would need to be different. I was thinking about something that is more of a power amplifier or efficiency multiplier, maybe an elemental conduit of sorts, more aggressive. I think it could work if we make it like a mutation or a diffrent specialized unit in the clan.

What I can't decide is if a guy that simply disappears and reappears all over the place counts more for Illusory Intent and Feint Mastery or Rushing Waves and Fast Attack Mastery. I also don't know if I want to get Confirm Chase and Ranged Mastery even if a lot of people have it already, it fits the character but it may be too samey.

I also don't know if gauntlets/claws count for Close Weapon Mastery or not, but that's a question for the author more than indecision.

>>97511744
>Ritual Arts and Sigils however would need to be different. I was thinking about something that is more of a power amplifier or efficiency multiplier, maybe an elemental conduit of sorts, more aggressive
Yeah the intent behind Sigils was to store even more Chakra in the halo alongside the divine energy reserves of Ascension, but if you want efficiency we can swap to Chakra circulation since that's both efficiency and reserves
As for ritual arts, we can leave it as the wild card mutation factor between the two clan members
>>
>>97511808
>What I can't decide is if a guy that simply disappears and reappears all over the place counts more for Illusory Intent and Feint Mastery or Rushing Waves and Fast Attack Mastery.
Ancient Art or Impossible Skill if that's his gimmick, then Illusory if it's more defensive or Rushing if it's more offensive.
>I also don't know if I want to get Confirm Chase and Ranged Mastery even if a lot of people have it already, it fits the character but it may be too samey.

It is a specific mental deficiency, sometimes real life intelligent people or even geniuses gaslight themselves into believing dumb things.

>Also I don't know why you'd pick drawbacks anyway, 3 points is barely anything to make up for most of these.
Noted. Though 3 points can be leveraged for some serious advantages, I don't expect people to be taking it for Conditioning or whatever over Advanced/Hidden if they're chomping at the bit on the budget.

>The setting might do a bit of carrying
Right now, it's a rough concept, but the idea is that humanity is a cyberpunk empire, there's also decadent NOT Eldar, "little guys" AKA Kirby fellas that are more connected with NOT the Force, there's space pirates and weirder guys, and there's also sections of space where humans and aliens more or less coexist, which the human and NOT Eldar coalitions are REEEEing about. That's about as much as I have right now, but I'd love to have a bit of help in fleshing it out, and also the CYOA in general because I'm still learning how to balance things

>>97511800
I think Hold Bailey, Comet, Kasumi, Light and Bellfry are gonna be my favourite builds to write opposite Leo. He doesn't care for being a hero in the books, but he respects strength and justice in a more personal level, so fighting and befriending these fellas is gonna be neat. What about YOUR build?

>>97511808
I think Illusory Intent and Feint Mastery are more specifically tied to what you may want, because Fast Strikes is a bit too general, but you can also choose percentages so you can have all of the above. I'd say gauntlets would probably be close weapons, but they're so similar to fists that you might not need it

>>97511843
This anon is probably correct.

>>97511813
The only reason why that one's called Confirm Chase is because of the idea of hit confirms, at least I think so. But it's not actually related to how hit confirms work, hit confirms aren't specific to projectile moves
>>
>>97511851
>or even geniuses gaslight themselves into believing dumb things.
Mostly it just seems easily correctable and then that brings up the question of why it wouldn't work. You'd have to make a seriously egotistical and retarded character at the same time.
>>
>>97511863
>Confirm Chase is because of the idea of hit confirms, at least I think so
I don't think the author ever actually said this and it'd be strange via the rest of design if it was the inspiration.
>>
>>97511868
Incompetence represents deeply engrained delusions rather than simple mistakes, serious things to be overcome. You can make an egotistical, retarded, deluded character or you can make a deluded genius who's been mentally broken by something. Drawbacks are less quirks of personality and more actual heavy issues, mentally or physically.
>>
>>97511815
>but if you want efficiency we can swap to Chakra circulation since that's both efficiency and reserves
That sounds good, it seems to make sense. Maybe you can specialize it? I don't know if it's intended that you can specialize the components of bloodline limits, if we can then it's perfect for me.
>As for ritual arts, we can leave it as the wild card mutation factor between the two clan members
Makes sense, I will need to think about what the most appropiate point would be for that.
I'm starting to get invested into this for once, I wasn't planning on putting in too much effort but this is starting to get kinda fun.
>>
>>97511883
I'm saying that it's a drawback that is hard to make a character around. It's one that has to directly impact the personality to make any sense. You can make many types of characters who are clumsy, frail, or dull personality wise. Incompetent requires a special degree of tism.
>deluded genius who's been mentally broken by something
How does this even work? This is really pushing it beyond the egotistical retard angle.
>>
>>97511897
>I don't know if it's intended that you can specialize the components of bloodline limits, if we can then it's perfect for me.

Kind of? The answer is more that since Bloodline Limits don't emulate Techniques, but are rather inspired by them, you have room to make their components strong and specific. They're generally supposed to be worth 3 Technique Points, but there's tons of factors on how to balance that including Chakra burn, ease of access and potentially a lack of synergy with Icons, Spells and the like depending.

It's better to leave questions like that in the hands of players rather than mine with the GENERAL idea that Perks are meant to be worth roughly 3 Technique Points.
>>
>>97511907
>How does this even work?
Depends on the concept. Maybe a Cursechud is so completely corrupted by their power that they can't even comprehend the principles of Divine Arts anymore. Maybe someone hates Illusion Arts so much that their hatred has led them to self-aggrandizing delusion over it ala 'Illusion Arts would never effect me because I'm mad enough, observe.' Maybe they're legitimately autistic or have brain damage and a part of their brain necessary for understanding the principles just doesn't work. Maybe they are an egotistical retard in that area or in general, depending on other Drawbacks taken.
>>
>>97511843
>Ancient Art or Impossible Skill if that's his gimmick, then Illusory if it's more defensive or Rushing if it's more offensive.
I guess it would be Rushing then. His gimmick is being a ghost/wraith so Ancient Secret was already in the cards. I may need to double up on Tricks to make it work but I don't know if the other Tricks are necessary/fit the theme.
>You should take it if it fits the character. They may as well not exist, take what you think would be fun.
Thanks for the advice, I will probably take it then.
>Yeah they do.
Makes sense I guess. I had to take it anyway but it's good to know.
>>97511856
I have something else for that.
>>97511863
>I think Illusory Intent and Feint Mastery are more specifically tied to what you may want, because Fast Strikes is a bit too general, but you can also choose percentages so you can have all of the above.
I wanted to be a bit more specialized but I guess I will take a mix of them. Rush and Feints is probably better for my concept.
For the gauntlets, the confusion comes from the fact that the distinction is "you don't get hurt if they hit it" so I think I have to take it regardless on a technicality.
>>
>>97511863
>What about YOUR build?
For MY build? It's V. I'm thinking Hold Bailey, Comet, Afty, and Feldspar.
Hold, Feldspar, and Vivian feel like they could be out of work friends, with Hold and Vivian both airing grievances and complaints about work while Feldspar is a patient ear. Hold being a lawyer probably means Vivian has gotten into contact with him a lot about work related legal consultation. I want after work stress relief karaoke with them.

Comet would be the most fun writing about a phone call with and the ensuing aftermath of it. With her being so bitchy and cocky, probably expecting Vivian to just clean up after her. And Vivian pretty much has to appeal to her since Comet is really strong and popular, so she brings a lot of money and positive media to the Hero Association.

Afty is mostly because of the robot connection, with the initial thoughts of "BENKEIKO definitely didn't make this thing. It's too good for their work." going to "Oh my god, this AI is so fucking stupid. Maybe they did make it after all..." Since Afty is stolen tech, she might be hard to repair for them, so it opens a possible avenue of interaction since Vivian is specialized in that field.
>>
>>97510675
I thought she'd be one of the most aggravating for Vivian to deal with *because* of her easy going attitude. As for how how loose with the rules, she only really follows enough to not get into trouble. She understands that rules are there for a reason and follows the ones that makes sense, but if there are any rules that would prevent her from saving others then it'd be easier to ask for forgiveness than permission at that moment. She could definitely take the blame for someone else's mistake but there is a limit. She still has be in good enough standing to not be kicked out because she definitely doesn't want to use her powers as a vigilante.
>I'm the nagger!
Yeah, I imagined there be a lot of back and forth with Kaya and the management team, so it's nice to have a build basically act as its face to interact with.

Just to clarify something about Vivian, she doesn't really use V for any actual hero work, right? V is more like an observation tool or mouth piece for her while it's on the field and her focus more lies organizing all the hero work. Is she more loose with the rules as well? What does she think of Kaya helping out the B and C class heroes?
>>
Impossible Skill without technological advancement is basically redundant because it's a "minor" superpower in a setting where everyone's already probably doing Garou and minor Saitama bullshit off of strength alone lol.
>>
>>97511962
>the confusion comes from the fact that the distinction is "you don't get hurt if they hit it" so I think I have to take it regardless on a technicality.
I think it depends on how much it defends you. If you were to say he wasn't defended much at all by his gauntlets being hit instead of his arm you could consider it not needed to be taken.
>>
>>97512012
it was the shittiest option in the first one too
>>
>>97511985
>I thought she'd be one of the most aggravating for Vivian to deal with *because* of her easy going attitude.
Nah, I can definitely see her being aggravating if Vivian is already having a bad day, but compared to some of the more eccentric heroes like Comet? She's at least not yelling in Vivian's ear and expecting her to make miracles happen.

>Just to clarify something about Vivian, she doesn't really use V for any actual hero work, right?
Probably not, but depending on how much we take from the OPM setting, she might be required to do at least a minimum amount of work to maintain her "hero rank" that she's required to have. She could possibly also be told to use it in the case of emergency monster attacks or whatever while the area is on skeleton crew.

In the fighting game analogy, V is the training mode dummy. Typically, if you see V on the field, you might be under performance review yeah.

Vivian's job as operations manager does mean she's responsible for hero work, but she is also expected to be a fixer of sorts for problems that aren't worth upper management's attention.

>Is she more loose with the rules as well? What does she think of Kaya helping out the B and C class heroes?
It'd be more fitting to say she doesn't have the time or energy to make sure every rule is followed to a T. If nobody is complaining by the end, we can sweep some things under the rug and call it a day. And Kaya helping lower rank heroes would definitely give her some good rapport in Vivian's books.

Both intentionally have absurdly broken powers in theory but exist to be defeated by the Wooden Gun. Which would be more fun to write for others?
>>
>>97512179
I mean, they're not her jurisdiction in more than one way, but vigilantes are also criminals at the end of the day, so it's to the clink with them.

It's a little tough to imagine how that kind of situation would happen since during work hours she's inside the office. And it's not like she's well known at all outside of the hero circle, so no vigilante would recognize her under normal circumstances. So the two situations I see are either while she has V out for something, or when she's off duty and happens to recognize a vigilante.

The latter is the more interesting idea. Vivian isn't a complete weakling without V, but she definitely can't stand up to someone like Leo, so she's not going to attempt an arrest by herself. She'd probably just try to act natural as possible until she can get an excuse to leave and call it in.

But you never know. Maybe they do something heroic in front of her or spout out their sad backstory to tug at her heart strings. I could see her letting the whole situation be another thing she sweeps under the rug and doesn't report.
>>
>>97512360

>>97506419

>>
>>97512388
Leo also won't care much about her as long as she's not trying to arrest him. By all means, Leo *is* pretty much a hero, but he's so averse to bureaucracy, rules and structure as a complete rebel that he just can't bother with the Hero Association even if he'd probably perform fairly well if he joined up. Leo's a lot more free-spirited than that, so he'll happily work together with the heroes when necessary, but he just wants to be left to his own devices otherwise. Hell, if V isn't around, Leo would take it upon himself to protect Vivian if a monster attacked right then and there, he just wants to keep thrill-seeking away from the Hero Association's bullshit. Of course, that's not gonna work for them, so I think that's already a cool dynamic.

Kind of a fun parallel between them since that's the part that Vivian is so deeply entrenched in. She's also pretty tired of it, but that's from overexposure and a need for a vacation. What would Leo think of her if he knew she was the one in charge of maintaining that set of rules, structure, and beuraceacy that he detests so much?

>>

I think the wasted potential thing is still possible even with a stronger power, it just depends on how he uses them. Like if he was a petty villain and the only way he could think of using his powers was to pickpocket someone and do it in the most direct and least clever way possible. The wasted potential is more felt in this scenario since we can see how it's wasted through his actions.

Yeah. Maybe even make him hyper defensive so he's basically impossible to hurt but it's less the stoic mountain type of defence and more he really just doesn't want to get hurt and continually, awkwardly avoids pretty much anything anyone throws at him, can be used for a bit of comedic relief in that way too without being too silly. I can work with this. It fits in a way that covers the vibe/meme but actually has a purpose in the story which is always a plus over a pure shitpost.

I think he'd find it funny in a way, but on the other hand, Leo thinks the whole Hero Association organism is flawed. Protocol is pointless when the bad guys are at your door, and he comes from a street fight mentality where acting fast is what saves the day. But he won't act too far within his criticisms of the Hero Association because he thinks they're still good at heart, and Leo values strong fighters that look out for the little guy. Of course, he's not exactly the most responsible person in the first place -- Leo's main motivation for adventuring is thrill-seeking and his enjoyment of fights. So it'd be kinda like, "you wanna arrest me for doing what's right and punching the monster in the face? Who cares if I'm not in your little social security handbook?! I'll do it again!"

Henry Powers is a very unmotivated man. Intelligent enough to cruise through school without really trying, athletic, handsome and healthy enough to never have to take training seriously and rich enough from his middle-class parents to never need to work, he spent his youthful years without a care in the world and subsequently finds it extremely difficult to be concerned about anything beyond his own comfort, even in his thirties.

It was perhaps some grand cosmic joke when he inherited a strange set of superpowers from the stars themselves. Capable of projecting his senses virtually anywhere he cared to and creating portals through which matter and energy can cross, one would think such incredible power would force him to rise to the occasion or fall to the depraved whims of villainy. For better or worse, his self-doubts, apathy, and undisciplined sense of meek decency have prevented him from taking on the villainous mantle, but equally leave him incapable of summoning the will or care to be a hero.

Instead, he is content with taking on jobs from just about whoever, using his powers to scout out locations, smuggle items or transport people - all with very little effort. Recently, more malicious, cunning individuals have begun to resort to blackmail and other methods to rope him into dastardly schemes - surely they'll let him go once they have what they want and whatever they're planning can't be that bad, right?

... Right?

I'll find a better faceclaim than John Constantine, he fits perfectly but I imagine he's way too well-known to use.

>Bio:
Meg was another test subject of the Neptune Project, experimented upon to push the limits of what science and possibly some mysticism could accomplish. The results were not documented before the project was shut down, and Meg found herself dumped out on the ground to die. It was here that the full effect of their experiments manifested. Not only could Meg survive outside of the water, but she was able to "swim" through the air, and even dive through the floor and walls, until her instincts guided her back to the sea.

Even with her enhanced intelligence and power, the ocean is a big, dangerous place. A pod of Orcas tried to attack her, when a camera crew happened to come by. They were planning to simply film nature in action, and got quite a shock when she leapt onto their boat and refused to leave.

The star of the show, a man Meg simply remembers as the Khakiman, was fascinated by her. He took her in, showed her to his audience (while calling her beautiful and incredible in his Aussie accent), and imparted his love of nature and wildlife to her. She hasn't seen him in years, but hopes he's doing well.

As a hero, Meg of course prefers ocean work, but there's far more cases inland. A lot of villains surrender at the mere sight of a flying shark, but she tries to avoid the stereotypes. She wants to improve the image of sharks in peoples minds, not terrify them. Her mindset is a lot like a child's, but then, she is only 7. Her voice sounds like a kid to boot.

Thanks, and yeah he's meant to be more of a nonserious villain that can be used for comedy or actual scenes but isn't serious enough about fighting heroes to do anything but fumble the bag and leave through a portal when things get rough. Also most voted in the evil office to get uneasy and quit when the bad guys start doing something really bad.

Build ready, just needs the fluff written down. I hope the rentry thing works well, I may need to tweak it later.
I also finally got done catching up with the builds and I'm very surprised by the amount of Monster's Aura builds, but even more by the amount of builds that have both that and Mentor's Air. We have a whole bunch of scary teachers.

Nta but doesn't her description say both what her crime was and what the sentence listed? She splattered someone's head and was charged with manslaughter and vigilantism. That seems plenty descriptive to me.

I'm curious about the circumstances of her aggrevation and if it was involuntary or voluntary, as well as what her intended sentencing before strings were pulled was.

'The Family' are a mafia syndicate of whom have their agenda in trying to rule the criminal underground. One of their patron sons, Ezekial Danger kinda randomly went crazy and left the family to peruse Heroism. But as Heroism took off they decided they needed a cut of the action and sent Timmothy (Belfry) into the organization to start getting eyes on the inside so they can try to capitalize on Heroics too.

They ultimately want to have just simple control. More territory, more things 'their way'. They see Heroism as an official way to 'protect' the city for a paycheck and spread their influence over other syndicates or gangs. Crime doesn't pay, but, Heroism sure seems to.

(Though, they have operations kind of everywhere like you'd expect a Mob to do so. Belfry is just one enterprise.)

>The actual Question™
I don't imagine anybody knows that he's a mobster, but an eccentric inventor with popular family with grants in construction, and even a restaurant!
>>
>>97513320
I honestly was thinking about it and was feeling a bit conflicted about it myself
so my intent was for it to be a former bully of her's that she killed while he was doing something petty like shoplifting or pursesnatching, accidentally punching him too hard after he insulted her for still being a friendless loser in an attempt to knock him out, so maybe voluntary manslaughter since it's hard to point a gun at someone and then say you didn't mean to shoot them that hard?
then she got bailed out by her embarassed mentor, but honestly that's the part I'm iffy about... feels like she's cheating consequences and is a bit asspully, so maybe I'll change her backstory to serving a 1 year involuntary charge and being let out on good behavior?
thoughts?
>>
>>97513414
>I don't imagine anybody knows that he's a mobster, but an eccentric inventor with popular family with grants in construction, and even a restaurant!
I see, good to know. He's probably more well liked then by my build. Could be fun for his connections to be exposed down the line and seeing how others react.
>>97513416
I feel like either way works. Could have a bit of personal bitterness for her over it; happy that she was let off initially but later she feels guilty about it. I think the strings being pulled is a little wacky but it has more story potential, as opposed to just serving her debt to society. Though it also leads to a bit of dead end considering double jeapordy is a thing and I'm not sure where she goes from there.
>>
>>97513416
Pretty sure that'd always be a voluntary manslaughter charge, as no intent to kill but with disregard of life. Since the idea is that her records weren't sealed you should go with the strings being pulled to let her out or even just something going wrong in the processing, like it was messy and she didn't have her rights read in the proceedings because of how confusing it was for everyone involved so she was let out that way, or the mishandling of evidence was possibly accidental and only maybe strings pulled. Or just say she had a 1 year/community service voluntary manslaughter + vigilantism charge.
>>
>>97513453
>I think the strings being pulled is a little wacky
this is my main issue, I just feel awkward about it
>but it has more story potential
I guess that this is true so I'll just leave it... but
>>97513465
I like this idea of the strings being pulled actually being dubious if it happened or not a lot more honestly, I think I'll do this
I feel much less awkward about it this way, and it also leaves room to ask "WHO pulled the strings if it did happen?" since she was approached by shady merc employers just a bit after, thanks anons
I don't think Ill repost her since it's a small change but I'll make it clear in her rc that's what I'm going with forward

Mysterious vigilante that appears and disappears leaving no traces. Only known from the ramblings of survivors and distorted recordings until now. Targets mostly criminals but sometimes the odd apparently innocent victim appears.
Real identity is a young man risen from the grave. Killed once as a sacrifice in some failed ritual, nobody even noticed he was gone. Now back he uses his powers for "good" in secret. Not opposed to heroes, just think it's more efficient to act by himself and considers authority a bother.
He is surprised nobody caught him yet, being a ghost makes secrecy easier than he expected.

Consider this a test version. There may be some remnants form my different idea in there, I may need to clean it up later. Now I'm tired but I will post it so I don't forget. This is way more effort than I was intending to put into this, I just wanted to test a cool renty option, but I don't want to make a complete dump.

>Edgy indeed.
I tried holding back on the edge too.
> Do you think he shows up on film?
I forgot to put it in the rentry, it's a bit implied in the post, but he shows up as an unfocused blur on most devices, as if the camera was struggling to catch up with something. I'm going to assume that technology to capture his image properly exists somewhere and just isn't widespread, or if it doesn't someone can make it since we have super tech.
Really old cameras like polaroids or those that print on actual film have better results, after all it's said that cameras steal your soul.
By the way, what is the general tech level available to the masses, apart from heroes and villains? I was assuming modern or somewhat futuristic, but I don't think it was mentioned.
>>97514542
>Another rebel without a care for authority! Leo’s gonna like this guy
Seems likely they would get along. Leif isn't good at keeping up with high energy people but he doesn't dislike them, and Leo is innocent enough to not cause an instinctive aggressive response. They have surprisingly compatible worldviews, and in a way Leo is exactly the kind of person Leif tries to make the world better for. Leo also seems younger and that has some influence.

Proving Yourself

This little goober is Vansylvania's mascot, often appearing to support sports teams and public events, at least, before the nation seceded from the world. Now Oinu is the mascot of the war effort! Baa~aa!

Oinu was created as part of Vansylvania's experiments to create a new source of sustenance for vampires, to aid in King Drazil's efforts for coexistence. At first things went well. Oinu could be fed on continually and seemingly no worse for wear. However, Oinu's composition turned out to be toxic to vampires, causing them to develop Vampiric Supercancer over the course of a few months. Who could have known?

No longer useful for its purpose, Oinu feels lost. It considers King Drazil to be its father, and works tirelessly for the sole goal of impressing him.

Good work, anon! You're being too hard on yourself.

The fight was enjoyable from beginning to end, and I'm glad I got to answer you about Momo's intentions. Having other Idolon users not only as spectators but also deterrents to each other made the ongoing fistfight much more tense, since the possibility of the avatars coming in was always looming. The visceral descriptions also helped in that regard. Even the boob punch somehow felt in place to slow down the pace and transition to Momo's internal realization of Kohaku's situation.

The dialogue seemed in character, and the ending left me looking forward for more, so again, good job, be proud.
