My ST decided to introduce a "low-level" vampire hunter to our Chronicle. A cheerleader at some loacl high school found out about the supernatural blah blah. A Buffy expy, basically. After a few encounters and some investigation, we found out she had a boyfriend, where he lived, and more importantly, where she lived. That session, we decided to ambush her house, but not before kidnapping her boyfriend. After subduing and tying her up, we proceeded to torture and mutilate her whole family and boyfriend, forcing her to watch. ST tried to intervene by having the Buffy expy's mentor show up and stop us. But the dice were hot that night and we smoked his ass in a couple of turns. Our Brujah player then had the bight idea to desecrate the mentor's corpse by playing a game of impromptu Operation in front of our would-be adversary. With the buzzes and everything, the sick bastard lol. After a couple of turns of that, we were debating how to finish off the night's fun. A quick interrogation with Dominate revealed that our Buffy's will STILL wasn't broken. So instead of just ending it with a bullet to the head, we decided to Embrace, stake her, and let our Diablerist player have at it. I described that my Toreador was cumming blood during that whole ordeal. Next time our ST introduced hunters, he just brought in a bunch of Society of Leopold veterans lmao. That encounter DIDN'T go well for coterie. C'est la vie.

We were Anarchs btw

>What's the most horrific act you've ever personally committed in a Chronicle?
Played an Antiquarian Darkling of the Autumn Court in a Changeling the Lost chronicle, back in 1e. The motley discovered a Loyalist conspiracy to serve up the entire freehold to the Gentry on a silver platter, but it wasn't taken seriously, due to the freehold being pretty dysfunctional and led by a very influential Queen of Winter who refused to relinquish her post with the passing of seasons. So, my character decided to play up the threat of the Gentry and make it seem like an attack was more imminent than it really was, by imitating them and leaving their calling cards everywhere. This involved researching a lot of local legends and doing a lot of heinous shit.
The worst of the bunch was Granny Dotty, an withered old witch who stole away spoiled children to teach them proper discipline. To prevent them from running back to their parents, she would cut off their hands and feet and bake them into a pie that she left for their family. There was no hard evidence that Granny Dotty actually existed, even as a True Fae, but that didn't stop my character from doing some copycat shenanigans in order to strike fear into the heart of the freehold.
Three missing children, three meat pies and one state-wide media frenzy later, the freehold was in open revolt against the Winter Queen and ready to take a stand against the Gentry and their Loyalists.
My guy didn't make it to the climax of the chronicle, unfortunately. He hit Clarity 0 for obvious reasons and was put down by the rest of the motley, once they found out what he had done. They never told the rest of the freehold though.

Shark once tore apart a nurse and a doctor in a particularly crowded hospital because those two saw my Giovanni coterie member breaking the Masquerade.

Also murdered multiple cops, and hung the headless corpse of one of them on a swing in a park for their buddies to find. While munching on the head in the shadows like the juiciest and crunchiest apple.
>>
>>97514619
I dont play horrific monsters. I play characters that sort of lead you to choose your own road to hell, while being seemingly nice. Like, we came across this one lady who had been fleshcrafted by an Earthbound we were hunting to look like the person we were hunting for, the Earthbound had done this to a handful of people to create false leads. So this lady is freaking out & I tell her, she can work for me, I'll give her a job & what other & I'll even find a way to fix her face, but she has to serve me & never look back. And that's what I did. Eventually I fleshcrafted her a new body, one that didn't even look like her original self though I offered, she wanted to be hotter. She became very loyal to my character because he led her that way. Eventually she was doing things like killing other ghouls, enforcing my will, & blackmailing others like I thought her.

>V5 Is death
About that, what are the chances that Paradox just sits on its ass doing nothing with the IP ever again and letting it die, not even just selling it to another soulless corpo, just letting it die. In this case the only solution would be making our own WoD and publishing it to the public.
>>
>>97515697
they could actually do something worse they could do it like how fantasy flight was done in by having the parent company just upload dept and unprofitable ips to the company and then cut it off
>>
>>97515697
>>97515703
Haven't they already started work on Mage 5? That was next on the agenda. Might be too late to cancel that one, but yeah odds are Paradox sits on the IP for free income like a greedy dragon and then sells when someone desperate or rich comes along. Or when Paradox makes another 40-50 million dollar blunder as they tend to do.

In a theoretical sixth edition of the World of Darkness that is just 20th Anniversary with some minor rules adjustments and lore adjustments to make the setting make more sense for the current year, should there be any metaplot progression? Should there be any significant events that dramatically change the status quo, or should the World of Darkness maintain the same cast of characters who remain in the same positions that they were in during the 20th Anniversary period? Where do you draw the line, when does a logical and sensible change that makes sense within the context of the present day become too significant of a change that disrupts the setting more than it should?

Killing off the stuff that I hate is good, killing off the stuff that I like is bad.

V6 would be extremely based if it destroyed the Anarchs and the Brujah and the Settites and the Ravnos and the Giovanni and the Assamites and the Animalism Discipline, for example. No one would cry over that.

>Should there be metaplot progression
Yes but actually no. So Hunter X Hunter does a very cool thing where the timeline is actually on a rolling progression with the current year in reality. So characters go from having flip phones (98) to smart phones (2020) despite less than a year passing in-setting. So, metaplot can and should happen, but metaplot should always be the current thing happening right now instead of "The world ended in 2006 lol". I also think certain situations like the y2k and 2012 should probably be adapted into their own sideplots. Simply lore should be written as the writers want for the story at any point and to flesh it out, and it just doesn't affect the setting because it always happens at the end of the current year or something.

This semester on... Hunter: the Parenting.
>Kitten and D are STILL in the Chapterhouse, this time meeting all of the "Coalition" guys. It's mostly just the Pentex characters we already met, as well as a single Society of Leopold hunter, who is basically an avatar of every writer's resentment at having to go to church as a kid.
>Kevin and Guy are still off doing side-plots. This time it's actually paying off the "Kevin's sister is still looking for him" plot they set up way back in the police station.
>Marckus wakes up in a Werewolf Cairn and every single member of the werewolf's pack gets introduced in painstaking detail. The video is 2 hours long.
>>
>>97515927
>should there be any metaplot progression?

No, fuck no. The metaplot sucked in the very early 2000s. Even a crack team of genius writers couldn't concoct a satisfying metaplot for people as embittered and divided as today.

>>
HtP is the new Lost. The ending is gonna be super unsatisfying due to all the hype about the 5 million loose ends.
>>
>>97516261
They don't do enough rape and cannibalism to be Skaven, or have enough beef with midgets. Every Fera is a bit of an honorfag anyway because that's just the way their society is built so they don't game the system and murder-rape-kill each other and the humans.
>>
>>97516232
So the setting should remain static, with all of the same factions and the same characters and the same everything existing forever as they are, without any progress, even if that progress makes sense considering the current state of the world?
>>
>>97516261
Why did you think that every single Ratkin was identical? Did you read that they're mass-produced at a factory somewhere?
>>
>>97516237
Ever since the Kevin has a sister looking for him plot got introduced, my roommate and I had this hope that she'd be Kevin's complete opposite. Bright, always-happy, bubbly gigastacy. Probably not the route they'd go, if they still remember that plotline. But the contrast of miserable, bitter, sad sack Kevin and his perfect sister with a perfect life would be hilarious and a good contrast.

>>97516239
>>97516246
I think the character bloat is partially a side-effect of the plot bloat. The real breaking point for me was the werewolf introduction. They'd already introduced a shitload of characters for the Arcanum, but that was fine in a vacuum. The plot was, at the outset, self-contained. Find the ghoul, move on to the next lead after. Anyone who doesn't die during the murder mystery unfolding will be put on the backburner at best or moved on from at worst. I don't know if the werewolf rug-pull was always the intention or something they decided during the lead-up to the Arcanum arc, but it really killed the show's momentum because now there's a whole other host of characters to introduce BUT we're still not done with Arcanum shenanigans. One could still be more efficient with their characters and time following these plot beats, mind you, but it certainly doesn't help.

>>97516255
>they don't just give them their own series
When you're struggling to put out one series, you probably don't wanna start doing spin-offs. They had to cancel that half-life project because putting it and HtP out at the same time was beyond their abilities, so they went with the one getting more views.
>>
>>97516293
I don't think you know what a metaplot is. By all means, have some fluff lines mentioning the changes between then and now. Tell us about new hunting strategies, potential masquerade concerns, masquerade solutions, rising tensions between x and y. But for the love of god leave the metaplot in the dust. I don't care what Sascha Vykos is doing in 2026. I don't wanna hear about what domains have canonically switched from one sect to another. I certainly don't want to read about what giga-Elder Super Theo Bell somehow slumped recently, or if Jan Pieterzoon is experimenting to see if new definitions of rape can sate his blood requirement.

You can acknowledge that time has passed and the night-to-night of Kindred might change alongside it, provide potential plot hooks or resources for running a game set in the modern modern nights. But for the love of god spare us all the retarded, grandiose overtures and smashing together named characters like action figures. V20 was largely a metaplotless edition and it was by in large quite popular. At the ass end of its run it made a metaplot book, BJD. It was easily the worst V20 book, period. You can have a setting without a constantly updating metaplot.
>>
>>97516311
>plot bloat
Yeah. I'm not going to lie the surprise werewolf and Markus kidnapping are fine in a vacuum but if they happened during 4 instead of 5 we would probably have had much more reasonable a scale. 4 and half of 5 was actually pretty grounded and used the characters well, but clearly the cast has to double to make a satisfying conclusion to adding an entirely new splat and conflict. I don't hate the werewolf stuff but it either happened much too late in arc 2 or too early. Imagine if that was the climax of the act, anons would probably be pretty happy with it. Then again, episode 4 alone is the size of the first arc. Minor side shit like Door's burger escapade is okay, but Plane Policework would function better as a between arcs I think.

Ratkin are pretty diverse. There's Ratkin shamans, Ratkin warriors, Ratkin engineers (which are basically diet Nockers) and even Ratkin ''Malkavians'' that spread their own madness.
>>
>>97516342
So you do want all of the same factions and the same characters existing forever as they are, as any update to that is metaplot and metaplot is bad, as all of your examples of metaplot are factions doing things and characters doing things.

So I was right.
>>
>>97516357
Personally I wasn't a fan of the werewolf reveal in either case, largely because I was actually quite fond of the idea of a low-impact, high stakes whodunnit intrigue fest in an old, baroque Arcanum Chapterhouse. Good contrast to the high impact, low stakes vampire fight. The idea of it being just a ghoul they were hunting also greatly appealed to me, since it would be a good time to highlight that WoD, vampire specifically, is a much less straight-up-fight oriented setting, and that oftentimes the most dangerous enemies are the ones who are good at talking and deceiving. Having a fairly weak foe be able to pose a significant threat by virtue of guile could make for an interesting plotline.

So I was honestly pretty let down when they threw that out the window in favor of the werewolf plot, even putting aside the practical problem of creating too many loose plot threads and introducing too many characters.

>What's the most horrific act you've ever personally committed in a Chronicle?

Started and ended a weird 3 way Dark Ages conflict between Garou, Humans and Vampires?

Drained a baby of blood to top off my blood pool and panicked when I heard the family come. Gave it enough to get embraced, I think like 1 or 2 BP and forgot about it for like 5 sessions. Came back to the village under 'orders' from the local Prince to find out why the Garou were suddenly so hostile in the area and its because all there kinfolk children were being burned alive at the stake while the 'babies' were kept indoors away from the bad masia. Turns out the baby somehow still alive but hidden due to the clan discipline it got and normal humans unable to find it and driving everybody mad and scared.

Ate the child because I once more panicked like a retard to hide evidence of my crime and helped 'burn the wicked' away before the actual Inqusition or those that mattered got there. Who when they arrived actually just killed all the humans and remaining kinfolk.

Never went back to that area but there was a 'rebellion put down' of former peasants by the local government in the epolog.

I think I lost like 4 or 6 humanity out of it. Wild times being new and even dumber then now.

In the upcoming Changing Breeds chronical that I'm playing in, the ST originally wanted to restrict content to 20th Anniversary; but caved as soon as the Ratkin player asked if he could take a gift that gave him properties of a cartoon character while in the Umbra.

I think Traditions are actually the nicer Sabbat. The Technocracy is the Camarilla equivalent. Also Marauders and Anarchs don't really match up at all, that's probably why they tried forcing the Disparates meme so hard. Marauders would have to be like Malks if they had no org.
>>
>>97517332
Yeah you're probably right, Technocracy is much more entrenched than traditions. Marauders are just Anarchs in that they're free spirits divorced form the main conflict but like I said, less politics. I think they're the most similar to anarchs though Anarchs proper would be Orphans iirc

Why is it that I seem to give more worth towards regular Disciplines compared to Blood Sorcery Paths? What I mean is that when I’m making a character with blood magic, I’ll be satisfied with just a dot or two in a regular discipline, but I can never seem to be satisfied with the amount of Paths I have. Just one doesn’t seem like enough, but two feels like it wants to be three. How do I leash this greed so that I don’t spend all of my starting xp and freebie points on Paths?
>>
how does obfuscation work? is it like that scene with the food in the lost boys at advanced levels?
>>
>>97517491
You do actually, that's what prompted the discussion. It's just even less intended for you to play than the Sabbat, who were heavily requested. Nephandi are so unstable and ebil for shits and giggles that the writers kind of put their foot down on it. There are rules, you just aren't intended to use them for players

>>
>>97515927
Set it in the near future, like 2040 or something, but based on what we thought the future would look like in the mid-late 2000's. That way it remains a period piece disconnected from, but similar to, reality, while keeping the tone and vibe created by a very specific era in time. Phones in the World of Darkness should not be featureless slabs of plastic that are completely uniform. They maybe shouldn't be smart, something closer to a PDA on a dumbphone. And have a flip keyboard.
>>
>>97517579
I honestly just thought it would be the funniest shit to throw at players and tragedy-kino. Could be worse, I plan on turning one of the player's sister into a Tzimisce after she gets mind broken like Beatrice from Dante's Inferno
>>97517580
It could be, propensity to kidnap and embrace newborns on a Malkavian. I know Swan Song had the babe who was hallucinating her daughter but I feel like children often go unused in plots. It is quite a gruesome fate, so I can see why
>>
>>97517580
I had the end result of this as an NPC once.

During a small Sabbat incursion, the party decapitated the leadership, which was all well and good, but it left a bunch of Shovelheads scattered to the wind.
One of them had her kid killed in front of her for 'no ties' reasons. She then went and found a kid who looked like her own, a young teen, and embraced her so they could 'be together'.
Poor kid had a widower dad, so for a little bit genuinely thought the vamp was her undead mum. The Coterie eventually put the shovelhead down and took the kid under their wing, laws be damned, after having to figure out what was behind a spate of 'suicides' up at the local school.

Worst part was that when she figured out her clan she was a Toreador. It didn't come up for obvious reasons but everyone winced a bit realising that her newfound penchant for flower arranging came with a lot of very unpleasant adult implications.
>>
>>97517567

There was this Imbued couple that came across a newborn that had been Embraced. The wife, a Redeemer, wanted to save it. The husband, a Defender, went TOTAL BLOODSUCKER DEATH and killed it instead. It lead to a martial dispute.
>>
>>97517630
The writers really didn't want players to play baby-eating cannibals who get off on emotionally and physically torturing people. The sabbat sort of had this problem originally too but the Nephandi genuinely just have no nuance, they're there to go make life worse for someone at any given moment

The Toreador clan curse makes them obsess over something they find beautiful. This can - and over enough time, will - be a human being at some point. If that happens they will do absolutely everything they can to experience all that beauty, and get as close to that person as they can - most immediately, physically.

At best, the kid is going to be completely unable to really interface with that in a way an adult should be able to. At worst, they're going to do what Toreador do best: bring someone to bed. While inhabiting the body of a child.

Why the fuck don't Gargoyles have a distinguishment between the ones made by the Tremere and the one Embraced?
Their WHOLE CULTURE seems to be their enslavement, and almost everything written about them is about how they are while in the service of a Tremere or why they're horrifying.
But logically there'd be Gargoyles who had enver known enslavement, who're the grandchilder, who would hope to integrate into some kind of community of their own (especially in Anarch spaces) or even throw their lot in with the Sabbat to be 'their own masters', at least theoretically.

What do you think the blood of 'purer' (i.e. Gargoyle-Embraced) Gargoyles compels them to do? What're their banes, their blessings, what does their culture look like, how do the other Septs and Clans view them?

How have (You) used gargoyles in your game, anons?

>What's the most horrific act you've ever personally committed in a Chronicle?
I played a fat ugly bastard Setite Priest in a London DAV20 chronicle. The Church of the Black Magdalene was expanding into Canterbury and the Coterie had been undermining the local faithful Toreador in charge of its Cathedral ever since the Chronicle began, with him taking a particular dislike to my Setite.

After several misadventures the Setite Church had expanded its domain and the Toreador had been left with nothing. The Setite invited the Toreador to a festival for a "water under the bridge" over a game of chess and a few drinks of wine using the Brew of Typhon ritual combined with To Lace With Hidden Nectar. So after finding out about his sire (turns out the reason he was so devout was guilt over having killed his sire, though I didn't engage with the material properly since I didn't get the ST's ball) and getting him nice and loose, we brought him down to the secret Akhu altar, he had sex with one of the sexy setite ghoul assassin nuns on top of it, and being distracted, my Fat Bastard Priest used Serpentis 2 Tongue of the Asp to eat his ass to final death. I sent the goosh goosh video - https://youtu.be/LigcOxX-wJw - to the chat. He then became the centerpiece/temple onahole of the blasphemy shrine.

The ST was... perplexed.

Question to everyone… if you have a fae enchant a mortal, would you still be hit by paradox if you do magic in front of them? What if it’s not their first time being enchanted so they know wonder and “magic” exists?

>>97518138
Paradox isn't necessarily a single guy's perception fighting back at you, it's the entirety of reality telling you that no, you cannot phase through that wall. So even if a mortal, say an enchanted one or a sorcerer, believed in magic. They don't believe in M a g i c like you asserting your will over reality. So yeah, you'd still get fucked by Paradox though probably not as hard since no one important is there to observe. As per your second point, Fianna aren't necessarily slutty but they're pretty Fae blooded and certainly have a more celebratory culture. Yeah, you don't need to be a slut and it might be more interesting if they aren't but that's certainly the stereotype. Tribe with the most metis btw, so yeah.
>>

>Question to everyone… if you have a fae enchant a mortal, would you still be hit by paradox if you do magic in front of them? What if it’s not their first time being enchanted so they know wonder and “magic” exists?

Go re-read how reality zones and consensus works
>>
>>97518138
Anyone who is considered Night-Folk or strongly associated with Night-Folk are no longer Sleepers. As ghouls are temporarily enhanced humans who are considered an example of humans who are no longer Sleepers and enchanted humans are temporarily enhanced humans who are able to interact with the Dreaming and the chimeric reality of changelings, I would argue that enchanted humans do not count as Sleepers for the duration of their enchantment.

However, the consensus of a reality zone usually comes first. If your magick does not make sense according to the localised perception of reality, regardless of whether you have witnesses or not, your magick is vulgar and incurs Paradox. If your vulgar magick is witnessed by a Sleeper, the Paradox incurred by it is much more severe. If your magick is coincidental, it does not matter how many Sleepers witness it, Paradox is not incurred.
The exceptions to this rule are Sleepers from a different reality zone to the one that you are casting magick in, and Assistants. Numerous Sleeper witnesses from a reality zone where your magick would be vulgar might turn your magick vulgar, even if it is normally coincidental in the reality zone in which it is being cast. Meanwhile, Assistants, various acolytes who are familiar with your paradigm and believe in your magick, can serve as a sympathetic audience and even turn your magick coincidental in an area where it would normally be vulgar.
Ultimately though, there are some specific forms of magick which are always vulgar, no matter what reality zone they are cast in and that will always incur some degree of Paradox.
>>
>>97518333
I wonder if it would be possible to use the Mind Sphere to ass-rape the consensus in the area and then just do your vulgar magic? I suppose that's vulgar magic in itself though.
>>
>>97518380
If you socially condition everyone in the area using coincidental magick, I don't see why it wouldn't work. It would be a long and slow process however, as mindfucking everyone in the area at once would probably come across as vulgar magick, and there would probably be opposition to your methods, especially depending on the instruments that you use for your mind-altering magick.
The final result would be a cult of acolytes, an entire town of people who earnestly believe in your paradigm and in which your magick is almost entirely coincidental as long as it doesn't break the fundamental rules. No unaided flight, no otherworldly portals, no spontaneous generation of large amounts of matter or energy, no significant manipulation of the time stream, no outlandish transformation of objects and entities, etc.

the talk about the culture of bloodlines forgets that most bloodlines are TINY we are talking single to two digits: samedi are allegedly the largest bloodline, that isn't just a variant of a clan like mariner gangrel or dominate malkavian, and those guys could fit all into one train wagon

so gargoyles don't have much of a culture beside their past because there are like 30 left (a dozen of which are feral in the mountains of transylvania and hunted by dracula and his aliies for sport) in the final nights and most of them know Virstania personally even tonight

how this doesn't mean that bloodlines are filled with mostly powerful elders who surrived since the darkages is a plot hole in white wolf's writing that they never cared to fix because most bloodlines where just meant to be exotic one off npcs for the storyteller to feature when bored

I’ve been trying to figure out what paths to take all day and I think that part of it may just be the sheer variety of paths. Or maybe it’s not enough paths. It can be difficult sometimes to really figure out what Paths make the most sense for a particular character to take, in terms of both function and theme. I can only dip into a few at most, but i can find reasons to take so many.

the Nephandi are the complete opposite, their goal is descending into the most dystopic world imaginable while ruining any hope humanity ever had that the world could be a good place or that life could be enjoyed.

Because Paths are the best. Plus there just isnt that many Disciplines that are worth it especially if you have access to blood sorcery. Maybe Fortitude & Celerity if you really want. Vicissitude is always nice.

As for Paths it depends on what you want. Path of Blood gives you a handful of useful abilities, info gathering, Dominate resistance & buffing your own Dominate (my artificially lowering your Generation) not to mention expanding your blood pool for fights. And the last two fuck up other vampires & huma s by stealing vitae or burning it. I always recommend Path of Blood first.

Then we get into the more interesting aspects.

Path of the Focused Mind will let you cast twice a turn, do this one next but you needn't finish it.

Ive talked about Path of Conjuring before. It allows you to manifest straight up bombs if you want. You imagination is the literal limit. Theoretically with a few dots in Science you could conjure a nuke without any real fuss. Summon spikes above the enemy or even solid gold/diamonds to sell for quick cash, no need for resources, as this will create the resource dots for you with a few castings

Path of Warding is good for defense but its crazy good for offense when used correctly. Mark a fistful of pennies with warding glyphs & you do tons of damage to people you throw them at since each individual coin his with its own damage. You can also put ritual wards on them to compound the damage further.

Movement of the Mind can help you steal. As well as telepathically throw all those pennies.

Path of Mercury let's you teleport. Ultimate get the fuck out of jail card. Its a 5 dot MUST in my opinion. You can build an underground haven with no access other than teleportation if you want. The range is 5 miles so that covers a good chunk of most towns & city neighborhoods.
>>
>>97518672

Ushabti are great & can be a real source of vitae.

Divine Hand is cool too

For the most part, I think the straight damage Paths arent nearly as good as the ones that let you do odd stuff. Odd stuff & a clever mind will always be better than a formula to turn vitae into damage. You have Path of Blood as your basic fallback damage source, Lure of Flames can suck it

I would argue that since it's a single-target, requires prep, and high rank it should be able to keep the stupid high damage at the cost of number of shots stored being 1+your stamina score, or if that's too low then charges stored = stamina+ successes on a stamina+science roll

Fun fact, this exists in lore. A bunch of english SoL cenacula went indie when the Church of England was formed, they call themselves the Society of Saint George, not to be confused with the Knights of Saint George.

However, they already set up the weird Arcanum-Leopold alliance, it'd be odd if they didn't pay it off.

>they call themselves the Society of Saint George, not to be confused with the Knights of Saint George.
actually hunters hunted 2 implies that they are related

>Knights of St. George The Resolute Knights of St. George, as they are occasionally called, was established in Syria in the 11th century. They spread across the world, and by the 1400’s, there were chapterhouses of this knighthood from Ireland to India. The Knights of St. George have always been a forward-looking order, inducting women in the 19th century, and opening their doors to non-Christians in the early 20th. There are alchemists, sorcerous numinist, and mortal researchers. A splinter group, the Society of St. George, is even believed to be able to wield powerful magic. All of them have sworn to hunt evil upon the world, and primarily focus their attention on vampires
so unlike the society of leopold these guys have actual sorcerers instead of just theurges and if you poke them enough you'll get awakened paladins

One of the problems I run into is that the objective usefulness of some Paths like Conjuration or Movement of the Mind is the same thing that leads me to wonder if I should go for a more specialized Path. My thought process being:

The reason the book gives is that the Society doesn't reveal itself to popes much anymore. It has for some, but not all. Apparently revealing itself to John Paul I went quite poorly, and it just so happens he died a month after he became Pope. Funny, that.

Other fun lore from that book includes the Austrian girlboss, Ingrid Bauer, who is in charge of the Society's operations in Austria. She's no diversity hire, in fact she's far more hardline and traditionalist than most of the Society's leadership, her major claim to fame being bringing medieval torture methods back into vogue. Not just on vampires, but on suspected collaborators. Or the Florentine Heresy, when an Inquisitor realized that society orthodoxy, that vampires are just demons joyriding corpses, was just wrong and they were people turned by a curse. He then began offering honest attempts at salvation and redemption to any vampire willing to listen, to repent for their sins, and to help them overcome their cursed existence through the grace of God. The Society had him and all his followers killed when they found out.

What's fun about the Society of Leopold is how they can be way more liberal than the actual Catholic Church in some respects, like laypeople and especially women within the Society, and in positions of prominence no less. While also having stayed in the Middle Ages on other things, and the tacit rejection of Vatican 2. They're a very fun mess of contradictions.

What is their specialty? I'm just giving you the best "bang for your buck" recommendations. If you have RP reasons for such, then I can reevaluate. But Blood>Focused Mind>Conjuration>Mercury>Others is the route I recommend. As a neonate, by the time you get enough xp to get Blood 5 Focus 3 & Conjuration 4 you'll have enemies enough to warrant Mercury 5. After that it's just refining your personal needs. Just a little MotM is great to steal small things & push buttons across the room etc. Warding goes into damage & defense. Think of it like an academic, you need a broad foundation before you specialize or you just grab that ONE THING & never touch thaumaturgy again like many NPCs.

>is a ghoul with dominate considered to be at their dominors generation or to have none (and unable to dominate any sort of vampire)?
iirc ghouls are technically 2 generations higher but there's a decent chance thats from requiem.
>>
>>97520481
Is that the one with the merit that gives -2 difficulty for all rolls involving deduction?
>>
Caine really said "Always obey the oldest vampire around, for they are closest to me. Be loyal to your sire because they're your sire. I fucking HATE diablerie, it is the greatest sin a vampire can commit."

Then the Sabbat pretended to not hear that, did the exact opposite of what Caine said, and call themselves His Sword.

It's literally "i don't like it so it must not be true"

I think it's this one:
Uncanny Logic (2pt Merit)
You have an uncanny reasoning ability that allows you to take apparently innocuous facts and ruthlessly deduce their true meaning. There is nothing supernatural in this: you have just been blessed with an ordered and uncluttered mind that can work through trains of thought more fully than others can manage. All difficulties on rolls involving deduction decrease by 2.

Any way to have poison mist power for a vampire?

I’m looking at fomori powers, and it’s not entirely what I’m looking for…
• Hazardous Breath: The fomor can spew a cloud of harmful halitosis on anyone within reach.

System: Inflict one Health Level of damage with a successful Dexterity + Brawl roll (difficulty 7). This can be used once per scene for each point of Stamina the fomor has. However, the cloud can’t extend farther than the fomor can reach.

The range is pretty small, and only usable in melee.

• Hazardous Heave: The fomor must have Hazardous Breath to gain this power; treat this as buying a second power.
System: Like Hazardous Breath, but the spewed substance is caustic, inflicting two Health Levels of damage each turn until the substance is washed off or the subject dies. The fluid might resemble napalm, gasoline, or toxic waste.

• Noxious Breath: The fomor releases poisonous fumes into the air. Those nearby are filled with inexplicable cravings. The fumes weaken the lung tissue (or stomach lining) of those who breathe it.
System: The fomor rolls Stamina + Medicine (difficulty 6). Fumes waft within 20 yards of the fomor. Anyone within range must make a Willpower roll (difficulty 8) or get an irresistible urge for an unhealthy (but still consumable or inhalable) substance, such as alcohol or a cigarette (even if the victim doesn’t drink or smoke): the substance can’t be toxic, corrosive, or poisonous. Each target that fails this Willpower roll suffers one Health Level of damage. The damage is aggravated and can’t be soaked. (Some variants of this power have a different smell that induce overwhelming cravings for unhealthy food, such as a hunger for raw meat or burned bacon; the damage is inflicted to the stomach lining instead.) Noxious Breath can only be used three times in a scene.

Really close to what I want. But the damage seems to only be done once the victim indulges in a vice. At least it has a range.
>>
>>97522500
I think you could try getting that as the 5 dot merit:
Innate Magical Ability (5pt Merit)
You have some sort of magical ability that makes you unique. this ability is different from any normal vampiric power or Discipline. The exact nature of your ability should remain mysterious to you, though you have some say in what that ability is.
>>
>>97522569
I was thinking of this merit to get the power
>>
>>97521177
>What is their specialty?
Well that's part of the problem, every Path I browse when trying to choose even just a Primary Path shows me wholly unique "paths" that I could take the character down. I think you might be the same anon I talked with this about a thread or two ago, so sorry if I repeat myself, but I'll just list out what I'm working with so far.
>Revised Edition
>Starting with 50exp to spend
>No Dark Ages stuff
>Anarch city with a neighboring Cammie city
>Basic concept is a coptic woman from Egypt who was embraced into the Sorcerer caste of the Banu Haqim because of her dogged attempts to study exorcistic and healing Christian faith magics.
>The single-most horrifying moment of her existence was catching a glimpse of Ur-Shulgi shortly before the schism
>She sided with the Schismatics, but refuses to work with the Camarilla out of sheer hatred of the Tremere
They're kinda sporadic, but these are the only elements that have stayed consistent throughout my time thinking up this character

That WAS me as a matter of fact! The sexy nun ghoul assassin squad themed after the 7 virtues/sins only ended up with 3 members since I wanted them to be somewhat combat capable but it was worth it. We had cornered a Tzimisce that had been causing trouble in the region into her cave haven and managed to make her flee, but couldn't pursue her all the was because daytime was approaching. That's when Sister Patience managed to stake her as she slept and guard her until night-time, where the rest of the coterie caught up and we brought the prisoner to the prince to be made an example. She earned an embrace for that one.

Well, I want to play Hassan of Serenity and I was wondering what would make her so special to be the only one who’s 100% poison 100% of the time. Deadly to even undead like kindred. Now I got it. Her sire/mentor could be a sorcerer of the Covenant of Nergal who enchanted her to be this way.

So far I have found flaws to mimic her condition of no touchie or else you die.

You can always just bootleg quietus or ask your ST to homebrew up a poison discipline. >I've never actually read Mage enough to under stand how to paradigm but I may soon to see what might be possible.
In M20, it boils down to:
>Paradigm
According to your mage, what are the fundamental principles that the world works according to?
>Practice
Why does your mage believe he is able to wield magic within that paradigm?
>Instrument
What methods are fundamental to the wielding of magic within your mage's practice?
>Effect
What does your magic seek to do with the magic that they perform using their instruments?

So for a semen sorcerer, you could go with:
>The universe runs on the masculine will to power, the fundamental driving force that exists within everything that compels everything in reality to grow strong and to dominate (paradigm). I harness this fundamental force of the universe through semen retention, accumulating as much masculine energy as I am able and only expending it in dire circumstances (practice). I accomplish this through testicle breathing, Kegel exercises, a strict diet to maximise semen production and sperm quality and only ejaculating when I must exert my masculine will to power in order to dominate the universe (instruments). My semen retention makes me stronger, smarter and more attractive than I otherwise would be and I can accomplish truly great feats when I do ejaculate, such as time travel and astral projection (effects).

In Chronicles, what happens if a vampire feeds vitae to a Mage? Can you ghoul a mage?
>>
>>97527131
It probably triggers a clash of wills.
>>
>>97527131
in 2ed at least you can not gain second template even two minior ones won't mix and major one always overwrites a minor one

so no ghoul werewolves, mages, changelings just like you have no wolf blooded mages, changeling and vampires (beside that one gangrel bloodline lorewise, but they don't have the wolf blooded template rules wise) and if your ghoul become a mage he stops your ghoul that second
>>
>>97527131
>>97527180
Got it. Which probably means they also can't spend vitae to heal. My vampire recently tried to feed vitae to a "mortal" in order to save her when she was shot, and is now trying to puzzle out why she didn't end up dependent on more of his vitae. Also how she survived a bullet that went entirely through her heart.
>>
>>97527131
You can ghoul a Mage if you want to per the crossover rules in Contagion. It just works like you'd expect.
>>
>>97527193
yeah even the blood sorcerer like minior templates who can use vitae for their stuff can't become ghouls and use vitae the way they do

it's a bit weird and clunky in my opinion so i personally allow a bit of template mixing when i run cofd, but if your st goes full by raw then that mortal didn't become a ghoul and saved herself another way it all you have however is that she surrived a lethal shot in the heart she could however also be a kind of immortal or any other lesser known supernatural with regeneration instead of a mage
>>
>>97527131
It’s funnier when a mage feeds a vampire their own blood. Apparently it’s a powerful (Supernal) high.

Mages will smirk if a vampire threatens to bite them since they’re like “go right on ahead, buddy!”. And then they get raped by Supernal fae. Poor vampy.

Both Mage lines were heavily shaped by one cripplingly autistic dude. Ascension had Brucato, a weirdo sex pest who thought magic was actually real. Mage was his pet splat and he wanted to move heaven and earth to make them the most powerful and important template ever.

It's fine as long as you say "no homo".

Seelie Redcaps are actually pretty cool, they're fighting a life long battle against crippling murder rage and winning. You can get a lot of respect being that cool.
>>
>>97528573
Except from other Redcaps, who call you 'gay' and 'cringe' and 'a moralfag' and also keep trying to murder you.
>>
>>97528573
>>97528677
I would call fellow redcaps gay and cringe and try to murder them too ngl
>>
>>97528677
But those are acceptable targets, so you get to let loose on them and impress all the pooka girls
>>
>>97528711
The ones that all go 'wow, you're so cool!' and 'that big mouth with the giant teeth just makes you look handsome, honest!' and 'I don't have a boyfriend!', you mean?
>>
>>97528732
And then you get to live despair kino trying to not murder them, while knowing they're what you want to cannibalize the most

Also now that you've had your Chrysalis don't forget to start fights and main people every now and then to get Glamour back. Or get really good at inspiring with hope. Either or, really.
But you also get to have more fun than any mortal ever could.

In Requiem it would probably delay the damage by about 3 to 5 turns or downgrade the scale of the flame by a similar degree.

Could you do the Paradigm/Practice/Instrument/Effect for my Ferectoi Mage?

I know that his essence is primordial, his main sphere is Spirit followed by Prime, and he’s inspired by Palmer from HTP… so a Syndicate guy working for Pentex. So far the only instrument that comes to my mind is using a camera for spirit photography. Taking pictures of people, without their knowledge that they have been photographed with a bane. The polaroid would show the bane, and probably the state of wyrm possession.

Though I don’t know if you can use only one type of instrument. I just think it’d be fun if he was the social guy taking selfies with strangers, and keeping a notebook with contacts and other infos on people he meet, having a list of many “friends” he regularly visit… but in reality he’s handcrafting stronger than average Fomori, and getting favours from banes. In that case photography is more of a hobby than a way of life.

To start with, all mages have at least one paradigm, at least one practice and at least seven instruments, with spells typically weaving multiple instruments together to start with. Starting with Arete 3, mages can start shedding instruments, until they abandon the need for instruments at all at Arete 9 and can perform magic without the need for them whatsoever.

For your ferectoi, using the default options, I'd go with:
>Paradigm(s)
A World of Gods and Monsters (believes that his power comes from the Wyrm), Might is Right (believes that his power comes from his innate superiority) and/or One-Way Trip to Oblivion (believes that his power is tied to the Apocalypse).
>Practice(s)
Dominion (wields his power through dominating others), Faith (wields his power through devotion to the Wyrm) Maleficia (wields his power through deliberate acts of evil), Reality Hacking (wields his power through disruption of the status quo) and/or Shamanism (wields his power through communion with spirits).
>Instruments
Artwork, blood and fluids, bones and remains, brews and concoctions, computers and IT gear, devices and machines, drugs and poisons, energy, eye contact, languages, mass media, money and wealth, offerings and sacrifices, prayers and invocations, social domination, symbols and/or voice.

Effects are just what your character does with their magic, not a part of the focus.
