If not, could you describe a female unit or model you'd like to see?
Now that the dust has settled, why did the Helsmiths of Hashut flop?
>TQ Probably Morgvaeth
>>97529562My goddess
That new OBR warband is the sort of thing I’d like to see more of out of the faction. The gravestone dudes are really neat and weird (in a good way).
>>97529562>TQWhile the faces aren't tragically ugly, all the KO female units are just headswaps and don't look good on the masculine bodies. I'd love a one off dwarf girl pirate or baroness character. Either steering a ship or as part of a small warband style unit where it's a royal dwarf woman and her retinue of guards. Sadly GW can't even deliver on attractive human women, nevermind dwarves.
>>97530126I'm in the same weird came but they kind of missed the mark for me with these guys and I'm not sure whats bothering me. Not enough maybe or too much already, but hoping we see more creative stuff.Anyone came up with a reason why they've got no mouths?
>>97529648People liked the idea of HoH more so than the models themselves
>>97530274really good opportunity on those cloaked assassins to paint their cloaks as flayed skin
>TQ: would>>97530261The only female Dwarf in Drekki Flynt was bigger than the males. You just want a shortstack to crank your hog to.
>>97530261....have you seen KO women?
>>97530370She wouldn't need fat tits, I just want a dwarf female that doesn't have an identical body to the male dwarves, and maybe even a pretty face if we could be so lucky.>>97530384to be fair, that's clearly some kind of blue collar working dwarf woman, so her being more muscular makes sense. An aristocratic dwarf woman that doesn't work wouldn't have to be built like that. I have no hopes whatsoever that modern GW would ever do it, I don't think they're art team even knows what female bodies look like anymore. I've seen high quality 3d prints that fit the description, might be fun to make that a character for a path to glory campaign or something.
>>97530554They're a meritocracy, anon. You're not going to be an Arkanaut if you can't carry your own weight - nevermind being an Admiral or Captain.
>>97529562I think my faction only has a single female model lmfao I love her though, her look is peak Nurgle.
>>97530634Huh, you're right. There are no non-Underworlds female models in Maggotkin.Maggotkin are one of the few remaining Chud factions.
My name is Thanatek. I’m uncountable years old. I believe in taking care of my tithe, and a balanced reap and a rigorous boneshaping routine. In the morning, if my bones are a little cracked, I’ll put on a soul reservoir while shaping my stomach bones. I can shape a thousand now. After I remove the soul reservoir I use a deep lode of saturation. In the Nexus I use a grave sand activated lordly phylactery, then a marrowpact, and on the face an exfoliating vial of binding. Then I apply an ivory host bone masque which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shape marrow with little or no flesh resedue, because flesh rots your bones out and makes you look less undead. Then gothizzar cartouche, then a mortal contract followed by a final reshaping protective soul. There is an idea of a Thanatek. Some kind of abstraction. But there is no mortal me. Only an entity. Something reshaped. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel bone tithing yours, and maybe you can even sense our personalities are probably comparable, I simply am not mortal.
>>97530661They have that new grub-witch from Darkwater, but I don't even think she has a Warscroll for actual AoS.
>>97530634>>97530661Literally right there
>>97530738>>97530701>2 wom*nChuds, not like this....
>>97530692I can't get into this right now, I have to return some bones.
TQ:OBR: yes but you wouldn't be able to tell from looking at them.
>>97529562Maybe unpopular opinion but I am completely fine with Yndrasta. Picrel, my Yndrasta
>>97530910you should be able to tell ossiarch females by looking at them or reading their lore, ossiarchs aren't skeletal enough for that trick to workwhich is why they're the only army that's without female representation despite not being an agendered race like lizards or greenskins
>>97530916i think Yndrasta is neat.
>>97530916I'm not a fan of her sidecut and I never like it when models hold both a spear and a sword, but other than that yeah she's pretty cool.
>>97530916The only thing I don't like is that dyke hairstyle, it's a really nice model otherwise
>>97530916she is cool i will eventually get her i plan to replace her sword with one of the prosecutor shields. Also weird thing is, in her book it never references her sword, it only ever describes her using Thengever? the spear forgor what its called
>>97530922Untrue. A Katakros short story in WD confirmed one of his assistants is female. I think it was the spymaster.Since the bodies of OBR are all artificially created and then besouled, unless a Boneshaper feels like it, their bodies won't be recognizable female.
>TQShe suffered a lot. :(
>>97530975>female >no female features despite bones shaped in imitation of flesh sexist much
>>97530972Thengavar. also, i want Yndrasta and Neave to make out.
>>97530972>Also weird thing is, in her book it never references her sword, it only ever describes her using Thengever?Yeah it's pretty weird. Even in her initial rules her main weapon is a sword and she just kinda chucks the spear at things, even though her spear is a legendary weapon personally gifted to her by Sigmar and her sword is just a random sword.
>>97530985Bit unrelated to the rest of the thread but I always found this model kind of weird. It's a cool model awkwardly placed on top of another really cool model making the end result kind of meh. Very similar to teclis in that way (although teclis on his own isn't nearly as cool as allarielle, Celennar carries). Morathi is leading the elf-off so far, by a lot. Maybe the secret is splitting the elf and the accompanying monster into two separate models?
>>97531097>Maybe the secret is splitting the elf and the accompanying monster into two separate models? That is correct The problem is that if gw makes monster and important character separate then people will buy the important character alone and not dish out the money for the big monster, while if you sell them together in the same box but have rules for them to be separate then people will also ignore the big pricey box and instead proxy the important charactermaking hero and monster separate models that must be fielded in the same army is one way to tackle this, but then again you can already do that, just putting the elven god on a separate base that's irrelevant for rules purposes
>>97530274>Not enough maybe or too much alreadytoo top-heavy, I think the design could've been enhanced with one or two more legs, so it'd look like two dudes back-to-back stuck together by the coffin
>>97530910Ossiarchs have bone flesh so they can have huge bone tits if they want
>>97531123That might be it actually, that or just some extra thick legs. Am slightly annoyed they're mostly reusing the exisitng baseline mortek body for almost everything and not veering into different shapes.
>>97530692>I have none of the characteristics of a human being: no blood, flesh, skin, hair; and not a single, clear, identifiable emotion, except for greed, and disgust.
>>97531123That's actually a great idea
>>97531097I think if she were made now she would have a more dynamic pose but Alarielle still holds up imo. Sylvaneth are so fucking cool.
>>97531183The beetle is cool enough that I can forgive the awkward posing, though yeah I agree could be done a lot better. Still a fine model.
>>97531142>my boners have giant tits because they are intended as soul containers they use to gather up soul-stuff from those they slay for use in making more boners>that's why killiest ones have the biggest tits>after each campaign, they deposit their loads and shrink back down, ready for another round of enlargementIt practically writes itself!
>>97531265I think the beetle is the more awkwardly posed one. She's clearly casting, whereas it's just looming at nothing in particular. Bearing in mind that it is not actually a beetle or summoned creature but a functionally immortal spirit itself.
>>97531142>>97531304>they have already forgotten about Ghuri-Xza the Queen of Tusks
It's a thing.
>>97531320We didn't. She just doesn't have any canon depiction

>>97531527Some feather from knigthslop>>97531540Towdlers don't get REs

>>97531548>Towdlers don't get REsThey did get dwarf stuff
>>97531527Endless spell?
>>97531554Sounds like a sidegame thing
>>97531540or a 40k rogue trader
>>97531558Dobut it, but who knows
>>97531554that's just not how morteks are made, they come from a multitude of people's bones and soul fragments, they're not a person that gets gradually turned into one one graft after another ossiarch cultists would be living citizens of shyish with clear signs of having paid the tithe in the form of missing limbs and fingersideally they would have crude metallic prosthetics in place of bones, as stuff made of bones would be reserved for the ossiarchs properand also various tattoos or brands pointing what parts are reserved for the tithe next time, and the quality, like cattlebut models for the living in an undead army is missing the point of an undead army, I'd just skip the entire living part and make them indentured slave skeletons waiting to be reaped or unfit to be reaped instead
>>97531573It looks like something being thrown out of a jar rather than a plume. If it is a plume, it’s pretty shitty looking.
>>97531597Maybe it's a leaf.
>>97531548nah the new Marauder models and the new dwarf model got REs so TOW isn't excluded like say MESBG is
>>97531597The RE article calls it a feather >that doesn’t mean you can’t look stylish while you’re there. Just take the owner of this dashing feather for instance
>>97531597Your eyes are fucked up
>>97530985>>97531097>>97531117A couple of months ago some anon pointed out that all current elf god models come with a big monster, either as part of the same mini or as its own semi separate thing like with morathi. The relationship between each is also slightly different. Alarielle's beetle-spirit-thing is a mount, she's clearly placed on top. Teclis is side to side with celennar, who is a powerful figure in his (?) own right, and more like an equal. Morathi and the shadow queen are both aspects of the same entity (or at least they were, I'm not too up to date on her lore I think they got separated or some shit). This might tie into duality, which was always a big theme with elves, and in aos maybe even more so with the whole ulgu/hysh thing. Now the interesting part is, assuming this is actually a pattern and not just pareidolia in model form, how they would continue this trend. Malerion is depicted with monstrous form in one of like two aos artworks we have from him, so it's a fair assumption the elf and the monster would be conjoined in model form too. That leaves tyrion, who is linked to the ur-phoenix, or what remains of it. I don't think it's a stretch to imagine it would appear on his model, with the phoenix rising above him as the new configuration.Alright that's my schizo contribution for the week.
>>97529562>TQAngharad remains my favourite female Fatcast sculpt. It's such a shame we hadn't had many more of Warrior Chamber chicks.
>>97531658Malarion also shows up as just a guy in a story, so i expect Morathi style dual model thing. But instead of beign 2 bodies he is just 1 guy that morphs
>>97531548It's rare, but they've gotten RE's in the past.
>>97531722yeah there were some hanging chains and stuff that were part of the new marauders and their horsesDoes horus heresy get REs? I forget.
>>97531586i know that is not how morteks are made, but the novel vulture lord already set the precedent with the lord in that novel being mortal once before being made an ossiarch. The loyalty in the mortek souls has to be farmed somewhere.
>>97531744Yeah, HH gets REs but it seems pretty rare, or im just bad at telling HH marines from 40k marines
>>97531658?
>>97531782Yeah that was probably the post, don't remember the heralds though, and I don't know if I'd put the eidolons in the same category as the existing elven gods. Also isn't belthanos basically the replacement to orion, instead of what this graph would show.

I haven't been keeping up with official releases and all that jazz, do they still do anything along the lines of ye olde Uniforms & Heraldry books? I know Battletomes have a couple of scheme suggestions for Sigmarines and Chaos, but I was looking for some inspo for my NHaunts and OBR>>97529562>TQThe one and only
>>97532208Unfortunately that sort of thing is rare now, they usually do show off an army fully painted in an alternate colour scheme though. I remember recent gravelords tome had a nice Drowned Kigdom look or something. But lots of alternate schemes shown off like in the early tomes is pretty rare now, sorry. Here, have some flamehaunt I found. Maybe it helps.
>>97532208>do they still do anything along the lines of ye olde Uniforms & Heraldry booksThey don't since 2012 dude. Even when they did, they released only 3 books in 4 years.>I know Battletomes have a couple of scheme suggestions for Sigmarines and ChaosLiterally every single battletome comes with alternative paint schemes and heraldry, if there is any. They change across editions as well so you have 10 years worth of books to check which is like 20 times more than "ye olde Uniforms & Heraldry books".>>97532272>that sort of thing is rare nowThat sort of things was actually more rare in the past.
>>97532280Alternate paint schemes in battletomes? I definitely feel like there were more in the earlier ones. Idk how much of that stuff there was in whfb army books, if that's what you're getting at.

>>97532272Oh ye flamehaunts are neat, I actually had found this scheme which I wanted to replicate but I was looking for even more inspo - the battletome I'd found had a blood-themed scheme as well as one (very lame) metal-themed one.>>97532280>if there is anyThat's the catch, but thank you for the information. >>97532316>Alternate paint schemes in battletomes?Seems like so.>I definitely feel like there were more in the earlier ones. That's true, unfortunately. >>97532720Yeah, the 2E BoC tome was fucking awful. BoC spent the entire edition just flooding the map with bodies because they were physically incapable of killing anything. The Cygor steadily dropped in points every balance pass and still never reached a level that made it playable. 3E BoC battletome was awesome though. Shame they got squatted five minutes later.
>>97532632>Cities 2nd editionI'M STILL FUCKING MAD.GOD FUCKING DAMNIT GW WHY DID YOU NIGGER UP THE FACTION SO MUCH. WHY IS IT SO FUCKING SOULLESS WHEN THIS BOOK LET YOU MAKE YOUR DREAM ARMY THAT WAS NOT PERFECTLY THEMATIC TO YOUR CHOSEN CITY, BUT ALSO EFFECTIVE AND NOT A COMPLETE JOKE?!
>>97532760>3E BoC battletome was awesome though. Shame they got squatted five minutes later.Everyone always talks about how it's ironic that beastmen get treated as badly by gw as they do by the gods in universe, but someone in the rules team clearly loves them at least. 3e BoC were great fun and I've heard similar things about their tow rules. Can't say the same for wood elves for example.

>>97529648Because they released an army direct from WHFB (and had only just proven a popularity there by the Chaos Dwarf expansion to Warhammer TW 3) into AoS instead, thus putting it in the wrong game for those that originally have would wanted to play them whilst providing little reason for native AoS players to show any interest.
I will never understand why people like beasts of chaos
>>97536313I was never their biggest fan either but the whole 'thing in the woods' shtick does have a certain appeal. I also think their fluff about being the true children of chaos whom the gods don't give a shit about to be pretty fun, and I liked the aos continuation of that idea. That being said they were always fairly unpopular, in both aos and whfb. They seem to have had a bit of a renaissance in tow though, wonder why all of a sudden. Good for them.
>>97536313They have longstanding lore in warhammer + they were very fun to play in 3e.
>>97536313Mythological monsters are cool, but you could have probably just threw them into other factions
>>97534823>Wight Queen could be interesting if they gave her overly feminine armorSo the same armor Nagash is wearing?
>>97536313Me neither. If they had some diversity in the form of wolf, lion and tiger beastmen they could be interesting. But as they are, just goatmen and fauns they look like a diablo mob ripoff.

I know a lot of releases for sbgl were probably recycled cc dlc but surely the generic lord would've been separate, it's got a totally different design language. Also reminds me I forgot about a bunch of female underworlds models like camilla.
>>97536450>Didn't that end up being a release without models snd stuff?Yes, becayse due to a delay they released all the models with Soulblight.
>>97536450>but surely the generic lord would've been separate, it's got a totally different design language.Bat hair bitch is in the key art for post-Radukar ulfenkarn
Sprue for the lumineth regent for those interested. The guy that does these said the arms fit into the shoulder pads in specific ways, so unless you're fine with some cutting (which shouldn't be too hard tbf) you can't mix and match the arms, so the shield and that specific sword are tied to each other, and so are the helmet and the other sword. Annoying, but again, looks like a fairly easy fix if you can cut a little.

>>97538601>modern gw art always having to 1 to 1 represent tabletop models is utterly soullessNot a think anymore. They tried to push it much in 2015-2017 so you have art with the same dude copy-pasted.
>>97538641Yeah. Some artists get a little liberty. But I also think it comes down to time constraints. Like the IDK tome art clearly shows the artist only had the promo shot of the Ikon to work with for reference. At any other angle but the promo shot his pose looks so much better.

>>97539171hell yeah, sounds like an awesome game. i played the same mission with a buddy before but we both played spammy chaos cults so it devolved in to the most convoluted slaughter you could think of. Tarantulos brood is very fun to play.
>>97539073why would someone want to make a game about aos?it's not a rhetorical question what exclusive things does it offer? what notoriety does it have compared to fantasy and 40k? the makers of realm of ruin went for it because they were hoping to ride the wave of hype of total warhammerthe makers of the underworld game had a perfectly functional game with the warhammer title to simply copy in digital formthe makers of stormground embraced the setting likely for the freedom it gave them in map design, and because the 40k ip for a turn based game was already taken by mechanicus
>>97539211I think there are only 2 real game ideas that play on the setting: a bigger scale 4x than TWW that actually allows you to conquer or affect whole realms with magic, etc. Or a soulsborne where you're a reincarnating Stormcast.Actually, there is a third. Factorio in the realm of Nagash.
>>97539211>what notoriety does it have compared to fantasy and 40k?It has the notoriety of being the retarded setting that replaced WHF which people liked even if it was derivative
Hypothetically, how would you guys feel if aos switched to an alternating activation system, maybe something like mesbg. Let's say 5th or 6th switched to such a system, would you enjoy it?Some grogs started playing mesbg at my lgs and I gotta say it seems like a good ruleset, and I've heard a lot of good things online, so I was wondering about it.
>>97539073The only reason to watch sopranos is to see Tony and his crew be idiots. Genuinely, the lot of them are awful, awful people, with not a hint of charisma behind them.
>>97538743It wasn't a rule for AoS, that's just speculation. 1e had art for an Ardboy Boss on Wyvern fighting Archaon, Ardboy Bosses on Wyverns fighting Blades of Khorne, and Bonesplitterz shamans on Wyverns fighting Fyreslayers.AoS just had little structure to offer artists I'm guessing so you presumably encountered situations where an artist asks how such and such looks in AoS and GW could only respond with "We don't know yet, but we made this model". Look at this, from the Realmgate Wars. You can understand how an artists might think "Oh, I guess Megabosses ritualistically prove themselves worthy by killing this one monster and hang it on their shoulder" so you have them all drawn the same way, because all they had for advice was pictures of the model. GW have admitted SCE models were made before anything else was fleshed out about them.AoS basically didn't have a setting at launch and it was so rushed the booklet in the launch box is full of nonsense like Malerion as a Chaos God or Steamhead Duardin. People just made shit up based on presumptions from zero exposure to the actual art of AoS.
>>97539269Game needs to be radically changed for it. I’d sooner see it in a more skirmish format.
>>97539280>not a hint of charismaThis is just flat wrong and you're probably an autistic retard who doesnt know what charisma is

>>97539252>soulsbourne stormcastNO. AND I AM TIRED OF THIS SLOP.
>>97539298Go ahead. Prove me wrong.
>>97539321I don’t think Soulsborne for SCE would work but reskinning Hades could.
>>97539252>AOS fourecksCould be cool, though I think something lower to the ground would better give people a flavor of the realms->Or a soulsborneNever mind, let's go back to the fourecks, soulsborne is mega gay.
>>97539269aos and 40k pose a big obstacle to alternated activations that most other games that use that system simply don't have to face as much: it has single entities that might as well represent half of the points of an army.how do you balance it when your opponent hits you with the entirety of its own 2000pts of troops before you have had the chance to activate half of yours?this is not to say that there aren't ways to address it, but you need a whole extra layer of number crunching or stats balance to do so while the current system is already adjusted for the first turn/alpha strike/double turn situations, in part at least.
>>97539355>Could be cool, though I think something lower to the ground would better give people a flavor of the realms-I think the distinctive part of the AoS setting is being way higher scale though.
>>97539211>what exclusive things does it offer? what notoriety does it have compared to fantasy and 40k?high fantasy hack and slash with gotrekhe is very well known, having such a game in fantasy would only be a hindrance to the amount and type of stuff you can throw at him, and 40k already has its titus so you can't make another theregamers at large have also grown very fond of dwarfs
>>97539291>AoS just had little structure to offer artists I'm guessing so you presumably encountered situations where an artist asks how such and such looks in AoS and GW could only respond with "We don't know yet, but we made this model".Yeah I have no doubt a lot of early art was just gw saying here's a model, draw some shit around it. Pre-ghb aos was such a mess, it had to be rushed right? I wonder why, I mean, first impressions and all that. You're killing off your 30 year old setting that you started with, I figure you'd want the launch of its replacement to go as smoothly as possible. Small miracle aos survived those first few months honestly.>>97539321I mean stormies are basically soulsborne protagonists already, with the notable exception that they're all already heroes instead of literally who's that just happen to be good at dying. I think they'd be an alright protaginst but I think hypothetically I'd still prefer a normal human. More options yknow.
>>97539386>gamers at large have also grown very fond of dwarfsHave they? I guess you could do some fun VA work with them. Speaking of something like sunless skies could be cool for khadrons.
>>97539211At the current situation I think what we need is a good story. AoS need a story to anchor it to the masses.Make an RPG ala Pillars of Eternity; Story heavy, lots of lore if you wish, gradual worldbuilding and a rag tag group of characters to get attached to and understand their role in the universe, as well as interesting villains. The wonderous, weird and vast worlds of AoS would do well in an isometric rpg, make pre renedered backgrounds as well, really make the world feel like a painting.
i think an AoS game similar to Conquerer's blade could be neat.
>>97539356Mhm, doesn't mesbg also have the war elephants and shit? I don't suppose we happen to have an anon in here who could tell us how it's handled there?
>>97539269It would be a better game, full stop. Needs to fucking happen already.>>97539356Are you actually retarded. What you are describing already happens in IGOYOUGO AoS/40k, the double turn makes it even worse in AoS. There is a reason literally NO OTHER game does a double turn mechanic like AoS- it's an extremely shot mechanic. People play AoS despite the double, never because of it.
>>97539371You're right, of course, but I think the media we've got does a good job of depicting the cyclopean scope of the setting. Less accessible to people who don't read novels (ie: vidya fans) is an idea of what it's like to exist in these places as an individual, to hoof it around these fantastical structures on foot. That can add a lot, I think.>>97539422Deep Rock Galactic was the big meme game for a while there (some say it directly inspired GW to relaunch the Squats) and all zoomers love dwarves due to Diggy Diggy Hole.
>/vg/ fags flooding againFuck off
>>97539427I think a roguelike game like risk of rain but with AoS aesthetics would be neat.
>>97539439They never really leave, and it's a nice change to have vidya fags discussing what might make a good AoS game rather than just shrieking about how TOW is goated with the sauce because vermintide and TWW.
>>97539439Every ~4 months or so someone will bring up the topic of aos vidya and the next 50 replies will all be anons listing off their hyperspecific aos vidya ideas they'd like to buy, or whatever soulsborne idea they think would be popular. It's like when a rare storm breaks loose on the desert and for a few days there's actually enough water to support a bunch of plants. You get an explosion of ephemeral green that will slowly quiet down until the rain inevitably passes again in a few years. So yeah anyway uhh I think a kharadron city builder game could be pretty cool.
>>97539433MESBG is sort of a half assed alternative activation that does it good enough but isn't great, especially not for the amount of models people seem to insist on playing the game with A huge issue with the shit IGOYOUGO of current 40k/AoS isn't just that your entire army gets to shoot, and possibly fight in 40k, before your opponent gets to react, it's the movement advantage as well. One side gets to manual ever their entire force with minimal, or no, interaction from the opponent. Same with declaring charges. AoS makes it even worse since the double turn means you could potentially move your entire army twice before the opponent gets to do anything. One side can out themselves in an overwhelmingly strong position controlling the board before you even consider them potentially shooting twice (without meaningful reaction) or charging in twice (to pick and choose their best fights, ideally with an odd number of units so you get to attack with advantage twice while the opponent only get s at most one combat where he gets to dictate). It is only very recently that AoS made half assed attempts to give the non active player some sort of response (counter charge, give them hell, redeploy) and some, like redeploy, are extremely shit. As for 'needing all these stats and extra rules,' for one that's retarded, OPR has been doing it for years and it has far less rules than AoS, and frankly they are constantly re writing tome and faction abilities every fucking edition, they can do it for a the purpose of making a less shit system for once
Anyone noticed Death Megagargant is specifically Nighthaunt theamed and his corpse eater thing doesn't realy make sens in other 3, because unlike ghosts, everyone else does care about corpses and shouldn't leave them behind
>>97539486Based nitpicker. Actually, do fec care about corpses, beyond the opportunity to loot and eat them themselves I guess? The knights and above are still technically vampires, do they raise the dead from time to time?
Is the Skaven Spearhead in the starter any good? It's got three heroes, which seems a bit unbalanced
>>97539506>do fec care about corpsesThey eat them>o they raise the dead from time to time?i think zombie dragons (the wyvern ones) are raised by them
>>97539486And Chaos Megagargant has a Khorne symbol on him in his default build, with no option for other gods in the kit
>>97539541>>97539486Conclusion: mega gargants are big dumb retards that eat anything and wear anything they can get their hands on, and you're unlikely to be able to tell them otherwise so just ignore the minor things so long as they focus their tard rage on the enemy.
>>97539073The people that like AoS like actual AoS, secondaries despise it and they're the main market for videogames

>>97539811I'm not saying it confuses people. I'm saying theyre a retarded part of lore thats made up of an extremely high amount of other retarded bits
>>97539824It's literally the nine realms of Nordic myth recast as the winds of magic that have been established in WHFB.I don't get what's so hard or why this is any more retarded than the various planes for DnD, the various planes for fucking MtG, super not!Earth of WHFB, or the retarded world in ASOIAF. The only truly retarded concept for AoS is how they try to overemphasis the size of the realms, then have every person of note in the lore only interact in the extremely tiny pieces of the realms that make a map for. They have made certain ones (Ahqsy, and Shyish in particular) too fucking big. They should just retcon the realms into the sizes of the existing maps
>>97539850>"its literally the--"I do not give a single fuck its still stupid.

>>97539881>Are they planets?in practice, yes, just flat ones>Are they infinite no
>>97539881They're infinite until one writer decides that they're not, then the next one comes around and they're infinite again. The realms have no structure and barely have a sense of history other than Aqshy. They're meant to be planets in practice like in 40k so that GW has an infinite playground to put shit in. Its why the setting is so boring, despite on paper being very high fantasy.
>>97539908they've only been described as infinite once early on in a white dwarf and then never again, and every time since then they've been said to be big but not infinite.
>>97539908>>97539883
>>97539919"They're not infinite but they're so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so big!"
>>97539928in the same way your womb is.
>>97539269MESBG is probably the best ruleset GW offers. That ruleset only exists because of the whole picture of MESBG. The core rules are largely the same as they were 20 years ago. With tweaks being very restrained and more limited to army comp and points/profiles over core rules. They made an amazing solid game. And then largely left it alone for decades. This could never happen in 40k or AoS because the bean counters demand new editions every 3 years. Which in turn means the writers have to change certain things for the sake of change and justifying the new edition. In a lot of cases this breaks a lot of things that were running well prior. This isn’t a problem in MESBG. I also recently got into MESBG and my only regret is that I didnt do it sooner. Also idk why all the hate for metal minis, I didn’t notice anything shitty about working with metal. But I did wash them as google suggested.

>>97539881https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/fqn1aa5l/warhammer-age-of-sigmar-what-exactly-are-the-mortal-realms-and-who-lives-in-them/>>97539919>they've only been described as infinite once early on in a white dwarf and then never againWell I wanted to argue with you at first but I stand corrected.>“The eight realms aren’t infinite in size, and the many maps you see tend to focus on the settled areas of the realms, like the Great Parch in Aqshy, a massive area which represents perhaps a twentieth of the full realm,” explains Phil, the Head Loremaster of the Mortal Realms. “If you set out from the centre to the realm's edge and spent your whole life walking, you’d reach a point where you could go no further, near the Perimeter Inimical, where magic runs wild and rampant.
>>97540314>Let's not pretend like GW was doing much to helpI am not, I simply point out that legendary mismanagement of their own games is nothing to be surprised about when we talk about GW. Remember how they botched the Aeronautica release to the point where it killed the game? Adeptus Titanicus had awful launch as well but the game was so good GW eventually soft-relaunched it.
>>97540271True line of sight is so fucking bad
>>97540341The Cursed City bungle was truly cursed
>>97539211A Heretic/Hexan like would be more suited to AoS than Fantasy
>>97539655i don't thin gargant could become VampiresDoes AoS even have examples of non-humans becoming Soulblight?
>>97539666He's showing up in an AoS game this year anon
>>97539850it's more like Planescape than it is Nordic myth ince all the realms are pretty weird and esoteric wereas Norse myth just has realms which are the land of the giants, or the land of elves or the land of the dwarves ect.
>>97540292Uh no. LOTR at that point was outselling 40k and Fantasy. As numerous people working at GW said, LOTR saved them from insolvency. I hate when you zoomer retards start making shit up about a history you didn’t live through.
>>97540406You think the realms are esoteric? Do you know what esoteric means?
Aren't the Mortal Realms not floating fuckisles with magical zanyspots anymore and just like normal lands that then become fuckisles now? Like you can walk through most of mapped Aqshy and go "wow this is kinda like the world that was"
>>97539618>I would fuck the monster that is blatantly sexualized at its coreYour bloodline would be ashamed. I'd plow the ever-loving bones out of a Gorger Cave Howler and thank her for the experience.
Any sites to help run path to glory campaigns and track rosters? I know 40k has good ones for crusade
hello looking for a scan for the helsmiths of hashut book
So humans worship elven gods, do humans also worship dwarf gods in Aos?
>>97541564Yes.
>>97539864> Euros lust for American dickWhy are they like this?
>>97539472there already is a steampunk flying citybuilder, but I forget the name of it. not dwarf themed at all, but still 80% the way there. >>97539211 See below>anons listing off their hyperspecific aos vidya ideas they'd like to buy, or whatever soulsborne idea they think would be popularI don't think it would even do that well because stormcast aren't as popular as GW wants them to be but Stormcast are literally perfect for a dark souls style game. In-lore reason for infinite respawn, you can have a system where you go "hollow" ie: losing your identity and memory, and you can have whatever wacky powers you want because they're super soldiers blessed by a lightning god. You coud even have the required Miyazaki Swamp™, where you would fight kruelboyz and their monsters. AoS is possibly the best setting to make into a soulslike and GW is squandering the opportunity to make consolized rts games instead. tragic.
>>97539073I would be so happy if owlcat never made an AoS game. Nothing but awful games with rules for turbo autists and dogshit writing for people that don't play rpg's.
>>97541974GW will whore out it's license for just about any video game idea someone bothers to pitch them. Look at all their garbage phone games. No studio wants to try to make your souls like with AoS, even though it seems like the tech and coding to do so has probably been done so many times they would just need to make art assets and that's it (and they could probably just steal them from the studio that made the shit RTS
Umbraneth bros...it's over
>>97541974although a souls like would be good i dont think aos has the main stream appeal for them to want to invest the time it takes to make a decent soulslike. IMO a game similar to baldurs gate or more specifically planescape torment would be PERFECT i reckon. travel the realms, solve puzzles, turn based combat, weird unique environments, explore dungeons likened to darkwater, a unique party of diverse races itd be fkn steller
>>97542205doesn't this... super confirm Umbraneth? Most of the current DoK line are just the witches of delves sauced up. Shove all the blood cauldrons and khaine stuff into ToW, keep the snakes and bats, make shadow elves in AOS, happy.
>>97542205dw, TOWdlers can have the utterly embarrassing dino riding clown elves
>>97538601that's what astral templars look like, they're recruited from barbarians.
>>97539073Owlcat not making a game for AoS is a win tbhon. Have you seen their shit?
>>97542205I thought GW said Legacy factions will never come back? What changed?
>>97539334the original lords of the fallen basically is that.
>>97542502>What changed?ToW is bleeding money like an old man on aspirin with a sliced artery bleeds bloods. They need to bring back as much of the old shit as possible to get to ToWdler whales to buy more.
>>97542502dark elves have been hinted as coming back in some old world rule books, but i think dok are different enough from old dark elves for them to come back maybe
>>97539211Warcry as a Xcomlike where you play as a Chaos warband exploring the eightpoints and currying favor with the chaos gods in a bid to get Archaon's blessing and fight by his side in his assault on Sigmar's realm. It starts off with fighting other lesser warbands as well as Order warbands who seek treasures then ramps up to more organized and well equipped chaos cults and warriors of Sigmar sent to hunt your warband down. The Dark Gods' Favor mechanic not only affects your teams' buffs but also alters how they look and what exclusive gear they can get. For instance if you go all in on a certain god you get locked out of the other gods but your dudes start looking like Khornate cultists with the unique upgrades exclusive to him, or you can double or even triple dip to become unique warbands, like a Slaanesh-Tzeentch band would become something like the Cypher Lords, or a Khorne-Nurgle warband looks something like Iron Golems, hardy warriors who feel nothing even as they tear people's heads off.The Great Horned Rat is also there
>>97542510Seems like a no brainer. Once they refresh the witch aelf kit the whole range is free for TOW. And I assume the new witch elves will have all sexuality stripped.
>>97542540>And I assume the new witch elves will have all sexuality stripped.hard to say
>>97542540they would have to redo the witch elves and the cauldron, that's not just 2 kits, that's essentially half the units of that microfactionit's far more likely that tow uses the older metal versions or they become yet another exception in the weird split like dryads and chaos chariots
>>97542595Isn’t that literally two kits?
>>97542595The metal witch elves are very umm…interesting?
>>97542540>>97542595I was going to say, they'll probably bring back the the older witch elves first. All of the cos dark elves nobody gives a shit about but DoK is another story and I don't think it's likely they get new witch elves this edition. It'll be like how they brought back the older night goblins for tow.>>97542608Yeah but the shrine builds like 5 different units.
>>97542205RIP my Darkling Covens niggas. Interesting what will happen to witch elves. I doubt DoK players care about anything else from the range, but right now witch elves are way more central to DoK identity and playstyle than DE in TOW’s.
>>97542608half the units
>>97542502I think anyone reasonable would admit TOW has been a fair success, especially including Cathay. The ability to not have to design new products must be a huge benefit too.
>>97542625They weren't released like that
>>97542659very embarrassing take anon
>>97542502Everything points to gw thinking tow would be an absolute wet fart on release, that's why for example their big launch boxes only includes like one new unit each. They were very wary of comitting resources to it. Like >>97542659 said, not having to design any new kits means you skip like 90% of the costs of producing minis. Turns out tow actually did well, to the point they could actually experiment with new units, and new factions like cathay. Helps that with the latter they basically already did most of the design work for total war, so it was "just" a matter of translating that into miniatures and making the moulds. Anyway, back to legacy. Tow not being a wet fart means they're allowed to expand operations by gw, and probably the easiest way to make more money for minimal investment is to once again start selling older kits. The problem is that for legacy factions a lot of those are locked in aos, but they've been steadily replacing those for a while, and in the case of dark elves nobody in aos cares about the non-dok part of the range. I expect dark elves and either ogres or vampire counts to return first, those seem like the easiest to do (once mawtribes get their update). Tldr it just kind of makes sense financially
>>97542652True, but like some other guy here said. I also think they will be treated like Dryads currently are (they exist in both systems flaunting the rules). Before the last FAQ you could say that maybe GW kinda just threw them in to appease people and will ignore them down the line, but they actually buffed Dryads in the latest balance pass so who knows.
>>97542658Damn I never stopped to think about just how small dok actually are. I'm sorry to say it but they definitely are getting souped with malerion's lads aren't they?>>97542686There's a couple of minis that are even sold for both systems right? The chaos lord with the fat spear and the chaos chariot come to mind, and I think there was also some greenskin unit maybe.
>>97542695>they definitely are getting souped with malerion's lads aren't they?undoubtedly
>>97542695>The chaos lord with the fat spear and the chaos chariot come to mindYes>also some greenskin unit maybeI don't know about sold for both. But there are multiple AoS branded only kits that are used in the Orc and Goblin army (The squig hoppers and fanatics come to mind). I guess if you think about it there's a decent bit of overlap so GW is extra retarded for trying to keep the systems so separate.
>>97542695>Damn I never stopped to think about just how small dok actually are.Four Underworlds warbands. Four.
>>97542720and not one good original concept worth remembering
>>97542710Oh yeah, I remember something about that, how whfb never had armoured squig hoppers or anything but in tow they have rules, probably because of bounders exsisting in aos.>>97542733I like the first one, it's not original by any stretch but I like every faction having a warband that's just a smattering of normal units. I believe CoS are the only ones without something like that. Oh and I guess sons of behemat? That'd be a cool warband to see. Maybe a model for the left leg, the right arm, etc. Twister: the warband
>>97542510>dark elves have been hinted as coming back in some old world rule bookswere?
>>97541014Here you go:https://gofile.io/d/ez9Uln
New>>97542892
>>97542733The first one was good. The leader was a really cool mode. The second one was very mid. Never been a fan of SoS, also too much pants. The third one was whatever but at least it gave us some alternative sculpts for Shadowstalkers. I especially enjoy the leader, because I don't have to deploy clones when using two units without any converting or kitbashing. The fourth one is probably the ugliest UW warband to exist. The point I made with stating that there were four warbands it's to show that they were pretty supported army, despite being a very small one. We got Morathi book in Broken Realms, Shadow of the Crone book in Dawnbringers. Clearly someone at GW liked and pushed DoK.
>>97542695DoK soup is fine I think. Getting a Morathi snakes playstyle and a Malerion playstyle should be pretty good variety, and two god minis is kinda big. I imagine there will be lists that try running both.
>>97542710I’m worried about Gloomspite desu. Really characterful minis might go.
>>97542658Keep the highlighted half in AoS, replace all instances of blood with shadows and then add four kits (one battleline, one cavalry, one war machine, one character)
