All this "special announcement" demonstrated is that WotC won't do something if it causes even a little controversy... unless it's about them printing more cards.
>>97529663Yes, both directly and indirectly. They said there wasn't going to be *any* ban/unbans for at least the year, and then made an announcement saying "an update is coming with the next ban announcement". And they also teased the hybrid mana change that was coming in this announcement. The community was correct in expecting something big
>>97530029Hybrid change was a good change, and crybaby faggots should have been told to just get over it.
>>97530040Just make a new format because that is the same thing
How do cleric decks win? They seem like an interesting tribal for orzhov colors but I have no idea how they actually close a game aside from slowly pinging people with sacing creatures? Do they just rely on pillowfort enchantments to deal with large creatures?

>>97530127Given its price I wouldn't call it unplayable. Obviously people are making it work or it would be pennies
>>97530110That's why I added "unless it's about them printing more cards".People are pissed about 7 sets a year with 4 being UB in Standard. But they spout cope on how there's a billion people that like it yet don't answer surveys or engage with the community. However when 63% of the playerbase supports or is indifferent to a rule proposal, they drop the idea entirely. When there's even a little pushback over banning what is indisputably the most powerful and most degenerate card in the format, they drop it entirely. But UB? No we HAVE to keep printing it in every format. It HAS to be 50% of the sets every year. We HAVE to make 6 sets a year to make space for UB. Think of the people that never engage with any format! They would be heartbroken to find out the cards they're allegedly playing on kitchen table aren't legal in Standard!
>>97530135I have told you before this isn't about capitalism it's about Dodge v. Ford Motor Company (1919)Over half of US companies are registered in the state where the decision was made. It found that companies have a fiduciary duty to make profits for shareholders above all else.Without that ruling, companies would be free to make choices that benefit their workers and the consumer. But its mere existence and the fact it applies to 50% of US companies means that every country on Earth is essentially playing by that rule because it's the most effective way to make line go up.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_v._Ford_Motor_Co.

>>97530163>We need to forever be held hostage by "did you play the one?" because some faggot's pet cardNo.
>>97530029>unless it's about them printing more cards. That's precisely it. They want these old cards the RC was scared of off the banlist so they can reprint them again at mythic in a bonus sheet later. It's why the most unlikely unbans are all the RL stuff they can't reprint. What they're doing now is boiling the frog and slowly peeling cards off of the ban list that they (correctly) have assessed as prime candidates for reprints. They'll do it slow to minimize backlash but look how much they've taken off in the short time they've had control of the format. I have to hand it to them creating a pseudo ban list they can use to just mark powerful cards was a master stroke, it gives them total reign to unban anything with minimal bitching as long as they mark it as a GC.
>>97530177Where did I say that? It's just cringe to be like>muh capitalism!!!!!when there is definitive proof of companies not operating to maximise profits at the expense of quality. Ford is perhaps one of the greatest capitalist icons of all fucking time and he got diddled in court and now every company has to squeeze every fucking penny out of their product or they can get sued for breach of a fiduciary duty which is one of the most stringent and serious duties in law.

Farewell being a Game Changer is probably the most important part of this announcement.Lutri is fun but middling and Biorhythm will see about as much play as Worldfire. However, Farewell is ubiquitous in Bracket 3 where there is a limit with the amount of GC's. I'm glad I'll probably see more Tragic Arrogance or other wipes.
>>97530379I DESERVE to windmill farewell on curve in bracket 2.

Quite fun, I do enjoy it, but certainly not my whole life.
>>97530379Correct assessment. Farewell has never been anything but a night ruining card when I've seen it cast in bracket 2. The table almost always gives it the same reaction as other dick move cards with play patterns that are restricted to GCs and stuff like MLD. It's such an outlier of a card that taking it away from the retards who full send it on all modes is nothing but a good thing. Taking away Teferi's Protection as one of the few ways to save yourself from an all-modes Farewell really necessitated the move up. There's still Clever Concealment and Guardian of Faith but getting rid of Farewell makes those less necessary as answers for that specific board wipe and more interesting as synergy protection pieces. And for me it's Promise of Loyalty and Avatar's Wrath. But Tragic Arrogance is fun too.

I kind of dislike the play pattern of her loot trigger on every spell and I know I'd need to lower the rocks by a lot and raise the amount of rituals to make her viable in the deck. Just letting you know this is where I'd take the deck if I planned to bring it up to B3. In B2 I really enjoy slapping down big mana rocks and fiddling with tokens until Tellah explodes.

The main reason I actually don’t think it’s related is that they’ve seemed to be avoiding releasing UB sets right next to real sets that are in the same space.
>>97530859Color identity rule always existed. It just didnt used to count the text boxes, only casting cost. You also never actually had to play the dragons, thats never been a thing. Yes it was named after them, no not everyone was expected to play them.
>>97532171Also the only reason it changed and was made that way was because no legendaries before Bosh and Memnarch had pips in their text box that werent part of their casting cost, it was an unnecessary distinction.

>>97532290Dumbledore would be a wizard Sisay who can "tutor" any wizard and would probably have some kind of Sorcery synergy.
>>97532556no, pushing mono colour cards as a wholeit would be hard to give all 5 colours mono-color cards that are all equal in strength and quantity all in one set unless they do something like thatimagine a revisit to alara, 5 sets split across the entire year.each set focus on one colour with 4 2-colour groups each supporting the main colour in some way.
>>97532290it would be supremely silly if they bent themselves into all kinds of twists to justify slytherin having a green color identity
>>97530667What do you currently have?
>>97532527This would've been my favorite commander ever if it had "X damage to each player/opponent" instead of target creature. I just wanna storm off in a random/nondeterministic way just for the sake of slinging off all these random ass spells
>>97532518There is an easy way to push monocolour without ruining the game:Hypothetical Card4USorceryReturn up to two nonland permanents to their owners hand. Draw a card.Myopic Lens: If five blue mana was spent to cast this spell, you may play this card as an instant. When this spell is cast fufilling these conditons, make a 0/1 elemental creature token with "whenever a player draws a card, put a +1/+1 counter on this creature". Then if this spell resolves each player discards their hand and draws cards equal to the greatest amount of cards any one player discarded.Every colour could get cards like that. You can still play them in draft. And they would actually give you some incentive to play monocolour.

>>97532751Technically don't have one, but I did build Destined Black Mage. >>97532780>Treasures are a mistakeI have been saying this for YEARS, now. They were (mostly) fine when first introduced, but now so many things just fucking shit out dozens of treasures nonstop so now everyone gets like an infinite amount of pic rel. I still laugh at how Lotus Petal used to be so expensive and sought after, only to be completely fucking deprecated by tokens
>>97529899TQ
>>97532797Very EDHbrained post. Very few cards make more treasures than their cost on the same turn, and even fewer do so at a point in the game where it matters.>But you can save them for later! Then they're ramp, not a ritual, which is what makes Lotus Petal good.
>>97532713Besides what anon said about treasures, the formatting is wrong too. Spells are declared cast, then mana is paid. You can't change the timing restrictions of when a spell is cast based on what you use to pay for it because you can't pay for it until you honor those timing restrictions! Also that small novel of text itself is retarded and is redundant. "Then, if this spell resolves?" My nigga that can preface 90% of instant/sorcery card text with "then" in it...>Scry 2, then, if this spell resolves, draw a card...Because you're never going to be checking if a spell resolves mid-resolution!
>>97532783>[laughs in papa]Potentially. I run that deck, and let me tell you, I am burning the entire table to death by t5 every game.
>>97532854Eh, one part was the cast trigger (the boy as a result of the mana, like an elsrazi) and I wanted the second part if the spell resolved. When this spell is cast Scry 2 (lime break) draw a card is much better than both effects on resolution. But I didnt think about it a lot if I'm being honest.

>>97533209Heavy pip costs don't work outside EDH because cards can't cost more than 2 mana now unless they're winning the game.

>>97533624This was the thing that really drives home how astroturfed the set was by the 1/1 Ring and the modern collectables gold rush. Final Fantasy fans were ecstatic as reveals were coming out and are almost entirely happy with the product. The couple of people I know who were big into Avatar also seem happy with their set outside of the ugly looking screenshot bonus sheet. The only controversies around those sets were power level related. Not a thumb in the eye of people who were supposed to be the main audience of the set.

>>97533692Well yes I am extremely racist but that doesn't have much to do with my assessment. The characters they were presenting as fanservice for long time fans weren't the characters people expected or wanted. These types of fanservice sets where the goal is showing an appreciation for beloved properties only work when they're not attempting to be subversive at the same time. If Star Trek came out and Benjamin Sisko was presented on his card as a Chinese woman that would be a problem. Oh neat, you got me. I thought Sisko was going to look the way he was supposed to look but my expectations were given a twisteroo and I'm supposed to accept it because I might hurt the Chinese playerbase's feelings.

>>97534090Voltron is kind of boring because the playstyle necessitates that you focus down one player at a time and that usually means you knock out one player then get stopped by the other two so there's now two players twiddling their thumbs waiting for the game to end.

People didn't slurp up FF solely because of memberries, if that was the case sets like midnight hunt and lorwyn eclipsed would've been record breakers too. >>97535227>too limp wristed to actually enforce their rule zero ban on jewlotus once it releases, most likely because people wont take him seriously once wotc frees enough toysRule zero people talk tough but there's a reason they only play in a closed circle away from the greater public
>>97535238Correct and i wish more people thought the same instead of casting armageddon with no followup whatsoever
>>97535220>mass forced landfall with Tunnel IgnusFucking love it already don't even have to read the rest of the post. FUCK greedy assholes that run all nonbasics pic fucking related
>>97535193Anon, you responded to an 18 hour old post of a dude namedropping philosophers in response to you shitposting. What are you doing here bud?
>>97535264>bro you can't respond to older postsIt's 2026 and 4chan has gotten much slower and lost a significant amount of users. You'll have to get used to people replying to old posts like they did on message boards.
>>97534114There is a solution to that.
>>97535317That's what you got out of my post? Surely you could have thought of a better comeback in all that time. And you're obviously old enough to know better.
>>97535338NTA so your argument means nothing. Your attack was just weak.
Will of Ronald Reagan1RWUExile all walls and defenders, create a junk token for each permanent exiled this way. If you haven't started your 1st turn yet, and a player has played 3 cards or more cards since the game started, you may reveal this card. All players who have played 3 or more cards lose the game, they do not get priority while this is on the stack.
>>97535233>JewLo>t1 niv mizzet curiosityWhat? How?Niv is 6 mana, JewLo only gets you half way there. Even with Lotus Petal, Sol Ring and Land I'm not seeing the line because Niv doesn't have haste. That would basically have to be a god hand.
>>97535351Attack? I think you are having some issues with reading comprehension here. My post was asking what you're doing here replying to 18 hour old posts with something that lame. You said yadda yadda forums. Then I reiterated that you should have thought of a better comeback because you are old as shit and had ample time. This level of banter wouldnt pass in the special olympics, particularly if you're trying to insight some dude, given the context you provided 18 hours ago where you dont play magic and come here just to shitpost.Like... say something amusing? Entertain me if you're going to percolate that long.
>>97535374??? it is incredibly trivial to do that
>>97535374>land>jewled lotus>lotus petal>mana crypt>jeska's will>niv>curiosity
Give me your most out there ban that you want.I'll startRoaming Throne
>>97535394everything that mentions "outside the game"
>>97535394There will be no bans from here on out in edh, only unbansThose collector boosters need all the hype they can get
>>97535394That'd be mine, actually.
>>97535401Irrelevant to the question
>>97534114Retard-kun...
>>97535394Every card with the word "Balls" in the name or text box
>>97535394I'd say ban every single commander that draws you cards.
>>97535394Bojuka Bogsincerely, a Jund and Golgari chad
>>97535418I've got BALLS of STEEL
>>97535499Damn. Two free soul hearts.
>>97535264>>97535193I like simplicity.
>>97535394Force of Will, easily. I think free stack interaction spells should be conditional like Force of Negation, need board presence like Fierce Guardianship, or a much steeper cost like Foil.>b-b-but you need to discard a blue card and it's 5 mana.No one casts it for 5 mana, and the high cmc is actually useful for cards that look at cmc like Yshtola. And the blue player's hand is always fuckin full of cards to pitch.
>>97535418>>97535499BLOW IT OUT YOUR ASS
>UBs that could actually be good
>>97535487Actually the most based take.
>Play the Auntie Ool precon>Realize there's no real fucking win con it in beside durdling and hoping no one is running a life gain deck so you can slowly ping them to death.I forgot how bad feels playing precons were
>>97535657>Funnybot>flopOh my god this is one of my favorites fuck the masses
The most annoying guy at your LGS posts stuff like this online and thinks it's actually true.
>>97535746they're usually too busy posting shit like this
>>97535746>It would be a net negativeNo it wouldn't. It would still sell gangbusters. Maybe even more than LOTR did, but not FF. Guess what, race swaps are in fact racist, and if you are going to accept that, then you don't get to complain because they partnered with an IP holder who makes tweets you don't like.
>>97535746I don't care.
>>97535746Hasbro will force wotc's hand and the ACKening will be glorious
>Fair warning. Don't attack me. I have sunforger out>Retard attacks me anyway and gets settled the wreckage on this entire board>That's bullshit!>This is like the 5th time I've played against this person with this deckStop thinking I'm bluffing dude.
how do I stop adding red to my brews? I feel like I have fucking tunnel vision
>>97535389It's not it depends on exactly the right cards>>97535391Honestly deserve to lose to that shit, that's like opening with Exodia
>>97535848You asked this exact question last thread >>97528538
>>97535394Ban every card from a set or release that was specifically designed for Commander.
>>97535950And only one nerd answered him
>>97534827>You can just have creatures on the board anonThat's not gonna save you. You'll be at 1-3 life. Literally anything can kill you from there.Dying because you had 0 creatures is not a real problem. What's a problem is being reduced from 37 life to 2 life instantly.
>>97535848>The starter pistol is not loaded with blanks. I point at the crowd. Several racers do the same.these are some fun deck names.
