TTS is the easiest way; it's free, but lacks Gambler's Chest, and later expansions (maybe not completely but they're not as easy to find).
The Simulator is the next "cheapest" option, and directly supports KD:M, but it's very much early alpha, clunky compared to TTS, and often buggy. It does, however have the Gambler's Chest and the latest expansions.

So, do you y'all feel the need to use the tier 3 monster armors to hunt lvl3 monsters? Because I've noticed there's a bit gap of most weapons topping out at 7-11 or sharp with str 4-6, while level 3s are T14-17, which results in a frustrating amount of weapons that are wounding on a hitting and wounding on a 6 or 7+ if not just straight relying on crits, which in turn drags out fights when they're most dangerous. It's most obvious because I'm trying out CE in an otherwise mostly vanilla campaign (+DBK) and it feels like I'm really missing that +7 STR bonus

I've yet to face a lvl 3 monster. I started playing the game on TTS by myself a couple of years ago but since I have a few gaming groups up, I've decided to forego my single player games so that I can face the new stuff with my friends.

None, Rawhide and leather are the best armors in the game for how cheap they are, if you're building monster armor it's because it supports some gimmick or weapon type you want to play with not because it's efficient, the most efficient play is just 1x raw hide 2x leather 1x lantern, 3 Beacon shields for the latter.

Gear is often shit though and its very hard to strike that balance between what looks cool and what is optimal, particularly when literal PCs are a resource. This is what I'm doing in my own game desu. Instead of each monster having a bespoke hunt deck or departing to hunt a specific monster, each biome has a map with its own event deck, which includes generic events, biome specific events, and each therion's (monsters) event decks. As the team of hunters explores the map, they draw from the event deck and look for monster traces, with events giving either a specific one (from monster or biome events) or one of a player's choice (some generic events). The player can keep hunting until they get 3 of a monster's traces that they want, but there are specific cards in the deck that will trigger an ambush from the monster whose traces they have the most of, forcing them into fighting them with a disadvantage.

Honestly butcher level 3 was surprisingly easy even with me frenzying on turn 2
, he really got fucked over with me drawing tall grass to counter his +2 accuracy tokens and thus still getting my +4 evasion with Phoenix plackart, helm, and rolling armor

playing people of the sun with all the sun stuff. i must say i like using the beta and the finished stuff.
for instance we just made the sunlion armor with the old recipe. the armor set gives no extra armor so it seem fair.
then if we finally find the flower we can upgrade it and get that extra 2 armor from the new set. (we are in year 14 and still have not found that fucking flower so i really think its a good way to do it

yes the game is expensive, is not a TTRPG like dnd its a board game, you need to buy it, it has cards and boards and minis, you can't just get the rules and play, there are scans of the rulebook online but unless you make your own board and cards and minis it will be impossible to play.

And finally our long campaign ends with a settlement wipe. Unfortunately had to sacrifice my best survivor AND my Phoenix armor to level 3 butcher once I realized that I was not strong enough to beat him normally and was having dogshit luck with invincible and trap shuffling so I took the Lantern frenzy copout, tried farming up to Lantern armor by spamming screaming antelope but I was down to 7 survivors, wiped on king man's level 3, and I just called it there. Lessons taken: even with CE the phoenix is just a waste of time and I'm swapping him out for dragon king next campaign, there's no reason to hunt DBK level 3, and just because I can fight watcher LY20 doesn't mean I should.

On the contrary I feel, as far as indomitables for expansions go, one for the DBK would easily pick up a bunch of sales based simply on how highly rated and popular the expansion is.
I think the only *original expansions* that would have him beat are Sunstalker and Dragon King. I'd say Gorm also but he already has a couple of indomitables so theres less of a gap to fill.
I guess they are somewhat cryptic in their descision making though because we have two spidicules indoms, and she is probably one of the more unpopular monsters (though that's in part because of poor gear; maybe you could make the argument indoms counter that a little and so are a good choice for spidicules, but by the level 3 point that seems like too little too late to make sense.)

No, presumably it will be a monster with rules at some point but there's going to be nothing until kickstarter fulfillment. They release the monster sculpts early. The white lion came out as a resin piece before the game came out too.

Nah, I haven't gotten up to doing a Dream Keeper campaign myself, but from what I heard, the King gear is so absurdly powerful that fighting him at level 3 once you've fought his previous power is easy enough with the gear you'd get.

Not that guy, but you COULD use it in conjunction with survivors that have crystal skin. Crystal skin lets you ignore cursed, and the cursed tag is what makes the item get archived when the user dies.

Technically RAW it works but I would never allow that in my game.

The nice/poor thing about lion knight is how it's very easy to get off with just swapping around the villain to a expendable and killing him off early so I can move on with my life, since the lion knight badge isn't very good anyway and I can just wait for level 2 to get my hideous disguise for ageless apprentice

Just got my indomitable Xell, mini's hot but the gear confuses me. When you're hunting monsters with T14-17, a S7 spear that spams low strength hit rolls does not seem like a great idea. I mean, I guess I can see it being used for trap sweeping, but if you don't draw it then you're taking a bunch of potential failure reactions for nothing. This somehow feels worse than the lance of longinus.

What's the real push to fight anything above lvl 1? Its a single extra resource for twice as much exp (less use out of a character). Is it just for clout? I feel like the crushing weight of the lanterns year timer dosnt really allow for much time for exhibition matches.

Was I interested in seeing how bad the size creep was for myself so I got EoD2 and some indomitable survivors. Honestly, the real difference is mostly in the proportions, new heads are way bigger and the hourglass is way more emphasized on females. But in terms of actual height not that much difference, most likely I'll just store them apart so it's harder to compare the details but on the table not any real differences big enough to notice. Hopefully I'll get painting them soon, just need to print a few half naked throwaways to practice my skin on before i try for real.

Man I bought the cards for the 10th anniversary survivors way long ago, and now I want the minis, but God of course this is like the one set that doesn't have everyone snd their mother trying to sell off the minis because they just wanted the game content. Fucking bums me out, lads. Gaming as an established adult sucks and all i want to do is play sysiphus in hell. Game loses alot of its charm when you play solo. Simulators are a great start but just not automated enough to play completely solo for my tastes.

Honestly desu I don't agree, mainly because of the settlement phase. There's some fun with playing vignettes or certain showdowns with a group and having to make a battleplan together, but the fact that the resources are shared during gear crafting and endeavors makes it devolve into either a lot of fighting snd tension because one guy wants a cool weapon but we need a boring set of leather armor more than he needs a dragon slayer, or more likely the one person who owns the game being engaged in making long term decisions while the other players twiddle around on their phone waiting for him to finish his management sim. And even the showdown and hunt has aspects that aren't great fir group play, like the chance for unavoidable insta kills leaving a player sitting out or the need for one support who doesn't make any interesting decisions, just hits the cats eye circlet and Rawhide headband every turn.

As the original poster, we generally jave a very good dynamic with the group

It works out fairly well. Problem is I try to play solo and its 4x the regular amount of work and it just dosnt have the same amount of fun rolling every single event and character with no one to share the burden. A bit more automated on the simulator and id be much happier.

So how is the plastic game board? I kimd of want one but I am pretty sure it wont be worth the price. it's something I'd definitely 3d print but i haven't looked for anything printable yet.

Apparently it can dent your cards if you place them on top of it, so I didn't consider buying it at all. Also you HAVE to paint it or it'll look like shit. What I've seen has been good though when others have painted it.

It looks easy to transport too, unlike the regular board, since you can break it up into 6 easy pieces for storage. It'll also mesh well with the terrain, which I AM getting, whenever the fuck that gets released.

I would say if you're on the fence like this then it's probably not worth it for you. It's entierly unnecessary, but very cool and will get cooler as compatible terrain arrives. (There's an indomitable survivor that has a piece of compatible terrain, which is neat; hopefully they do more)

Honestly, it feels like they are placing them down too heavily on it, or putting something else heavy on top of them, or even just a deck or something. Given how there's a bunch of plastic bits poking up I'd wager it doesn't take much to make it happen, even if it's only bending the sleeves.

I typically like to slap my fighting arts, disorders and even resources onto the table when we gain them, so I don't like the idea of having to avoid a large area of the game table to do this.

Also I remember hearing that it's wierd to roll dice on as well. I'm not sure how that works, maybe the dice get cocked more often?
