Modern competitive yugioh sucks
>>97547455could you make a hypotetical yugioh like game , were every single card could see play in some manner.
>>97547095Eat shit, blackwing faggot.
>>97547095 Go fucking die blackwing cuck
What would you say is currently the best deck focused on going second and OTKing?
>>97547694No, since ygo is an Eastern tcg and Eastern tcgs depend upon powercreep exclusively to move new product. Think about normal monsters. For a while, La Jinn was hot shit. He was shortly after replaced by MechanicalChaser, which was soon replaced by Gemini Elf. For all cards to have a purpose, the overall pool of cards would need to be considerably smaller and the power levels would need to be very carefully balanced. Instead, ygo just squeezes more into the text box, ups the numbers, or creates a new way to get big guys out faster which entirely outclasses the older guys.
>>97547694Is this an AI post? The squiggly lines underneath the words mean that you're spelling things wrong, my dude.
>>97548260As opposed to western tcgs which do what exactly?
>>97548391They make perfectly balanced sets that always sell well because the audience loves to support small indie companies.
>>97548087>>97547912seek help
>>97548232
>>97548892There's only room for one shilled bird archetype on this board.
>>97548391Die after about 2 years :^)Often because the game had all of the fun balanced out of it and they boiled it down to glorified game of compare stats.>>97547694Yes and it would be very easy. You print a single spell card, and no others, called "kill the opponent" and it does 1k damage to the opponent, it's HOPT, and you can play as many copies of it as you want as per the card text or core rules. It's the only card so everyone plays it and it always remains viable. It's HOPT and 1k dmg so games last longer (something modern-yugioh haters love to bring up, so we've fixed that)We could print it at multiple rarities, alt art, etc (something for the collectors, solved that issue)Draft is now viable. (somethiThere won't be as mich skill expression but it will balance the playing field between timmys and pros leading to a positive experience for new players.I expect my check to be in the mail by tomorrow.Serious answer, no. If every card was playable it implies every card is balanced, thus there is no reason play anything except for some sort of subjective external factor like the art. It also means there is no reason to buy anything beyond that subjective desire and the game will likely die from a lack of sales.
bumping this:I wanted to get back into TCG (mostly play MD) but all the locals near my area are fucking dead. The timing for this stuff is either paid tournaments on weekend or casuals at the most ass times ever like tuesday at 2pm. (bruh)Pokemon and One Piece stole almost all of the good slots. Honestly I was thinking of just getting a booster box just to get the dopamine rush. I have a dino deck and I was wondering if Burst Protocol is worth it for GMX. I don't mind buying the singles for what I don't get but honestly I just hate selling cards out of fear of getting ebay scammed. (leafland doesn't have TCGplayer or whatever that site the americans have). Any other sealed product to get?
Where do I go to buy giant cards?
>>97548391Western tcgs suffer from powercreep as well, but less of them have it to the degree that cards printed just a few years prior are entirely invalidated. Powercreepcis inevitable in any game, unbalanced designs will always sneak through, but it's all way more prominent in eastern design tcgs.
>>97549691Have you tried climbing a beanstalk?
>>97547694I don't see why not, yugioh already managed to do it.
>>97549691First, go to ebay and search for "synthetic rope" because that's going to be infinitely cheaper than what they're asking for real ones you get as tournament prizes (often close to $1000) and fake/custom ones are still overpriced (~$200-300).Go to a site like Staples that offers foam board printing. Trust me, you'll appreciate the rigidness at it's size if you don't want to frame it as even cardstock will go limp on itself. If you plan to frame it then why bother with the type of stock, just get it on cheaper poster paper. You'll often see it offered for events like weddings.People have already upscaled a ton of cards and uploaded them to deviantart. You'll need to log into the site to download full res because the people who run the site are fags. This is the best you'll get in res if you don't know how to upscale yourself. Learn some photoediting to scrub any watermarks or run it through an AI tool.Jam that into the printing website and fill as best as possible to the size you want. NOTE: you cant always go to exactly the edge and the site will often ask you if you have bleed accounted for. You don't so slightly oversize the stretching than the regular print area to act as bleed and accept a bit of it will be cropped. Often times a super thin sliver is enough or accept the white edges and cut that off yourself via a straightedge and knife. Some print services will even offer to cut it to size.BONUSOnce you get the card you could look online for someone who will cut vinyl decals, have them cut out the name in a foil vinyl of your color choice like gold and give them a benchmark for a one of the characters in the name so they can scale it correctly. MAKE SURE YOU SPECIFY YOU WANT IT TO BE A TRANSFER DECAL to make application easier.Total cost is gonna be like $100.If this sounds like too much work, you can always solve your problem with money and go with the $300 custom giant card makers.
>>97547694Yes, absolutely you can. The key is to nail down your core gameplay and build interesting side grade mechanics for it. If you somehow find that you have run out of design space, which realistically is incredibly difficult to do, and feel that your next step would require introducing significant power creep, you just close that game project and start a new one with all of your power creep steps you would have taken and balance those around each other. Anybody telling you that the only viable game design is profiteering booster pack design is narrow minded and doesn’t even enjoy games.
>>97549455just you wait I hope you're support is as good as that shit we got
What the general opinion regarding Toon monsters/deck?And is it any good?
>>97551600It is soulful but extremely terrible. Its only chance of redemption is the upcoming set that's supposed to give them 7 new cards, but heaven knows they're all gonna suck anyway.
>>97551600Aesthetically, many people enjoy the art. Sadly this is where the positives end.Mechanically, they're shit and there's no actual reason to play them except as a pet deck. Everything they can do is outclassed by various other archetypes even as they were released because they are building from a bad foundation and have no direction.Something that also reflects poorly on the archetype is that the majority of it's players (read: not the people who exclusively engage with the art) are extremely annoying. If you're thinking about playing them, maybe don't. Buy the few cards you like as display pieces and be happy with that though.
Bought my Zombie deck 5 months ago after years of wanting to get mine.Thoughts? I've played it in Master Duel, but haven´t got the chance to play against real life people.
>>97552218Outdated once the new Call of the Haunted support comes out.
>>97551729>>97552095Damn, that sucks to hear. They are definitely soulful.>If you're thinking about playing them, I'm not, I'm just curious how they fared. My very first deck was essentially picrel, plus a few disjointed cards out of booster packs mixed in.
>>97552327Here's something to consider about Toons. Their last wave of support was in 2020. Their best monster is an inferior version of a card that came out in 2005. It doesn't have a lot of the weaknesses of Toon monsters, but it also lacks the double-attack and has the exact same restrictions as the original when you use his spot removal effect. Their Spell/Traps? Actually fairly decent for what they are, and also considering that they are all extremely easy to search thanks to Toon Table of Contents. Not the greatest, but they'd be passable in other decks.Their monsters? They suck really, really bad.
>>97552252too dpendant on that card, I hate depending on having forced cards on my deck
>>97549455BASED RAIDRAPTORGOD>>97550809I want to see this guy melty when Raidraptor support will be the caliber of Onomats or better lmao
>>97552807you shitty raidniggas powers up my blackwings which when we get the 1 card link and you wont even be able to use it faggit
>>97547455Least Epsteinian Yugioh fan
>>97550809>>97552807Phantom Knights is due for support. There's a pretty good chance at least one of their new cards works with Raidraptors.
>>97553023>melty alreadyKek
>>97553106us blackwings got another in the set and this one god wishing will be good so get mad faggot
>>97553034>There's a pretty good chance at least one of their new cards works with RaidraptorsThere is an extemely high chance for that, considering so many Phantom Knights cards were made to work with Raidraptors.
>>97553132Kek massive cope, no one cares about that shitwings because it's an archetype of the most hated character in Yugioh, Crow fucking Hogan, konami is aware you niggas are starved for any scraps so they will print whatever knowing those 5 shitwings players will sink money maybe lmao.
>>97553147There's also a real chance its Yuya+Yuto shit to go with this.
The truth is, the hatred behind Fiendsmith comes not from the fact that it's a generic powerful engine that is recylcing itself, can be used in any deck and can win games on it's own, it's only because he's a male, everyone hates m*les, if he was a female instead and had a lesbian thing going on with Lacrima like Ki-Sikil and Lil-la or Masquerena and Chiyomaru, then people wouldn't hate it as much and would gladly play it, Azamina is pretty much the same but there is barely any hatred towards it because Diabellstar is a sexo woman.
I play Live Twin, you can't hate me for playing Fiendsmith.
>>97553198Sure I can. Your deck is fine without it. Only honest light fiend archetypes should be allowed to play Dante.
>>97553023>you shitty raidniggas powers up my blackwings which when we get the 1 card linkAnon, you basically agreed to him about Raidraptor being superior, it's as if you said that Blackwings are fruad because they have to rely on stuff Raidraptors have.
>>97553208 (me)*fraud
>>97553167I don't think it's anything Yuya+Yuto though, they already have 3 shared boss monsters it I remember correctly, Starving Venom Wing Dragon is meant to be such a boss monster, also making cards that work together with Raidraptors and Phantom Knights and then suddenly changing an angle to work for something different is just not really possible to be true.
>>97553263Have you seen how dogshit the new Yugi ritual shit is? This is Konami we're talking about.
>>97553030Please don't project your pedo fantasies onto trading cards.
I miss my boys, /ygo/. My old decks are all too outdated to play anymore, except for Wights and Monarchs (and even they're not exactly ideal).
>>97550612I'm glad I asked here.
>>97551600They are truly classic, but an absolute train wreck of design.
>>97553538They should have retrained them into pendulums a decade ago, but Konami knows some boomer would have gone Kyoani on them if they had to read a single extra line even if it was just "This card's name becomes Toon World while in the pend zone".
>>97553154>Crow fucking HoganCH put some respect on his name brotherwho the fuck will sink money in that shit they gave us the card is at 15p cardbut you raidraptorssteal blackwings flowsteal PK a good decksteal everything yet still suck
>>97548892Don't need it you fucking dork, my archetypes not shit
I was going through by cards, reminiscing. Even making a deck with what I have, out of nostalgia.Haven't played YGO for more than a decade and a half, so I'm not familiar with the later mechanics (like synchro, pendulums, of whatever), nor have their respective cards.
>>97553619Calm down, Jesse Cox- Crow fucking Hogan isn't worth getting worked over. He's not William Riker, so stop shaking those jowls.
>>97547455>>97553358Keep posting more like those
>>97553619>CH put some respect on his name brotherNo, I don't think I will, in the second part of the series, writers basically pushed him into the trio with Yusei and Jack at the expense of Rua and Ruka and especially Aki which was a great character but was made a mere cheerleader because of his interference, for which I will never forgive. And why is that? Because the archetype he had, Blackwings were pretty popular back then. Another thing is that his signer dragon was literally never even foreshadowed, there was never anything linking to the Dark Signer battle, nothing, it was a fucking ass-pull, which is why I'm not surprised they didn't put Black-Winged Dragon in the new Crimson Dragon Quetzalcoatl, because he simply doesn't belong there. Any character which is made """great""" at the cost of other characters is garbage and shouldn't exist in the first place, I'm happy to see karma finally getting Blackwings and justice winning.
>>97554002Seeing a few languages mixed in that pic. English, Spanish and Portuguese.I do wonder if you'd still be allowed run decks with multiple languages, on official matches, seeing as they're all official TCG.
>>97554002Modern yugioh is shit. Buy a speed duel box and play with friends
>>97554512
>>97549596bump
>>97553358>>97554879I want to lick them.
Hey, I'm the returner-fag from the last thread that hasn't played in 20 years and wants to put together a Dark Magician deck. Between freebies from friends and a small tcgplayer order, I have a good pile of stuff I likely need. Could you give some suggestions as to what else to add? So far I have:2 Dark Magician1 Dark Magician Girl3 Apprentice Illusion Magician1 Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon1 Ebon High Magician3 Magician's Salvation3 Illusion of Chaos3 Magicians' Souls3 Magician's Rod1 Timaeus the United Dragon3 Eternal Soul3 Secrets of Dark Magic3 Dark Magical Circle3 Soul Servant2 The Dark Magicians1 Ebon Illusion Magician1 Quintet Magician
are you guys watching the tournament?
Is a Live Twin deck worth the cost to make physically? I don't plan on competing in locals but I want to at least stand a chance in random casual matches.
>>97548319Shouldn't AI have perfect spelling?
>>97554879cute
>>97555771no scrap this shit. shining sarc or bust.
>>97555927I don't want to spend that much on something I'm going to play like twice a month tops with friends and family.
What is the most widely beloved MR3 format?
>>97555771Maybe consider Magicalized Fusion since in addition to being a good redundancy option, it gives you an easier way to go into Quintet Magician for turnaround wins.If you're willing to include Link Monsters in your Extra Deck, you could also include some of the following>Relinquished AnimaSummoned off of Magicians' Souls. Lets you suck up an opponent's monster that it points to.>Dharc the Dark Charmer, GloomyLets you graverob your opponent if they have Dark monsters in their GY>Selene, Queen of the Master MagiciansLets you revive a Spellcaster from your GY on quick effect speed, in the event that Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon gets outed for instanceIn addition to acting as easily-accessible fodder for Quintet with Magicalized Fusion, they're just good stuff to have in the deck.
>>97556673Thanks, anon! I'll check those out when I get off work
>>97554574>No, I don't think I will, in the second part of the series, writers basically pushed him into the trio with Yusei and Jackit wasn't a trio it was 4 dudes team satisfaction watch the anime before you talk faggotthe twins are as interesting as looking at dry wallaki is just something to wank over none character the anime would of been better if that nigga didn't die and it was a anime about 4 dude bros
So which of these are correct, because that's a 379 dollar price difference for what appears to be the same card unless the one on the left was personally drawn by -pseudofamous yugioh guy-
>>97555824Yeah it's decent enough to make in paper. It's not like it's meta but it's good still. The fiendsmith stuff is getting reprinted soon-ish in Limit Over Collection Heros too if you're on it and even the announcement might drop the price of the existing printings slightly. Might take a little for the market to adjust so Id get the live twin stuff now and, if you're on it, get the fiendsmith stuff later.IMO the fiendsmith stuff is a bit overpriced at the moment.
>>97557846all of them are correct it's not really the same card, the 382$ one skyrockets in price because it's 1st ed and on top of that it's a fairly rare misprintand the graded one has an arbitrary high value because it's a 9/10, grading is a scam tho
>>97554002My first attempt to make my pile of cards somewhat useful >picrel >>97554719It's because at different points in time, for some reason, cards had been distributed here without much care of the language that they were written on.I think it's fine.>>97554877Yeah, I've heard a few persons online saying modern ygo is not as good.>speed duel What's that?
>>97557952if you like these older cards and the gameplay without any of the newer mechanics (synchros any everything after them), you should look into GOAT format
>bought a charmer deck and they're all bleeding foil some even look bootleg afJesus fucking christ Konami, that's really the quality that we're going to get for overframes?
>boomerfags hours
>>97558042That's these threads in general. Go to /v/ or /vg/ if you want to talk about shit printed this decade.
>>97557846Slabs are always a scam, money laundering at best. Use your brain for just a moment if you ever consider buying one.The card is worth about $2 unlim and $30 for 1st ed. in LP, and both's NM isnt much more.Ebay is also overpriced most of the time. Not by much but why pay more for the exact same thing?I'll even spoonfeed you the TCGplayer listing for them with filters on for NM/LP + 1st ed./unlim. 1st ed.s are a bit futher in the listings but you can uncheck the unlims filter if you want 1st ed specifically. And yes this is the exact card as this is the metal raiders printing without the EN in the set code.https://www.tcgplayer.com/product/22080/yugioh-metal-raiders-horn-of-heaven?page=3&Language=English&Condition=Lightly+Played|Near+Mint
>>97558051Your kind were completely absent in the last couple of threads and it's only because you want to stir up shit now that there's any discourse. And I don't mean "your kind" as in yugiboomers, I mean "your kind" as in "trolls with nothing better to do".Talk about legacy formats on their own merits instead of talking about how much better they are while forgetting to actually talk about the gameplay.
>>97558103>on their own meritsI would if they had any.
>>97558051The reality is, you're a typical unc. Too shit to adapt to what Yu-gi-oh has become and expecting the game to remain the same as it was 20 years ago. You'd rather be delusional and say it's the game's fault than blame yourself for being too shit at the game and too lazy to learn.>Go to /v/ or /vg/ if you want to talk about shit printed this decade.Unlike you, I like the game so I play and have decks for all 3 formats. If anyone here has to fuck off, it's you, unc.
>>97558051No it's not? You guys don't even play the game, you only act like you'll eventually go play.
>>97558124Nah, the uncs are cool. Dopamine monkeys like you that encourage the powercreep and spastic bullshit the game has become should fuck off. Go play cardbuddyfightwhatever instead.
>>97558138What 25 year old game do you know that doesn’t have power creep? Most card games can’t even survive without power creep, it’s needed to keep players interested and buying new products. You should fuck off and go play Pokemon or One Piece, it has rotations.>spastic bullshitOnly to those with low IQ and braincell count.
>>97558124>>97558186>"unc"Part of the problem is that it's harder for the game to get new blood, retard. Who are you calling "unc"?
>>97557846the twos got 1st edition so its do you care about that or not
>>97558186There's a difference between the inevitable amount of powercreep (notice the word creep there? It's meant to be slow, gradual) and what yugioh does. How many meta decks from say... 10 years ago would still contend with modern meta decks?
Rules question. In a 4+ player duel, can effects that trigger "On your opponents turn" activate on each players turn or do you choose one each round?Garuda the Wind Spirit as an example
>>97558309>Once per turn, during your opponent's end phaseIf it's four player free for all, they're all your opponent, so you can twiddle one monster during that respective player's end phase each turn
>>97558304NTAAssuming you mean the meta today and they're some sort of full-power, probably a decent number of decks could go at least rogue that are about 10 years old. Shaddoll (2015), Zoodiac (2017), Windup (2012), Nekroz (2015), Spyral (2017), Shockmaster turbo (2013), and you could technically count a bunch of FTKs but I'll leave those alone. The easiest way to figure out such a question is to look at the ban list and see what cards are on there and think about what got them banned in the first place.
>>97558407That is a very level-headed response, and I appreciate you. However, I was merely attempting to agitate a powercreep apologist. I actually might dig into this though to see if it's as bad as I perceive it to be.
>>97549596There is currently no other sealed product on the market that contains Dino-pile support except for GMX in BPRO.Also Misc is not coming back. What a cancer card and is likely holding back konami from considering making anything dino out of fear of it becoming playable again because it's at 3 in the OCG and they did the retarded OCG and left the obvious problem card legal.
>>97558304
>Opponent stuns and negates all my shit>His deck also allows him to summon and combo shit during MY turn for daring to make a moveHow is this fun?
>>97558304Are you talking about those decks in the state they were in a decade ago, or decks in general that have gotten support throughout the years that were formerly meta? Because depending on how broadly you widen the scope, Lunalight got 4th in worlds recently and Ancient Gear infamously went 6-0 at a WCQ in the middle of Fiendsmith Snake-Eye format. If you're unfreezing decks in the states they were at in their height (implicitly meaning pre-errata cards and banlists from their times), then Nekroz and Yata Locks could pretty easily survive in the current meta-- the former due to Djinn and the latter because in addition to the lock. Any Rank 4 deck that could make Utopic Zexal (a 2016 card in Japan) or Rhongomyniad with at least 4 materials would also just be able to win on-the-spot. It's also convenient that you are asking about a cutoff date that's 2 years prior to 2018, the year of floodgates and FTKs.
>>97558445I don't have any stake in this conversation but I also disagree with you on your opinions about powercreep.People often like to site powercreep as some kind of deathblow that's going to kill a game but does it actually? I'm almost inclined to call the argument a sort of fallacy. Powercreep is constantly sited in all the big TCGs but somehow none of them have actually died, doesn't this disprove the theory? Sure it will turn away some number of people but it hasn't become substantial enough number yet to matter for any of these games. There's another theory that I believe in more but it buttblasts people really bad and I dont exactly want to get into it right now.I've said my piece and not going to engage further.
My fuckup here, >>97558561 was ment for >>97558429.
>no thread CaCs in the OPit's over isn't it?
>>97558488I meant their exact decklist at the time, nothing printed after. Also, I picked ten years because it seemed like a good time span, saying 11 or 7 would just be odd.
>>97558778Then you'd need to extend that to their exact banlists of the times, because in the case of CED Yata Locks for instance, there's a lot of hindsight in regards to cards that didn't see play in those times. Solemn Judgement is one of the easiest examples to point at. You don't really need that kind of things for Nekroz though because Djinn turned any one of their monsters into floodgates on legs that you couldn't shut off with negation. That card is ultra-banned for a reason. Also, like mentioned before, a lot of generic shit that went into meta decks from back in the day are also still ultra-banned for a reason. Nothing to date has powercrept Shockmaster, Utopic ZEXAL, or Rhongomyniad. And one would be forgiven for thinking that pre-errata CED Yata locks wouldn't work very well in this day and age due to floating effects, but it is still pretty trivially able to just shut an entire game down on its own since not everything floats.
>>97558906That's very insightful from a high level competitive play point of view. I think for me, powercreep comes down to whether or not an average player will need an entirely new deck to hold their own if they've stopped playing for a few years. My primary tcg is mtg, so if you're out for a few years it's usually a case of there being new stuff to explore, new ways to build, but average player vs average player there isn't going to be any real gap in mechanics that makes a tangible difference in game advantage. An example for ygo would be if you played before Synchro, you're majorly disadvantaged in monster speed and will need a major rebuild. Magic introduces new mechanics, but they aren't so game-warpingly relevant that an old deck is entirely outclassed. It comes down to grabbing a few new single cards versus needing an entirely new deck minus 2 or 3 cards that are still relevant or receiving support. I guess part of that comes down to design principles too though, with ygo being an Eastern designed tcg it does the whole hyper-specific sub-theme that's only relevant for a set or two and then gets dropped until it's time to entirely retrain and replace most of your old cards for that sub-theme. Magic is less of a restrictive build, so old elves are just as useful as new elves and can be mixed as you see fit without being disadvantaged mechanically.

However she won't be your valentine's, she's merely gifting you friendship sex.So which one, /tg/?
>>97558481It's not, back in translaments format i was forced to make a discuck account in order to organize games, because metafags would shit up our table (full of petdecks) otherwise, as they weren't content with stomping the shit out of everyone at tournaments that wasn't on the same deck.I did the exact same with JUST format, as watching my opponent shit out a board on my own goddamn turn, then floodgate me with droll as soon as they were done setting up wasn't fun. And if they went first, they would go for a floodgate (on top of their usual board) because these people simply don't want to actually play yugioh, just stroke their micro penises as they watch their opponents despair. Fatherless behavior.
>>97558561>There's another theory that I believe in more but it buttblasts people really bad and I dont exactly want to get into it right now. What a fucking tease lol
Does anyone have any good places to talk to people for theorycrafting? I find this site and discord are a bit hard to get a conversation that doesn't turn memey.
>>97559795The first could lead to stuff later but given we know they go gay or something later in the lore the informed option is to take the immediate gratification in the 2nd option.Sadly I have seen the first option situation play out before and now know better.
>>97560008If you mean meta theory crafting. Private competitive team group chats hosted on whatever platform. Anything public is subject to having randoms jump in and shit everything up. Downside is that you don't get to decide when you get to join one. You get scouted or "know a guy" to get in. If you don't have at least a regional top to your name or you're an expert at ass kissing then forget it.If you mean for a specific deck. Archetype discords are your best bet but also have the issue of randoms. It sounds like you've already been through that though so you're SOL.
What's a good/fun Red Eyes deck for casual play?
Of course, it’s the boomer MTGfag complaining about power creep and having to buy new cards after not playing for a decade. Never mind the people who actually played the game during those ten years and would have been stuck with a stale unchanging format. But sure, heaven forbid the MTG unc has to update his pet deck after TEN YEARS away from the game. Bro got filtered when Synchros dropped because he was still tribute summoning his Red-Eyes, and he’s still talking about it. Konami gave the uncs GOAT, Edison, and now Genesys, whole time capsules so they can relive their glory days and shut the fuck up, and they’re still not happy. Insane.>It comes down to grabbing a few new single cards versus needing an entirely new deck minus 2 or 3 cards that are still relevant or receiving support. If you’ve been gone for years, of course you’re not just buying 2–3 singles. The whole model of any TCGs is built on selling new cards. If returning players could update with pocket change, the company wouldn’t make money and the game wouldn’t evolve. Yes, it’s expensive and profit-driven but that same cycle is what keeps the meta fresh and interesting for the people who actually kept playing. You can’t expect a competitive card game to both stay frozen for a decade and keep growing at the same time.>>97558561>doesn't this disprove the theory? It does, but people that complains about it are delusional and ignores reality. Look how no one replied to you seriously.>>97559838Imagine complaining about competitive players being competitive… in a competitive card game. Imagine getting mad that people use locals to practice for actual tournaments instead of playing in some imaginary sandbox where every deck is a random pile of garbage and nobody’s trying to win. Yeah, at that point just stay home on Discord and play that imaginary version of the game in your head because it clearly isn’t YGO you’re looking for.
>>97560497Pffft, yeah. Imagine anyone ever trying to have any fun
>>97560512Fun is subjective. Competitive players have fun learning how to play around the meta strategies and engaging with the actual state of the game. It’s even more rewarding when there’s something on the line for mastering it. People like you, without a single competitive bone in them, are having fun trying to LARP as Joey and Kaiba while in their 30s because you’re autistic and still stuck in the past. That's fine, not everyone has to like modern YGO, it’s definitely not for everyone but complaining about the game years later, when there are time-capsule formats and a dozen other games you could be playing instead is just retarded.
>>97560497Anon, i complain because the meta fags have their own little spaces at my locals, and they still feel the need to play against people on structure decks. They don't play against each other outside of tournaments, they want to stomp petdeckers no matter what. It'd be like [insert your favorite athlete here] showing up to a competition where everyone else is disabled. This why i manage this little group on discuck where people on budget shit can test their decks against people using decks of similar power, because again, it's not fun seeing your opponent play past 4 handtraps and shit out a full board with just one card, while you die to a single ash/fuwalos/droll.
>Master Duel rank-up matchup>go first>opponent plays 60 card deck>opens Nibiru + Ash Blossom + 1 card starter???
>>97560712Every single month KONMAI announces that they've purged some more chinese accounts that were using hacks, this shouldn't surprise you.

I'm a beginner, is blue eyes white destiny good for casual or is it too complex?
>>97561230Yeah, it's the perfect thing to get started with.
>>97561265now I have to get money
>>97561067>6th draw is 1 card starter which extends into the moon
>>97560497Have to update every month these days.
>>97560568Bro the last white ygo player in his neighborhood
>>97561473>t.muttAll the white people are playing GOAT.
>>97547694literally my card game, cards that seem useless in the set they're in, only to be realized in another set like a big ole undulating puzzle
>>97547694That depends on whether or not you're talking about seeing play in general or competitive play. The answer if the latter is No, because a meta will naturally form no matter what and the only way to keep every card seeing play is if there's so little deviation between the cards that they might as well just be exactly the same. If the answer to the latter is Yes, then Yugioh already does that to an extent, though they have to content with years of outright incompetent card design that pervaded the game pretty much up until the Link era of the game (incompetent cards still get printed after that point, but they're not nearly as bad as the old ones). A lot of shit released approximately around and after HAT's time was pretty well off, but you still have to live with the reality that outright fucking stinkers like most Elemental HERO cards, the entirety of the Flamvell archetype, and most Pendulum-era cards that had overly-harsh restrictions and bad scales just exist in the game.
Online purchase came with a bunch of SHIT as freebies
Man I hate buying yugioh cards that's not in a booster box/pack. It feels impossible to find stock anywhere unless you want to pay 5x the market value. That's so stupid though that I'm forced to buy higher rarity.
>>97562196post you're pulls
>>97562331I don't want any of these cards, only blue eyes through pharaoh servant. Gonna sell to a shop for a couple bucks
>>97562279Assuming you're the leaf that's been posting and that's having the problem. You gotta find a proxy shipping address so you can get the deals of tcgplayer.I'd offer to be it for you (US, michigan). Up to you how you want to contact
>>97562483I appreciate it and I'm surprised you knew it was me. I don't know why yugioh isn't that big here. It's just One Piece and Pokemon....
competitivefags kys
>>97553030>>97553358>wants to pet and feed them when they're cute girlies>wants to get them pregnant when they're hot momma witchesI don't know what that is called, but this is why WF is the best deck to me. All I want is Konami to find a way to make pic related playable in WF somehow.
>>97560389yeah... it sucks. I've been posting in a couple of yugioh threads but honestly it's just been ritual posting/coooom posting this would be based if they weren't just trying to bait people/eceleb or vtuber faggotry / or complaining about chinks. I've had the same feeling with fighting games and it absolutely sucks. nobody likes actually talking about shit. so frustrating.

Is the 5Ds Legendary deck set worth picking up as someone who hasn't played in a long long time?
>>97565269If you want the staples or play with noncompetitive decks with your friends, sure
>97563027Kys shitter, and stay on discord.
>>97563268Yeah there isn't really a lot or any other people here that are actually good at the game in a competitive sense. Speaking as someone who tried to see if anyone else went to US Nats/WCQ last year and had a freebie to give away for this thread and got 1 response only after the event.I'm not saying the people here don't know the game, just that most would fall into the casual category. Though I should cover my ass and say there's a decently number of non-players ITT who exist only to shitpost and talk out of their asses. Just ask them to post their decks with timestamp and they get defensive.I'm in one of those private groupchats of a bunch of compfags so I dont really have a reason to post here for insight or to test. I wish I could help you here but it's not my call of who gets invited.
>>97565800Could I upgrade one of them into something I could play at locals?
>>97565269TLDR Sure if you like at least 1 of the decks, just go in with the willingness to learn. It will help you get your hands on a bunch of staples if you want to break apart the decks but 2/3 of the decks in it are perfectly serviceable to play out of the box. The rose dragon/akiza deck is there most likely to shill the black rose cards that came out in the core set released next to it. In theory that one could be brought up to par but if you're going to spend a bit of money on one of the decks you're best off upgrading one you actually want rather than try and balance the box.The Junk/Yusei deck also has a bunch of cards in sets coming out now that give it a lot of consistency but it's decent out of the box.The blackwing/crow deck is the most "viable" in terms of play and included cards for your purpose. Consider this one over the others but as I said it's your call which you decide to take further.
Just need one more metal raiders to Sim opening the original tins. Got a friend and two coworkers doing the same. My cards will be the best because I believe in the heart of the cards more than them
>>97566005Not at all
>>97566051Akiza's deck interests me the most.
What format should I play if I want the game to last longer than 2 or 3 turns?
>>97563829>blackwingkys
>>97566271modern deck building and mindsets have poisoned retro formats too so there's degen solitaire decks everywheregoat has reasoning/machine gate, edison has gigavise and forgs, redu has wind-up etcthey're not too common but you will eventually face them and play a non-game
>>97563829Is this edison? what's the point of getting mad? Isn't the whole point of the format that the decks are like 1 of or 4 archetypes with small but meaningful variations?
>>97563027What's the point of playing yugioh if you arent competitive? That's like 90% of the game's identity. Meet me over in the ACG general if you want to play something casually
>>97566271Time wizard, time travel, speed duels(box) or some community-made format like domain or trinity
>>97566185In that case you'll really want to also get the support cards from DOOD if you want to give it an edge for locals. Thankfully it's all pretty cheap besides bramble rose dragon which is still only $7 per and you only want maybe 2 of them.Since you're completely new, ygoprodeck is the largest decklist repository where you can get an idea of what people are playing and at what ratios. You can even export lists to test in free clients like EDOpro or YGOomega (see OP)https://ygoprodeck.com/category/type/rose%20dragonClick "View All [name] Decks" at the top to see a lot more lists as this is just the frontpage for the archetype. Each have a tag in the thumbnail to see what they're intended for like Non-meta, Genesys, Master duel, etc. but you can draw inspiration from any of them.Or you can say fuck it and build your own way if you enjoy the deck refining process.
>>97566326yes its edisonopp got sacked so they got mad, that's very common with randoms on DB
>>97566379InterestingMost people on DB just DC with me because I take too long with the UI, which paradoxically makes it take longer to learn the UI because there is no practice tool
>>97566051NTA but it pleases me to hear that, I hope I can buy it before my local store runs outThey only have 9 left and I won't be able to afford it until next week
