I think the current canon is that the stud sold as mark 5 armor is 'production' mark 5, while any slapped together ersatz stuff is 'non-production', which seems like a happy medium to me.

I am starting Mechanicum. I managed to grab some armyboxes my store still had left. I think I have more than enough stuff to start. I currently have 2 of the boxes with a Thanatar, a Triaros, 6 Thallax, 2 Castellax and a bunch of Tech Thralls each and one of the boxes with a Karacnos, a Krios and a Thanatar with the big lascannon.

My understanding is that Mechanicum need a bunch of priests to work on the tabletop. How many should I get?

I got a box of 10 tartaros for birthday, so I want to use them , as they are a gift. My problem is I do not understand the unit. Those are terminators, so they are slow, slightly tougher then marines, but the weapon load outs are strange. Fist bolter seems like a waste, as cataphract are tougher and the unit that dies slower, gets to be used more. So maybe I should run all of them as claw armed marine hunters, but that is a lot of points to hunt 100pts tacticals. So how do people run their tartaros in DA or shattered legion armies?

Tartaros are the fast terminators. With move 7 and being allowed to run they can get away with footslogging, just run turn 1 then turn 2 they will be in range to charge something.
For exclusive tactical hunting people use squads of 5 with twin lightning claws, sometimes in a transport. Because 5 is already overkill.
Tartaros command squads are also nasty, only a little less durable than cataphractii but soooo much more mobile. They can still chase down units after doing their big charge out of transport vehicle. For command squads you want power fists and/or thunder hammers, with maybe one model with twin lightning claws in case they do have to charge some tacticals.
For a ten man squad you're best off giving them mixed equipment. That way the tartaros will be able to deal with whatever comes their way, instead of having to hunt down the specific unit they've been equipped for. So two or three with lightning claws or power weapons (these also serve as bullet catchers, to be the first ones removed if the unit suffers casualties) the rest with power fists and/or thunder hammers.

Combi-bolters are actually a very solid choice on terminators now. Four shots, and terminators can use them during volley fire. That's a lot of dakka.

>>97556738
For heavy weapons the reaper autocannon is a pretty solid all-round damage upgrade.
Heavy flamers only really work when they're riding a transport, but definitely worth considering now to apply Panic before charging in.
Plasma blasters are kinda meh.

What do you struggle with exactly?
With jump packs they can rush close or even deep strike, use rad grenades to kill and -1 toughness MEQ before shooting it with something else, then charge.
On foot you can stuff them in a Rhino, or just footslog and use the rad missile launcher to spread Phage (toughness) around as they move closer.
>>
>>97557672
>On foot you can stuff them in a Rhino
This is what I have been neglecting then. I've been starting them as a squad of 5 on foot and trying to slog it up the board to try and maximize their phage potential and they just get nuked after maybe one application of it. I'll pick up another rhino and just work to prioritize a unit or two to focus on locking down instead of trying to just get as many off as I can. I'll try and slot some seekers in too. I'm also probably relying too much on assault putting in work when lines start to close in.
I need to stop being autistic and retarded and just deal with using transports on unmaxed squads.
>>
>>97557735
Yeah a 5 man destroyer squad won't live long lol. Destroyers have become quite the priority target with the new rules.

Got a game of the new relic hunt in today, was fun. I lost, but it was literally due to my last unit of castellax and magos running on the last turn of the game and denying me points, which was in turn because they lost a castellax on the previous turn because they rolled box cars and the relic blew up in their face, so very close despite me being mechanicum lol.
>>
>>97557752
Makes sense. I don't play competitively all that often, but I've more or less just gone to using terminators when heavy assault slots come to be filled these days. Even stock Cataphractii if points are tight. Need a change of pace from that I guess so I'm looking to Destroyers again. I'll see if I can find some jump packs lying around to try out the assault variant since the extra movement may help to keep their numbers low so I don't have to invest so deep. Thanks for the tip

I understand if no anons know but how big is the current minimalist WE shoulder sized insignia from the HH transfer sheet compared with the OG "chomp" version.

This for my Legions Imp command squad banners. I checked and found the classic world eaters logo from my old 2006 era chaos transfer sheet fit the banner. It would work for my demi-company banner but for my drop pod/termite assault formation command squad I wanted to make something like pic related using transfers and a little freehand but I need to make sure the HH shoulder insignia will fit before I buy any.

Fellow Titanicus player(s) a question: how do you work with the line of sight rule that says you can only shoot what you can see requiring you to reroll results on the location dice if you target something out of line of sight? I've always just ignored it because it's a lame rule that slows shit down with multiple rerolls too often just to determine location even though you're already getting an accuracy debuff. I'm concerned at how Adepticon will mesh with the interpretations that have become standard at my local.

Taking a look at my sheet: the standard shoulder emblem is a hair short of 5mm tall (tip of the top spike to the tip of bottom spike). The alternate style logo just beneath it on the sheet is about a half millimeter smaller.

Actually I take that back. The alternate emblem is basically the same size. You can pixel measure it and calculate the actual size of whatever you need.

thanks anon. the banner is just shy of 5mm wide so it should just fit. I guess I can use it on tanks if it doesn't fit and those smaller knee ones will be useful.

The old version from the old CSM box is 3mm wide if any anons are wondering.

I may have overreacted a bit when the nuMarks began appearing, since I really do not like nuMkIII. I also feel that the old manlets look better scaled in a table, specially next to vehicles.
I've just realized that I got loads of the old plastic Mk3 and Mk4:
>130+ Mk4 in sprues
>~70 Mk3 in sprues + ~20 legit FW resin
But what to do now with all those?
I can make plenty of tacticals, spacial weapon squads, and HSS with missile launchers and hvy bolters, sure. Also enough melee weapons and arms for at least a command squad, yeah.
What would you suggest next?
>>
>>97559342
Well you will probably want RHINOS RHINOS RHINOS to transport all of these marines.
>>
>>97559262
Nah beta garmon doesn't have AI-esque errors like mentioning the BA had a single dread and then later on that dread getting helped by another one.
>>97559276
It is, it's told by the pov of the marines attacking Mars and the bit about marines is 100% correct. They could have given at least some stuff other than the free pdf engines that were already available or the laughably badly balanced arcanas to mech. Imo it was going to be another exemplary battles book but with how bad the community received the first and this one being even worse they just dropped the title and made it its own thing.

>>97559542
Nah veterans are still very useful.
Melee veterans on foot they're called centurion command squads now fit in a Rhino and abuse the fuck out of Rhino Rush being a thing again. Can keep them cheap with some power weapons, or give them thunder hammers and combat shields and melee veterans will handle anything up to and including WS 5 terminators in melee.
No vanguard, so standing on an objective blocking tactical squads from getting in range is a solid tactic too. Sure, they get less VP than a unit with Line, but denying enemy Line units a chance to score can lead to much bigger VP advantages.

Veteran tactical squads are the unit for ranged weapon upgrades, they got BS 5. They're Line 1 too, making them a nice option if you want a scoring unit that does more than rush onto an objective and die immediately.
Combi-meltas aren't the gods of anti-tank they used to be, but rolling a single penetrating hit in melta range will still kill almost any vehicle below a land raider against a land raider or heavier you need two pens And terminators still hate getting shot with melta.

Actually this might not be the most accurate; this has the old 1.0 powerpack and feet. Take with a grain of salt + remember GW does change things a bit for the final release;

- The numk2 faceplate is slightly different between the crewman and the tactical/assault squads, so are the rivets (notably on the helmet)
- The breacher shield on Fafnir was clearly the base of the nu breacher shields though they were modified to look closer to the old 1.0 breacher shields.

The existing miniatures/artworks are a good base to guess what the armor will end up looking like but not entirely accurate; will do a comparison when the numk5 kit is revealed.
