Dragon Magazine time. I love how evocative these covers could be. I can come up with dozens of story ideas just from looking at the covers

Fantasy artists rarely give much thought to how shit actually works.

I am still astomished thatthey have so many good cover artists. Did they make so much cash? Was it re-ised covers from their sold books? Or just fans and artists using it as a show-off plattform?

I remember reading the libary's issues of Dragon and Dungeon.

Even the ads were cool.

Ah, 81. This was the spell components and poison issue, I believe- though I best remember it for being the issue I always think has the Ice Age article, only to remember it was like 20 issues earlier. Damn that Really Fucking Nice cover art, always among my faves.

Imagine getting a bundle of adventure ideas and character options in the mail every single month.

I should have been born an unc. Just watching 80's/90's movies or seeing early digital photos of 2000's era parties fills me with despair and longing because we had so much and it was just taken from anyone born after the millennium.

As someone who was to those parties I can tell you that you have severe "grass is always greener on the other side" syndrome.

I love these artsy covers. Old-school fantasy art the best.

>>97560876
Have to disagree with you, fellow old-timer. I also went to these LAN parties and they were fun as shit. You don't see much of that anymore, although maybe it's just me cause I got old. Everything's online but fragmented, disjointed and less cooperative.

>I also went to these LAN parties
He only said "parties", no LAN in there. So you know, get drunk, hit on girls, all that stuff. Well, hopefully you know.

Dragon Magazine was alright. I love some of the Monster Ecologies series, particularly the one that is still how Yuan-ti work in my setting.

But, for me, my money was always on Dungeon. Song of the Fens remains my favorite adventure, hands down. It's the perfect intro adventure, but I've ranted about how good it is on /tg/ enough times that I'll spare you. There are so many wonderful adventures in there that taught me how to GM.

>>97560252
You've been sold a vision of a golden age by the exact same people you're blaming of "taking" something from you. It's all just marketing, anon. The 80s and 90s weren't very long ago and the America my nieces and nephews are growing up in is the same one I lived in, except just a tiny bit better.

Care to post the PDF of it then? You can upload to drop sites like catbox.moe and post the link here.

it was all the same except that we documented way less and you can only see selected parts.
Computers not being related to every second of your life was better tho.
