Freakshit races are ruining Dungeons & Dragons.
>>97560159And here I was thinking that the shitty writers making shitting mechanics catering to shitty politically/social-agenda obsessed retards in accordance with their ESG-funded principles was responsible.
Only trolls say "freakshit."This is a known fact.

>>97560180>t. plays a pansexual tiefling with heterochromia and lists the SSRIs and other talmudic shit he takes in his inventory
>>97560159Run D&D 3.5e, Level Adjustment, core races being the traditional AD&D ones and humans being just way more convenient (no multiclassing exp penalty and extra feat + skill points) fix this issue. The other side of the coin is that you have buildniggers making nonsensical characters through exotic classes and feats but you can regulate that by listing the allowed splats beyond core (way more easy than dealing with 5edrones used to be served a la carte through d&d beyond)....or just play something other than d&d.
>>97560159>This thread, once again
>>97560159>freakshitGary Gygax, who was one of the progenitors of D&D, envisioned and encouraged players speaking with their DMs to play whatever they want. No, this is not a defense or endorsement, nor is this an implication that D&D is even designed to handle that as written; this is merely to point out that D&D was "ruined by freakshit" from the very start.
>>97560159You used this image last week, of the two you have. At least put the effort to cycle them around
This is something only nogames cares about. You are in complete control over the content in your game.
Cocks ruin OP's butthole.
It's the very least of the problems with D&D.
>>97560228He designed dungeons and dragons specifically to torture and bully freakshit players
>>97560159So don't play D&D. Problem solved.
I mean, they're annoying but the freakshit races are basically just an aesthetic. They don't really change the roleplaying dynamic. I mean, it's expected that DnD settings will be cosmopolitan and accepting so random villagers won't be scared of a half-orc or tiefling hero. As far as what's ruined DnD, I'd point to stuff like players long-resting after every battle because people want a power fantasy and not a gritty slog where you're budgeting your resources to get through a dungeon these days. Or Critical Role raising new players' expectations to an insane level - some normal guy running a quest after his shift at the IT help desk isn't going to be dancing around like a monkey to entertain his players or have the vocal range of a professional voice actor. To say nothing of DnD being scooped up by WotC(brought in Magic the Gathering shit like timmy cards) and Hasbro(brought in meddling normie executives who don't game themselves).
These are just humans. I wish this was freakshit.
>>97560159You've been making this same thread for years. When will D&D's ruination finally be done so you'll stop?
>>97560173>>97560159Freakshit is a symptom, not the disease.
It is weird that this shit gets posted like it is the norm when nearly all surveys come back with Humans being the most commonly used race by far with Elves in a distant second.

>>97560213God the 3E art was fugly. Just endless varieties of beige/sepia/brown. I also hate halflings being portrayed as shrunk down humans and not chunky miniature British peasants. I think I'd almost prefer 4E WoW Pauldroncore shit.
Funny, enough, I think races being more alien to each other is better. Else, you raise questions like: "if elves are just better humans, why haven't humans gone extinct" or "if humans occupy the generalist niche why haven't they pushed the other races to extinction"? I think most races would live in niches, or be human variants/symbionts/parasites.
>>97561203>EscaflowneI see you are a /m/an of culture.
>>97560159Any good DM makes players earn their freakshit characters, ideally as secondaries. Note, too, these characters in OP are all the products of single mothers.
>>97560509>freakshit races are basically just an aesthetic>they don't really change the roleplaying dynamicThis is THE problem. >>97560173what ESG mechanics are you talking about?
>>97560159Didn't we have this exact thread recently? Are you just that obsessed?
>>97560509It's notable that the dungeon crawling rules are literally different than they used to be. People can bicker about whether OSR was better or not all they like, but it's a fact that it was just different, and that it was designed to tax you the longer that you were in the dungeon. You needed to go in, be critical about your choices, and get it done. Contrast that with how it works now, where the rules don't teach you to do this, and the way that people approach the game is different. There IS some power fantasy stuff going on, but what it really facilitates is boss fights. Players are often taxed less by the dungeons that their GMs put them through, and they tend to have more of their resources left so that they can do a big, epic fight at the end of it.Neither way is strictly wrong, I think. But it is a divide that hasn't been studied and discussed enough. If the games are meant to be played the new way instead of the old way, then the rules should help facilitate that, rather than just sort of pretending that the old way is still "the way" as a matter of branding, but not actually living up to that in practice.
>>97560159How would you know, OP? You play no games, after all.
>>97560196
>>97560159Who's still playing D&D? Half the joy of watching WotC flail widely as it commits violent and brutal suicide comes from the knowledge that people will finally try different systems.
>>97561460>Players are often taxed less by the dungeons that their GMs put them through, and they tend to have more of their resources left so that they can do a big, epic fight at the end of it.The thing is that evolved into many modern D&D players viewing all of those other fights as a waste of time, and so you get tables that simply run 1-2 per day so there's barely any resource management at all.Like you said though, part of the trouble is that the game still isn't really built for that. It just ends up as pure power fantasy when the players stomp the boss as their only fight for the day.

Yep. Every fucking game I play is full of freakshit nowadays. Don't get me wrong, i like other races in the game. But the older I get, the more I want to focus on humans. And when those races aren't even rare or exotic, it just ruins the entire point of them. And when they play, say, a tiefling, and then don't even fucking roleplay that race at all, it just becomes background noise. And these races are usually played by SJW cuck retards who say that race doesn't matter, so that's why they don't make their character's race a factor in their roleplaying, they just happen to be half demonspawn. But they also will say how race matters IRL and how it's an excuse to whine about being oppressed, and that's why it's racist if you want them to play humans in D&D, even though they don't roleplay the other races when they're allowed to play them. So it's just bloat, it's completely fucking useless, it makes the same suck dick even more. Personally for me if you want to play a non-human/elf/orc race then you need to roll a 15+ on 1d20. If you lose, you have to play a male human fighter. Don't like it? I'm the most popular DM in a 35 mile radius, there's a literal waiting list to get into my game, so you can go play with some soi beard DM you pay 20 dollars a session to read Curse of Strahd out to you and 4 other trannies on Roll20.

>>97560597Selection bias maybe? Freakshit players get complained about online, commission Tumblr-tier art of their characters, and act annoying on Twitter so people assume they're the default. And you just don't hear about mostly-human groups with players who have jobs and other hobbies.
Nobody in this thread is being forced to play with a so-called 'freakshit' playerWhat's the outrage about?
>>97560159Tell me about it. That's why I go into every party playing a human wizard that's also in a wheelchair.
>>97563323>Nogame bitching about people playing games wrongYeah, you reminded everyone
>>97563731What if I told you certain people are terminally online and the only way they can get their dopamine kick is starting an utterly pointless argument, build entirely on idiotic projection and fake outrage?
>>97563731Op is baiting and the whole freakshit thing is just exaggeration for the sake of controversy, players being cringe retards making sensless decision has always been a thing since the hobby inception, that said, for how much disingenuous the argument is, stems and get fueled by the plain fact that in any social activities it's implicit having to deal with concessions of sorts. You don't always have the luxury of selecting players, they may be the only ones in your friends circle interested in playing and you may live in some backwater place with few to pick from. Most of the times you'll concede a lot to get the game happen, and on the long run it will start (mildly) annoying you.For example there's on guy in my gaming groups that showed and advertised interest in running more narrativist focused games (specifically fate and 7th sea) but the people here are most gamist scums with little to no interest in approaching anything less than skirmish oriented games, i'm more of the simulationist persuasion but i can put my head in other mindsets easily and have fun so i showed him support. Best we achieved was one fate game with other 2 guys that quickly died out, there's just not enough interest for it to be sustainable and this guy has barely any time in his life for scouting new players (even though he tries). The example is relevant to the 'freakshit' case because shows that sometimes you can't do much to live through a zeitgeist, if your pool of players consist only in guys that have fun playing only 5e by making sparkledogs and senseless builds, you can only hope that some of them to have different interests, but, if doesn't happened you're screwed, either find new guys, concede by playing a game you won't enjoy fully or no game at all.>inb4 play onlineIf you're a guy like me that loves the p&p experience you'll end crossing that bridge once you're already sour so you'll happen to spit venom in discourse. What better place than 4chan for that?
>>97564792I'd say they better get their asses to x dot com, they can actually make money from doing this.>>97564792Thank you for your perspective. It is very well put. I see your point.I hope- if you choose to play online- you find people you'll like. My situation was a bit like yours. Tabletop games weren't exactly a thing until maybe 3-4 years ago here. I shrugged my shoulders and played online. I played a basic PnP D&D one shot a little while back, and I can understand your perspective. There's something about having a book of notes to your side, a print-out of your character sheet and the ability to act out your roleplaying that feels a lot more interactive than just online play.Anyway didn't mean to blogpost. I see your perspective, and I hope you find like-minded people.
>>97560808What games is this obvious redditor playing at? I have the issue of my players ONLY wanting to be Humans or Elves.

>>97560173You say that as if the two things are separate. Freakshit is being pushed and enabled exactly because the ESG-worshipping poofters love being superduperspecialsnowflakes.
>>97561748People like OP will bitch about D&D all day but when it comes time to run a game (he isn't but let's pretend) they'll insist that literally no one will play anything else as an excuse to not leave their comfort zones.
>>97560173There’s an easier word to use for those people, and one they hate more than the word salad; Baizuo. It encapsulates everything you are complaining about *and* generates the existential fear Baizuo has towards Chinese ascendancy.
>>97560509>I mean, it's expected that DnD settings will be cosmopolitan and accepting so random villagers won't be scared of a half-orc or tiefling hero. Maybe in whatever degenerate shithole you play in. Over here in Sanityland, half-evil subspecies and literal demonspawn can't be heroes at all. I still allow fags like you to join my games though, because it's fucking hilarious watching you wilt with dismay when you realise you're playing with two human male fighters, a male dwarf fighter, and a male elf wizard, and truly refreshing to the soul when the first population centre the band arrives in immediately seizes your freakshit attention-seeking subhuman and either mob violences them to death or tries and executes them, because why the *fuck* would villagers who routinely get pillaged by Orcs accept one of their mindlessly violent rapebabies? What sane person welcomes literal demons into their community? It's only a shame that it's not socially acceptable to also seize and burn YOU the player alive as well.
>>97560597>>97563711Same reason there's so much furry porn. Degenerate losers that any right-thinking person is horrified and disgusted by always seek each other out and form little incestuous "communities". Their abnormality means no mainstream content caters to them, so they commission works that do and being freakish subnormals they end up doing that a *lot*. The hilarious part is when they try and pretend the glut of their heinous freakshit and fetish smut that's out there somehow means that secretly they're all rich power elites and that's how they can afford so much, when the pathetic reality is they're all just basement dwelling trogs or regular wagies who just spend an unhealthy portion of their income/their pocket money enabling the delusion that they aren't misbegotten horrors despised by real people.
>>97560159No, shitty mechanics ruined Dungeons & Dragons.
>>97560509>>97565663Both of you hotheads are wrong because you’re screaming about the worst case scenario for any tabletop setup,>Generic setting>Generic premise>Random players>No discussion on intent or toneOf course you’re going to get bottom-barrel trash if your campaign is built on Roll20 LFG randos with a single campaign description of, “let’s go slay a dragon.” Tabletop RPGs are meant to be played with people you know and want around. There might have been a time when Johnny Fatlips was the only other player in town and you had to deal with his bullshit, but it’s a GM’s market these days and if you haven’t been cultivating your tabletop résumé than you’ve failed as a GM.Like, fuck. I’m surrounded by libshits where I hang out and every time I call for games they make conventional characters that fit in the world I offer them. Because they know what I like, I know they are trustworthy, and talking about Charlie Kirk is strictly prohibited.Have a fucking backbone and don’t play with freaks. Jesus.

>>97561203>>97565769I miss this style of catgirl, where they were something between a human with ears and tail tacked on and just a bipedal animal that only zoophiles would find attractive.
>>97565663Man I kinda want to see you try this then the absolute cringefest that unfolds when you're trying to be smugly gloating about your "reveal" whilst the player who turned up to an advertised game with a perfectly bland core rulebook compliant half orc or tiefling responds with... Calm bafflement.
