What's your go to source of inspiration?I don't read as much as I'd like, but I can tell that reading makes it easier to describe things with words. Pretty obvious. The appendix N stuff is way better than I assumed at first. I've taken some concepts from 90's half-mainstream comics, Vertigo and other sublines had really weird shit. But manga never gave me anything. The things I like are way too incompatible with the games I run.
I tend to work from stretching lore-blurbs like picking at WotC's disjointed mess of explanations for why Undead are Evil to construct a clear category of edge-cases that aren't to fill out the Token Nonevil Undeath Goddess or sitting down to extract underlying structures from other works to fill the details with setting-appropriate ones like porting Rain World's reincarnation angst to stock sci-fi psychic-isms through collective unconscious and precognition feedbacks.
