>GW unveils Tiger Warriors it has designed for Cathay
>in Total War Warhammer, not Warhammer the Old World

This is really interesting, is the tail wagging the dog or vice versa re: GW and CA?

Will we ever get miniatures?
>>
>This is really interesting
It’s really not. Much like everything surrounding Cathay it’s boring.
>Will we ever get miniatures
I certainly hope it. This is gay as hell. Even by nu-standards.

Also I guess beastmen can just not be chaos anymore, woopdie doo. Man I fucking love retcons.

They are described as furry lizardmen more than tiger beastmen

they're supposed to be another race created by the old ones, rather than eastern themed Chaos beastmen as I would have expected
I don't like them either.

There's just nothing funny, dark or weird about Cathay. It's all culturally sensitive fantasy baby food.

GW no longer care for its lore

they're the exception that proves the rule

This, along with today's AdMech release (https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/hd2ygsuz/defend-the-cadian-gate-with-the-archmagos-terminus-and-new-skitarii-heavies/), have left a real sour taste in my mouth.

I reckon this is the turning point. In a couple years when American Marxism (equality based on status, not class) has fully engulfed the hobby, I'll look back and say "THAT was when GW went downhill"

Straight into the ground like a fuckin dart

Lad. It's embarrassing for you to think GW was in any way not "downhill" until today. Warhammer has been in the shitter for about 20 years now.

I wonder how much overlap the Total War playerbase has with the tabletop playerbase. I know that the game got me into the wargame. I imagine it's their testing ground now.

Yes, and today is the day it becomes official

>but muh what about Lizardmen ?
they aren't humans with a lizard head stuck on top, but rather regular lizard digievolved into sapient forms through turbo space frog wizard science. It would a shitty argument to make in this case
didn't Cathai get good raven men too? I'd swear those fuckers would be just another breed of tzaangor
>>
>>97569255
They're not even based on lizards. Proto-lizardmen existed, which were basically dinosauroids. The Old Ones uplifted those guys the same way as they uplifted some kind of hominin to humanity.

Old One-created Tiger men are such a fucking stupid idea.

tigermen have always been non-chaos
but they're not beastmen anymore, which is stupid

>Proto-lizardmen existed, which were basically dinosauroids
I didn't know that, I thought the base lizardmen were some kinda of big iguana. Cool to know
>Old One-created Tiger men are such a fucking stupid idea
I hear you, anon. It makes no sense in-setting, considering that every other form of beast-man hybrid is Chaotic

>>97570033
well, maybe they did know? Or maybe they just read between lines and saw were GW were going; after all, tiger men are another stapple fantasy race, perhaps not as used as others. They took a guess at what was going on and got it right
>>
>>97566597
The fanmade ones look better
>>
>>97570891
>tigermen have always been non-chaos
They literally originate from the 6e Beasts of Chaos book from a section entitled 'Beastmen outside the Old World'.

>Tigermen without Ind
The only upside to this bizarre decision is that this will give more tools to the public for when someone makes a full-formed Kingdoms of Ind mod. I'll never use them in Cathay, I will never buy this DLC, but it will be fun seeing Indish AI factions with them slotted in as mercenaries.

Games Workshop/Creative Assembly are nowhere near based enough to make non-chaos beastfolks attractive.
>>
>>97569255
And old ones couldn't turbo evolve tigers the same way why exactly? I like how you cretinos destroyed your own "argument" because the counter was obvious even to you clowns but the best defence you could think of "muh lizards unique" when in fact they are NOT and there are at least 5 kinds uplifted separately, never mind amphibian slann on top of that...
>>
Probably an unpopular opinion, but personally I think beastmen make more sense as an old one experiment that maybe got tainted by Chaos later on than something inextricably linked to it. Goat people and stuff are a staple of classic demon iconography, but I feel like Chaos has developed its own unique aesthetic over the years that's more cartoonish/eldritch and less reminiscent of real animals and such.

The timing reminds me of the square bases announcement when kow 3rd edition was announced.
Too close to not be a coincidence.

Does someone at gw have a hatred of mantic?
Or does gw fear mantic for whatever reason?
Why would gw fear mantic?

The single description of Tigermen of Ind I can remember from a BL novel didn't suggest they were anywhere near as civilised, armoured, and homosexual as these shitty things.

>>97575523
Turbotarded take. The whole point of beastmen - of all kinds and in all locations - is that they represent the world untamed, the primordial and wild place that existed before the Old Ones came and began imposing their will.
>>
>>97570033
Asian's depicted as dogheads is an ancient form of racism, actually.
>>
>>97575964
>Why would gw fear mantic?

Same reason they fear people who make and sell bits and stuff they don't; because someone else might make money on something they (GW) can't be bothered doing.

Also the way how UK IP laws work. If they do not shit on a fan regarding their ip and violently defend it like drunken father they could loose it.
The issue is GW shit is so fucking generic that usually GW ends getting their asses handed and everyone involved gets shits on their thanks to GW generic claims

>It’s really not. Much like everything surrounding Cathay it’s boring.
Pretending "nothing but human nobles with swords, human nobles with swords on horseback, human peasants with spears, and human peasants with arrows" is somehow interesting.
>>
>>97570899
>I didn't know that, I thought the base lizardmen were some kinda of big iguana. Cool to know
It depends on edition.

Go back to 2nd or 3rd edition, the lizardmen were once the ruling species of the planet before the Slann came from space and conquered them, reducing them to tribal barbarians that the Slann now use as slave-warriors.

5th edition, which is where we get our first official lizardmen armybook, made them a slave race bio-engineered from a mixture of salamanders (skinks, kroxigors) and crocodiles (saurus). They were genetically programmed to obey the Old Ones, and the Slann as their representatives, but they were still an actual race, to the point that the Spawning Pools were literally just the places where skinks & kroxigors went to mate when it was that time of the year (sauruses laid eggs in creche-caverns under the city instead).

6e is when the "lizardmen are biotech robots themed as mayincatec lizard-people" lore came into being.
>>
>>97581046
Now I know you are retarded, comically so. The empire however stood out the most because they were the human faction, with that being said they should have assimilated bretonnia and vampire counts in a better timeline.
>>
>>97581089
That's right, we HAVE the Empire. We don't NEED any other purely human non-fantastical armies as a result, because everything they might do, the Empire already does.

Bretonnia? Literally just "the Empire, but no artillery and lots of armored cavalry".

Dogs of War? Literally just "Empire, with shittier troops options".

Kislev army? Literally just "Empire, but with fewer and crappier troop options".

Where's that Estalia army? Nippon army? Albion army? Araby army? Norsca army? Oh, what's that, there's no such armies? Could it be that the Empire's very existence makes all of them superfluous as a tabletop faction?

Going all in with the crazy Chinese wuxia magic and dragon-related weirdness at least gives Cathay a distinct identity and a reason to exist on the tabletop.
>>

>Going all in with the crazy Chinese wuxia magic and dragon-related weirdness at least gives Cathay a distinct identity
except it didnt. They arent even wuxia, they're generic high fantasy slop.
>>
who ever they hired for chinese culture advice they should fire.
Look at chinese media, video games especially, they love grim derp fantasy. Look at Wukong it has savage chaotic looking tigerman fighting in pools of blood.
They don't have a problem with it at all.
Warhammer is THE dark fantasy grim gritty setting. Cathay should reflect that and not be squeaky clean polished and playing it safe.
>>
>>97581296
Cathay just doesnt work for warhammer, even as a concept. They should have just stayed as npcs.

Cultural marxism is form of revisionist marxism explicitly formulated for American social and material conditions by a group of people the Europeans were trying to kill that has made it's way across the Atlantic with American soft power and financing.
But of course the poor little brown moutbreather will blame everything except his own diseased society.
