>JITE gone
Owari da…
Meh I’m still gonna write that thing I was writing, if anything just for myself. Even if I had a massive motivation drain for JITE.
I should finish my UQ writefag, I don’t think I’ll do something for Star Wars.

Additionally, I’ve been watching the original Saint Seiya lately. MPs for this feel?
>>
>>97571476
Power level's too high for this general
>>
>>97571631
I don’t fuckin’ know man, I just started watching it, guys can at most break boulders from the 15 episodes I’ve watched so far
>>
>>97571403
I can't believe that Apo updated nardo faster than the guy that kept promising to make a new one based on it. Everyone was sure it was abbandoned. Do we even need a new version at this point since we have the update?
>>
>>97571674
The update doesn't fix any of the problems this general had with the original
>>
>>97571669
That was a shitpost anon. Golden armor guys can do crazy shit but still not anything more than what we already had here. It's just shitposting about the fact that you are a powerfag if you want a setting with more than street level power.
>>
>>97571362
I was mostly worried about avoiding a situation where I pick some enemies and some anons start complaining that I just got free points because those factions have no reason to be there.
>>
>>97571677
Those problems were dumb so I don't see your point.
>>
>>97571403
What's new/changed?
>>
>>97571688
Fair. I'll be working on a bit of a map and background document on the sector today so people have a stronger basis to make their characters around if they want.
>>
>>97571681
I don’t even want a Saint Seiya MP, if that even exists. I wouldn’t say no to it if people wanted that, but it’s not something I’m seriously campaigning for. I just think it’d be cool to make a character inspired by Saint Seiya in any MP
>>
>>97571765
Does the Star Wars MP allow battle droids? Or Jedi Temple Guards? I always thought those were really cool with their yellow pikes
>>
>>97571769
>>97567412
>>
>>97571769
Droids are possible with Race (Other) and Non-Force Sensitive. Temple Guards are Sentinels IIRC. It's vague enough to do your own thing or emulate something that's there. We have a Droid character already leading some of the CIS armies.
>>
>>97571674
The only think this update honestly changes is the new equipment points system. Everything else is new stuff that we could easily have done with our usual custom jutsu allowance. So if you want to play Apo's anyway, sure? The new version was different by design for a different vibe rather than an update.
>>
>>97571631
Shut the fuck up mudcore bitch
>>
>>97572139
Stop replying to yourself
>>
>>97571677
What problems still need fixing? I changed the Perks so that they grant an upgraded Jutsu (that's what the ^ means) and the Companion Perks now can grant points instead. I'm super busy with work for the next few weeks but I hope to at least finish the last page of the Items Section by this weekend, and hopefully some of the Companion section, but I make no promises.
>>
>>97572257
Paranoid-kun, I...
>>
>>97572665
Mostly about drawbacks
You can take as many as you want, and since we play multi-player ocs instead of doing single player adventures, its easy to stack them for relatively easy points. If I was building Naruto single-player I wouldn't even look at things like tragic backstory, bad habit, or unwanted attention, but because I'd be building multi-player I can take those plus rage, instability, and whatever else I need for more points and just make an uber powerful edgelord. In the last run we ended up restricting the amount of bonuses drawbacks can grant.

Basically, what is considered taking away agency/free will and messing with your personality in cyoag, is easy points for classic character flaws in here
>>
>>97572866
>easy points for classic character flaws
even our mcyoag authors do that albeit
>>
>>97572665
'Fixing' is the wrong term because it's not broken. As the person making the alternative, I like the cyoa, but feel like it has multiple issues for multiplayer is all. Chief amongst them;

1. Narrative Perks/Drawbacks inherently don't work in mcyoa as they're meant to be obstacles taken by the theoretical isekai protagonist to make their lives easier or harder - these things instead develop (ideally) naturally over time during a multiplayer setting. This works in the context of single-player and is standard-issue, so isn't a problem so much as a difference in needs. There's also a general Perk/Drawback imbalance, see Enhanced Body and Prodigious as the main offenders.

2. A commendable adherence to the canon jutsu as shown makes it very good as a power picker for emulating the manga/anime, but in the context of a game results in a weird mish-mash of jutsu that are either extremely specific or extremely broad (see; Illusory Arts vs. Needle Hell). This is 100% fine for the isekai single player angle but makes it difficult to balance in a multiplayer setting, resulting in a bunch of good picks and bad picks.

3. There's a general lack of progression for most of the jutsu; given the inherently and understandably superior nature of the higher-rank jutsu this makes it mechanically optimal to pick as many high-level powers as possible without 'building into,' it. While players can always just choose not to this causes a rift in multiplayer settings where half the players are building better, stronger builds because they're mechanically incentivized to while the other half are building fluff-oriented builds that would exist in the setting but are dramatically weaker.

It's completely unfair to say the cyoa is bad, especially when most problems I have with it actually work in its favour for its intent, they just clash with what I'd want for multiplayer games where we emulate the setting.
>>
>>97573048
Reading the update more closely to the previous it actually looks like there's a lot more prerequisites this time around so problem 3 has been significantly reduced. I'd prefer more reliance on Basics for Advanced but it's much better now.
>>
>>97572833
Not even related to paranoia
>>
>>97572866
Why would that need to be fixed? You can just make house rules again. There isn't even a way to fix that because it's balanced for singleplayer and makes sense with that in mind.
>>
>>97573192
There is a multi-player option in the cyoa itself and the author is here asking, so I answered.
>>
>>97571467
Anyone still making a build for this?
I might make a Padawan.
>>
>>97573259
I'm thinking about that love focused Sith, but I don't see an appropriate character as target yet.
>>
>>97573290
Barra is right there
>>
>>97573295
I'm not interested in gay stuff.
>>
>>97573308
You could make a girl.
>>
>>97573259
I was thinking of making a Sentinel, are Jedi ninjas a thing? What kind of functions could they serve? Also, what’s the consensus on making a Master against a Knight? Are Masters too strong?
>>
>>97573312
I think it's just about what role you want the character to fill in the MP. We had masters, knights, and padawans together in past runs. Even some masters who were on the jedi council
>>
>>97573312
Sentinels are the Jedi Rogues to the Knight's Warriors and Consular's Mages so making a ninja-like Sentinel is right up their alley, yes. They're the sneakiest and most active kind of Jedi who often do social or stealth missions and their Sith equivalent is literally called the Assassin (as opposed to Warrior for Knight and Sorcerer for Consular).
>>
>>97573310
Even if I did, that dude's canonically gay, and a smuggler doesn't seem like a right target.
>>
>>97573259
I am making a knight but he's gonna be a strange one so I'm not sure if it matters. I decided to go for a sort of "mirror" ideology, probably a heterodoxy.
>>97573312
Are you the guy that wanted to do a spear guy? You can make spears if you want with "Other". Anyway we were talking about having a balance of all roles ideally so Maters are not banned, it would be in the rules if they were. I'm not sure if I want to make a master or not since my guy is supposed to be kinda self taught or at least not a follower of the Jedi teachings.
>>
>>97573312
>are Jedi ninjas a thing?
There was Asajj Ventress in the clone wars. I'm sure you can make a jedi version. There are stealth abilities for a reason.
>>
>>97573312
>>97573349
I think a mission even gives invisibility as a reward.
>>
>>97573327
Oh okay. I’m just trying to come up with ideas for a Sentinel. I think he could be a Fosh, I like bird things. I like the covert skills, I think it’d be cool to have a spy of some kind, a ninja with a yellow lightsaber.

>>97573340
That’s just perfect. Although would a Jedi engage in assassination missions? Or would that be more of a search and destroy mission kind of thing? I also don’t wanna toot my horn too much, so a Knight is fine, but I might pick Master if there’s a really cool power I want since my character idea is still up in the air so it’ll take shape as I go

>>97573345
I’m not super picky about weapon forms, I just knew temple guards are allowed to have yellow ones and they’re usually pikes. Honestly I just really like the colour yellow, it’s that shrimple
>>
>>97573345
I was planning to make a corruptable moody Jedi padawan
>>
>>97573355
>Although would a Jedi engage in assassination missions?
It was considered taboo and last resort for Jedi to kill at all but that's precisely why the Sentinels existed, to do things the Council considered necessary but were of a darker leaning than Consular or Knight work. They weren't expected to be cold, uncaring assassins though and may have been reprimanded for being too callous.

Knight probably makes the most sense narrative wise.
>>
>>97573355
>I might pick Master if there’s a really cool power I want
Even padawans can get master powers if they take them via Holocrons so that's not a problem if you want to make a knight.
>I just knew temple guards are allowed to have yellow ones
Yellow is a color option here. If we go by rules it's also slightly stronger than blue and green since it costs more. Nut limited to temple guards either. It's really funny to think of any kind of ninjia with a lightsaber, they are pretty eyecatching.
>>97573356
That's strangely fitting with my ideology, but I'm not sure if it would count as corruption. I guess it would be according to the Jedi Order.
>>
>>97573385
That makes sense. Yeah, I can see the guy having to grapple with his less than squeaky clean résumé while still clinging to the light, and maintaining emotional balance within himself to not be an entirely cold and ruthless killing machine. A guy with decent social graces too, I guess. Seems like a good path to start the build on, I’m open to taking a Padawan if anyone likes my guy enough after the build’s done (are we doing it that way?)
>>
>>97573400
Adding to this, would a Sentinel have their own ship? Just to figure this out, also how the FUCK do you even fight someone with beskar or cortosis as a Jedi lmao
>>
>>97573465
>would a Sentinel have their own ship?
It seems logical that they would. It's a job that requires mobility.
> beskar or cortosis

They're the metals that are resistant and entirely cancel out lightsabers and/or blasters respectively, right?

>>97573490

>>
>>97573465
>Adding to this, would a Sentinel have their own ship?
They'd probably have a stealth starfighter with a hyperdrive, yes.
>>
>>97573493
>They're the metals that are resistant and entirely cancel out lightsabers and/or blasters respectively, right?
Oh, they aren't. It's in the item section, Cortosis is resistant but not indefinite and Beskar is better but still not complete immunity. So the answer is, "Very patiently".
Or you aim for the gaps like in the video.
>>
>>97573525
Sure, that makes sense

>>97573500
Oh fuck yeah, that's awesome.
Question: how complicated actually would it be for a Jedi to be blind? Like, blind swordsmen sound really cool, but also I don't know how that would make things like piloting a ship. Maybe I should think of more feasible drawbacks, my character idea is still kinda up in the air
>>
>>97573563
Look up Miraluka
>>
>>97573563
Jedi can soft account for missing senses by utilizing their Force-senses but they still lose the sense itself. Being blind would make it extremely difficult to pilot a ship.
>>
>>97573259
Im working on a Duros jedi who's good at wandering, astronavigation, and exploration, since we're out in a semi frontier zone.
>>
>>97573563
Don Droids pilot ships anyway? Also I remember that The Force makes you a natural space pilot, somehow, so maybe he can rely on that? Honestly with good force sense being blind isn't much of a drawback.
>>
>>97573566
That seems like a cop-out, I read about them

>>97573571
Yeah that checks out. Maybe a prosthetic hand? I don't pick up drawbacks for the sake of points, I just like picking up drawbacks to spice up the character
>>
>>97573563
You can always get a pilot. Either another character or just a druid.
>>
>>97573465
Pick them up and throw them off a cliff with or without the force. Roll a thermal detonator underneath them. Force choke them. Use a stun blaster. Deploy tear gas. Ask the local police to gun them down for you.

There's many options for dealing with "armor, but gooder".
>>
>>97573584
>>97573588
Oh shit really? Having a droid pilot for this blind ninja guy could be cool, but I'm also thinking it might be a bit hard to go into social situations as a blind dude. Makes you stand out, which Sentinels shouldn't, right?
>>
>>97573588
>just a druid.
How the hell do you find one of those in space? And why would they know how to pilot a spaceship?
>>
>>97573602
I remember one of the Extended Universe books had a planet that grew living spaceships like plants. I don't remember the name of the book or the planet, but presumably from there.
>>
>>97573599
"I hear space is really cool this time of the year"
>>
>>97573584
The force makes you more in tune with the orientation of your ship and the location of other nearby ships, as illuminated by the living beings within them. It can also help you predict what maneuvers an opposing fighter will use in advance. It's possible but unlikely that the force will let you push your craft harder than it should go like the force lets you push your body harder than it should, but boosting machines is probably a master only thing. Harder than boosting flesh which has a better connection to the force.
>>
>>97573465
>Just to figure this out, also how the FUCK do you even fight someone with beskar or cortosis as a Jedi lmao
It's funny, I was making a Bounty Hunter with Beskar armor and thinking "how the fuck do you even fight against a force user"
>>
>>97573656
Shotguns, mines, hostage situations and being horny.

https://youtu.be/UPeI4mX8Nus
>>
>>97573656
Nta but I had the idea to make an anti-Jedi guy with vibroknives reinforced with Beskar. Does nothing for the Force but makes fighting against lightsabers possible, for a while.
>>
>>97573622
>as illuminated by the living beings within them
I'm not sure it has to be living beings. Jedi were doing well against droids.
>>
>>97573602
Fuck, I meant a droid. I hate Samsung keyboard autocorrect.
>>
>>97573656
Flame works, right up until the jedi figures out they can push it backwards onto you. The real answer is traps, since they don't give off a force signal or any kind of killing intent. You might not be able to snipe a jedi, but a well placed landmine will drop them like anyone else.
>>
>>97573701
Minus the parts where they can reinforce their bodies / see visions of the future. It's more like you can get lucky with traps rather than them being reliable.
>>
>>97573717
Most Jedi don't have all of the abilities that make them hard to kill, those that do might even be missing critical normal skills as HK, Kreia and some other Jedi-killers have been noted. They're much, much more difficult to kill than normal people, but they still die all the time.
>>
>>97573656
Really. Big. Missiles. They can put up all the force shields they want, but they're still going to be turned into jelly from the shockwave, assuming the explosion doesn't just hurl their force bubble into the stratosphere like a hamster ball at 50 G's acceleration.
>>
>>97573728
I agree with that, yeah. I'm mostly saying it's not as simple and clean-cut as 'just use traps, they have no defenses against that'. It more comes down to a case-by-case basis where the Jedi-killer needs to figure out what his target's weaknesses are.

Honestly Star Wars is a style I'm still looking into for design work. I might need a bit more time to pump out a cool character design. Maybe the bird race isn't working after all? Since the birds are apparently rare, so he shouldn't be drawing attention as a ninja

Seemingly ever whimsy and joyous, but also undoubtedly afflicted by the mental degradation and violent psychosis his species suffers from as they age. Yarn is a being of almost childlike wonder. His homeworld's destruction is like ancient history to the galaxy but it still feels fresh to him because he spent almost all that time since then in healing hibernation. His attachment to these memories and inability to let go feed his insanity more
He is force-sensitive but unaligned, and never formally trained. He got where he is by instinct and self training. He is painfully aware that what little sanity he has left requires effort to mantain, or else he will probably become a monster.
His weapon is as peculiar as he is, he carries a lightsaber emitter concealed within his own boneless anatomy, and it projects a curved glaive-like blade that he can erupt from himself, like from an arm, or torso. this is achieved by moving it around his body thanks to his unique physiology and telekinesis

Teamwork makes the dream work
Joking aside I imagine it's roughly proportional, ie if you left your team of 6 guys you'd be worth 5 or 4 of them so they'd still be able to beat you in a fight, though you could maybe beat them too
>>
>>97576701
Sure, that makes sense. My concern would be with someone that is so powerful that he doesn’t need the team and just steamrolls other teams, but I personally have zero interest in breaking away from a team. I’ve also never done a proper PvP game so it might be fun, but would someone have to host it? Gonna be real this is just my backdoor into making a Saint Seiya guy. This thing has like 40 pages so what do I look into in order to get magic armour?
>>
>>97576960
Maybe the UBW ability would work for that, selecting armor or bows. There's also a mini version you can see before the ability list really starts. If we decide to go full cowardice and featherweight only, you could still use it too.

Cyborgs are perfectly possible as Jedi. But, almost any time prosthetics are mentioned, loss of Force power is also mentioned.

That being said, I would imagine there would be a difference between replacing a limb or an organ versus adding a memory chip to your brain, reinforced subdermal plating to your skeleton, or a concealed compartment in your arm or whatever.

If you haven't actually lost the original part of you, it shouldn't interrupt the flow of the force within you.
>>
I'm new to this whole mcyoag thing, what is it, how do I join exactly? Usually from the builds I've done in cyoag it ends once I'm done with my build, so do you guys roll or use some other system for resolving stuff afterwards or what?
>>
>>97577278
The easiest way to join is to pick a cyoa at random. You then defend this cyoa to the death, demanding it be played at all times and by all players. The very existence of any other adventure or opinion is punishable by death, which you will enact by relentlessly spam posting, trolling, false flagging and generally accusing other adventures of being either lame, underpowered, overpowered, shonen, not shonen, capeshit, mudcore, slop, coomer bait, or [Buzzword_Of_The_Month], as applicable.

I hope you have learned something from this handy primer, and enjoy your stay with us here in crab bucket hell.
>>
>>97577246
>Cyborgs are perfectly possible as Jedi. But, almost any time prosthetics are mentioned, loss of Force power is also mentioned.
Its funny, because the implication is that with less free floating midichlorians in your body, you could in theory mutate yourself and create midichlorian organs to increase your total mass index and that way directly increase your total force power output.
>>
>>97577349
What? How did you come to that conclusion?
>>
>>97571467
If we are not playing with companions, then you should agree on rank for builds. The entire point of taking Padawan is that you get a master to babysit you. There is literally no reason at all not to take master now.
>>
>>97577349
I don't think you can just bloatmaxx on midichlorians to gain force power. Feels like the sith would have tried that already, even if maybe the jedi didnt.

>>
>>97577365
Its explained in phantom menace. Its retarded lore, but Midichlorian count is free floating in your blood and body. The reason amputation makes you weaker with the force then is easily concluded to be less midichlorian count due to bodymass reduction. Also, Abeloth is a literal mutant tentacle monster that is astronomical in size. It checks out the more you think about it.

>The magnitude of the midi-chlorian count served as a measure of one's potential in the Force,[13] though there were other inheritable characteristics that could influence Force ability as well.[14] Indeed, though Force ability often meant a high midi-chlorian count, it was not always the case.[15] While some medical theories postulated that the midi-chlorians created the connection between more macroscopic organisms and the Force, some Jedi believed that, contrarily, the midi-chlorians were created by the Force to serve as the link between it and other life.[7] Midi-chlorian counts did not indicate an upper limit to Force ability; the possibility existed for a Jedi to achieve a connection to the Force on an equivalent level to a Jedi with a higher count.[1] Moreover, and in spite of the misconception to the contrary[16], a being that lost one or more limbs was not necessarily reduced in the Force—any such reduction in power owed to the mental failings of the wounded Force Sensitive which could be overcome with willpower,[12] not to a loss of their potential.[17] The sole exception were Force powers like Lightning that had to be channeled though living flesh—and even then only the possible points of origin were restricted.[12][17][18]

Other than not wanting to be a Master because Knight makes more sense for your concept.
>>
>>97577938
I automatically disregard Masters to be quite honest. Players addicted to large numbers are weak minded.
>>
>>97577978
Masters that make sense as Masters are fine, I think it's easy to tell when someone is using the position to tell a story rather than just being the strongest.
>>
>>97577978
>>97578014
I still have no idea what the difference is even supposed to be. In the cyoa they just get potentially slightly more points.
>>
>>97578052
Masters can get up to 5 enemies with points. That's potentially upwards of 70 points if you choose maximal rewards, which is considerable. Half a dozen perks, multiple extra force powers, a fully kitted custom starship, all are possible with enemymaxxing.
>>
>>97578070
Yes but that's just 1 more than knights, it's 15 points at most if you minmax. That's not much. All the locked stuff can be gotten with Holocroms, and you still have to pay for the powers so masters only get 1 power at a discount essentially, if you want max powers you still need to buy 3 Holocroms. All things considered it's not that much, mechanically at least. If we are running it as a force multiplier (no pun intended) then things change, but I'm not sure anyone said they wanted to do that?
>>
>>97578070
The downside is of course intended to be that a bunch of dudes form the "dudes that hate your guts and would like to see them outside of you" coalition. In practice, it doesn't seem to matter much.
Maybe we should increase how much builds are disliked by other player builds based on the number of enemies they take?
>>
>>97578117
That would make sense. Enemies should be whispering/ordering/bribing players to oppose players they hate.

Speaking of, been working on graphics and ideas for the Sector. This is a stripped down version of the map that doesn't look pretty but also doesn't take five thousand hours of half-remembering how to work with photoshop so;

The entire Sector used to be under control of the Not!Sith (really need to think of a name), with its capital being Uhto Superior. Since the CIS and especially Republic came, it's been broken up into territories. The Not!Sith and CIS are militarily allied - if culturally separate. Major conflicts are taking place around Uhto Superior because it has the Hyperlane Control Network, Ildos III is a nightmare death world jungle shithole that nobody wants to deploy to en-masse and Chac II has been swooped up by the Underworld (Hutts etc.) as a neutral zone for now.
>>
>>97578117
>>97578172
This only makes sense for neutral and allied players. If you are enemies of the same factions you shouldn't fall victim of bad rumors spread by that faction. "Jhon Force killed all the rebels" is not going to be percieved the same way by all factions.
>>
>>97577278
>what is it,
Collaborative storytelling in several different ways.
>how do I join exactly?
Pick a cyoa among the ones posted, better chack the thread to see which ones are active, and make a character, following any additional rules/limits described in the first posts. After that you can interact in many different ways, so called writefags are the most common, simply write stories/interactions between characters. Sometimes we also have in-thread interactions, artfags, discussions about plots and potential future interactions.
>so do you guys roll or use some other system for resolving stuff afterwards or what?
It's all vibes, logic, what seems most fun/interesting at that point in time. It's almost all narrative, nothing that structured. Arenas are an exception, those use some kind of rolling to be fair sometimes, but arenas in general are rare and even when they appear they almost never work.

Eh? Wdym Apo's game? Do you just mean rules? If so, the classics like "drawbacks can only gain up to 20 points but you can take more" and "elemental tax removal" are good places to start. I'd say we'd do away with the gay "you are the same level in regards of what you purchased regardless of rank" like last time and have it based off increases compared to average for your rank but that pendulum seems to maybe have shifted. We could do a bonus perk too.
>>
>>97579411

>>
>>97579411

NTA but honestly I feel like it isn't ready yet. Those item pages aren't even fully finished and honestly the update added less than like half a dozen new options to each section while the rest is literally just JJK stuff. >>
>>97579450
You have to beat Mumbomojo to use him which means he's automatically worf'd because of the nature of his abilities. Mahomungus is the biggest trap option in any media ever because he can only be used if you can basically oneshot him.

I'm unsure about the elemental tax removal considering most canon Genin don't seem to use any elemental powers at all.

I think we actually did the opposite last time and mostly disagree for other reasons but can work with it.

>I think we actually did the opposite last time and mostly disagree for other reasons but can work with it.
Anon I'm saying we DID do the opposite last time, we could do it again but I think some people currently disagree with it.
I'm for what we did last time personally. Just reusing those rules seems fine to me.
>>
>>97579425
I'm very cautious about playing D-Rank and then giving us a bunch of buffs. It feels like a disgenuous attempt to be playing C/B-Ranks in the Academy. It doesn't ruin the run and if people prefer it we can go for it but I'm not sure if any of it was actually productive beyond confusing/bypassing the intended power level.
>>
>>97579557
I people really want to make an overpowered genin, may as well just let people pick a higher rank and still call their build a genin. Let them fluff it as being an overpowered prodigy or something. Better to make it an option that change the rules to affect everyone.

We left off right after the Forest on technicality but also it'd be tremendously difficult to get people to run with the exact same story right after, at minimum it'd need to be a different scenario after the Chunin Exams and some anons have taken vocal issue with the idea relatively recently, but if you can get that running I'm sure some of us would come back, it might just be jarring for new players is my biggest worry.
>>
>>97579464
Resilient Regeneration is a lot less than Mahoraga's actual regeneration so at least its much more manageable. Plus as the actual user of the technique you know how he works and won't spend time letting him adapt, and we can freely adjust our build to be able to one shot and tame it instead of being just locked into trying to use Auspicious Beasts. Hell we can get Dust Release to do it pretty easily, the world of Naruto has much more accessible options to get rid of things like Maho than in JJK.
>>
>>97579594
>Personally I feel the elemental thing is required
Unironically Senanon's proposition way back of making Elemental Styles the Basic version of things like Sound Style and Ink Style was probably the best way to go about this. Make the Advanced Techniques about impressive uses of Elemental Styles but don't hand it out for free.
>>
>>97579596
If anything we should just reboot it and let anons reuse builds if they want.
>>
>>97579606
I kinda hated that desu, I don't see any issue with them being advanced applications anyone can learn
Didn't make much sense to me, and I never agreed with the basictism much
>>
>>97579619
Anyone can learn anything, the issue with handing Elements out specifically for free is it makes everyone an Elemental guy when a lot of characters canonically aren't and we don't give the same handouts for any other concept.

Like, why can everyone make firewalls and shoot fireballs but you need to invest to get advanced taijutsu? It seems like a highly specific buff that doesn't actually accomplish anything except give a free handout for abilities that aren't even ubiquitous. We wouldn't hand out Illusory Arts for free.
>>
>>97579606
What the fuck are you talking about? The "elemental tax" was about paying for walls and fireballs and stuff.
>>
>>97569710
Any updates to this? I've mostly been skimming the thread lately so I might've missed something.
>>
>>97579634
Walls and fireballs that;

>Not everyone in canon actually has
>There's no way to measure your skill in them except Chakra Flow, which dramatically inflates what the Technique does
>Are sometimes a specialty of characters in Part 1

I'm not saying they should be remotely hard to get. I'm saying handing them out specifically for free feels like a weird choice, see >>97579633
>>
>>97579633
>Like, why can everyone make firewalls and shoot fireballs but you need to invest to get advanced taijutsu?
You need to invest in chakra flow to do it, it's literally how the cyoa was in the non-pdf version btw lmao
>>
>>97579649
Sure but that makes Chakra Flow kind of spooky good for a Basic, no? And clashes weirdly when things like Sound Style are their own Technique. It's just a little messy and could be fixed with Elemental Style as a Basic.
>>
>>97579633
>but you need to invest to get advanced taijutsu
Let me know where it says you need to pay for each individual chop, kick, and punch
>>
>>97579658
>And clashes weirdly when things like Sound Style are their own Technique
No it doesn't? Elemental shaping is different and way simpler than a whole new application.
>>
>>97579659
I don't want to cause an argument if I'm coming across as argumentative, so I apologize if that's the tone that's coming across. Rather I'm unsure that elemental techniques are as basic as people say they are. Naruto didn't have them. Sakura didn't have them. Neiji, Rock Lee and Tenten didn't have them. They were kind of Sasuke's thing of the original Konoha crew and were a part of his specialty rather than a thing every Genin used.

In that regard giving people fireballs and firewalls without any investment feels like a really random freebie. And adding it to Chakra Flow makes Chakra Flow busted. Add Elemental Style Basic or something and it all lines up.
>>
I'll just let you guys sort it out and see if my build is viable by the end of it. If it's not then I just don't join, nardo doesn't interest me enough to think about it that much.
>>
>>97579638
Doesn't seem like it. A couple anons said they were making stuff but no update on that and the thread is now what you see so they may have moved on. I was stuck in my chart and had to step away for a bit, not sure if I should finish it or not.
>>
>>97579672
This. Kakashi specifically says at the beginning of the show that kids Sasuke's age shouldn't be able to throw fireballs, btw.
>>
>>97579688
Can't wait for the balance patch where I need to pay for being able to use my hands.
The way the base cyoa handles it is retarded.
>>
>>97579698
Agreed, the need to go to Advanced for everything is too much. But that's why I think introducing a catchall Basic for each Elemental Style works. It dramatically reduces the investment cost but still gives a measurable thing to invest in rather than give every character abilities that are considered extremely impressive and were a character's specialty for the first half of Part 1 rather than something everyone did.
>>
>>97579672
>Naruto didn't have them
Didn't have Chakra Flow until he learned Rasengan and then only used Rasengan, he's also an anomaly that's difficult to create using the cyoa
>Sakura
>Rock Lee
>Ten Ten
Didn't have Chakra Flow
>Neji
Used Gentle Fist for 8 Triagrams Rotation, not Chakra Flow

The "chakra flow characters" are like Sasuke, Kakashi, Asuma, Zabuza, Gaara who all use rudimentary applications of their element + some special ones. Fodder shinobi shoot projectiles and make walls all the time.
I really don't think chakra flow is particularly poweful for letting you shoot fireballs or make walls at a rudimentary level, especially since you can still buy those to actually be good at them afterwards.
Also making an entire new basic we'd just have in a rentry or something seems dumb.
>>97579688
He has brain damage because his best friend was an Uchiha and he should know they're supposed to have mastered fireball jutsu at the age of 5.
>>
>>97579582
Leaf is the obvious choice but if we want a darker tone Hidden Sound or Bloody Mist could be cool, otherwise I think it'd be fun to do some random village in the boonies like Hidden Waterfall or Hidden Moon. Ultimately we could just say we have transfer students from other villages to strengthen alliances or their village might not have a proper ninja academy depending on how small the nation is
>>
>>97579706
I don't think Sasuke's arts were meant to be rudimentary since he was pulling out what Itachi was using like Phoenix Flower, these weren't meant to be fodder techniques. But at that point we can just say he invested in higher level Techniques.

>Also making an entire new basic we'd just have in a rentry or something seems dumb.
I can see this, which is the main reason I'd be hesitant to do it. I personally think it does far more good than harm but can work with whatever the thread agrees on.
>>
>>97579718
>Ultimately we could just say we have transfer students from other villages to strengthen alliances
This sounds fine on paper but knowing anons we're gonna have several prodigy clanners with immense potential so it'd look really silly that the big villages are shipping out these kids to the ghetto.
>>
>>97579718
I like Moon, it does say they scout out skilled Shinobi from other nations
>>
>>97579736
It could be a dick measuring contest, where more talented ninja are showing up because more talented ninja are showing up from other nations and none of the villages can deal with being outplayed.

I was the one making a Feldspar intro with Kasumi but I couldn't get it to work and had to restart. Franchise canon is probably my least favorite part about the shared story thread so I've not felt the need to be too active with all of this going on. I'd like to see the chart done. Even if it doesn't lead to more activity for UQ, I'd still like to know more about our cast.

Has there ever been an anon acting as arbiter and running a specific storyline? I imagine it'd step on /qst/'s toes but namefagging and having participants roll to resolve actions seem like a no-brainer.

We've had arenas where one anon acts as dungeon master and some "arcs" before where it's mostly one anon writing a big thing with everyone's builds. I could link you a few.
>imagine it'd step on /qst/'s toes but namefagging and having participants roll to resolve actions seem like a no-brainer.
We typically don't do rolls in thread to decide stuff though.

This is a martial arts superhero/One Punch Man thing but you could still make a gadget man or Hulk-esque mutant without issue. It's technically the most active MP at the moment, I'd say?
MHA is also "a thing" but it's basically inactive and something you'd be best off ignoring. Long story short some guy just posts it for no reasons.

>Has there ever been an anon acting as arbiter and running a specific storyline?
We have longer chains of writefags made by the same anon, and every writefag is usually self contained in the fact the anon that wrote it decided most of it, barring some advice asked in thread. But if you mean the whole MP being run like a ttrpg with a DM and actual rules then no. Arenas get close, but they don't really work out well around here.
>namefagging and having participants roll to resolve actions seem like a no-brainer.
We don't really do that. We go more by fun and vibes than mechanical structure. Many anons dislike rolling and chance, others don't like the rigidity, either way we don't use that. Once again, apart from arenas.
Namefagging is usually reserved for authors and stuff like that. Unless you count the names people came up with to identify the regulars and some more recognizable anons.
>In any case, any capeshit adjacent ones that are active?
Ultimate Question was originally a Street Fighter like setting but this run was made to mimic the One Punch Man setting, so it counts. You need to make up your superpowers tho, instead of having a structured way to choose them.

>>
>>97579941
>Long story short some guy just posts it for no reasons.
It's been proven many times that it's not just one guy. Some anons genuinely believe that it will revive one day and some just don't want to let go of the characters they put so much effort into. It's not reason to join right now but it's not one guy.

>it was strange concept, one that doesn't seem to work really well for quotes

It's less giving up and more we have two camps with very specific opposing ideas that both have incompatible but established reasons so you can't exactly have a conversation that goes anywhere. One side is disgruntled enough to be making an entirely new game to resolve the perceived issues.

As someone who disagrees with the Chuunin Exams rules it's probably the one the most people are willing to stand with so like the other anon said, take away the free perk and do what we did last time, otherwise we'll never start an Apo run and are locked into the new game which some people aren't interested in.
>>
>>97580361
>Oh you get ONE? I thought you could mix and match? How expensive is it to get the fusions then?
It's a bit more complicated in this version as opposed to the last one, this one has Foundations and Powers and a couple more things. It's all at the end in the Perks section, normally you only get one, but the tournament can be set up in a way that everyone gets more powers. The King of the Hill mode gives everyone more powers for example, and one guy becomes the king with like 5 powers.
With 1 starting power you need between 4 to 8 points for fusions/evolutions. Some powers only need Ability, some need both that and the Foundation.
>>
>>97580384
>>97580401
Alrighty then. My vote's for post-Bloody Mist; still in the transitional phase between the bloody practices of old and more modern teaching practices. >>
>>97580387
>I prefer when the franchise acts as a jumping off point rather than a limiter of what's possible.
I see, same honestly.
>Is this for Phantom?
Yes. The main problems would be the robots. It's a bit difficult to determine what sins some characters would even have, but I was going for what they are most aligned with, even good characters would have some. For example Felspar would have traces of Sloth, because she could do more but doesn't want to stand out. It's not something Leif would judge her for, but it would still show up to his eyes.
Making them fit into quotes is also difficult, because he would have a lot more to say about, and to, some characters.

>>
>>97580444
>What I'm trying to know is what I'm buying when I buy something and how much of something I can even buy, because there was one particular perk I wanted
If you mean how many points you have then it's 0. The idea is that by default you have zero points and 1 power, which is both Foundation and Ability. To get more points you have to take drawbacks or bad options, some powers give points because they are weaker than others in the same category, some take points for the opposite reason. You can technically change all of this with the Custom Mode Special Rule, if you want players to start with more points or straight up more powers, but that's a sweeping change to everyone and not just you.
>>
>>97580462
There's like 5 sections to each power. If I take, let's say, UBW, how much of that am I getting in return for turning my balance of 0 into +1? And does that stop me from getting another power that gives me a -1? How much of the second power would I be getting? I'm aware I am very retarded, this happens to me with almost every CYOA
>>
>>97580471
What you get with no further investment: Foundation, Ability
Everything else needs to be unlocked
>>
>>97580471
You get 1(one) power in full, Foundation, Ability, all of it. To get more you need the respective perks, there is one for Foundations and one for Abilities. You don't get to have Balance Breaker and Domain Expansion at the start, you unlock them with time and effort. But to do that you need both the Foundation and the Ability of that power. So to get 2 power you need 2 perks, for a total of 4 points. If the power you get is lower than the standard you get points for it.
>>
>>97580470
>Custom Mode Special Rule
Do you guys wanna do that? I don't mind. Do we wanna do that, other 3/4 anons that have minimal interest in this?

So let me get this straight, you can choose any single power TO START. And from there, you choose drawbacks to get more points or grab weaker powers. And this could be different if we wanted it to be

>>97580489

>>
>>97580471
You get the Foundation and Ability; the Balance Breaker is something you can unlock.
>>97580495
>Okay, and how much does each one of the other things cost? I'd like to have at least ONE full power
You have to UNLOCK them IN-SETTING. You're a potential man.
>>
>>97580495
>And from there, you choose drawbacks to get more points or grab weaker powers
No, you still need to pay for powers other than your first. If you choose a Heavyweight Main Power, that gives you Foundation and Ability of that power, then you buy the Foundation of a middleweight power, that costs 2 points for the perk you used, but doesn't give any points back.
> and how much does each one of the other things cost?
They don't have a cost because you can't buy them. They are technically free, but they get unlocked with effort. See this >>97580494
>>
>>97580505
>You're a potential man.

So if you choose a "weaker" power as your main power, are you cooked?

>>
>>97580495
>Do we wanna do that, other 3/4 anons that have minimal interest in this?
Satrting with 2 powers seems a bit much, but having a small positive balance of 2-4 points we can do other stuff with sounds good. You can use them for another power, or you can use them for something else. Did we even decide on a weight class?
>>
>>97580531
>So if you choose a "weaker" power as your main power, are you cooked?
You get 2 points for every tier below and have foundations that boost what you can use via the systems you train in the tournament like Chakra, Haki, Ki, Nen, Cursed Energy...
>>
>>97580536
See that's what I was wondering, but I wasn't sure if I should ask. I'm fine with heavyweight unless you guys want something less than that. I'm also okay with having a bigger balance but no second power.
>>
>>97580536
My build works with any weight class, so I'm good with whatever. I dunno what to pick with my last 4 points though if we do Heavyweight, and can't imagine what I'd buy with any other points if we get a positive balance beyond the cyoa.
I kinda want to fo heavyweight though so my featherweight CHAD can show off how cool he is when he wins.
>>
Man, even with the improvements compared to the first Isekai Tournament it's still confusing as fuck. Wasn't even really all that invested making a build but to even understand how to make one had to read the CYOA three times over. Feels like you can't do anything without points but at the same time adding more points would make stuff too broken as some abilities really are just better. As far as I can see it's really not even about the powers/abilities themselves that you want, its far better to shore up with a good Foundation instead and boost your talent or similarly augment yourself with perks instead.
>>
>>97580531
>So if you choose a "weaker" power as your main power, are you cooked?
That's what Balance Breakers are for. Also you do get other things for it, points for Talent/Perks and items.
>Say, what if I wanted to grab the Context Free perk?
You mean Context Out? You just need 3 points for that, gained in any way you wish, because natural systems are not counted as powers. You can take drawbacks, or start with a weaker power.

I think the rules should be no points gained, heavyweight, drop in only, and then that bounty-team scenario proposed (so not KotH or Jumpchain) if anyone doesn't have issue with that.
>>
>>97580547
I forgot what class my build was, I need to check. I'm also tempted to gamble for it but that's a different story. I would go for middleweight to avoid conceptual bullshit but some cool powers are locked behind that so maybe Heavy is better.
>>97580551
>I dunno what to pick with my last 4 points though if we do Heavyweight, and can't imagine what I'd buy with any other points if we get a positive balance beyond the cyoa.
You can just not spend them like the CHAD he is right? Nobody says your balance need to be 0, just above 0.
>>97580554
I think I prefer the original, it was simpler. And the best strategy depends on Class, some powers really can't be compared. Just rush some of the Evolutions/Fusions, some of those are pretty much just omnipotence.
>>
>>97580591
>Just rush some of the Evolutions/Fusions, some of those are pretty much just omnipotence.
Oh yeah for sure. That's exactly why getting more points is something I'm against because it just makes those combos way more accessible. Also, Heavyweight seems a bit too much as even though the abilities aren't usually unstoppable to the lower tiers, it opens the box to some of the bullshit other options that can be taken in a Heavyweight scenario, like Infinite Stone.
>>
>>97580576
I would add 2 points to this. Otherwise I'm fine with it.

I don't even know what to go for. I know I want Context Out to get the Saint Seiya power system, and I want either UBW or Gate of Babylon to get the Saint Seiya armours. I checked, and the Cloths are things that were made with the assistance of Athena in that story, but they were still made by humanity, so they should count under Gate of Babylon's no gods allowed rule. Unless someone tells me that crossovers don't work that way and I'm a chump. Whichever tier should work, I guess with UBW I can just say I'd specialise in armours or something
>>
>>97580620
We could go with Extra and Drop In, but Insert is just strange. Do we really want to write someone possessing Naruto or Ichigo?
>>
>>97580620
I mean it doesn't really work with the setting of the proposed scenario.

The description of Unlimited Works specifically says that you can choose Armor, so I would say that's the best fit there. Alternatively, or on top of that, you can get Dual Foundation to create a hybrid Foundation with UBW and something more based on defense to really specialize in armor.
>>
>>97580327
I was for the minor village because it required the least amount of canon knowledge. I don't know what the bloody mist is

As Sera awoke one morning from uneasy dreams, she found herself transformed in the ruins of her house into a gigantic robot.
She lay on her back, which was harder than armor-plate, and, raising her head a little, she could see the corpus of iron that had cracked the floor, vivid red from mingled paint and blood. The bedding was hardly able to cover a fraction of it, and seemed ready to tear at any moment. For miles around, all that was left was devastation.

>*ALARM SIRENS*
>[I'M-I'M SO SORRY, THIS IS LIKE AS QUIET AS I CAN GET]
Sera is (was) a completely normal, slightly nerdy girl. By pure cosmic accident, she has become a titanic engine of slaughter whose only purpose is the destruction of all her foes, a divine calamity cast in metal and recruited into an endless war. Total bummer, absolutely ruined her shot at a prom date.
Her wish is to turn into a human again, leave the bounty hunting behind, and maybe find a cute guy. At this point she'd take two out of three.

Likes gardening and sloppy romance novels. Doesn't like the sounds cars, buildings, and people make when she steps on them by accident.

Not totally sure I'm feeling it, but it was fun to make at least.

Hey that one guy that seemed to know more about this than me, if you're still around please correct me. I'm pretty sure those guys could still do their powers without their armours

>>
>>97580677
Mist has a caste system, people of the lower castes had to kill each other for the right to graduate.
>>
>>97580717
>I was looking at Boosted Gear
That's High School DxD, where the protagonist defeats the enemies with the power of liking boobs a lot, (I'm not joking). It's beru much more based on being a dragon and the power of desire, as in becoming an actual dragon by the end of it. Also it's a god level dragon, with conceptual bullshit powers, way higher than anything Sirio could ever hope to do.
>I'm pretty sure those guys could still do their powers without their armours
Not that guy, but I'm pretty sure they had something like that too, but they were severly weakened. I distinctly remember Pegasus doing his signiature move on some street thugs or something like that.
>>
>>97580749
Yeah I'm watching it right now, Seiya did his Pegasus Meteor Punch even before putting on the Pegasus Cloth. Seems like the armours only beef them up, but goddamnit, this is what I wanna make.

>god level dragon, with conceptual bullshit powers,
WTF? I don't know if I want that. I just want a baseline power to beef up later with the armours and also the Cosmo stuff (Saint Seiya power system) from Context Out (pretty sure that shit isn't too different from Ki other than like, the 6th sense stuff apparently)
>>
>>97580618
I would say 2 points are more for convenience, it's not much, it doesn't even allow fusions by itself.
> it opens the box to some of the bullshit other options that can be taken in a Heavyweight scenario
That's why I personally wanted to stop at Middle. My build works with Lightweight by the way, I checked. But they did change my other power to heavyweight since last time, because everyone was picking it apparently, so I will have to find a substitute.
>>
>>97580791
>But they did change my other power to heavyweight since last time, because everyone was picking it apparently
Prime Soul swept so hard that it fell victim to being reallocated to the big leagues...
>>
>>97580770
>WTF?
I was talking about DxD, the Emperor Dragons there are pretty much equivalent in power to god. Boosted Gear and Divine Dividing are literally pieces of those 2 dragons that slowly turn you into one, that's why they are Heavy. Did you not read the part where they imbue you with "the concept of piercing"?
For what you want UWB is enough.
>>
Is it even possible to get more than 2 abilities or am I missing somehing? It seems impossible to get most of the fusions kek.
>>
>>97580815
If you drawbackmax you can get a lot of Foundations and Abilities. Foundation Library(perk that gives more foundations) and Ability Skilled(Perk that gives more abilities) are under the Multiple Selection group, which means you can take them multiple times.
>>
>>97580815
You can take Foundation Library and Ability Skilled multiple times.

>>97580824
>>97580828
Ah, okay I missed that. Thought they were one only.
>>
>>97580807
I didn't catch that part, I guess.
What I might do is UBW + some kind of other power, hopefully something martial arts related or an element. With Context Out and some other stuff I should be building a fully-fledged Saint.
>>
>>97580824
Drop In actually invalidates a lot of drawbacks, forcing you to take the worse ones. By comparison it should pretty much give at least 2 points, if not more, since it has those drawbacks built in.
>>
>>97580843
Another thing you could do is technically cripple your power on purpouse by switching to a different foundation or not having one. But that's not really necessary with your UBW + Context Out plan. We are moving away from Heavyweight apparently so it's good to have a Lightweight power.
>>
>>97580843

I really think anons just underestimate how strong the canon characters were. The balance last time was fine as long as you used common sense when viewing stuff like sage mode on a kid who's pretty trash otherwise.
>>
>>97580866
The power system's kinda bullshity anyway, not in that it's super busted or anything but it just allows a lot of generally different stuff. It's Ki with extra steps, it gives a lot of physical buffs and at higher levels it offers things like some precog stuff but nothing groundbreaking, which is why I'll still probably take UBW to have the actual armours from Saint Seiya and maybe a foundation from something else? I dunno, maybe one of those Lightweight powers

>>97580887
That might be the issue though. To varying degrees the canon characters were prodigies and outliers that'll be in that world's history books. Some anons want to make a normal cast of characters for the setting that would have been faceless/nameless extras in canon. Some anons want their characters to be massive outliers in the setting akin to Naruto and Sasuke.

Though the answer is probably that both sides are retarded and it's just an extension of the mudcore VS powerfag shitslinging, and therefore the less we acknowledge them the better.

There are 12 power types and 10 powers, but you can't use two difference dice types in one roll and I didn't want to split it over two posts. So I'd just roll 2d12, and use the third die in case the middle die was 11 or 12.

I don't know how you could type this and not feel embarrassed
>some people want to make builds analogous to the types of characters the story actually focuses on
>some people want to be nobodies who were killed to show how strong a new villain is
>both of these desires are equally unreasonable
Regardless, the answer is to just top trying force everyone into one mold when anons always want different things. Even better, stop labeling anyone who wants something specific out of a build as some kind of radical.

Discovered to be force sensitive and sent to the Jedi as a hatchling to undergo training, Conwa is a rare instance of her species outside of their home system in the Corporate Sector. According to official files, Conwa was born without arms, as a birth defect. In truth, the prosthetics ports she was given and the deeper tech inside her body are spyware by which the Fosh-run megacorporation Petrichor Terraforming can keep tabs on the actions of the Jedi and the Republic. Their interests are not necessarily opposed to the Republic, given the Confederacy’s human-supremacist lean, but if the nature of her implants were discovered, it would be dire.

The dual-phase functionality does not increase the saber’s size, but switches which side of the grip it comes out of to fluidly change between standard and reverse grip. They contain a very basic protocol program that will deliver an electric shock to anyone but Conwa who picks them up.

NTA But what do we count as the bullshit options? Same thing as the guy who mentioned scaling down all the options, are you going to look through 48 powers and determine what are "fair" and what aren't?
>>
>>97581014
I don't know anon, it was a genuine question. I'm all for gentleman-ing it personally, I think it takes real malice from an anon to really make a super powerful combo in something for the sake of abusing such things
>>
>>97580941
Anon, the side that wants to be literal who fodder background characters doesn't exist. Of course we are making characters who are actually notable. This is a non-issue that only seems like an issue to people who forget how strong everyone not named Ino was. Even the kids who became irrelevant later on were prodigies. All the villains, mentors, etc from the earlier generations were busted. Everyone and their mom was making anbu suck their nuts as soon as they could toss a kunai.

It also never matters in any MP who is supposedly OP, because the actual most OP ability is having other people find your build cool.

Bonus point, Mech girl can stay. And Prime Soul is back on the menu.
>>
>>97581075
>That's a fair point. I guess we can leave it as Heavy.
Actually I was arguing that if we can't decide what are bullshit options from Heavyweight, we should just stick to Middleweight. I didn't say it directly but I thought it was sorta implied cause an unregulated section that people are already expecting to have problems is usually best ignored.
>>
>>97581075
In any case I'm personally picking UBW as my main power anyway so I think I'm cucked from anything higher than that, right? Unless I pick the extra perks and get UBW for full anyway while picking something bigger after that
>>
>>97581039
>because the actual most OP ability is having other people find your build cool
This. It's such a shot of adrenaline when someone calls your build cool and it doesn't even have to be canonically powerful or complicated. When was the last time you saw someone use the obvious power spike techniques and be called cool?
>>
>>97581083
I can go either way, but I can see a lot of pushback on it for several reasons. I said to leave it as heavy because this is supposed to be crayons, but if you can convince the guys that are already building with heavy to switch to middle be my guest. You can consider me convinced, and the other guy has a Light power anyway. That's 2 already.
>>97581086
Technically nothing says you can't use points to buy Foundation/Ability of a higher tier, provided it's unlocked. You are going for a theme, and I'm not sure anything else fits anyway so I'm not sure why you would even want to do it, but you technically can.
>>
>>97581094
I didn't even mean it that way. I meant that anons will like when you write your character doing cool shit or will even write your character doing cool shit themselves if they think your build is cool.

Focusing on minmaxxing is just setting yourself up to get butthurt when your build jobs offscreen in anon's writefag because he sorta likes the other build and is completely indifferent towards yours.

>>97581162

Yes? What determines if you get points is the tournament level, and I don't think we are going lower than middleweight so you have 2 points guaranteed there. Also you have 2 free points for the item section, it's not much but it does offer a bit of variety.
I'm tempted to make an amnesiac myself, considering the team setting, it would be kinda fun.
>>
>>97581178

>>
>>97581182
The first power is free, and gives points if it's lower class than the tournament. So UBW in a middleweight turnament would give +3 points, +2 because it's a lightweight and +1 more because it's a weak power in general.
>Either way when you get something with its price you pick either ability or foundation, right?
technically yes. Both perks cost 2 points, but you can get both perks for 4 points to get essentially a second power.

First power isn't free unless it lacks a +1 or -1 on it. Powers within tiers vary in strength which is why some reward you for choosing them with a small bonus, or cost a point because they stand at a higher level amongst the others in their tier. For your first power, your Main Power, you should get both the Ability and the Foundation. To get other powers, you need Ability Skilled, and have the matching Foundation to ensure you can use it at the same proficiency as your Main Power.

So for example if you chose Unlimited Works as your main power, you'd have bonus points for choosing a Lightweight Power in a higher tier setting, and you'd get another point since it gives +1. You'll start with its Foundation of complete mastery over your chosen weapon, and its ability of supernatural understanding over your weapon and being able to produce them with supernatural abilities.

Jewel, meanwhile, is the brawn. An Eevee with ridiculous amount of potential, even if Gigantamax or Z Moves seem impossible due to her trainer's lack of a balance breaker, she's taken on his ability to gain the powers of other worlds with practice, and even has some tactical acumen. Two heads are better than one, after all.
Her current moveset is Sand Attack, Tail Whip, Swift, and Helping Hand. But, as Pokemon grow infinitely, maybe breaking her 4 move syndrome will be one of the first steps they need to focus on...?

Evolution wise, Espeon is her preference, but Cobalt is adamant on Glaceon being the eventual choice.

-2, it's a cost.

All powers only list the cost for taking them as Main Power, of which you only have one. So yes, you do ignore the costs if you use the perk. All foundations cost 2 when taken with the perk, because the perk costs 2, like it says on the option. Same for abilities.
>it's kinda useless to have the Ability perk without the Foundation perk, isn't it?
Not all Abilities rely on the respective foundation, some can be used without.

>>
>>97575052
I don't even understand how to begin making a character, what actually matters.
>>
>>97581428
From what I can tell, it's mainly like a Jumpchain based CYOA. Everyone has the potential to learn power systems of different settings (but not sure if we've even decided our setting yet), but everyone's process of how they develop is individualized by their Main Power. It comes with a Foundation, which influences how you grow or what you are especially skilled at, and you can think of it like a Cultivation Foundation, and comes with an Ability, which is an innate power you can always use. For example, Discharge's Foundation gives you extreme output making your abilities hit harder and overall more destructive, and if we were in a Naruto setting it'd apply those traits to your chakra techniques making them extremely impactful. It's ability is to use energy to shoot beams which can home, alongside making any charge technique ten times faster to charge and having your powers harder to be suppressed due to the extreme power behind them.

Personally I'd start with finding a power you find interesting. You can find another power that synergies with it and take its ability or foundation, or both, or focus on your perks. It's pretty much just in what you want to achieve. I'm personally making a straightforward build for raw stats/efficiency so I don't have to think too hard, but you can easily exploit other powers with their hax. It's effectively just a game of how far do you want to push your power.
>>
>>97581370
I don't see any issue. Honestly, if you also wanna do a humanoid Pokemon, you can just take one of my guys Pawns from Evil Pieces if you're okay with that.

The Adversary is the most hated being in [Insert Setting].
It's murdered, killed, stolen, raped, jaywalked, arsoned, poisoned, tax evaded, streaked in church, driven drunk through school zones, engaged in medical malpractice, made baby Jesus retarded, and even posted it's unfiltered dogshit opinion online. Somehow, everybody seems to have a story about how it's personally managed to ruin their fucking day.

The Hosts, seeing potential in the it's powerful abilities, pushed the Adversary aside and installed a kind and gentle soul at the helm. But you don't believe the lies. You've seen it looking at your car - it's totally gonna crash it into a school again.

>>
>>97575052
I'm about to blow my brains out, I got so caught up in making a build despite saying I had no interest in multimedia slop like this, and started to really scrounge for mechanics. I went from having a build in mind, to ditching it when I thought it was too expensive and making another, fully completing that other build, just to learn you only need the abilities for power fusions. Then I learned the -1 +1 on powers also applies to buying the ability or foundations which really opens and closes a lot of doors because that makes shit range from only costing -2 for the entire power to -6.

I fucking hate this CYOA so goddamn much. It's like if they purposefully chose to make it the most obtuse presentation without just devolving into juggling a hundred calculations.

Dumb question, what does drop-in actually do? Is it an actual isekai situation, compared to being part of an actual setting? Does that mean you have meta knowledge?
>>
>>97582644
>what does drop-in actually do?
For the original it's self inserting. For us essentially yes, but it's up to you how you handle it, you could have meta knowledge, or you could be a random guy that never saw a single anime. The main difference in our case is that a drop in has no connections in the world while an extra does. I think both can be interesting, but balance wise it's not that good.
>>
>>97582644
>>97582780
They're all self-insert isekai options, drop-in just drops you in without anything else
Extra gives you a fabricated backstory in case you care about that
Insert has you taking over a canon characters body
>>
>>97582644
On top of what other anons already touched on. Drop-in usually has the added benefit of you getting to keep all your knowledge of the setting. Its the least Ego-death invasive isekai and most shonen anime work on the concept of "Drop-in".
>>
>>97582780
>>97582947
Just so you guys know, you still keep your metaknowledge with extra and insert, just mentioning it because you seem like you're implying it's a drop-in only thing
>>
>>97583016
I was talking from the perspective of what we do. In our case Extra would just be a character already there, not an isekai. Also drop in can be used to make other kinds of isekais since it's not self inserting anymore. Like a medieval knight ending up in modern times.
The original cyoa and how we use them are different.

Known in life as an orphan with nothing to live for, something or other caused him to reincarnate in this world of strife through great determination. Now known as a Gold Saint, Riku of Sagittarius, he’s a brave warrior with an affinity for armour, and domain over a mysterious power he refers to as Cosmo. Riku is cocky, brooding and he’s determined to never return to his old life – if he’s even still alive, he can’t remember why he’s here –, and his wish is to find a place in the multiverse where he truly belongs. However, he’s loyal and wants to genuinely help out his team. Despite being the Piccolo of the team, he loves his Riolu to death!

Riku has access to the power of Cosmo, a system similar to Ki or Nen. It allows him to power up his attacks, and do some bullshit things like fly, empower himself, shoot beams or heal. As a Golden Saint, he is at the pinnacle of what a Saint can achieve (save for the heaviest hitters), achieving the Sixth and Seventh Senses. He can also use a wide variety of Cloths from that same universe, which have different characteristics. Riku’s main Cloth of choice is the Bronze Pegasus Cloth, which he imbued with Unbreaking from his Enchantment Books. However, his most powerful armour is the Golden Sagittarius Cloth, imbued with Mending.

>Everyone gets 1 extra perk. (So you have two perks)
>Only twenty points from drawbacks, (ONLY twenty points, no perks) further drawbacks are fluff.
>All Kekkai Genkai perks now only reduce the cost by 10.
>"Cosmetic" perks like Attractive and Charming give you 5 points, because no companions exist. Cool still only gives you 1 point.
>Free Jutsu Purchases/Upgrades gained from Perks give you the first 2 or last 2 tiers respectively on the PDF version.
>It's assumed that your skill level is normal for that of your rank for any of these unpurchased Basics: Unarmed Combat, Stealth, Subterfuge, Ninja Tools, Espionage, Clone, Transformation, Substitution, Utility Jutsus.
First Purchase of a Basic/Advanced/Hidden gives you an above average skill level of your Rank in that jutsu, Second gives you a REALLY above average skill level for your Rank, and 3rd means you're REAL good at it, same difference from 1st to 2nd.
>If you don't take any drawbacks you can take the Cool perk for free.
>You can be whatever age you want.
>In the Hidden Jutsu section, there are "(Elemental) Fist/Wall/Bullet/Whatever" jutsu. You do not need to pay for these in order to perform them.
>Special Skill and Weapon Arts may be purchased multiple times.
>Living Weapons are banned, ignore the rest of the items, you have an arbitrary amount needed to be a ninja. Enchanted tools are fine, though.
>You can make a C+ Build, they just won't be participating in the exams.

Of this I think we can all agree on

>Kekkei Genkai Perks Give 10 Point Discount
>Cosmetic/Companion Perks Give 5 Points
>Jutsu Perks Give 2 Ranks
>Cool Free (?)
>Special Skill/Weapon Arts Multiple Picks
>D-Rank (?)

The main ones we're primarily arguing over are Free Jutsu and Free Elements. I'm personal fine with a rendition of the Elements rule if it's pulled back to fundamentals rather than things like Bullets and I'm not entirely in favour of the 'Free' Basics but I'm fine if people prefer that. The extra Perk is kinda unnecessary and we have a new, improved item system to try out.

>ONLY twenty points, no perks)
This is just dumb. Why does everyone hate perks here?
>>
what is it about Naruto that attracts this
>>
>>97583509
I think it's because people here like naruto for different reasons, and like different parts of it as well. The two main groups clearly like parts of naruto that are not compatible with the other. The people that like pre shippuden naruto and the the people that like the rest of it.
>>
>>97583398
They're for two separate reasons. The extra perk was just a complete buff and the KKG change was in the same direction as Cosmetic/Jutsu changes to prevent the KKG Perks from being objectively better, IIRC.

Most of what's in the second post is Perk/Drawback fixing over anything else. The Free Basics/Elements are the more impactful and homebrew-y of the chances rather than essentially points tweaks.
>>
>>97583554
>Perk/Drawback fixing
We don't need that. Other than making companions into points, perks and drawbacks are fine as is. No need for pointless limits, let people take drawbacks.
>>
>>97583509
What the other anon said but also a few people are just stirring shit to make the game look worse than it already does.
>>
>>97583651
You can take all the drawbacks you want, just dont expect 50 points and 3 perks for it
>>
>>97583509
There are also a few brain damaged anons that throw a fit every time anyone suggests limiting builds, even if it's been done before and worked. See literally every time JRPG Traitor comes up.
>>
>>97583651
I appreciate the different viewpoint but would like your reasoning. These conversations usually shut down because one or neither side doesn't communicate and we fly off the wall into argumentative fluff. I'd like us to accommodate as much as we can but to do that I think we need to be more specific.

The primary argument for putting limits on Drawbackmaxxing is the extremely high number of points you get for drawbacks in this. With a budget of 25 (sans free Basics) and a theoretical increase of 40-50 for Drawbackmaxxers it makes Drawbacks an extremely exploitable resource, especially with the narrative ones like Fated Rival and the subsequent tree.
>>
>>97583686
>Drawbackmaxxing is the extremely high number of points you get for drawbacks in this.
It's not that much, and the price is being pretty much non functional. You can make a crippled character with a lot of power, but they can't use any of them. Drawbacks aren't free, I don't get how people here think that, they are all pretty heavy.
Taking away the rewards for making the characters shit makes no sense.
>>
>>97583686
>especially with the narrative ones like Fated Rival and the subsequent tree
That's not a problem with the drawbacks, it's a problem with the anons ignoring the drawbacks they take.
>>
>>97583704
>It's not that much
I disagree. You can easily triple your budget for D-Rank with points.

>and the price is being pretty much non functional
The concern is around the Drawbacks that don't actively hinder the character, for the most part. Having someone on the cast you really, really hate can net you 20+ points on its own. I agree with you for some of the others though.

>Taking away the rewards for making the characters shit makes no sense.
It's less taking away the rewards and putting a limit on how many rewards people can purchase.
>>
>>97583727
>You can easily triple your budget for D-Rank with points.
Yes and? You can't use the powers you get with those points if you take it too far. It's already balanced.
>The concern is around the Drawbacks that don't actively hinder the character,
All of them hinder the character, that's the point. If the anon that made the build pretend they don't have any drawbacks it's not the fault of the drawbacks, it's the fault of the anon. You are punishing the whole thread because a couple people can't read.
>It's less taking away the rewards and putting a limit on how many rewards people can purchase.
It's the same. It's an already balanced system that needs no change being changed for no reason.
>>
>>97583758
We're in agreement with our views on what Drawbacks should be, so the issue we're seemingly disagreeing on is if the Drawbacks are balanced or not. Can we continue from that?

The big ones, beyond things that people don't take like Baby Shark, that tip some of us out of favour are;

Fated Rival
Inherited Rival
Ideological Divide
Unloved

The first three primarily because they emulate the kind of inter-character connections that develop naturally and don't really have any downsides in that regard beyond getting 20 additional points and/or 13 and a Perk for pre-ordering your character development.

The last because it gives a dramatic boost in power for being a loner, which is an extremely common archetype and gives no actual penalties in terms of individual performance and is essentially free for Schizomaxxers who are already benefitting massively from things like Rage and Instability.

An alternative take would be to dissuade these kinds of Perks instead of giving Drawback limitations, at which point I'd agree with you that they're negative enough to allow for people to Gaarapost.
>>
>>97583803
Maybe make the loner perks also turn you into a target, not just being isolated? Create a real risk of the prideless lion dying alone and all that. Neither trusted nor tolerated is the murder hobo.
>>
>>97583758
>You can't use the powers you get with those points if you take it too far. It's already balanced
Only dullest kunai
You can spam all the jutsu you want even with stacking bad habit man of mystery distinct look unloved old wounds blood hate rage instability (this is 49 points, 1 perk, and immunity to mind reading btw)
>but but the rage tree means you can outsmart them
They still win by sheer point and power differential unless you think a genin can beat a kage who's sandbagging a bit
>>
>>97583720
Anon that's just how powerful work, they can't tolerate budgets and thus intentionally interpret drawbacks in bad faith to ensure they're not actually punished for those points. We've seen this for how many years now, across how many adventures? It is what it is.
>>
>>97583834
Something like this works in theory but also runs into a similar problem of creating an artificial character development plotline, ultimately managed by the anon themselves and other anons can't really hold them accountable to, that also imo discourages these things developing in real-time where ideally we're supposed to become each other's rivals, friends, mentors and stalkers.
>>
>>97583803
>Fated Rival
>Inherited Rival
>Ideological Divide
Easy to fix, we just band those specifically. They are the only ones that need this treatment.
>Unloved
This one fixes itself. Just like Irrelevant it pretty much takes you out f the story, turning you into a singleplayer build. People can take it but it relegates them to being only ever mentioned in passing if at all and never having character development. You take yourself out of the narrative, it's fixes itself.
Every other drawback has no reason to be limited because they give balanced rewards for the trouble they cause and also are applicable in MP. Stuff like Irrelevant, or the companion ones are things nobody would take if they want to be part of the story.
The tailed beast one is the only outlier there, that one may require some more tought.
> Schizomaxxers who are already benefitting massively from things like Rage and Instability.
Those can stay, without unloved they actually have to care about the people around them, it's part of the balancing act.
>>
>>97583846
And so everyone needs to pay for the errors of the few? Just start ignoring builds that ingore drawbacks.
Also I never saw this happen other than in naruto. In all other MPs I always see the opposite, people being accused of ignoring drawbacks when they aren't.
>>
>>97583896
Sure. I can see this working in a general sense. Discouragement of the more purely narrative drawbacks in favour of the ones that actually effect the character reduces the problem pretty hard. I don't know if it completely fixes it but it'd make the 20pts maximum less necessary, extreme drawbackmaxxers in general are probably a non-issue since they're ignored, so we only really need to worry about guidelines for players who are actually invested in the MP.

Might have to convince the others but I see your point.
>>
Isekai fellas, first of all I can't even believe we got like 3 builds, second, what are we naming this team? We need team jerseys!
>>
I don't like stuff like Unloved because to make it work, it forces other builds to act a certain way. Sorry anon, you actually can't be friends with that person in your class despite it being out of character for your super friendly genki to just ignore them. At least the rival perks are agreed upon by two anons
>>
>>97583951
Similar thoughts. Narrative Perks/Drawbacks work and are clearly designed for singleplayer, but in multiplayer scenarios both stranglehold any natural development and give people extra power for turning up with a pre-baked character arc.

There are some that work specifically like in settings where you have to sell your soul to the demon lord to become the bad guy or whatever but it's less clear-cut in most games.
>>
>>97583951
Unloved works if it's rebranded as anti-charisma and makes your character actually just bad at convincing or dealing with people, but not as a story beat.
>>

>>
>>97584013
I'm not sure who you're referencing off the top of my head. But basically, in MP, I think drawbacks work better if they're something your character is or does rather than something that happens to them. The plot happens to them because it happens to everyone, but if they're actively sabotaging themselves or deficient in some way it feels more appropriate to work with rather than pre-baked character arcs that you get points for but nobody with different ideas do.
>>
>>97583937
>of the more purely narrative drawbacks
Some narrative drawbacks affect NPCs more than PCs, those are fine because they don't encroach on other player's narratives and pose real problems if not ignored.
The rest is fine.
>>97583951
>>97583973
Not all of them are bad, only the ones that directly affect other players. Most Wanted is fine, it has actual issues to deal with but leaves enough leeway for other PCs to react accordingly.

All fair, we're in some minor disagreements but we're close enough, I think. Are you/is the thread okay with removing the 20pts limit if we ban player-to-player Drawbacks and have a gentleman's agreement for more narrative ones to be both more actively detrimental and to the PC's fault?

In my experience at least a small portion of shitposters are actually just anons who are either a little hotheaded at the moment or are miscommunicating with/being misread by the thread. Giving them a reasonable response and knowing not to reply if they don't simmer down is always the best option because it's no issue if they are shitposting and helps us chill if they're not.
>>
>>97584082
>Are you/is the thread okay with removing the 20pts limit if we ban player-to-player Drawbacks and have a gentleman's agreement for more narrative ones to be both more actively detrimental and to the PC's fault?
Yes.
>>
>>97584129
Well you might even have 2 extra points, given that you took the Foundation and Ability of Discharge. Since the point cost of the power also applies to every purchase of those, it helps your budget out in particular.
>>
>>97584144
>. Since the point cost of the power also applies to every purchase of those,
Excuse me what? Since when? How does it make sense? Nta, just really confused.
>>
>>97584144
Oh, I vastly prefer having EXTRA points to having taken more than I should. Uuuuh fuck what do I take now
>>
>>97584151
Word of God >>97581764. It is stupid that it isn't directly stated in the CYOA, but Power Costs are always applied when taking the Foundation or Ability. Apparently the vision is always taking the most expensive one as your main so you only have to eat the initial -1 cost and get the foundation and ability out the gate, then prioritize the free or +1 powers to get combos cheaper.
>>
>>
>>97584164
Could drop some drawbacks, pick up one of the 2 cost perks which are all good, increase your talent, or redo your item section and add your 2 point surplus to get a 3 or 4 point item since they are pretty potent. World's your oyster.
>>
>>97584169
To be fair the 20 point limit also has its issues like allowing Fated Rival, we're dealing with two dimensions of issues with the design here.

I don't know if you're shitposting or not but I'd just like to point out that being this dismissive and shutting down conversation has, historically, just left us without a decision and we don't start. If you want the game to not start or just have arguments, keep going, otherwise we can't really take your input into account.
>>
>>97584177
I like the drawbacks I took, because they're part of the character. I think I'll just raise the talent because even if Context Off states that you're one talent stage stronger with the system than your talent normally states, I have to make it obvious that Riku is at the higher end of what a Saint can be. I'll probably post an updated build next thread

>>97584012

>>
Nardo author sama, if you're listening, just remove the drawbacks altogether. People get their points dependent on rank or whatever, spend them accordingly, and that's that. Clean, simple, and we don't have 300 wasted posts of autistic shitflinging.
>>
>>97584247
Personally,
>PtP Drawbacks
Forces other builds to act in a certain way even if it would be out of character. Just getting rid of them for multiplayer feels like the best solution so that we don't need to inform everyone that we changed how a drawback works and that we changed the amount of points it gives. That's just making a different drawback at that point.
>Narrative drawbacks
Built for single player, multiplayer narrative should be progressive, not pre baked into your build for bonus points. If you want your build to have a story line that's like one of the drawbacks without the bonus points, nobody is going to stop you.
>20 point limit
I don't know if it's necessary if we remove the first two, so I don't have too much of an opinion without testing around with it.
>No extra perks
A lot of them are individually really strong and half of the drawbacks that give them are just "this one dude really doesn't like you" and that's it
>>
>>97584295
Apo isn't really invested in these threads and Senanon's already has its Drawbacks on lockdown built in so uh I don't know if anyone can year your prayers anon, sorry.
>>
>>97584312
I think pretty much the only one that gives a Perk for the main cast if we do 1/2 is Ninja Cancer, right?
>>
>>97584244
>I regret to inform you that I don't know, anon
A shame, truly a shame. It's a Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy reference.
>>
>>97584392
Oh, I might've heard that before, but I didn't read that book. I'm trying to read Asimov lately, Hitchhiker can happen some other time. I mean we don't have any other team name suggestions
>>
>>97584323
And possibly Most Wanted depending on if you define it as a PtP drawback or a general one. All the others would be gone I think though
>>
>>97584400
42 is the answer to life, the universe, and everything.
>>
>>97584431
This does do quite well to remove most of the issues. The only thing left would be someone taking 30 points of being schizo but we can easily ignore them if they're powermaxxing or use them if they're actually Gaara.
>>
>>97584400
>I didn't read that book
I saw the movie. The story of that series is a mess by the way, almost as interesting to know about as the work itself. But as >>97584436 said it's a funny joke about that.
>I mean we don't have any other team name suggestions
Mine was because I can't really think of an appropiate name, and we don't even know all the members yet, so I tought to just use the number we were assigned or something.
Hence funny number.
>>
>>97584448
So just removing the PtP and narrative drawbacks? If it works, then I'd be fine with it.
We'll need a list of them then so there's no mistaking (or intentional misconstruing) which ones are and aren't counted as such.
>>
>>97584511
Sure, presuming that, we still have;

>Extra Perk (Nay(?))
>Perk Points 'Fixing' (Kekkei Genkai is 10pts Discount, Cosmetic/Companion Give 5pts, Jutsu Perks Give 2 Perks) (Yay(?))
>Cool Free If No Drawbacks (Yay(?))
>Stacking Abilities ala Book Smarts, Special Skill (Definitely)
>Basic Standard Proficiency (Yay(?), I disagree but understand why people want it so won't argue)

I think the one thing we're stuck on is Elemental Base. I think most people agree we shouldn't be able to emulate advanced uses, but can do very basic things. The two opposing solutions I've seen are tie it to Charka Flow or make a new Basic. Thoughts?
>>
>>97584561
If you have any {element} technique, you can do other minor elemental stuff. If you don't, you can't.

More than just a startling fixation, to cut and divide lies at the core of Saku's being. She comes from a long line of bladesmiths blademasters who have pursued this goal from generation to generation, chasing the ephemeral beauty of the "perfect slice." However, this dedication has come with snags. Testing tools and techniques requires targets, and the Kirikami have historically shown little concern for morals and ethics when selecting them. Unsurprisingly, this behavior has not made them popular, to say the least. A more specific issue to Saku is that she has received the "gift" of a split soul. Her forebearers constantly whisper in mind, sometimes offering wisdom but often pushing her towards even greater extremes. Still, he has full confidence that it will be her hands that deliver, and desires to use this tournament to bolster her chances. Not necessarily through a wish— the diverse array of opponents who have appeared are themselves opportunities to refine her craft.

Her raison d'être aside, Saku is an incredibly direct and intense person. Not to say she doesn't have gentler qualities, but she often lacks subtlety and is over forward in expressing herself. Her most normal hobby is a love for cooking and will can easily get worked about when asserting her mastery in the kitchen, usually resulting in her watching those she's cooked for like a hawk to verify their enjoyment of a meal.

>>
>>97584906
I don't care about the weight limit thing, but the math is off.
Taking a main technique that's below the weight limit gives you +2 per rank difference, so Shrine would give you +4 if you're playing heavyweight, +2 if middleweight, before subtracting 1.
Also, the (-1) and (+1) of a power apply to each use of foundation library and ability skilled.
>>
>>97584978
We've had multiple anons admit to doing this already. Any evidence I might provide would be immediately dismissed by you. I know how 4chan works. Your request is meaningless noise and you know it.

3 out of 4 builds are middle weight, what the fuck are you talking about? Heavy has too many bullshit powers.
>>
>>97584115
Ok, here's my idea for the power system.
So the setting is >>97575159; a multiversal arena with different sectors based on different franchises. How many, idk. Probably at least like 12.
So what if in order to get access to power systems, you need to maybe buy them with points you get via bounties or complete a special "unlock bounty" in that sector to unlock them?
>>
>>97585046
I said the discussion didn't make things clear. Why are you so worked up?
>>
>>97585040
Elemental stuff isn't basic to the setting, though.
Sasuke started with the Great Fireball, and that's considered C-rank.
Elemental transformation is the step beyond just molding chakra, and it got introduced all the way in Shippuden as a major power up.

>>
>>97585086
Ares and Divine Dividing are both Heavyweight abilities, and Cobalt would be short 2 points after I counted out what he has if he took Middleweight instead of Heavy. 3/5 builds at least are Heavyweight builds so that's good enough for me to say that we're doing Heavyweight.
>>97585096
>doing the math they went for middle
That's not true though? Also, Riku has extra points anyway so he should repost his build.
>>
>>97583951
I'm not a fan of the narrative perks/drawbacks, because it forces characters/anons into a box. You're committed to an idea for the character that may not be the direction you wish to take them as their interactions with other characters change. Maybe a better fated rival is a build you haven't even seen yet, but you're supposed to be in conflict with this other build from an anon who dumped. Maybe your build becomes the type who wouldn't even have a rival like that. I've seen this sort of thing happen before. Being committed to a certain plotline or interacting with characters in a specific way/people interacting with your character in a specific way when the story hasn't even developed is not as cool as it may seem at first. Honestly, I don't really see the point in most drawbacks, since giving a character challenges should just be expected without needing a reward, but the narrative ones are especially weird for what we do here.
>>
>>97585105
>Cobalt would be short 2

The Ares build got scrapped, he rerolled into the Brain Transplant Guy. Then he rerolled that Brain Transplant guy again, build is now undetermined.
(Also I've been building around Middleweight but haven't posted my build yet, so that's my weigh in.)
>>
It's pretty obvious most were assuming middle by now and these are just a couple anons that missed the memo.
>>
>>97585143
Then it just goes down to 2/3 legal builds that are heavy vs middle and the middle one needs to update his build for more points anyway so it's heavyweight majority anyway.

I dont worry about Heavyweight powers, I worry about Heavyweight Items. Infinite Stones, Empathic Obliterator, Legendary Pokemon. It's a whole can of worms that I think we'd be better off without. Yes, no one has taken those options yet, but they are more than viable and can completely carry a build even against much stronger builds.
>>
>>97585387
Yeah it does, I'm just being paranoid about having only Lightweight powers if most people are gonna pick Heavyweight. >>97585465
>if you think everyone is going to play nice and shake hands, feel free to do your thing
That's the assumption. As >>97585508 points out that was the idea, and I don't really like PvP in general between actual PCs, it causes way too many problems.
>>
>>97585638
>Pokémon should be one because there's two people with Pokémon
Nta but I don't think that's the case? Pokemon are something the cyoa gives everyone as an item, the Pokemon themselves are separate creatures so they don't really have a system. We can still have a pokemon stage if people want but it wouldn't give any systems. Also killing pokemons for bounties feels weird, reminds me of Palworld.
>>
>>97585638
Yeah probably could just stick to popular series like Pokemon, Naruto, Jujutsu Kaisen, One Piece, Bleach, Dragonball, Fate, Jojo, HxH etc. just going by options that appear frequently in the CYOA. For others that come up often I'm not really sure how well they'd be incorporated, at the very least in regards to power systems, as they aren't exactly open to people or maybe I'm not familiar enough.
>>
>>97585394
We can just ban the items.
>>
>>97585672
I was talking about locations, mostly.

>>97585680
Yeah, recognisable places. I won't suggest any Saint Seiya locations because I'm like one of two guys here that has seen it lol but I say we should keep it to the things most people would recognise. I volunteer to make a map when we've decided a few locations
>>
>>97585680
We could make one of the systems the manhuwa one? You know the classic circled mages from 1 to 10. Or the sword equivalent. Not the classes and skills from RPG systems, the other one.
>>
>>97585590
Naruto, One Piece, and Hunter Hunter make sense since those are power systems directly mentioned in the cyoa. Naruto and Hunter Hunter lend themselves well to enemies existing too, with fodder ninja/hunters, zetsu, tailed beasts, dark continent creatures. One Piece less so but Sea Kings and like idfk Kaido could show up.
Pokemon fits in pretty well, legendaries work as raid bosses especially well.
Mario is silly but there's a lot of enemy variety so that's up in the air.
Bleach makes sense because Hueco Mundo is cool as fuck and Hollows are a thing and reiyoku is a power system.
Dragon Ball and ki is iconic but has low potential for bosses, going Dragon Ball Online style could work.
Kingdom Hearts has a lot of enemy variety, not really a power system unless we just learn Final Fantasy magic and classes with it which works.
JJK fits pretty well with curses.
FGO has a lot of enemy varieties, could stick to just London or Fuyuki or even do a Lostbelt.
Then anons can just add extra as they see fit and need to for their purposes.
>>97585672
Could be "Replica Pokemon" that are just emotionless abominations like PMD's World Tree, and let people use TMs for the power system? The stronger ones could become humanoid too Bleach Arrancar style for cooler fights.
>>
>>97585719
If you’re gonna suggest Mario then Sonic has to be a possibility too. A shitton of Badniks to fight and the occasional Chaos Emerald. FUCK now I wanna be able to learn Chaos Control
>>

>>
>>97585719
>Mario is silly but there's a lot of enemy variety so that's up in the air.
They are all fodder tho, they would get genocided even by basic light powers.
The rest is cool. Especially the pokemon stuff, because now I'm thinking of that hack where pokemon have more evolutions, so we can have strange pokeabominations too other than gjinkas, which are already a thing because of Cobalt.
>>97585742
This one makes a bit more sense, the eggbots and GUN bots can get pretty crazy in design.
Now that I think about it, should we make it so systems can bleed over? As in we can find a special pokemon that learned haki and shit like that?
>>
>>97585747
>Black Arms
I wonder how many remember those, they only show up in the Shadow game.
Iblis and the flames of destruction are cool too. And the Unleashed night enemies, the Dark Gaia fragments, those had cool designs too.

Bleedthrough effect based on location on the map, on the border between two zones the chances of encountering enemies with mixed systems of the adjacent zoes is much higher. Somewhere on the map is the clusterfuck zone, where a lot of systems converge so you get strange abominations there.

If we go heavyweight war of the franchises then that makes a lot of sense.

I just realised this is the only MP where making a Sonic OC is socially acceptable and I didn’t do that.

>making a Sonic OC is socially acceptable
it absolutely isn't
>>
>>97586044
There is an interactive Sonic cyoa. But I'm not sure anyone here will ever play it. Also what gave you the impression you could make a Sonic OC? The cyoa doesn't really lend itself to it and the other anons would still have a lot to say about it.
>>
>>97586249
NTA but it can easily be done, just take the Xeno option and be in a Sonic World. Slap on Projection or some other similar mover powers or however you want your OC to have, and there you go. Now I don't think it'd fit as well here for our tournament as I got no idea what power system the Sonic world has, and I don't know enough about Chaos Energy but it might be a bit too out there since its so deeply connected to the Chaos Emeralds to really be something people have enough access to.

Rolled 4, 3 = 7 (2d12)

>>97584197
Since it looks like we're doing heavyweight, and reinterpreting dice rolls afterwards is vile, I'll just rollslop this one last time and be done with it.
>>
>>97586276
Sonic does have several "energy sources" and several characters have some kind of power, but they all seem like outliers. Sonic is, well, Sonic, I don't think there has ever been an explaination for his power, Shadow uses Chaos energy, Silver is an esper, Blaze has fire powers, but they are all individuals. GUN has Chaos Drives in Adventure 1 and 2 so the power of the emeralds can be harnessed, but that's just local science not a system. I don't think you can get a unified system out of the franchise, unless you are willing to consider the Mobians as a whole as the sytem and roll the dice to determine what strange mutation you get.

alright how do I salvage this...

I missed the ascension arc of Buggy The Clown.
>>

Technically no rule against it here, but a reroll would be the easiest. Or you can switch the dice instead, nobody expressed interest in the vampire power I think.
>>
How are we feeling about the team so far? I think they’re cool enough
>>
>>97586044
I'm reminded that half of you are no different from Chris Chan.
>>
>>97586391
The team so far is Cobalt, Riku and Saku right? Because Rollanon already scrapped 2 builds and the next one is up in the air. He could have just went with Ares again now that we are back in Heavy.
Still I think they pretty good. Riku has a vaguely bullshit synergy with the character I'm working on, I didn't plan it but it turned out great.

A clean roll is better imo, once you start reinterpreting dice it turns into how far you can stretch it rather than working with what you rolled.

And considering we have a total of three builds so far, I don't want to be the guy who starts taking duplicates. Honestly kind of a shame, Split Split with Comedian has potential.

>>97586391
Bit early to say with three builds, but they're neat.
>>
>>97586424
Oh, the robot girl got scrapped? Crap, I kinda liked her.

Hey, if that works, I’m glad. Looking forward to seeing that build finished

Okay, I can do something with this. Maybe. Theoretically. Has every roll been worse than the previous one? Damn...

>>97586439
Yeah that was my favorite one so far, but it was technically super illegal (rolled on a previous version of the cyoa, the 'accurate' result would be Hercules, I think?) so it'd feel wrong to run with it.
>>

If only we could do this and just have fun.
