Do people ever play them? Do you actually play commander or do you just theorycraft cubes on /edhg/?
>>97575730>TQNo. I've always heard about these cubes but never got into it. I barely have enough good cards for my decks, and my collection is well over $20k for the past 17 years. Going for the 32 deck challenge. I guess once I'm done with that and done tuning those decks that would be the next step.
>>97575730>TQNo.Everyone tries to build a cube and maybe 1% of them actually make a good cube.
>TQI just build decks I think are fun and play with my friends. Sometimes I just come to /edhg/ to see spoilers, ask rules questions, and see what anons are complaining about.
I WILL wear diapers to the LGS and you CAN'T stop me
Do you play with banned cards? If so, how well does that go over with random pods?
>>97575803Play 2 Sol Rings, literally no one will ever know
>>97575803No. None of the banned cards provide an interesting enough gameplay scenario that I feel like building a deck around them or negotiating with a table on why I'm allowed to play them when they're almost certainly not prepared to play with banned cards of their own.
>>97575803>Do you play with banned cards?people are fine with proxies why wouldn't they be ok with banned cards?
>>97575824Because proxies allow you to play with cards that are otherwise fine to play. If you owned fetches I wouldn't think much about you playing them. If you proxy fetches I totally understand why. Banned cards are banned for a reason and everyone comes to the table under the assumption that those cards won't be showing up, real or fake.
>>97575824Why would I play with WotC's design mistakes when I could make a custom card and play with my own design mistake?
>>97575835>Banned cards are banned for a reason and everyone comes to the table under the assumption that those cards won't be showing up, real or fake.i don't expect people to have duals because they are expensive as fuck and not everyone is that rich but if someone says they have proxies of them i'm supposed to accept their blatant pretension of financial status? lol

My friend is building a Marvel deck. On the positive side, it will be way jankier than his normal sweatpile so I can run decks that are fun
>>97575835>Because proxies allow you to play with cards that are otherwise fine to play>i show up with 100% proxied blue farm>hey these are all legal cards, no banned ones here>therefore you should allow me to stomp you

Oh boy I can't wait for this totally-not-bait argument to shit up the thread again.
>>97575903>everyone i can't beat in an argument is a shitposteri accept your concession
>>97575835Proxies allow you to turn your brain off in the deckbuilding stage, which makes for extremely boring games. Show some consideration for the other three people at the table.
>>97575908Called it. Instead of rehashing your varioua anus poundings, can we just leave it alone? I have nothing to do with this retarded argument. I know what's up, you know what's up, pretend to be a good poster, yeah?
>all proxy fags should be shunned and removed from the game, including CEDH
>>97575922>I know what's up, you know what's upall you had to do was admit that every argument for proxies being accepted are also arguments for banned cards being accepted but you can't even do that tsk tsk
I'm cooking here bros, I just don't know where it's going...
>>97575926All wizards needs to do is sanction CEDH, and proxying outside of kitchen table will dry up, as will CEDH in general, which is good since it will be as expensive if not more than legacy and vintage.
>>97575921Magic only really starts when everyone has access to everything.
>>97575938>All wizards needs to do is sanction CEDHthey're going to start at the b2/b3 level first, but yesonly a naive person would fail to see that tournaments would be the logical conclusion of brackets
>>97575929I jumped in the middle of a random argument to tell you specifically to fuck off. Play banned cards, I dont care. Has nothing to do with proxies.
>>97575947>Play banned cards, I dont care either way.>Play proxies? You MUST accept them!kek

Not exactly an Egyptian God Card situation.
>>97575934this is just Inalla.decTutor spellseeker, and win with the simple 24 step combo

If sai is bad then why is it on the full art mountain?
I'm building Celes Reanimator for my high-power list. I'm running a few tutors, adding more as I can, but my big question is:>How many Persist creatures to run?I know it's going to be a weird balancing act between the reanimation spells, sac outlets, and the fodder creatures, but I'm trying to find the magic number for how many Persist targets to run. Too many and they're useless without Celes/Micky/Mothra on the board to loop them, and too few leaves me waiting to hit a tutor to get one.I also need some just quality creatures to reanimate in Mardu, in case looping becomes unviable. I *could* try running the Broodlord combo, or some Breach line for redundancy, but im not sure.
>>97576121>something normal is co-opted into something abnormal>this is totally the first time this has happened

How my Ninja Deck and my friends Mutant Deck look at each other with the coming upgrades we are both getting in the TMNT set.
>>97576208Based.
>>97576208Assuming the ninja deck is dimir, there's really not much that's been spoiled that's actually worth running yet despite all of the core set's rares/mythics being revealed. Like basically Super Shredder and that's it so far.

>>97576199I like this thing's forced block effect. Some of these older cards had some unique effects. There any other unusual effects like these that may go unnoticed? >>97575959Garfield's vision is irrelevant when everyone can go online and look up any card and buy any card.Do you play with cards you exclusively cracked from packs? Of course not, nobody does. >>97576512i bet it's a lot of fun playing with people who will throw the game and concede at a stiff breeze huh?whether you want to admit it or not you need at least one guy who will try to win for the game to mean anythingthe problem is you're confusing this with some cedh player in your head, when really all you need is a guy who will play to win even though he only has draft chaff

>>97575730Great question! I have a 6000+ card old frame only EDH cube. It’s basically all the old sets plus some new retro cards mixed in. It’s chaos, it’s fun. I wish I could share it with all you guys in person. It’s just awesome.
>>97577851Yes. Bring back whisper with this while anger is in the yard. Sac some boys, bring back something insane, I dont know, let's say spiteful sliver, then cast berserk on your opponent's creature and arcbound.
>>97577482Not that anon, but the AI is relatively competent on the PC version, but eventually you will learn their specific things they have trouble with and be able to exploit it. And the other tempo deck is the most played deck in the format, and has been for two years, depending on how you classify Rescaminator, which I personally lump into tempo around when psychic frog got big and satoru came out, but it's also the same deck using the descend goblin and is basically the death's shadow shell, so I could go either way.

>>97579113Honestly? If this is your first deck ever, bretty gud, but your payoffs are relatively low impact, and you'll struggle removing noncreatures. This deck isnt overly fast, and the card draw is kind of limited. The payoffs are also meh, like sure umbral mantel into balista makes sense, but you have no real way of getting either half other than lucking into it, and the rest of the deck is pulled into too many themes at once. Splash of goblins, godo, equipment matters, power matters, dorks, cost reducers. It's a bit much. Also cut that pay mana tap land thing, a basic would be better. Even a karoo. My advice? Focus on adding more card draw. If you want it to be a combo deck, enable the combo as best as you can. Your manabase is fine-ish. You may even be able to go a scooch bigger, but I wouldnt really recommend it. Grab ways to set up your combo (tutors, draw, redundency) and maybe a plan B and C. Overall? Well done, much better than most people here. Manabase? Fine enough.
These turts are just like us bros :)
>>97579199oh i didn't know this existed, this is really great. i can even sac off the treasures from big score/windfall for it>>97579213yeah, its not a formal 2 card infinite, but i was hoping having as many outlets for it as possible would help (helix pinacle, pashalik infinite bodys/burn) and some of the outlets are searchable off matron if i already have engineer/combo piece in hand. ill look at more card draw to deck thin more and draw into the pieces and see, thank you

>>97579914>>97580066As monowhite master, Brought Back is generally great because it's the best ramp spell early game, and very flexible late game to get any threat, including lands back into play. I play it all the time. Continue? does look like a sweet addition to the arsenal, but it looks like it goes in specific decks where you can use it offensively and defensively.
>>97579914New staples don't happen. Everything is so redundant and advantages so marginal that no one cares to run the optimal cards and they're usually fine because it's multiplayer and marginal differences get drowned out by seat order and the one inevitable retard throwing wrenches in how the game is played.
>>97580166
>>97580123It helps that Brought Back can bring back any two permanents while Continue is just limited to creatures. I imagine there will be points where both would be useful. But I've never really found space for Brought Back in my mono white stuff so I don't know for sure.

>>97580517He shouldn’t even need removal. Ashling’s effect itself is on sac not ETB, so although that player wouldn’t get an ETB off it, they could still play their biggest elemental, it kills itself, Ashling makes a talked copy with haste, and they punch you in the face or you block with a 1/2
>>97580861Karai isn't random anon
>>97580861I don't like that she seems decent in Ardbert.
>>97580906You don't get to sac anything with Ashling vs Hushbringer. If you evoke an elemental in, it turns off all ETB effects, which Evoke itself is. So you are just cheating in big vanilla creatures more or less, since the point of the deck is to make big etbs and double dip, but they don't get haste either unless some other effects is granting it.
>>97580913>>97580861As if it wasn’t bad enough they’re doing a man-child nostalgia TMNT set, but they’re having to scrape the bottom of the barrel for characters and whenever you post about not knowing who the fuck someone is, some obese balding redditor is guaranteed to reply to you with>how can you NOT know about Bazooble Blorps?! >>97581023>702.73. Evoke>702.73a Evoke represents two abilities: a static ability that functions in any zone from which the card with evoke can be cast and a triggered ability that functions on the battlefield. “Evoke [cost]” means “You may cast this card by paying [cost] rather than paying its mana cost” and “When this permanent enters the battlefield, if its evoke cost was paid, its controller sacrifices it.” Paying a card’s evoke cost follows the rules for paying alternative costs in rules 601.2b and 601.2f–h. Casting a spell for an evoke cost, adds an ETB effect to the spell.Which Hushbringer turns off.

>>97581626oh you dont hard cast ashen rider to chuck it to the grave and use whip of Erebos on it
>>97581597nta but turtles is way more kiddy than magic.
>>97581507This reads like an AI trained by a schizophrenic.
>>97581641Why isn't this guy and Sugarmaw foods btw?
>>97581641pizza monster is a silly premise but that thing is gross and kinda spooky
>turtle precon has city of brass and two bond lands>and a bunch of other highly playable shit like vigor The deck is paid for by those 3 lands at msrp. If you're an active player you'd be retarded not to buy it. This shit is gonna sell extremely well and wotc will use that data to fuck us more.

>>97581571And yet not on the list somehow.
>>97581607>mfw seeing people bitch about turtles getting too many versions of themselves when they were quiet on there being NINE FUCKING AANGS
>>97581601i know this might sound crazy, anon, but you don't have to pay 8 mana to use that card.learn how to build decks.
>>97581692>whataboutismkys, subhuman
>>97581626>I was really more looking for removing any permanent, or non-land permanent. They put that shit at much higher mana on creatures
>>97581692>we didn't get any Big MT scientists in fallout
>>97581696>he's very madthat's rough buddy
ub subhumans need to die
uh oh melty
>>97581670I fucking hate how shamelessly pushed UB products areThe elementals precon came with a bunch of tapped lands and shit that only taps to cast creature spells.
>>97581670If the Commander Deck sells, but not the set, maybe they'll lock in that weirder UB sets work better as Commander Precons and other novelty Magic products.
>>97581693I don't really like reanimation strategies because it's too susceptible to removal, if that's what you're getting at.
>>97581696That's not whataboutism, retard
>>97581723>man i hate how wotc shamelessly pushes these UB products!!meanwhile this thing beats your average edh player out of the box
>>97581723Name 6 cards from spider-man currently seeing major constructed play.
>>97581736What's the most valuable reprint in that box? Tell me right now. How much is it worth? Because if it's not fucking City of Brass you can shut your ass up>>97581739>b-b-but what about this one set which wasn't even going to be a full set until WotC saw how badly Assassin's Creed did!?!?!
>>97581339Well you'll tolerate me playing tmnt at the table too.
>>97581732do it wotc, rance is an ally!
>>97581740Name 5 banned UB cards
>>97581739Soul Stone Vibrant CityscapePeter Parkers CameraUhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
>>97581743Sure, here's one.
>>97581743
>>97581740>says UB precons are pushed>tell him otherwise>but my reprints!!dude just buy the city of brass single so you can spare yourself from seeing the evil UB IPs
>>97581755>>97581755>>97581755
>>97581670The reprints will drop in price as always. Just proxy it if you're that price sensitive.
>>97581771Bond lands typically drop to about $5 when reprinted but they've never been reprinted in a commander deck.I'm super curious how much it'll drop City of Brass. I doubt it'll go less than $10
>>97581771>The reprints will drop in price as alwaysnot nearly as much as you thinkwotc is careful in managing their reprint equity and that's why reprints of needed staples like shocks always have new art (causing the old arts to spike)
