When it was new, the premise was that the effect should be something you can make in either color about as easily. But if you really think about it, the longer that the game has gone one, the more that hybrid mana cards are bending. Some of them are cards that really should just be one of the two colors, not "either" color. If the standards for this were better, I don't think anyone would have any reason at all to complain about including hybrid symbol cards as only counting for one color.
