Alright, after playing spyrers, cops, cops, cops, cops, cops, cops, spyrers, and cops, I'm being challenged by Genestealers. Their big thing is Blaze immunity, right? Do they all have lascutters or is that only champs? How are they in melee? I'm operating on half a Cawdor gang after taking devastating losses in Great Darkness.

Hello thread, I am stopping by from /40kg/, I just have a greentext to drop

>just getting into the hobby after being enthralled with the 40k and FB/AOS universes for 10~ years
>buying up some models and assembling/painting them
>blessed enough to have a job where I can hobby on site
>work with tards
>one of my tards enjoys hanging out with me while I model
>tard is a cool dude who loves vidya and sports, especially gridiron football
>hmmmm, Blood Bowl Season 3 has a full box on sale for 30% off
>order in to spend some quality time with my tard buddy making some models and playing football together on the tabletop and not just on Madden/NCAA for 360
>planning to paint hoomans in his favorite NFL team

Really looking forward to using Blood Bowl tabletop to connect with my special buddy and have him exercise his football IQ.

Going to use this as a way to try and branch into a Tomb Kings army for Old World as well (and a death army in AoS). Do any of you seasoned Blood Bowl players have advice for complete newbs? I also intend on bringing the game to my LGS and seeing if I can get some games going with fellas down there.

Lost today's game of battleclade vs raveners, almost entirely a skill issue on my part, but I got some hell nice pictures of the ordeal. We wound up with a big mosh pit of raveners brawling with servitors, winning, and then getting torched by even more servitors, and a lot of teleporting shenanigans too.

So I've never had any means to get into Warmaster or Epic and I still don't, but I've always been fascinated by both, especially the former. I love the scale, the concepts, and also think the 10mm minis are just kickin' rad.

Are there any good sites with fluffy battle reports or some with nice good galleries of excellent Warmaster or Epic minis?

Advice on what aspect of the game? Not being a dick, just trying to narrow it down
>>97596061
I just want a fucking unique big guy for the Brettonians
>>
>>97596504
I should have been more specific. I am wanting advice to making it as playable as possible for a tard who is great at vidya and sprots but is still, well, tarded. I also have no experience with the game so I'm at his level rn.

Are the play by play rules of the game easy enough to translate from real girdiron? I'll be the one doing all the reading and having to explain it all in plain language.

Also also, is it worth dipping in my toes for another team model box for different playstyles? Or do the teams largely play the same? (I can always proxy rules for my tard buddy too anyway)
>>
>>97596522
I wouldn't buy another team until you find out if you like the game or not + how it plays. Tomb Kings and Bretts are alright starters. There are some similarities between teams (bashy, agile, hybrid and stunty) but they mostly all have unique play styles as well as theme.
The way I learned the game was playing against the AI in Blood Bowl 3 (the videogame) because that put guard rails on what I could do and it showed me additional info you don't get on the TT.
Blood Bowl is really only football themed. Knowledge of one doesn't carry over to the other at all.
If you don't want to play Blood Bowl 3 (which is still using an old ruleset but is updating soon), I would watch some videos to get familiar yourself with how the game is played.
The key parts of the game are 1) tackle zones, 2) blocking (which means hitting someone) and 3) assisting with blocks. If you have these three things down, the rest of the game is easy to comprehend (then you start getting more into higher level positioning and risk management, etc.)
>>
In Mordheim, does the Warrior Wizard skill only let you cast while wearing armor, or also while using a buckler/shield?

And again. Not the victory but close enough for my rant, isn't the victory battleship supposed to be a low-tech imitation of the apocalypse class? And yet the victory's lance batteries are double the apoc's range. Yes they're lower strength but not by too much. And it goes faster. And if you want to boost the range of the apocalypse now you have to gamble on engine damage. I don't get the design decisions.
The victory is a bakka exclusive design yes but it doesn't make me any less angry

>>
>>97594772
There's not much difference between the variant list themes when it comes down to it. Bakka is meant to be about gunnery rather than carriers but adds a bunch of unique carrier hulls for no real reason; Bastion Fleet is meant to be about old obsolete hulla but in practice is just Gothic Fleet with more options.

My favourite fleet build is pretty standard Gothic: a Retribution battleship and a bunch of standard cruisers plus a few escorts. Charge in as a phalanx and enjoy shotgunning torpedoes; it's not subtle but it's good fun.

Now that all the stats are here it's 2 less strength on the lances for double range and +5cm movement, plus an option to make it cheaper with torpedoes.
Why can't the apocalypse get such nice things?
>>
>>97599875
I mean, with the Lock On range boost effect it does somewhat balance out (despite the critical). I agree that the Victory should have an additional malus for what it offers, though. Perhaps a downgrade on shield or turret rating?

Anons, how the hell do I use Kommandos effectively? 2 APL and melee seems like a really bad combo.
>>
>>97601206
They can charge from conceal
>>
>>97601210
But can you use the fight action while concealed? No matter what it's gonna cost 3 AP to reposition or dash close enough, charge, and the use the fight action to melee.
>>
>>97601206
The nob is 3 APL, and you have two ways to hand out +1 APL
You also have universal charge from conceal, which is simple but very strong in keeping your boyz safe till the right moment, and also combos directly with Skulk About even if they do get shot
Just a Scratch is so good that its now become a byword for similar damage-ignoring ploys on later teams
You can also further close the distance with Shhhhhh
On open boards, consider dropping the burna boy for a regular boy who'll give you free stun/smoke nades every turn

>>97601218
Yes, conceal only normally prevents you from charging. You can always fight on conceal. So Kommandos can charge/fight while on conceal, ideally placing yourself somewhere you'll still be in cover should you kill the enemy in melee and thus keep yourself safe from return fire
And you can't reposition/dash in the same turn that you charge anyway
>>
>>97601218
>No matter what it's gonna cost 3 AP to reposition or dash close enough, charge, and the use the fight action to melee
Sounds like you've got a lot to learn about how the game works if you still think you can charge in the same turn as another movement action.
Use conceal orders to sneak up, position yourself to be in charge range for an enemy model that is already expended. Then, next turn, you are ready to charge -> fight them. Set up two of those opportunities and you'll mitigate the risk of losing initiative (should you do so and one of your threats gets picked off, you still have the second one).
Between 10 wounds, 4/5 damage, just a scratch to punch way above weight/stonewall enemy counterattacks, and conceal charges, the team is really capable. Then you add their surprisingly good shooting to take care of remote threats (make sure to bring harpoons, they are marine-killers when you have dakka dakka dakka active), and you have a team that doesn't really have any major weaknesses.

>A. Are navy breachers any good? I think they look cool
They're pretty nice nowadays. I think they're a bit skewed - a lot of their power is in their damage reduction ploy and their one time servo-skull detonation and then the rest of the team is less powerful to compensate, which can be a shame. They're also pretty tough against power armoured teams, given their lack of armour piercing. Definitely worth playing overall though.
Do beware, you need to either do some cutting and bring a spare 28mm base or buy two boxes to get the two gunners you're allowed to field. Really stupid box setup on this one. At least with a second box you'll also get every alternative weapon option you'd ever want and the spare armsmen for swapping in.
>B. What does the inside of the chainfist hand look like, is it like a power-mitten?
I guess? I dunno what you're expecting to find in there. It's kinda plain.

>>97603304
Well, is says you pick two out of the laser, melta, and plasma. I would assume the las and plas are the go to buut I only did a skim of the rules
>>
>>97603386
Usually you take plasma melta but for newer players melta can be especially tricky to use and get in position because of the close range. Usually still worth it against most teams.
>>
I fuarking luv Warcry.
>>
>>97603308
Chainsword/Chainaxe + autopistol/plasma and grenade (demo or blasting charge) best loadout for them.

There are plenty of chainsword/axe bits from Jakhals kits, Jakhals also fairly cheap due to them being in all World Eater big boxes.

2 chainsword/axe, not a great loadout but jakhal got them and it looks cool.

Stubgun, then demo/blasting charge or knfie on the other arm. The cheapest loadout. Every bits are from the kits. downside is that orlock stubgun is so ugly.

Hand flamer, then chainsword/axe/knife/stubgun/demo charge on other arm.

Don't have to buy weapon on the "other arm" right at start if you're short on credit, just don't cheat and inform your opponents. Chainaxe is trading post weapon so you can't start with it.
>>
>>97603386
>>97603118
The las volley is kinda ass this edition. Range limitations aren't actually that important in KT thanks to conceal orders letting you get up close, so the default selection should be melta + plasma.

Is it just me or are clan Pestilens Skaven quite strong in Mordheim? My group started playing Mordheim recently and I thought Plague Monks are really cool so I picked them for my first warband. There are not so many different weapon systems and they dont have that much tactical variation. They have already done every variation.
Lances have low dice but high penetration. Weaponbatteries have high dice but normal strenght.
Torpedos are ordnance that can force opponents to move in another direction.
Ordnances are torpedos that can move behind obstacles.
Nova cannon is a sniper weapon.
Anon >>97598225 is right that light cruisers and battleships could have potencial for more classes. But when you look at escorts, the combinations are not that many with only those weapon systems avaible.
Thats why they released the Falchion light cruiser and similar escorts or grand cruisers to play woth the ship hull stats.

>Subjugatior Class Cruiser
Essentially a Dominator with the nova cannon swapped for a Bombardment Cannon like a space marine strike cruiser, but probably fixed forward
>Saturn Class Battlecruiser
The aforementioned Battlecruiser'd Gothic
>Warlord Class Pocket Battleship
An Overlord with bigger guns, thinking either s10 or a pair of s5 or 6 batteries per side, maybe an extra shield and turret, and the engine explode rule like the Mercury Cruiser has

Homebrew is kinda weird. You expect them to be overpowered or unbalanced. So people like to stick to the official rulebooks/fleetlists. I think thats what people forget why many are so company focused. Something everybody can or has to agree on.
>>
>>97614328
>Subjugatior Class Cruiser
That is kinda the question. Give them other stats or weapons that defines a faction. Honestly i would leave the bombards with Space Marines.

>Saturn Class Battlecruiser
Sounds you found a variation. Legit interesting. But the dorsal lance should be the only 60cm and the sides still 30cm or 45cm.

>Warlord Class Pocket Battleship
Sounds too much like a RPG used ship. You dont need an existing class but bigger guns. If you want more Weapon batteries you could take the overlord and give him weapon batteries in the prow like the Emperor battleship has. No 6+ front armor and the player has to decide which weapon batterie side he supports. And keep the dorsal lances to make him differ from the Emperor.

>Jupiter Class Battleship
Like with Subjugatior. When you want bombards, you could easily just hire Space Marine cruisers.

It works for a lot of awgs. you just need not-easily breakable formula or spreadsheet that respects the existing power curve.

If I wanted to start playing Necromunda, which box is better; the old starter or the newer Hive Secundus box?
>>
>>97628283
Neither is really a good option but hive war would be better (better models and terrain) but both have moreor less useless rulebooks and lock you to the teams inside. buy a core rulebook and a ganger box of the gang of your choice.

>>97628302
That sucks. So presumably a new starter will be released soon?
>>

The only thing good about those sets are the tokens, templates, barricades and the dice.
Everything else is shit.
If you have way to get anything of the above mentioned from regular 40k (templates), making your own (tokens/terrain), etc it quickly loses value.
With Necroraw there is even less value for the rulebook you can buy, as you can simply print the rules if you want a physical copy.
>>
>>97628346
Probably not. Necromunda is notorious for having no real starterbox because it is most of the time more like the seasonal update or a more or less adon you can play without the main game.

A lot of scenarios start you with six guys. This was a multiplayer side game so we started with 3 but rolled d3 for bottle checks. I rolled a six. It makes it kinda goofy for Cawdor because bottle checks go off of your starting crew, not the guys left on the battlefield. So I can have like 17 fucking guys on the battlefield, lose one, and still bottle on a 6 if I started the game with 6

It's unfortunate but Blood Bowl attracts people who like American football but it catfishes them because it's not a game downs like football. The people writing the rules actually are going out of their way to make the game even less like football. Passing has been butchered. They have cut the positional pieces each team can use effectively in half. It's in a really bad state right now. Games workshop is murdering this game.
>>
>>97607340
If you have played Goblins or halfings or one of these meme stunty teams and still enjoy the game, I would say you are living your best life because you just don't care about winning. All the agi teams and elf teams have been nurfed with each team losing blitzers or catchers. Now elf teams have very little special about them. Just a bunch of squishy linemen. So while Goblins were bad, you probably were at least having fun. When you play elves you usually don't have fun. You spend most the game with your players on the bench while you are just waiting for the game to be over.
>>
>>97632774
I misread you actually had 5 men, but still no champs.

If you aren't trying to troll with that list then you must've not read the rule. Champs are needed because they can do post battle action. Most gangs start with 2. Also champs give "group activation", I don't think you need an explanation why it's a good thing to have.

You bought 2 flamers on your Cawdor leader? A cheaper Cawdor flamer and a more expensive one from the TP??? Isn't this the most obvious meme/troll move ? Most gangs don't start with flamer because it's too expensive/not fit the gang theme/or they already got better alternative. In the case of Cawdor they got the much cheaper Polearm+Blunderbuss as their flamer alternative.

Vandoth is a bounty hunter, a temporary member of the gang that stay for 2-3 game before he left. He's powerful but he's unreliable for your gang developement. If you want a gang with Vandoth as a permanent member play Outcast

Outlaw venator, venator's entire gimmick is that they're bounty hunter, and they got lots of credit from selling captive and dead fighters. Making an outlaw venator make them unable to utilize this mechanic.

5-men gang is below average for general scenarios. You should check the scenarios being used in your group to determine the average men needed for a gang. 8-9 fighters is the universal number of fighters for a starting gang, for most book scenarios.

It's the only good (and fun) unique weapon they had, and it's the sole reason you play them, you like to burn stuff. Outside of that they had the greatsword, which is not unique, but quite a scary and a bit of a meme weapon. If you want more variety and less spam you had to bring the redemptionists, Redemptionists are half of their assets, because they don't get the usual champ and prospect like other house. If you want to be an autist cawdor purist but don't want fags to nag about "spam" then you just had to settle playing as a discount orlock with shitty autogun and stubgun.

Spegs and Sperglings, which version of old Epic is the best? I know most people play the new fanmade version of Epic or LI these days, but me and my mates want to go back and play one of the old ones to experience it and get a taste of a game we never got to play.
I think this is the one we should try? Epic from 1997. Beyond a few Firepower Magazines everything seems to be contained to the Army Book so it seems like a "one and done" sorta game which is nice.
We would probably want to do Guard or Marines vs Chaos.
Is Epic 1997 the best choice for an OG Epic experience, or should we go with Epic Armageddon from 2003, Space Marine from 1989 etc.
TIA for any help :)

Sorry for the late reply.

I had an idea for a gang of outcasts (before I knew that Outcast Gangs were a thing) that follow Vandoth around. They are inspired by an outcast SoB that’s correctly guessed what he is. She is under the delusion that by drinking his blood she can empower herself and others with a fraction of the Emperor’s power and purge the undergone. In truth, she and the others become addicted to his genhanced blood and crave more. They bring in bounties dead, drained of blood, to secure credits to keep themselves armed.

Vandoth for his part doesn’t care as long as they help him and don’t get in his way.

Your picrel is shit. Imagine the 3ed streamlining except done twice as hard, washing out any flavor in the process.
Your options are:
Classic Epics:
>Space Marine - the classic granular one, "40k but on a larger scale", fun but janky
>Epic 40k (your pic) - super streamlined play but fun is gone

New Epics:
>NetEpic - fan-updated version most similar to Space Marine
>Epic Armageddon - like someone took Epic 40k and dialed it back to sane levels, so they kept some streamlining mechanics, but you actually had varied units and weapons back. Was pretty well received.

The last two at some point either merged, or someone made a new version containing both, called NetEA. Seems closer to EA than NetE, but I stopped paying attention at this point so I can't tell you much about it.
>>
>>97640539
Never knew that it transformed that much. How does Aeronautica Imperialis fit into that?
>>
>>97642059
It doesn't IIRC, it's a separate game that happens to have the same units. Think mainline 40k vs Kill Team.
>>
>>97642059
Aeronautica Imperialis is a game about predicting your oppponent next move, aircraft knowledge and how to abuse the shit out it. For example if you play as Eldar against your opponent's Valkyrie. You can stay at attitude 9 and be completely safe against the shitty Valkyrie because it can only stay at attitude 7 and in the game you can only shoot at 1 attitude below or above. Or a more nimble aircraft can turn better than a sluggish bomber.

GW made a 2nd edition of Aeronautica and throw all of that out of the window. Max attitude is now 5 and play area is on much smaller hex board instead of any board, there're really nowhere to run. All aircrafts can turn with ease now, and "ground-only" rule for a lot of close air support weapons were removed, making them the deadliest dogfight weapons, because insane firepower. So really the game is just a dice rolling simulator.

The worst cardinal sins any warhammer game can get is a failed 10 second google search (or just copy paste from old edition) to get the info correct, and the writer for the reboot edition did it, so many shits are wrong, at the end of the game's run they don't even care any more and put the pictures of the aircraft wrong too. Funny because a nerd with no google and wikis make all the plane specs correct in original AI, down to autistic details.

>>
>>97640539
Honestly Epic Space Marine was fine when it was just the box set. The problems crept in when the expansions had to add special rules for every other unit. So instead of just squaring off and rolling dice, the ork player would be rolling on a chart to see how far the lifta-droppa moved a land raider before dropping it, or tracing line of sight to determine where a shot bounced off a forcefield and the imperial player would be tracking plasma dice for his Imperator titan.

The best kit to buy is the old Putrid Blightking. They're great at presenting the "Vast Bulk" mutation. Now the kit is retired there other option like Blood Bowl nurgle, lord of plague (the most converted warhammer model in history). For the smaller guy use poxwalker, pox wretches, vox shambler. blood bowl nurgle.

There're also rotmire creed and the accursed cultists, i don't like these.

Much appreciated! I've got a bunch of Poxwalkers hanging around still on sprues and Poxwretch parts left over from Darkwater.
I think my LGS has a box of the old Blightkings so I'll check that out.

Yes, one of the forgeborn is female. If you're new to GW, they rarely made feminine characters, their "female" are usually androgynous, or fat.

Starting Necromunda/a Cawdor gang and have a few questions for you Necrochads
For lawful/outlaw, does that just determine your hired guns and hangers on and help/hurt rarity rolls on some shop items?
I'm torn between going more Redemptionist to get the Hive Preacher or more Cawdor to kitbash a sweet gothic ambot maybe get the executioner (is he/are hired guns worth it?)
Also looking for input on Stig Shambler, because that model is awesome

so generally speaking the minis can be used across all editions.
the ones you're most likely to be able to find opponents for are either Legions Imperialis, if it's a GW store or mostly young/newer players since it's the official one, or Epic Armageddon aka 4th if it's a slightly older group (usually the crowd favorite, and the one 95% of the community was playing for the 20 years before LI dropped).
>tp.net-armageddon.org/
>epic-uk.co.uk/wp/army-lists/

after that, there's a relatively small but extremely die hard cult following for the community maintained successor to 2nd ed, net epic gold. this also has seen a recent influx of players since its got almost the same core rules as legions imperialis, but with more lists and GWs not actively fucking it up.

There's also very (very) small active communities for Epic 40,000 (3rd) and for the original AT / space marine, but they're more like historical oddities at this point. AT got a relaunch in 2018 which was a rare example of modern GW not shitting the bed, so most people play that. Epic 40k was a very streamlined / high level version of the game that most anons don't like, but it's also got its die-hards. it's the best edition for running very large battles, so there's that.

>what about aeronautica
it uses the same planes, but it's a different game. the original version was a rework of wings of glory by FW in the 00s, done alongside the IA books. it got a rerelease a couple years ago as a half-assed hybrid boardgame with hex movement.

>what about minis
GWs lines for LI, AT and AI are all mostly compatible. they changed the scale by about 25% vs the old stuff, except titans which got way bigger. there's also 40,000 options for forumware, 3rd party, 3D prints, etc. basically any unit in the 40k universe you've got about a dozen options for. the official GW stuff doesn't support most of them of course, while the community ones have tons of lists and options.

Cannot have Stig as outlaw, outlaw also can't sell captive or claim bounty, and they had bounty so dead fighters give credit to opponents. Also there aren't much choice for alliance and hired guns as outlaw.

>Headsman
He's a great distraction carnifex for cawdor, he's very fast with his article of faith, and he has a scaryy weapon. But he's terrible at fighting because -1 to hit.

>Stig
He's not great, you had to get a bunch of BS advancements and shooting skill on him for him to be useful, and even then his shitty armor would make him a liability in the long run. Good news is that unlike a hired gun, he's a juicy target because he can be captured and sold for hefty sum of credits, so he'll be better at attracting attention from your opponent than the Headsman. Also he got really dogshit mental stat so he's weak to any cheese that involve these stat like fear or insanity. It's a complete meme fighter. But don't be discourage to play him though, just manage your expectation.

You need some air cover. I'd go for a Dic or two, and in a big game try to squeeze in an Emperor or an Exorcist (Assault boats are better than you think). There's a reason the Mars is the go-to flotilla commander for everyone who can get it, though. She's a hell of a ship. I personally use an Exorcist just because I like the model. After that it's mostly a matter of picking out stuff you like the look of. It's genuinely hard to fuck up an Imp list.
>one Defiant
>air cover
They really don't have enough launch capacity for that. You're better off using something like Falchions or Cobras to spam small torpedo salvoes to strip fighters off of the ordnance counters, detonate torps, and pray it's enough. Or run torpedo-heavy Bakka, they can get 4 turrets on capital ships.

>Was there ever official models for the space hulks in Battlefleet Gothic?
No, they're meant to be kitbashed out of failed casts, bits, and wads of foam. There are build articles in Warp Storm and the old BFG magazine
>>
>>97648794
>so generally speaking the minis can be used across all editions
Pretty much. Bases differ (20x20mm old epic, 40x10mm epic 40k, some people use flat 25mm), but as long as they're about the same size few people will complain. The only place it might be a problem is Aeronautica since it might be a different scale/style so check it before committing.

That does NOT include legiones imperialis, they're noticeably bigger and with enough size difference that you should assume they'll be "with opponent's permission only" - some will still allow that because any Epic player in a drought etc., but just rolling in and assuming everyone'll be OK with it is a quick way to get branded an asshole.

Thanks, king. It seems like the Hive Preacher is great but not good enough to go heavy Redemptionist to get outlaw

Sad that Stig is pretty shit. I didn't even think about the cover rule basically bringing him to a 6+ many times. I guess the alternative is put a heavy flamer on him, but he's too slow and vulnerable

Any thoughts on greatsword Cawdor brethren? I might make one or two for the lulz
>>
>>97650931
Greatswords are cool >>97634123

Stig stubber is actually really scary because its D2 instead of D1 like a normal stubber. Heavy Flamer sucks and is a complete waste of money, unless you can get Infiltrate skill, but then mowing down people with stubber would still be better in that case.

The most fun modelling practice for Cawdor is to make your own Pole Buss. A shotgun with a blade, then some wiring to the trigger.

you'll only get that in one direction. the red shirts and other GW store guys will bitch about you using older epic stuff. and yeah, the newer Titanicus and Aeronautica have their bespoke bases and widgets.

>Bases differ (20x20mm old epic, 40x10mm epic 40k, some people use flat 25mm)
the ones with base sizes where the rules care:
- legions imperialis: 25mm rounds for infantry, no base for tanks
- titanicus: 40s and 50s for knights, 60mm for scout titans, ovals for big titans
- new aeronautica: hex bases with little dials

none of the other ones really care. the rules for base sizes in EA are
>A stand may be no more than 40mm and no less than 5mm across in any direction.
>A stand must be at least 20mm across in one direction (i.e., a 5mm by 5mm stand is not allowed, but a 5mm by 20mm stand would be okay).
>Stands representing infantry units must have at least three infantry models and may not have more than seven.
>Infantry mounted on bikes or horses must have between two and four models mounted on each base.
>Stands representing artillery must have between one and two artillery pieces and up to six crew models.
the old official bases were 20x20 squares or 12x40 sticks. but you can use whatever. a lot of people use 25mm squares or 25mm - 30mm round. you just want them to be thinner ones. a huge lip like bases on big models will look weird.

>How do you keep games of Mordheim fair?
Sometimes they're just not and that's part of the fun. One warband becomes legendary and the other warbands shit themselves when it's time to fight them.
One way to fix this is to have wyrdstone decide who's the winner- either see who has the most saved wyrdstone at the end of the campaign, or let players invest wyrdstone into significant bonuses for the final, campaign-ending free for all game. This means that players really need to decide when to get new gear and warband members versus when to save their wyrdstone for the campaign's end. Kind of sounds like you guys haven't set up the campaign like that, so that may not work in your situation. An alternative is to let two weaker warbands gang up on or ambush a stronger one to make it a more entertaining fight.
One last way to make the game more entertaining is to be silly, take risks or roleplay mad characters. Show the other player a good time, be good-natured and easygoing and put yourself in more situations where the dice decide. If you're not leaping off buildings for combat bonuses, jumping from roof to roof or roleplaying your fighters settling old grudges via ill-judged duels, is it even really Mordheim?
>>
>>97660727
>Sometimes they're just not and that's part of the fun

The players are the one keeping the game fair. You control the units, knowledge of what's good is important, and losing isn't a bad thing. These are the rite of passage to the games, you're unlikely to stick to it if you can't take it. Both Mordheim and Necromunda are more like an immersive adventure than a tactical wargame.

Enforcers are fine rulewise. It's just the players that are kinda cringey, and that's still fine, but then you had 2,3 of the same players show up. Because Enforcer is the most popular faction in the game, and each of them had the same mindset that they're the special one for picking enforcer. You should probably ask them if their favorite movie is Dredd 2012 too.

A guy at my LGS ran them with shields and concussion rifles, so almost every one of them had a blast template plus good armour saves to boot. Also used a ton of flash grenades so that he could try and rush in and cuff your guys which is pretty cop-like but usually not fun to go up against.
>>
Can anyone point me to the 2023 core rulebook? Found the relevant rule on necroraw but I want to screencap the page to send to my buddy
>>
>>97663033
They're the most requested for a release, like almost every social media Necro post has to have this 1 dude coming in and ask "When's arbites?". "Dark Uprising" got made as a result. They had the most amount of releases than any other gangs, even had their own Alliance in plastic. If they weren't selling well why would GW make more? Even in these threads people who want to start out as Enforcers way outnumbered any other gangs.

If you're looking for reason why , it's pop culture + old fags keep spinning tall tales about the boogey man polices when anyone ask them about the old Necromunda, but you can't blame them because the brilliant rule writers made sure the oddballs gang had the most interesting rules while the clan houses are just fillers.
>>
>>97662624
One player being the cops is fine, our campaigns usually have one, but multiple cops showing up it doesn't make much narrative sense and gets kinda dumb.
The fact that they are essentially part of a standardized force in masks and a uniform also leaves less room for them to become your guys and makes them less fun to fight against imo.
Its a lot more fun to shoot a unique looking mini called "Rippy Rob" in the spine and maim him than it is to shoot what is basically "faceless officer with boltgun #3"
>>
>>97663033
To be frank they are the most warhammer like guys besides CGC, easyest to paint thanks to the cool armour, lite rules with auto recruits n mesch for everyone (and i think the bolter design is the coolest in the game). "Tournament" tomorrow for me
Though it's really more of a full day event using a tournament format for convenience. It's going to use the Joint Ops team selection style, where we play in teams of 2 against each other, and all maps are using the Descent killzone type from the new box. Should be a lot of fun.
I had my teammate switched in the last 2 days because of a sudden emergency, so I'll be running legionaries (proxied with loyalist marines) alongside a vetguard team played by a new guy.

I also designed and am bringing the terrain for one of the maps, which should be interesting to see. The upper level has a "ancient ruins" type feel, and then the bottom floor has a lot of focus on an entirely enclosed tomb room with a lot of roundabout ways in. Chaotic hopefully.
>>
>>97667307
Yeah they removed options that had to be converted on. Idk about scenarios and the thinning of data sheets was a good thing imo considering there’s over 100 different army lists you can run in the new edition. The core rules are the same as they were 25 years ago. 40k doesn’t resemble or play like it did 25 years ago. This is a bad comparison.

A good day with a great last game that saw my Dark Angels successors (and their guard entourage) face off against Space Wolf successors working with Sororitas. Had a big, honourable fight between the two marine team leaders (Legionary Chosen for my guy, Wolf Scouts Pack Leader for his) which the Fenrisian only won because of sheer willpower. And then the Angels came in from behind to finish the job, because they had been tactically outmaneuvering the wolves and weren't above reclaiming their honour through more practical methods. Turned out the game was then decided by the very last shot, which secured my team the win that game.

Squadroning does a lot of useful things
>LD
Share Leadership with a carrier without putting your Admiral on the highest-priority target. In general, you can make up for a ship that rolled dogshit LD. The only downside is that *all* the ships share orders. It's not like most Imperial cruisers don't like Reload Ordnance or BFI. And remember that the instant you fail an Orders check, you're done for the turn. The fewer rolls you have to take, the more your re-rolls matter and the less likely you are to blow a critical one.
>Weapons sharing
You have multiple ships with fat battery racks and only a few lances. Congratulations, you're now rolling all your battery dice at once instead of one ship getting a clean shot and everyone else firing through his blast markers
>Forced target priority
Sick of your Mars getting raped every time you stick your nose out? Put an Endeavour in-between it and the enemy. Doesn't work with mixed armor values, unfortunately. I also squad up Endeavours or Endurances with my Exorcist, Oberon, and/or Emperor for some cheap extra punch. They're good for sniping off torpedoes, hanging back to chase off Escorts, or boosting forward to add on a little more punch and protection against enemy gun battleships and heavy cruisers.
>ordnance
You need to stack up a fat wave of torps or bombers? If your opponent doesn't have Nova cannon or a Planet Destroyer, guess what?
You can also mass turrets against Hail Mary torpedo waves, but being in base-to-base means you share blast markers. Not a good idea if you're in gun range.

So typically you squadron ships for protection, to cover for bad LD, or to mass up batteries. Slinging FP12 and quad lances from a pair of Lunars on Lock On is a hell of a lot more likely to wound something then sending them separately. I find that squadrons over 2-3 cruisers get extremely unweildy, however.

I mean it's in the blue-book examples, and if you've done any kind of naval game or historical research at all it's perfectly normal. Problem's more you than the game.

Does anyone have some advice on how to play gnomes more effectively? I might be more used to how other stunty teams operate, but gnomes seem to be harder for me to learn due to the lack of dodge and halfling chefs or bribes.

The Kill Team guys are posting AARs, pics and discussion of games. That's a much better contribution than the people who bitch about them.

What's your favorite Necromunda scenario, Scummers? I think Gunk Tank was my favorite so far, with Escape The Pit a close second. Im running a very casual style of campaign, so any scenario that can be easily converted to 3+ players is a top pick

For me the option to put ships into a squadron sounds something you do for escorts and unit heavy things. So you can move and play them quicker. Cruisers and bigger are just like hero units. Soit just feels like they should be solo miniatures.

I love Ghast Harvest and Meat!

Outside of hunting old ships on eBay.
Any stl?
I found some stl for nid ships and for some reason some of them have more holes and a syrian kid and everything is missing something.
Like Big ship, cruiser, light cruiser, escorts. Something is always missing.

I bought two boxes of Raptors from LGS since I noticed they are sold out online on GW store. I want to build them as Murderwing with extra bodies despite not playing the game in ages. I wonder if it is as bad as the KT21. Perhaps I will finally have a reason to catch up with the local Warhammer players.

Murderwing used the new raptor kit, which has the possessed raptor with mutated arm, a raptor with a glaive, and a 2 handed chainaxe. Also come with a Chaos Lord Raptor. So you'll need to find the extra bits to convert your old raptors.

>Murderwing used the new raptor kit
I know buddy.
>possessed raptor with mutated arm
Not a problem, I have a big bag of bits after building 8 Chaos Spawns.
>a raptor with a glaive
Um acthually, it's a Power Weapon© so Power Maul or Power Sword will do well.
>a 2 handed chainaxe
Not a biggie, I have plenty of leftover chainaxes.
Buying into pre-8E CSM years ago when everyone was selling their old minis for cents turned out to be a great idea.

Anyone got that kill team teams comparison image most recent version? Can't find it
>>
>>97682529
Unfortunately there is no recent version since there is no one left to make one. The game is dead with Shadowhunt fiasco (not enough boxes printed, GW failing to deliver boxes to dozens of stores across the world) being the final nail in the coffin.
>>
>>97682566
Damn but also all the teams I want are out already and there's plenty of mission variants and they're great(for GW rules)
>>
I had this dumbass poorhammer idea for kill team tomb world/boarding combat. They're basically 2D maps so I could just print them on A2 or whatever paper right? Obviously it'd would look kinda shit but maybe I'd figure out a way to cheapo the walls too.
Am I cooking or being retarded?
>>
>>97682605
People are doing it often for other games so I see no reason for not doing so if your budget is tight. Personally, if you like to play with a lot of scenery pieces but you can't afford buying it, saving enough money for buying an A1 Mini printer is the best choice. FDM printing is such a brainlet hobby, literally plug and play.

Yes GW been doing it since the 80s.

To be honest I'm split, I want cool looking terrain but the close quarters stuff is pretty inflexible outside of KT and I guess RPG scenarios you could come up with. Seems like a waste of limited space in my place (even though the boarding terrain does look great)

What about magnet toys? You can get them cheap in aliexpress or second hand stores.
How much details and texture is up to you, but too much texture and it can affect the easy storage.

Right, it hasn't been added to the OP has it. Here's the link, but it doesn't have Shadowhunt yet. I've been busy (and will be for another week).
