Planar Standard is really fucking fun and I genuinely enjoyed the games. It's not how good I want the game to be, but it's a huge step in the right direction.

Magic feels like it's in the early 2017 YGO era right now with the powercreep, and ironically I would say that makes it worse than current-day YGO. Every card made more value than what you invested into it, and traded up against removal. Going second was a death sentence.
