How do you find the time and executive function to read all of those?
>>
>>97650879
I am willing to believe anon put all of that together during the years. I have a good amount of books myself, mostly read, some still to be. I focus on reading more than once the books that I'm going to use first, others I buy to read but if the group is not interested I can read them later.

You sound like someone who might know. I'm looking for modern Italian fantasy/fantascienza authors (beyond Paolini).
Any tips? I want to read in Italian anything that's not a translation.

Anon, I know the perception can be distorted looking around here, but let's get this straight: there's lots of deranged people gravitating towards these hobbies of ours, yes, but they are deranged first, and they (at least) claim interest in the hobby after that. Engaging with the hobby doesn't make you disfunctional.
>>
>>97650927
nta but I also come from spaghettiland, and the truth is I don't really know of any recent italian authors, didn't really check modern stuff. I used to think licia troisi was shit, but turns out she's just bland. Good enough if you are starting out with the genre or want to work on your italian, there's much worse around lately.
>>
>>97650879
not the guy, but you could easily play/read all of those (and some multiple times) if you've been in the hobby for even 10 years, sometimes even 20 or 30 years. you're thinking like this was all collected at the same time.

Oh, yea. Went trough the full Mondo Emerso, I forgot.
I don't like her, she falls for every trope. Paolini at least was 15 when he started writing, he didn't know. Licia should have known better.
"To enter the dragon academy you have to be human, male, rich, sponsored and over 30" "Can I enter? I'm a poor 15 y.o. elf"
>>
>>97651019
Eh, I see what the author was going for, at least she highlighted how she had to go against her feminine side to keep up, and had to work on that later, but yeah. Bland characters mostly, the epic reveals were pretty pointless, and by the end it was just underwhelming looking back. Still better than samantha shannon at least, she's my new all time low.

>How do you read all those books?
NTA but it doesn't take much time to read most of the books on the shelf. Under two hours for the thin ones because artwork, tables, stat blocks and shit eat up space. A beefy ass CRB might take a couple of days of casual reading sessions, but splats are easy to knock out and most of that is splats. Even easier if you are just skimming lore bits and focusing on mechanics.

MOST splat fiends just hunt and peck ideas, items, mechanics, enemies, traps, etc though. A well laid out book makes it easy to do such a thing.
>>
>>97655653
Magic of Incarnum is one of the best overlooked splats in all of 3e.

World's Largest Dungeon was hilariously poorly designed. It's really bizarre that they are remaking it. I remember the fold out map for it being freakishly big.

This is probably the best place to ask, since I would get banned on reddit and I don't want to interrupt other threads.
Concerning 40k, its commonly stated that its a "Satire" and that the content is included and made over the top in order to mock it.
But following that logic, doesn't the inclusion of diverse units mean that its mocking those units that were previously not included, presumably to not mock it? Is there a defining appendix or concordance that explains what is the satire and what is genuine?
My underlying suspicion is that there was never any satire or mocking and it was just something the writers thought was cool, but that isn't what brings in the money now. So they pretend they were kidding and just print the money with what the masses ask for.
